Bundling transports??

hi folks i need to bundle transports ..i have created a request for the changes i have done now i need to bundle them and release it into co files and data file can yu people plz let me know the various steps i need to follow and how should i check whether all my module and table which i have bundled are done properly............
thanks and regards...

Anjum ,
I suppose ur reqmnt is to include all ur transports in one master transport and then move it .
For this create a master transport first . Then inlude ur individual transports as tasks ( there is an icon include objects..use it  ) in this mastr transport . Finally release this master transport . Please do the object check n consistency check before releasing .
Please clarify if this is not what u require .

  • Solution Manager Change Management: Transport Request Administration

    Hi.
We want to use the CHARM functionality of Solution Manager to improve our transport operations. We have several customers and expend´s a lot of time making tranports to different systems.
I don want to activate CHARM completely. Which activities do i must perform, and which activities do i must leave ?
    Regards
    Alvaro

    Hi Avinash
This is the Business Scenario: Our company is using SAP Solution Manager to perform monitoring and administration activities for over than 30 customers.
Dayly we espend over 85% of the basis team time making transport for all of the customers. We decide to set some internal politics to bundle transports, stablishing several releases of them, at specific hours of the day. So we want to use SOLMAN`S change logistics instead of CHARM Scenario to control and improve this activitiy, releasing time to perform other activities.
    Regards

  • What is the role of Packaging Team

    Hi,
I have around 4.5 yrs of experience in SAP FICO and a Certification in FICO. Have worked for 2 Full Implementation cycles and 1 partial Implementation Cycle, and 2 support projects as a FICO consultant. Now the project where I am working, its a support project for a global roll out. When Issues come which impact the Global Financial Template it is handled by the Level 3 team, while I am at L2 team, which looks after local changes. L 3 team has their own developement and quality clients.
After L3 makes any changes which has an impact on the Global Financial Template, the Packaging team moves in and checks the impact of the changes on the Global financial template, stacks the transport request in a sequence and hands them over to the Release Team which then moves it to the local testing client.
Now, this packaging team is being moved to India and I have been asked to lead this team. Now I am working as FICO Consultant.
If anyone has worked or seen a Packaging team working, please let me know whether it will be a Good move to accept this role. I am worried because, I fear I will forget FICO and there wont be much of impact analysis also to be done in this role and when under pressure all we will be doing is bundling transport request and handing it over to the release team.
It would be really nice of someone if someone can guide me through this critical phase.

    Hi Ram,
This is not exactly Regression Testing. IN this role I will need to analyze the transport requests, do an impact analysis and give a go no-go decision whenever any change is going to impact the global template.
Advice me please if it is a good idea to take up this assignment

    Hi Ervin,
We are still facing the same problem.
At the moment there is no time to investigate this problem.
In our case this track contains only 3 portal apps, so we are deploying these applications manually.

  • Transport an Appraisal and Objective Setting Template

Note the following advice pertaining to transporting an appraisals and objective setting template (I have not found documentation about this anywhere else, so hopefully some of you find this useful):
    Scenario:
You have maintained your templates in PHAP_CATALOG_PA in the main config client, and you have transported all other configurations (basic settings, etc.) to your unit test/integration test environment.
However, although you have right-clicked the category groups and templates to be transported and included them in a transport request, you find that only some of your configuration (or perhaps none at all!) is arriving in the target client when the transport is performed.
You may initially be able to work around this by downloading/uploading your config, but once your templates contain more complex configuration (such as using dynamic element references, etc.) you will find that this is no longer a feasible approach.
    Cause & Resolution:
The problem is caused by outdated information in the workflow definition environment (transaction SWU3), and specifically the section labeled "Check Entries from HR Control Tables".
Run transaction SWU3, expand tree node "Maintain Definition Environment" (which should be marked with a red cross at this stage) and click on "Check Entries from HR Control Tables". The information presented in the right-hand pane indicates that:
If there are errors regarding the transport objects PDST or PDWS, the relevant entries are not maintained in table SOBJ. You can use the report RHSOBJCH to rectify this later.
Proceed as suggested and run report RHSOBJCH (through SE38 or SA38) in the config client (i.e. where the templates are to be transported from). This has no side-effects I am aware of other than updating the reference information required.
If you now run SWU3 again you should find that the "Check Entries from HR Control Tables" node is marked with a green tick.
Simply go back to the catalog, include your cat.groups & templates in a transport again, and Voila! Our work here is done.
    Happy transporting...
Side-note: You may ask (as I did) what transporting of appraisal templates has to do with workflow, but it just so happens that the PD objects and infotypes associated with appraisals (VA, VB, VC, etc.) are transported through the same mechanism as workflow templates (which are also PD objects). if you peek inside the transport you will note that everything to do with the template and category group configuration is bundled inside PDWS and PDST transport objects...

