Burn a 150 minutes Full HD into a dvd

Hello, I have a 150 minutes full hd video clip. is it possible to burn whole clip into one dvd ? if YES, is it clear ? if No, should i split into 2 DVDs ? and what is the best bitrate (VBR 2 pass) for 90 or 150 minutes video ? does it have forumla or something ?

DVD is standard definition, not HD. And yes, you can burn 150 minutes onto one DVD. If it is single layer, the quality hit may be more than you want. If you go to a dual layer DVD, you must have a layer break, and each part (before and after the break) must be smaller than half the disk. Remember that a DVD is not really 4.7 gig...
Search this forum for "HD to SD." In versions of Premiere Pro/Adobe Media Encoder since CS6, you can use the "scale to fill" crop setting to handle the small black bars that appear if you scale down HD to SD without any cropping.
Bitrate calculator:
http://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php
(Your 150 minutes with a 192mb audio stream on a single layer disk gives an average bitrate of 3750 - probably not good quality. On a dual layer disk, 7000.)
Jeff Pulera's shorthand:
"When encoding MPEG-2 DVD in AME, a good way to estimate encoding rate is 560/minutes = rate. Your example of 115 minutes comes out to about 4.8 data rate, maybe go 4.7 for safety. For shorter vids, consider 8 as a max rate for video (audio gets added on top of that)."
(Your 150 here, gives 3733.)

Does anyone know why- when I import a one minute video project into Final Cut X from I Movie the resolution that looked alright full screen in I Movie instantly becomes worst on full screen in Final Cut X...but clear again when I stop it to still position?

I'm new to video editing but I think I recall seeing an option in FCPX which lets you choose the video quality for the preview window. I think the window reduces the quality when playing back for performance reasons and so perhaps that is why it seems to have less quality when moved over to FCPX? Just a possibility, I'm sure one of the more experienced users can confirm or deny this theory.

  • Burning AVCHD footage in full HD (1920 X 1080)?

I am trying to burn AVCHD footage (taken with a SONY CX7) imported in Full HD in iMovie 08. I would like to burn in Full HD (1920 X 1080) so that I can play the results on a Bluray player. My choices with Mac and iMovie 08 seem limited to 960 X 540. On a PC and using SONY Motion Picure Browser I can burn in Full HD easily. Should I not be able to do the same with iMovie 08? I am new to iMovie, I love the interface and the very smooth scene transitions (compared to XP and SONY MPB) but so far the better resolution of XP/MPB generated footage really makes a difference when viewed on a 46" LCD monitor. Is there a solution?

This is the 'gotcha' that got me and for over a week no one responded to my exact question you are asking...I'll save you the grief of asking this same question repeated times on several different Mac forums. After over a week of investigating, reading and learning more about HD video, I realized that iMovie only allows you edit, not burn.
Burning is done through iDVD and iDVD DOES NOT BURN HIGH DEF VIDEO.....PERIOD....or specifically, does not "author" HD video.
When you export to iDVD, it will only encode/transcode/convert (what ever you want to call it) into standard DVD format...aka for 480p/i playback. Kind of a bummer and almost useless to 'support' HD video if you can't produce a high def video for distribution...after all, that's the whole hook with the iLife suite....right?
After some more investigation I found a few interesting solutions.
    1.) Roxio Toast.
--> According to the product information. It allows you to burn videos to BluRay. However, I'm still trying to figure out if that means "produces" bluray content or just allows you to burn an already-made composition to BluRay disk.
    2.) DVD Studio Pro 4
--> DSP 4 can take several different video formats/resolution and author them into an HD DVD format.
However, this is a pro-level application and far too complicated and expensive for just HD burning.
3.) MovieFactory 6 Plus for Windows
--> MF 6+ can actually take your HD video and burn an HD DVD or BluRay format disk onto a standard DVD or DVD DL that will play in either type of player (depending on format). About 40 - 45 minutes of HD video will fit on a DL disk.
However, since this is a Windows program, you'd also have to run Parallels or some other Windows virtualization to run it. I don't know if MF6+ is compatable with AVCHD format.
Of course, any of these options would require you to have a high-def capable player (hd-dvd or bluray player). Possibly a cheaper option is a used mac-mini connected to your TV and use it as a media server. Just copy the files over to the mini and use it as a player.

  • "150 minute Best Quality" should fit on DVD, right?

