Burn error with iPhoto 4

I was gonna burn about 2.4G of pics onto a DVD. When I tried i got a burn error, and had to throw away a DVD. I opened toast and when it started it stated that I had duplicates. I clicked so it wouldn't burn the duplicates and it burned normally. How do I find the duplicates and get rid of them?

Export the photos to a desktop folder, right click on the folder and burn to disk - see if that is any different

  • Front row error with IPhoto 6

When i'm using front row, and finish watching a slide show that I made with IPhoto, then select Library to see the slidshow of all my photos, it causes an error. It says "IPhoto is not responding. Press the play/pause button to return to the desktop". And when i return to the desktop, IPhoto opens, and the Library is selected under source on the left, but on the right it's trying to show a slideshow, but the image preview is black, and there are no thumbnails of the photos in the slideshow up top. So i click on Last Roll, or another album, but it is still showing the same black preview with no thumbnails. But when i click on the slideshow I last played, the preview loads, and all of the thumbnails are back, and basically it goes back to normal.
I provided all the details i could, if you need more info, just ask. This is the first problem i've had with my macbook, im still so glad i bought it.

Try deleting the Front Row preference file, com.apple.frontrow.plist.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • BURN PROBLEM WITH IPHOTO:

When I manually sort one of my albums and then burn a disc, the results never come out right. In other words, the sort never took place and the disc shows the original album.

    SIG,
I'm not quite there yet, but I think I am close. I was able to set up a new album, get the images manually sorted with a name, and now they all appear with numbers in order to my preferences.
Then I went to FILE>EXPORT dialogue box and selected USE TITLE.
Is there anything else that I should do within that box before I select EXPORT? Should the format be set to JPEG instead of original?
Your instructions then say: Sort on Filename in the Finder and you end up with a folder full of magest in the same order as the  Album in iPHOTO.  I'm a bit confused here.
    Thanks,

  • Post upgrade to Mountain Lion - no access and error with IPhoto

Hi, I work on MacBook Pro 17 inch with operating system OSX 10.8.1.  Since I have upgraded to Mountain Lion, I am unable to access IPhoto.  Whenever I enter the programme through the icon, I receive start up message stating 'updating thumbnails'.  After about 2 of minutes, it crashes and I receive error message as below.  What do I need to do fully operational IPhoto?

  • Front Row communications error with iPhoto

FR (1.2.1) refuses to run slideshows for me even though I can see changing thumbnails on the left-hand side of the screen. I keep getting "communications errors". Rebuilding my library hasn't helped. Can anyone help, please?
    17 Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Everything updated via Software Update, and Front Row works properly with everything except iPhoto.
I get the communication error message when trying to view photos, even though it can 'see' all the iPhoto folders, and also displays preview photos on the menu screen.
Would love to know if anyone has a fix yet.

  • DVD/TS will not burn - error with rendering menu video asset?

This 5-minute slideshow takes 45 minutes to prepare, then "could not burn", yet on my MacBook, a 10-minute slideshow took 3 minutes with flawless rendering/processing (granted I only had the 2 songs and 60 pics or so on my computer, not like my dumping ground iMac). I've spent 3 nights troubleshooting this. I have reinstalled Snow Leopard and repaired disk permissions. There are no yellow triangle/yield/error signs in the project.

Your comment about "dumping ground" suggests the hard disk may be too full. Even with a small project, you need a fair amount of space on the boot drive (your main hard disk) for iDVD to do all the processing. If you're under 10 gigs of available space, it may cause some trouble -- some around here recommend 15-20 gigs of free space when you're burning a DVD.

  • Disk Utility burn error with dmg file

I'm using a Pioneer DVR 106D to burn a dmg file on to a blank DVD. I've done it many times before with the disk utility.
But now I'm getting this message when I try to burn the dmg or make a new image off the old DVD master:
"Device drained its buffer without burn underrun protection"
Can anyone please tell me how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks
    OS 10.3.9

I have encountered the same problem. I have a Mac Book Pro from 2007, and it has gone through 3 DVD writers so far, all of which have ruined DVD+R DL disks. I have occasionally been able to burn one, but usually during verify, I get this error message:
Communication to the disk drive failed: 0x8002022
And disk utility fails with a "Invalid B-tree node size" error
Oddly, when I try to burn a disk near capacity (6.5Gb or more) it is more likely to fail than if I burn a smaller disk.
I've been using Memorex DVD+R DL disks, but I have used other brands in the past but they have failed, too. Out of about 50 disks so far, I have had success with about 5.