    Hi Abe,
what is the appraisal process you are talking about?  The new stuff in ep4 where you define the process and steps which create the roadmap at the top of the document?  if so SAP does not have a great straightforward solution, but they did provide us some options.
you can check out this thread and if you want I can send you the full document that is referred to in the post.

  • Transporting Queries and Variables from QA to DEV

    Hi gurus,
Is there a way I can transport my query and variables(query components) back to DEV from QA,cos one of the variable that I am using started having a problem in DEV and can't seem to be able to fix it .
You can check the problem question here
    Problems with a Query
    Thanks

If you have access you can bundle the report in QA the same way as in Dev.  This is assuming you have a package set up there and basis will probably have to manually move it to the queue and import it.  This can be risky to do.

  • Experiences with ES Bundle "Integration of external Warehouse Management" ?

    Hi PI Experts,
anybody who can share experiences with the ES Bundle Integration of [External Warehouse Management System |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/espackages/integrationofExternalWarehouseManagement+System] and the usage of its Enterprise Services "Confirm Goods Movement_V1" or "Confirm Goods Movement" ?
As far as I understood these ES can be used for goods movements out of the ERP System.
Is it really possible to use these ES while creating an goods movement with Transaction MIGO ??
As far as I know it is only possible to send Transport Orders with WMTORD IDOCS out of SAP to externa Systems (!!) without any custom coding (!!) . Using instead an WMBXY message type (IDOC WMBIDO02) is only for inbound IDOC processing. If using this Standard IDOC for outbound IDOC processing the only way is implementing the BADI called while perfoming the TA MIGO. Correct?
Any experiences either with the ES Bundle or the IDOC goods movement out of SAP ERP are welcome.
    Kind regards,
    Dries

you can use ES for creating goods movement in SAP ( see the esoa sample apps on sdn) or you can make your won service published using BAPI .
I am not catching you in the use of BADI , elaborate more about that.

  • Transport using CMS between Dev, Qual and Prod

    Hi,
I'm a little bit curios if there are others out there using CMS for transport in a XI production line -
    Dev -> Qual -> Prod.
My company is using it, and it seems to me that at consolidation stage, you can only select transports related to a SWCV and NOT select transports individually or related to a namespace?
    Anyone?
Our version is XI 3.0 SP14 latest patch.
    best regards
    Torstein Nesby