I just waited 24 hours for Compressor to encode an SD project in "DVD Best Quality 150 minutes 16:9" and it shows in DVD SP as being 5.5 GB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would it do that????? It won't burn!!!!! Now I have to encode yet again!!!
I just wasted mucho time waiting for a file that SHOULD have fit on a regular DVD.
    What am I missing?

Hey I know the feeling it can be really frustrating.
It happened to me once and what I did was I found a good free "DVD calculator" here Before I throw it into compressor I run it through the calculator to make sure it will fit and know exactly what my settings need to be before hand.
So far no problems what so ever since and what is also awesome is that it does BlueRay calculations as well.

  • How to burn full hd clips onto dvd-r with Blu-ray burner to playback on a set top Blu-ray player?

    hello,
Blu-ray media is still expensive for exporting of small HD projects.
    If i have a Blu-ray burner,
can i burn BD exports onto DVD-r's (4.7Gb)
and play them in a set top Blu-ray player?
aka:  Does a DVD-r accept a 'blue laser'?
(Menus at this point are not necessary)
Mostly i am wanting to burn 3-4 minute music videos onto DVD-r discs
in full HD Blu-ray without having to use an expensive Blu-ray disc each time.
    thanks
    j

    hello,
at this time the answer is yes
they are called BD5 and BD9 discs
the BD5 is a single layer DVD-r disc that holds BDMV
the BD9 is a dual layer DVD-r disc that holds BDMV
now i'm trying to see if Encore CS5 burns BD5/BD9 discs?
    thanks,

  • Is it possible to burn a movie in full HD quality?

Is it possible to burn a movie in full HD quality?

    Hi,
I found the solution to this after two days of head scratching and frustration.  Here are some of the things I noticed in my investigation of the problem, and the solution:
iDVD does NOT FULLY/CONSISTENTLY support HD or footage that is imported from FCP X -- when it is rendered you will get reduced quality visuals in your DVD.
Using the "create disk image" option to create your DVD has the same end result.
I found my way to success the following way:
Save your original file from FCP X -- note its file size.  If it's a .MOV file you will need to recreate and save to your hard drive because you will need am mpeg file.  Your original .mov file is now simply a reference.
Use FCP X to create an mpeg version of your footage from its share options.
Once done, note the SIZE of the file -- it should be larger than your original file.
Purchase Toast if you don't have it -- I am not a representative for the company... I just like what works --(or use DVD Studio Pro, if you have it) to create your DVD  ~ DO NOT USE iDVD FOR NEXT STEPS ~
    Toast screen shot below:
In Toast, select Video, HD DVD and name your file.  Note the size of the file in the bottom of the window... it should be the same as the mpeg file... if you notice the file size is smaller (or the same as the original file size) you have a setting wrong.
(Since I used Toast I won't reference DVD Studio Pro here... don't want to make this response longer then needed...).
Once you verify the correct file size, make any other selections/changes you like for your DVD, then burn it.
You should end up with a DVD with the quality you are after.
    Good Luck!

  • IPhoto doesn't burn-says blank disk full

I was burning CDs from iPhoto5 from G4 Powerbook (OS 10.3.9) with no problem. Using external LaCie burner as PB has read-only drive. Now upon selecting "Share-Burn disc" and inserting blank disc, iPhoto shows disc full or partially full. If click Burn button, it says full or too little space (one time when it claimed full it did proceed to burn anyway).
Trying other CD-R makes and repairing permissions did not help. Suggestions?

Did you check with LaCie to see it there is a patch or that other users may have had similiar problems.
The Get Info does not show the comments that I added to a photo in the comments area of iPhoto in the Information box. I labled a photo dragged it to my desktop. Went to Get Info; which gave all the essential description of the photo but did not give the comments that I added. Get Info gave me; the Image type, size, when created, last modified, pixel dimensions, but not comments. So that will probably not help you.
It sounds like a software problem, It seems to me if it burns with one application it should with another unless the software doesn’t recognize what its reading. I don’t have Toast so I’m not sure why it seems to work. If I were you I would continue to use toast for burning until LaCie has an answer.
There is one other thing that I would try. When you install a new device or application that has software. The application places a file in your Preferences folder that has an extension (identity) > .plist (preference list) some times when an application starts acting strangely the .plist, a very small file gets corrupted. The fix for this is to go to the > User folder > Library > find the > Preference folder > look for a file that contains LaCie or if the burnner has a model name, and with a file extension > .plist drag this file to your desktop. When you open an application or possibly a hardware item that wrote a .plist it will write a new one. If that was the problem it will be fixed. The reason I mentioned dragging to the desktop is just to make sure that the file was a .plist. My Epson printer has 3 .plist my scanner has a .plist. You can find out quickly by typing LaCie and .plist in the Spotlight search in any Finder window. Usually a key word followed by .plist will be enought to find a file and there may be more than one .plist. If you find one it is a good idea to actually drag it from the Preference folder not the finder window.
I sincerely hope that you can resolve this issue soon.

