Burn 2 DVD's at once.

Hey everyone,
A quick question. In my Quicksilver 867 Mhz, i have the original Pioneer Superdrive. I just recently added a BENQ DD DVD EW162I usb dvd writer with help from Patchburn. It recognizes all DVD's and CD's perfectly and all my burning programs recognize it w/o any problems. Is it possible to burn two dvd's using the superdrive and my new external burner or is the G4 system not adequate.

Hello! It may be possible but doing so will choke an 867 mhz machine down especially if the ram is less than 2 gigs. It also has to create temp files as large as the cd/dvd so if you try be sure it has several dozen gigs of FREE space. Tom

  • Burn multiple dvd's at once

Does anyne know if there is a way or a program to burn multiple dvd's to let's say 4 firewire dvd burners at the same time? This may be a stupid question but I really don't want to buy a duplicator if I can buy 4 firewire burners and use them at the same time. Has anyone done this?

An application called Dragon Burn can burn multiple DVDs simultaneously.

Once I've burned a DVD by exporting photos so a pc can read them, is there a way to view them full screen on my Mac without having to open each one in preview?

You would have to import them to iPhoto, iPhoto cannot work with images that are not in its library.
You might try some of the other viewers out there.

  • Once I burn to DVD the footage is zoomed-in, edges cut-off

Once burned to DVD my video is zoomed in (the edges are getting cut-off. And the clips I put in reverse are blurry.

No, I'm not using the same monitor to edit as I am to watch the DVD.
I shot 24P. I burned using iDVD just to test to see how it looked on the TV monitor. I played it on numerous DVD players and the sides of the frame are getting clipped.
To reverse the clip, I'm opening the Speed option and simply clicking reverse. Is there a better way? It plays fine in the timeline but appears murcky and blurry when burned to DVD.
I'm exported by using File/Export/Quictime movie. Is that the best way to retain the best quality, or is there a better way?

  • Sound problems with film made in iMovie when burned to DVD in iDVD

    PLEASE HELP!!!
I have upgraded to iLife 09 and for all the bad that people have to say, I actually like it a lot. Anyway, it gave me the encouragement I needed to play with some old home movies I had stored with the aim of producing DVDs to give to my friends, and hopefully showing off the slick production values I have come up with.
So after spending a week getting to grips with iMovie and editing an old holiday film with all the cuts, transitions, chapter markers and music etc that I wanted, I ended up with an hour long movie that I was happy with.
Then to iDVD. After trying out all sorts of ways to go from iMovie to iDVD to ensure the best quality, I have finally given up trying to replicate the on screen quality of the movie in iMovie with the finished DVD, and just opted for the easy to use 'share to iDVD' option. The quality is not great, but then the footage is old anyway so not too much of an issue.
Then I spend another few days playing with and learning iDVD and again end up with a finished product that I am happy with, with nice looking menu's and a slideshow etc.
So I come to burn the final DVD, for which I pick the 'Professional burn' option which takes 4 hours but I am happy to wait if it means the best quality possible, and my DVD is done.
I then play the DVD to discover my problem - the sound in the movie is not right. To explain further, in my movie I have reduced the sound of some of the film clips to nothing and placed music over the top. When played and previewed in iMovie it works fine - the music plays and the sound that is attached the the video does not. When previewed in iDVD it works fine - just as I had edited it in iMovie. But then when I burn the DVD, some of these sounds are present again which completely wastes all my hard work at the editing stage.
I have searched and searched for help on this but am unable to find any.
Sorry for the very long description and story behind my issue, but it is massively frustrating. Basically, at some point during the 'burn to DVD' stage in iDVD it decides to completely ignore most of the sound edits I have made on the movie in iMovie.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks. Looking at that thread it looks like there are a few others having the same issue as me. Might be to do with not using the predetermined rates for clip slowdown and inputting my own.
The frustrating thing is that I have only done this once right at the start of my hour long movie and if I change it now it with though the timing of my whole film out.
Not much else I can do though I suppose.

  • Need HELP to burn 35 DVDs very URGENT !!!