    Hi Torstein,
I saw your other threads related to this as well as your thoughts on 'Quality Feedback' (which I agree with btw). It sounds like you may have been able to come to a resolution to a problem that continues to cause me issues. Can you review and provide some guidance on the following please?
    Current Environment / Setup:
    - XI 3.0 system, SP12
    - Single SLD with appropriate Group / transport Targets setup
    - Single IR Track, Single ID Track
    - CMS usage for transports. Successful from Dev to QA, QA to Prod has not yet been attempted.
    - SWCV are setup in IR and are specific to tech system / product. For example there is a SWCV for Peoplesoft where all related message / data types for Peoplesoft are located. There is another SWCV for SAP, another for Oracle,  etc.
    - Message Mappings and Interface Mappings are created in the target SWCV. This means that a single interface will normally consist of 2 SWCV to be migrated.
    - Currently migrations are bundled in Transport (export) lists vs change lists when migrated out of the Dev environment
    - As an aside, I understand the approach of effectively setting up a SWCV per interface with Usage dependencies across SWCV's for reuse of data / message types, however this is the architecture that was recommended at the start of development for this first release.
    What I am attempting:
    - In the Assemble tab in the transport Studio I want to be able to use a 'Subset Assembly' option to selectively choose which transport / change lists to allow to go to production.
    - Based on reading the SAP Help in the XI system, numerous SDN Posts, the SAP docs "Using CMS for XI 3.0" and "How to Transport XI Content Using CMS" it appears this option should be readily available for both the IR AND ID.
    Issue:
    - For both the IR and ID when I go to the Assembly tab and get the subsequent popup (after "Assemble Components") the "Subset Assembly" option is not visible. Supposedly when going to this Assembly tab, selecting a specific SWCV (not the default 'All Components' option), and choosing "Assemble Components" generates a popup with a checkbox listed for "Subset Assembly". I get the popup in both the IR and ID but the "Subset Assembly" checkbox is not part of the window.
The docs are somewhat unclear in this area. It alludes to seeing this option after the initial migration to Prod is done (which again we have not done yet), but only mentions this in the context of the ID. Another doc alludes to seeing Emergency Transports created in CONS (QA) as if that may be a pre-req to having that option, but is a weak reference.
    Can you advise on:
    1) Do you see the "Subset Assembly" option in the popup?
    2) If so:
    a) Did you see it prior to the inital migration to Prod?
    b) Do you see it for both the Directory and Repository in the Transport Studio Assembly?
    3) Any other thoughts on why I'm encountering this issue?
    Thanks for your help!
    Darin

  • PCD Content Transport Issues

    Hi All,
We have an issue while transporting PCD content.
The PCD content is the delta link copy of the Business Package (from Content Provided by SAP folder). We have copied the standard content to custom folder as delta link and did few modifications on the roles.
NOTE: The name space of the PCD content is not changed. It remains "com.sap.pct"
We were able to transport this successfully to the quality portals earlier via CTS transport process.
Now, we had a change to make in the development and after making the change when we are trying to transport the content via CTS, it is not getting imported to the Q portals.
I have searched on the transport set up and limitations and came to know that any PCD object with sap namespace would not be exported to the package. But, I was able to export the content to the transport request earlier as well as now. Earlier, when we did this, it got successfully imported to the Q portals. But, now it is throwing error.
We are using SAP NW Portal 7.3.
****Also, can any one please help me understand if this transport limitation of not able to transport PCD objects with sap namespace applies to 'File System' mode of transport as well? I am asking this because we are able to transport successfully via File System transport.
Thanks in advance for all your replies and support regarding this.
    Regards,
    Murthy.

    hi
You can only export resource bundles if you have write permission for these objects. You can find resource bundles in the Portal Catalog by calling them with System Administration ® Permissions. All administrators other than the superadministrator can access the folder for the resource bundles as „read-only“ in the standard delivery.

  • Pcd content transport

    Hi,
I am transporting the content from dev to qa. I was looking into pcdstartup.properties.. found a couple which i didnt understand.
    1. Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeSystemObjects
in doc, it is said that it  decides whether or not the objects in the SAP namespace initially delivered by SAP are excluded from the export.
    but the property
Pcd.TransportApplication.ProtectedNamespaces already provides that, i.e. this already avoids the exporting of portal content in com.sap namespace.
could someone please distingush between these two,
    2. Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeObjectTypes
    AfterRuleProcessing
    and Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.
    ExcludeObjectTypes
the difference would be transporitng resource bundles, but why would someone just transport resource bundles in a par file, without transporting the actual par file.
could some please clarify this to me
    thank you

  • Transport Strategy

    Hi All,
We have a brand new BI 7.0 system. We have finished our development. I had few question with regards to transports. We are implementing FICO area. Please advise.
This is what I am planning to do:
    1) Collect all InfoObjects into a Transport Request.  (This is Transported First).
Drag an Infoprovider and only select the InfoObjects to Transport.
Settings for this in Transport Connection is <b>Grouping</b>  "Necessary Objects" and <b>Collection mode</b> is "Collect Automatically".
    2) Collect all FICO Master Data along with Texts into a Request. (This includes transfer rules/update rules, InfoSources,Communication/Transfer Structures, Routines, InfoAreas and Application.
Settings for this in Transport Connection is <b>Grouping</b>  "In Data Flow Before" and <b>Collection mode</b> is "Collect Automatically".
    3) Collect and Transport DSO's, Cubes.
    4) Collect and Transport Multi-provider, InfoSets.
My question is with regards to Master Data (step 2):
Can I bundle all of Master Data into one request?  My concern is that the request is going to have lot of objects. But, If I decide to split then I have to worry about sequencing the order of Transports. Can somebody Please share your thoughts on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    bw_newbie