  • More than 150 minutes

    Hi there,
    Happy new year to all...
I am working on a long project of 2h40 minutes
Compressor shows options for compressing up to 150 minutes.
Can I use this setting (Highest qulity DVD 150 minutes) for my project or will it be truncqted ?
    Thanks in advance
    Ivan

You can use any setting you'd like in compressor.
But it might not fit on a standard single layer DVD. I can about guarantee that.

How do I burn a song without it going into an album

    Hi Rusty Bucket Head,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  If your song is incomplete when you try to play it, you can delete it and try redownloading it as described here:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If the second download still has the same issue, you can report the issue to the iTunes Store by following this article:

  • If I actually import full files into FCP, can I then drop source files into the trash?

If I actually import full files into FCP, can I then drop source files into the trash?   I'm editing now and want to free up HD space.

Just to confirm: in Preferences, Import, Files..."copy to library storage location" is selected.
So I assume I can dispose of source files.
Thanks for quick reply and also the the cautionary note.
This is low-level family footage I export to .mov and share on YouTube, so originals are not critical.

  • Delete and full load into ODS versus Full load into ODS

Can someone please advise, that in the context of DSO being populated with overwrite function, would the FULL LOAD in following two options (1 and 2) take the same amount of time to execute or one would take lesser than the other. Please also explain the rationale behind your answer
    1. Delete of data target contents of ODS A, Followed by FULL LOAD into ODS A, followed by activation of ODS
    2. Plain FULL LOAD into ODS A (i.e. without the preceeding delete data target contents step), Followed by activation of ODS
Repeating the question - whether FULL LOAD in 1 will take the same time as FULL LOAD in 2, if one takes lesser than the other then why so.
Context : Normal 3.5 ODS with seperate change log, new and active record tables.

    Hi,
I think the main difference is that you with the process "Delete and full load" you will only get the full loaded data inside the dso. With full load you the system uses the modify logic (overwrite for all datasets already in the dso) and insert for all new datasets which are not inside yet inside the dso

  • IDVD 08, dual layer DVD doesn't burn last 2 minutes of audio

    Hello,
iDVD 08, dual layer DVD doesn't burn last 2 minutes of audio, I get perfect audio/video through the whole DVD except the last 2 minutes or so...
I'm burning a 3 hour DVD on iDVD 08. I'm burning it only a DL+R Dual Layer disc. I've burned with "high quality" compression, "professional quality" compression. I've even burned the last 2 minutes of the timeline just to make sure it wasn't the quicktime file and the video and audio played fine.
The size of the project in the setting reads the project as 6.5 GB out of the 7.7 available on the disc.
So why does it always cut off the audio the last 2 minutes of the DVD? Any suggestions?

Try making a disc image to the desktop (from the file menu in iDvd) and see if it plays fine with apple's dvd player app.

  • Convert Full datasource into delta

    Hello,
We are facing a problem. We have a custom datasource that works as a full, because a delta is not possible on the sources tables in ECC (parked FI documents).
We need to convert this dataflow to a delta, because the dataflow will be crossed with other data (posted documents and more), and we don't want all our modell going full.
Is there a way in BI 7.0 to convert a full datasource into delta for further processing? I thought this functionality was available in BI 7.0, but could'nt find how to do it.
    Thanks,
    Philippe

    Hi,
If the DS is not delta enabled try Fake delta or Pseudo delta.
Try to see if you can create a user exit at extractor level to select data based on some time stamp fields whcih will ensure that only changed or new records are coming into BW.
    Refer
    Fake Delta
    Pseudo delta
    Fake Delta
    Data Recovery in delta loading
    Hope this helps.