I have created a 16/9 screen DVD, size 451 Mo.
    Problem 1:
When I register it as Disk image, I cannot open it on my HD to preview before burn it. When I click on the icon, it says "specify application", so I put iDVD, but it doesn't open. So I burn my project directly from iDVD. It takes time. I need to burn 35!!! Is there is possibility to fixe it, or I have to encoder every time I have to burn the same DVD?
    Problem 2:
When I burn my project to DVD-R x16 Verbatim, using "Optimal quality" or "Optimal performances", my quality image is suffering. Pixels are becoming too big (like 1mmx1mm mosaique), so it is difficult to read text and to see pictures. My original project is perfect. I thought I was DVD quality, because I was using DVD+R x16 verbatim. But it seems to be iDVD problem.
Thank to all who know anything about and can help. I have to deliver the project by the end of this week.

    Problem 1 Follow these directions:
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • How do I burn a DVD on my new iMac to play on external DVD player

I have a new iMac at work (3.5 GHz Intel Core i7), running on OS X Yosemite, and I'm trying to figure out how to burn a DVD that can be played on an external DVD player. I have a disc burner connected, but just noticed that iDVD (the way I used to burn video files) is no longer part of my installed applications.
    Thanks for any help.
    JC

If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Softwareor eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
If you're creating a slideshow in iPhoto and want to add it to an iDVD project export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Backups to same DVD more than once

I have just started to use PSE 7 and have moved all my photos into it.  I did the initial backup to a DVD but now that I want to backup my new pictures, it seems to want a new DVD.  I don't take all that many pictures so it would take me some months fill up a DVD.  It doesn't seem to like DVD-R and with DVD-RW, it tells me there is something on the DVD and do I want to erase it.  How do I use PSE7 to backup or copy pictures to the same DVD more than once?  Thanks.

As far as I know, one can burn contents to a DVD only once...
If you’re using a DVD-RW you have to erase the old contents first...
On can burn a CD several times until filled up though...
You might consider using an external Firewire Hard-drive for your backup...?

  • HT1479 I would like to know how to burn a dvd in such a way that each image can be skipped over by pressing the skip button.

I would like to know how to burn a dvd in such a way that each image can be skipped over by pressing the skip button? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Here's how top get a slideshow that will let the viewer manually control the forward and backward movement of the slides with the forward and back buttons on the DVD remote.
1 - put the images you want to use in an iPhoto album.
2 - launch iDVD, select a theme and add a slideshow using the "+" button at the bottom:
3 - click on the Media button at the lower right hand corner of the window and then click on the Photos button.
4 - locate the iPhoto album containing your photos and drag it into the left hand pane:
5 - select Side Duration to Manual.
In order to get the maximum manual control of the slides you cannot have add any music to the slideshow.  If you do add music the slideshow will continue you advance unless you pause the slideshow and/or use the advance/back buttons and then pause.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • I can't burn a DVD

I have Adobe Elements 10 on my windows 8 computer. For a year it was working fine, but ever since I had to go back to 8 after my computer updated to 8.1, the program won't let me burn DVD's. I have a connection to the burner and it goes through all of the encoding process but once it is done, I check the disc and there is nothing on it.

No, that is not what Steve said... when you are ready to publish/share to a DVD, you simply select a folder on your hard drive instead of burning a DVD
That folder will contain the exact file structure and files that you would burn to a DVD, only on your hard drive
You then use a program like Imgburn (which is aware of DVD structure) to burn to the actual DVD
Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1322583 for notes on installing Imgburn WITHOUT any toolbar add-ons... Set Imgburn to use the slowest burn speed your drive and media will use... I set my burn speed to 1x and let Imgburn adjust to the actual minimum

  • Burning a DVD is no longer possible...HELP!

I have an eMac 800 mhz G4 with 1gb RAM running OS X 10.4.6 and for some reason I can no longer burn a DVD. I am still able to burn CDs with no problem and DVD-R or DVD-ROMs mount with no problem. Whenever I start to burn the DVD it starts the process and then 20-30 seconds later it abruptly closes the session and reports 'Drive failed to respond properly' and ejects the disk. I have tried burning in Finder, Toast 7, LiquidCD, etc. all with the same result. Does anyone have any idea whats up and is there any way to fix this problem?

