Burn a slideshow without a menu to dvd-r

Help! I'm trying to create a self-running dvd-r to be played tomorrow saturday oct 1 on a widescreen plasma tv monitor without using any of the iDVD menus.
I tried to use the quicktime export to iDVD in iPhoto, and then just copying the .mov file to the dvd-r but the player doesn't recognize it.
Is there a way to add _TS information? Any help would be appreciated.

Not 100% certain so I went to the help menu in hopes of finding a possible quick solution for you. Don't know if you have already read this but i will post it here in case you have not:
Looping movies and slideshows
Instead of returning to the menu after playback, you can set slideshows or movies to "loop," or repeat from the beginning. When a slideshow finishes, it starts over with the first slide of the slideshow. When a movie finishes, it loops to the first scene of the movie.
If there is background audio for the slideshow, the audio restarts from the beginning when the first slide appears.
You can loop any movie or slideshow. Looping is turned on automatically in a menu with a drop zone.
To turn on looping for a movie or a slideshow in the main iDVD window, select the movie or slideshow button on the DVD menu. Choose Advanced > Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow. To turn off looping, choose Advanced > Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow again.
To turn on looping for a movie or a slideshow (including autoplay movies and slideshows) in map view, click Map. Select the movie or slideshow icon and choose Advanced > Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow. To turn off looping, choose Advanced > Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow again. Looping autoplay movies can be useful for creating self-playing presentations, such as kiosks.
To turn on looping for a slideshow in the slideshow editor, double-click the slideshow button in the menu to open the slideshow editor. Select the checkbox labeled "Loop slideshow." To turn off looping, click the checkbox to deselect it.
When looping is turned on for a selected movie or slideshow, a checkmark appears next to the Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow command in the Advanced menu, and a small gray icon appears in the lower-right corner of the movie or slideshow icon in map view.
To exit from looping when viewing the DVD, press the menu button on the DVD remote control.
Good Luck and please post back and tell us how you finally decided to addressed this isssue.

  • Burn a slideshow to play in a dvd

Can I burn a slideshow to play in a dvd player?

Yes. Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • HT1103 How can I burn a slideshow (with sound) to a DVD.  I have an imac desktop.

Does anyone know how to burn a slideshow to a dvd disc.  It has pictures, video and music.  LLaBant

To create a video DVD disk that can be played in set top DVD players and shown on a TV set you need a DVD video authoring application, like iDVD.  If you do not have iDVD on your Mac you'll have to purchse it by bying a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com.
Why iLife 09 and not 11:
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.

1 - once you have iDVD installed export the slideshow out of iPhoto at Size = Medium or Large:
2 - 0pen iDVD, select your theme and drag the exported movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
3 - follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:

To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.

  • Can I burn a slideshow without music?

I created a simple slideshow in iPhoto, and it doesn't contain music (my choice). Now I want to use iDVD to burn it, but I can't seem to find a way to burn it without there being music attached. Is there a way to burn this project without a soundtrack?
My workaround is to import the .mov generated from iPhoto into Final Cut, render it, and export it for iDVD -- but is there an easier way? It's a pretty lengthy slideshow (~30 minutes), and my Mac is more than capable of doing it, but I feel like there just has to be a different way.
    TIA.

we read reports a while ago, that projects without any audio could force iDVD to behave odd (=endless encoding/freeze....)
the workaorund for that was, to create a 'silent' audio clip...
use any audio app (Garageband, Audacity, ....) to create 30secs of 'nil' ... silence, zero, nada...
use this .aiff to underlay your slideshow...

  • How do I burn a slideshow from iPhoto to a DVD?

How do I burn a slidshow from iPhoto to a DVD?

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
    Other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate

  • Unable to burn iPhoto slideshow without a theme in iDVD

I transferred my slideshow from iphoto using the menu item "Share with iDVD" I want my slideshow to start automatically so I drag my slideshow to the first box. My problem is with the Theme. I don't want to use any theme at all. If I leave it in the 2nd slot and hit Burn it gives me an error "There were warnings during the project validation. It is recommended that you fix these problems before burning the project." I need to make multiple copies of this slideshow and I'm way behind the deadline. Any advice you can give me? This is my first time to use iDVD.
    Thanks, Dee

You have to have a theme and menu. It's the nature of iDVD. Select the simplest theme you can find and add a plain black image file for the background. You can set the text color to black also so when the slideshow is finished all you'll get is a black screen on the TV. Or you might just set the text to white, change the buttopn text to Play. When the slideshow finishes playing one time you'll end back at a black screen with a simple Play button.