    Hi,
Your second request would fail becuase it wont be able to find the targets for the update rules.
I would suggest you the other way round
infocatalogs and infoareas in one request.
put all infoobjects in one request including text.
all ods and cube in one request infact all the data targets can be put in one request
    infosouce in one request
    update rules in one
    all reports in one
and transport in the order mentioned below
1)r/3 transports first, dont forget to replicate the datasoucre
    2) Infocatalogs and infoareas
    3) infoobjects
    4) infosource
    5) ODS,cubes,Multiproviders
    6) Update rules.
    7) Reports
    assign points if applicable
    Thanks

  • Tp executes 10 second sleep function for every transport step

I am currently working on a problem related to performance of transports. In all of the environments i work with (about 50 in total), be it DEV,ACC,QAS,SBX or PRD, i have noticed considerable delays when tp is performing an import. This delay is occurring for every step that has to kick off an RDD-job. The jobs themselves finish very quickly, within 1 or 2 seconds.  I very much convinced tp is waiting for 10 seconds exactly after kicking off a job in SAP via a trigger.  After tracing tp with flags '-t' and 'tf=' i noticed in the trace references to this 10 second wait. I did debug one of the latest tp versions on a Windows platform and found the code that does this. A PUSH of the number 10 and a CALL to a sleep routine. When you execute this code and time it it takes 10 seconds before tp comes back and then start checking the successful completion of the job it kicked off. I have changed the value of 10 to 1 with a hex editor and now the delay is only 1 second and my transports are still running fine. The duration of a very simple transport with 4 steps inside a batch job in SAP dropped from 45 to 5 seconds.
Perhaps you think, why bother at all, but when you consider that these steps are executed multiple times per transport (sometimes even 10 times or more) and that frequently bundles are imported where several thousands of transports go in you understand why i am persuing a better solution.
There may be a valid reason why tp is waiting, but then the mechanism has to improve.
My question is, has somebody also noticed that tp is unnecessarily delaying the imports and what have you done to investigate ?
Can somebody confirm what i am claiming ?
Thanks in advance, Peter van der Woude

For those of you who are interested in speeding up their imports without having to use 'import all' version 340.16.25 will be released shortly. In this version the sleeps are reduced from 10 to 1 second per transport step. Average transport times should drop between 40 to 50 seconds. Depending on the contents the gain could also be only 20 seconds.

  • How to replicate bundle from Author to Publish

    Hi,
I have published a java bundle by right clicking and select 'Build Bundle' on the 'bnd' file, the bundle gets deployed properly on the 'Author' instance, but the 'publish' instance deploy failed.
The code currently works in 'Author'.
How do I replicate the bundle from Author to Publish? Does 'Build Bundle' only deploy the bundle to 'Author'? If yes, step by step how do I replicate the bundle to Publish?
    Thanks.

The canonical answer would be: Put the bundle into a CRX package (path: /apps/<appname>/install) and then upload the package to the instances you want to deploy the package.
If you want to transport that package via replication, it will work. But be aware, that then you deploy it to all publishs more or less in parallel, which might be an unwanted behaviour. The usual trick is to partition your publishs into 2 distinct sets. One set is active and receives requests by the loadbalancer, the other is idle and does not receive any requests from the loadbalancer in front of them.
Then reconfigure the replication agents pointing to the active set of publishs, and change their port to an unused one. This prevents that the replication is successfully working to this publishs, but the agents do still accept replication requests from the authors (but they are not executed). If you activate then the package, the package will be replicated only to the idle set of publishs and is installed there. Then switch the configuration for both sets of publishs and make the active set the idle one and vice versa. Now you only need to wait until the replication queues to the (new) idle set of publishs is emptry and the package is installed. Now all publishs have the new package installed and you can configure all replication agents back to "normal" settings.
That's a common deployment strategy used by many projects. If done properly you don't face any problems on your live site.
    cheers,
    Jörg