    Hi
The error log doesnt provide any very useful information.
According to this error log the simulation was running correct but the burning process was not started.
In such case its very hard to say why it happens. Possibly the drive is damage and cannot calibrate the lens properly or you use not compatible medias.
The burning process depands also on the fiels and data which youwant to burn.
Some data, CD, DVDs are encrypted and its not possible to burn and to copy it.
In other case you could also try to burn the medias with lower speed and not with 24x.
But in worth case you the drive has a malfunction and you have to replace it ;(

  • Burning a DVD from CS4 on a Windows 7 computer

I'm unable to burn a DVD from the edited timeline in CS4.   I have Windows 7 Home Premium software loaded on my PC.  When I go from Dynamic Link to Encore I get an error message stating Encore is not compatible with my PC.  How can I burn a DVD using CS4 and Windows 7?

Some people have problems with Dynamic Link, so first do it the old fashioned way to see if Encore works at all

As well as the below, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator, which is NOT the same thing as running the computer with the Administrator account, and which fixes several "odd" problems... To create a dual layer DVD (or a BluRay?), you MUST have Encore set to use the Run as Administrator option

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the slowest possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim dual layer
Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable dual layer

  • Burning a dvd

I copied a VHS tape onto a DVD+R disc. Now I want to make an additional copy of the DVD disc I made from the vhs tape. Can someone please tell me if I use Imovie or Idvd to produce it?
    Thanks(I'm very new at this)

Now I want to make an additional copy of the DVD disc I made from the vhs tape. Can someone please tell me if I use Imovie or Idvd to produce it?
iMovie does not "burn" DVDs so if your iDVD project has already been erased, your would have to go through the entire process of sending/opening your iMovie project in iDVD to re-create a DVD burn. If you still have the iDVD project, you can burn another DVD by simply pressing the "Burn" button. The mount of time the burn takes will depend on whether or not you have made an major changes to the project, whether these changes have already been re-encoded in the background, and/or how extensive/compext your menu is and how difficult it is to re-encode. If you previously created/saved an "Image" of your iDVD DVD, then you need only burn this image as many times as needed.
If you have a copy of the previously burned DVD available and other applications like Toast, then you can "copy-burn" your "original" DVD directly or burn a copy from the VIDEO_TS folder contained on the DVD. Another option would be to to drop your VIDEO_TS folder icon or DVD icon to a free utility like DVD Imager which can automatically create an image file from either source that can then be burned using Toast or Apple's Disk Utility application in your "Applications > Utilities" folder.
If you don't have any third-party applications, you can manually perform the same work flow entirely from within the Apple "Disk Utility" application. In this case,
    1) Open the Disk Utility application
    2) Press the New Image icon button
    3) When the new window opens,
... a) Enter a "Save As:" name for the image file to be stored on your hard drive
... b) Enter a "Volume Name:" which is the name of your DVD
... c) Select an appropriate "Volume Size:" (e.g., 4.7 GB DVD option)
    4) Wait for the image file to be created on your hard drive and then mounted
    5) When the image file is mounted, open its window and "drag 'n drop" the AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS, and any other extraneous folders present to the Image file.
    6) Once all files are copied to the Image file, return to Disk Utility and select the Image (".dmg") file in the list
    7) With the Image file selected, press the "Burn" icon button and follow instructions for burning your DVD.
This work flow is generic and should work with any OS X Mac having the Disk Utility application which has been around for some time. Its advantage is that the image file you create can be used more or less like a "virtual DVD-RW" disk on your hard drive. If left on your drive, you can burn additional copies of the image any time you want and/or, depending on its location, it can be mounted and played back in applications like the Apple DVD Player or Front Row. Since the data is stored on your hard drive, it eliminates the need for two optical drives or the continuous switching of discs for copying DVDs using certain older DVD copy applications. When no longer needed, it can be deleted entirely, or its contents can be removed and the image file re-used in much the same way as any re-writable optical disc. The disadvantage is that it takes up space on your hard drive. Basically it is a trade off between convenience in your ability to access content and the space required to store it.

  • TS1368 I keep getting this error message and can't open the iTunes store. I've reinstalled iT a half dozen times with no results. "Registry settings used by the iT drivers for importing & burning CDs & DVDs are missing" reinstall iTunes

I can't open the iTunes store and keep getting this error message. "Registry settings used by the iT drivers for importing & burning CDs & DVDs are missing. Reinstall iTunes." I've reinstalled iT a half dozen times with no results.

You might have two different things going on at once here.
Starting with the registry settings message.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