  • Burning a slideshow to DVD

I have spent a total of 4 hours over 2 days at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store and NO ONE can figure out my problem! Maybe someone out there is able to help me??
I have a slideshow I created in iPhoto that I need to put on a DVD. Everytime I finish the menu portion and go to burn, it quits after a few minutes and gives me the following error "Error during rendering/encoding: there was an error during rendering/encoding of the menus/slideshows. Burning process aborted."
I know that the burner works because my husband burned a DVD of my daughter's birthday using iMovie.
    1) Does anyone know what could cause this? This iBook G4 is brand new so memory is no problem.
    2) Does anyone know if you must have one of the menu choices or can you skip that part and just burn the slideshow with no menu beginning?
This is really stumping everyone I've talked to. I even went so far as to purge all the photos and rescan them thinking maybe something was corrupt in the photos. Of course, that solution did not work. We also made an archive of the slideshow on CD and took it to another Mac in the store and it also failed to burn on the other computer as well.
Any ideas out there? Whoever solves this one will become the "Ultimate Mac Genius" forever.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I had that same problem awhile ago. When sending from IPhoto to Idvd, you can either send to Idvd, or export. I believe I just tried the other method, the export, then it worked and the funny thing is I was also able to go back to the old way after that one time and everything works fine again. A very vague answer I know, but it worked for me, hope it helps you.

  • Burning slideshows/movies on to one dvd and how do you do it?

I would like to know if you can burn several "slideshow / movies" onto a single DVD and how it's done. I am using Photoshop Premier Elements 8.

Yes it can be done by outputting each slideshow as separate clips and then bringing the clips together to form a single project for DVD output.
You will probably get better advice over at the Premier Elements forum.

  • How do you burn a slideshow to a DVD that will play on DVD players and PC computers?

I burned a slideshow in Aperture onto a DVD containing about 40 photos with a sound track from iTunes.  The disk will play on my iMac but not on my wife's PC or on two of our DVD players (less than three years old.).  What am I missing in the burning sequence that causes the problem?

What Shutttleworth says is the way to go however you might run into one gotcha, iDvd is no longer available if you bought your current machine with Lion on it.
iDvd use to be part of iLife but is no longer offered as either a seperate download from the App Store or as part of any App Store bundle. If you can still find an iLife boxed set iDvd will be on the DVD in the box. Other then that you'll need to look at thrid party solutions.
Of course if you upgraded to Lion and had iLife before the upgrade you should have a copy of iDvd.
    good luck

  • Hi... I am looking for an inexpensive app for my macbook pro that I can put pictures and videos together into a slideshow with captions and music WITHOUT a watermark and that also will burn the slideshow to a DVD in its own app. Help?

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.

  • Burning a dvd without a menu

    Hi
Im trying for a week now to burn a DVD from ProCS into Encore.
I mangae to get the video in but then got to build and get Title Remote not set. I want to build a DVD without a Menu just simply like the video says with out a menu. But I havent found it easy at all and you most definetly do need to know about Encore unlike wht the Video workshop says.
I just want to burn a DVD without a menu guys can you help?
    Branch

"Title Remote not set" isn't an error, but a warning. It means that if you don't set it, there will be no action for the [Title] key on the DVD player's remote control. If you don't want or need to support the [Title] key then there is no problem.
For a DVD without a menu simply add your video to a timeline, set the timeline as "First Play" and set the end action of the timeline either to link back to itself (for a looping presentation) or to stop.

  • My iMac "locks up" when I try to burn a slideshow made in iMovie to a DVD

When attempting to burn a slideshow I created in iMovie to a DVD (after exporting to iDVD), the video portion encodes without incident, but when the audio starts to encode, my computer "locks up." That is, the burn "wheel" stops turning, and I get a revolving color wheel at the pointer. I then can't exit iDVD, access any other application, or even shut down the computer. In fact, the only way I can shut the computer down is to turn off the power (i.e., disconnect the power cord). What makes this all the more frustrating is that I had no trouble of this kind the first time I tried burning a DVD from iMovie (a couple of months ago). It worked fine then.

Thanx. I guess that's a possibility. I waited for about an hour, however. I'll give it another try and see what happens.
It's likely not stalled but rather still encoding.