  • Error with burning slideshow presentation to dvd

i'm currently trying to make a dvd of my many pictures taken from vacation. when i take and export my slideshow from iphoto into idvd i can make all my menus and such just fine. when i got to burn i put my disc in and it renders all my menus and photos and then i always end up with an error at the end. either for the media or multiplexing and what not.
i am using a fairly old powermac..and a 3rd party burner. but the powermac uses the burner just fine for cds and such outta itunes. and the slow speed of the computer doesn't seem to affect it that much just in the time it takes for the whole process.
i've read plenty about making a .img file of the project and then burn that to dvd using toast or disk utility. the only problem with that is that i don't have toast...and disk utility wont allow me to play my dvd in my player...so
i'm curious if my computer is just to slow for this? or if i'm doing something wrong in idvd to make it not work? (i'm a total newbie to making dvds) or if there is some kidna other error? and is there a free alternative to toast?

    Hello Alarkin,
is there a free alternative to toast?
Yes, it's Disk Utility - just follow this procedure:
    1. create the disk image in iDVD
    2. double-click the resulting .img file to "mount" it. Next launch DVD Player to view your DVD .... if everything is fine, close DVD Player and eject the virtual disk.
    3. Open Disk Utility and drag the disk image into the left hand pane, then hit burn.
Note: Set the burn speed to 2x or even 1x. Most burn errors are the result of high burn speeds. Also use only high quality DVD-R media (e.g. Verbatim)
    hope this helps

  • IPhoto burn error

I have a powerbook G4 with updated iphoto 4. I tried to burn a copy of my photo library onto my sony internal burner but came up with: "sony CD-RW CRY800E drive failed. Unknown error (-2147352542)". I have previously been able to burn copies via iphoto. Why has it done so? It is able to copy the files but fails to burn it. Please help. There is sufficient disk space on the mac & CD. How do i get support for this issue?
    Thanks

How much "enough space"? If you're burning the images from within iPhoto, then you are creating an iPhoto CD. Such a disk will include supplemental iPhoto files in addition to the jpg images (and thus requiring 20-40% more space than the images require alone).
Try exporting (or "sharing") the chosen images to a folder on the desktop, then use the Finder to burn the folder to CD.

  • Cannot burn to DVD with iPhoto 5.0.4

Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem. I simply cannot burn my photos to DVD or CD. I was planning to make a backup copy of my summer photos and run into this problem. iPhoto starts the burning process and returns error with the DVD drive.
How much does iPhoto require free disk space on the boot volume? I currently have about 1.37 GB free. When I tried to burn I had over 2 GB free disk space.
Has anyone reported this problem to Apple yet?
By the way when I exported a couple photo albums from iPhoto it (iPhoto) flipped a couple of photos upside down. No, I didn't even touch the rotate button, the program did this on it own, none of those photos were even selected at the moment. I instally hit the revert to original button. I'm starting to get worried without current backup now. Strange things are happening...

1.37G is way too little! The system needs at least the size of the DVD as free space to burn. It's highly recommended that you have a minimum of 15% or 10G, whichever is greater, as free space to assure efficient and trouble free operation. If you get down really low and the system tries to write needed files to the HD you can trash you HD with little hope of recovery. I would do whatever it takes to get your free space up to around the recommended limit.
One way to get a little of it back is the following:
1 - run either Cache Out, OnyX or Mac Sweeper to clean out the various cache and archived log files.
2 - run Monolingual to remove the unneeded language modules. I saved 900+MB the first time I did it.
Do you have a camera that has an autorotate option? if so and it's turned on that may be the reason for the rotation issue. The 5.0.4 update corrects this but only for subsequent imports.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • I am trying to download my photos from my iphone to my mac-iphoto. It keeps trying but about halfway through it says there is an error with a photo therefore it wont download any of my pictures or videos.  It wont tell me which picture is the issue.

I took a lot of pictures and video on my recent trip to Ireland.  Now I am trying to download the photos and videos from my iphone to my mac - iphoto.  I have tried 3 times and each time (at a different point) I get a message telling me that there was an error with one of my photos and it wont load the pictures.  Help!!

Try using Image Capture to download to a folder on the Desktop.  If there's a damaged file on the iPhone that's preventing the download you can isolate it with Image Capture and then delete it from the iPhone.

I tried installing Iphoto it said it was downloaded successfully. I still get the error messafe, and can not open any photos of program,  any suggestions?

What version of iPhoto do you have on the Macbook and on the iMac? What systems are you running on the Macbook and on the iMac?
Does the message only refer to "a problem" or does it specify what it is?

Same problems here. I have 2 different computers and tries 2 different CD-Rs and I found out that it has soemthing to do with the new "Protected AAC audio file" format.
Open iTunes, click on music, on the listing side of the screen right click on name, and then click on "kind".
I bet you can't burn anything with the "Protected AAC audio file."
No solutions yet, so just don't buy anything else from iTunes for now.
