Burn Files in DVD

Hello guys,
Which APP should I use to burn files in DVD in Lion native ?
Thanks

Depends on what you are burning and how you expect to use the DVD.
If you're just copying data files to the DVD then using a burn folder in Finder is fine. If you're making a video DVD that you want to be able to play in a regular DVD plaver you will need video authoring software.

Can someone explain how to burn files onto a blank DVD, please?  I have iMac with Lion and DVD-RW.  When I insert the DVD, no icon appears on my desktop.  If I go into the disk utility, the disk shows up there.  Then I click BURN, and a window opens up for me to select files.  But all the files are grayed out and non-functional.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Burning files to  DVD

Hi, i have been trying to burn a 850 mb quicktime file and a couple of jpegs to dvd in my super drive. have created disk image and burnt disk all appears good except there is nothing on the dvd . have used both .cdr and .dmg images still same result.(
am able to burn movies from iDVD ok.
    help appreciated

Ok, first of all, the amount of data you can burn on a DVD is not exactly 4.7 gb, is less than that, but i dont remember right now how much it is, i make images of 4.44 but, you dont have to complicate things that much, thanks to the simplicity of the OSX, all you got to do is insert the dvd, then the system asks you (if that option is set on the cd & dvd preference pane) what to do with it, then you pick the use in finder option and the image is created, then you copy your things to the image on the desktop, when you finish, simply put the image on the trash (wich look now like a burn icon) and "voila" you got a perfect DVD.
As you see, it just works.
Let me know if you got a question, ill be here.
    Good luck.

  • Help With Burning files to DVD

I'm having trouble doing something that should be ridiculously easy.  I'm trying to burn files to a blank DVD RW.  I've created a burn folder in finder.  The folder has lots of duplicates, which causes the size of the burn folder to exceed the size of the DVD.  I tried to delete the duplicate files from the burn folder.  I get that low pitched 'bonk' noise that the Mac OS gives you when it won't allow an operation.
How do I delete duplicate files from the burn file?
    thanks,
    Dan

(What you're describing works as would be expected on local test systems and no "plonk" noise, so...) issue a Get Info on the burn folder and then the (links to the) files within, and see if the protections are blocking delete access.  Also select the file, and then see if the Control-Click popup menu gets you anywhere.

  • Can't burn files onto DVD

I have a Pioneer DVD Drive and when I try to burn files onto the DVD, it goes through the process of burning the files ( I can see the little progress bar ), but the files do not end up on the disk. One disk worked, and I saw that the burn process was verifying the information, but since then I can't get it to work - I have tried several disks.
Is there any brand of DVD that is better than others ? I am new to Mac, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

DVD media is limited to about 19 minutes of DV Stream format.
If your Project is under that limit and still won't "fit" try exporting to Full Quality QuickTime file (.dv) and use the Finder to burn the disc or break your Project into multiple "parts".

  • Burn files to DVD and keep open or appendable

Ultimately, I am trying to burn a DVD that has a a slide show with some pictures, but then also have ALL the pictures in original size on the DVD as well. From iPhoto, I can share the group of photos for the slide show with iDVD, and it will go over, and I can burn that. But what I was trying to do before I did that, is burn all the pics I want into a folder using Finder burn folder, but it closes the DVD so I can't add anything else. I thought I'd be able to then keep using that DVD for the slide show in iDVD, provided it still had enough room, which it does. Am I going about this the wrong way? Do I need to explain more?

While working in iDVD, you need to add these photos to the DVD-ROM portion. You can read about this feature in iDVD Help: _Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc_
Here is the basic info. You can read more about this feature in iDVD Help: _Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc_
+To manually add files to the DVD-ROM part of your disc:+
    +Choose Advanced > Edit DVD-ROM Contents.+
    +The DVD-ROM Contents window opens.+
+Click Add Files, or click New Folder first if you want to create a folder to put the files in.+
+Browse to select your files or folders, then click Open to add them to the disc.+
+You can also drag files directly to the DVD-ROM Contents window. When you are done, just close the window.+
    I hope this helps.

  • Playback quality poor when burning files to DVD

I am burning quicktime files to a DVD. (I want to keep them as quicktime files so the recipients of the DVD's can manipulate the files if needed.)
After burning the file (2.81 GB) to a DVD-R (4.7 GB capacity) The playback of the burned DVD file is odd. It seems to have all the information (video and audio) But it will freeze on the first video frame while the audio keeps going. Not sure why this is happening.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to prevent this? OR, possibly a different file format to use? I don't want the files in a an iDVD menu because then you can't extract the files and manipulate them with ease.
If anyone can help... THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

I'm thinking you burned the dvd as a data dvd.
Your mac can't keep up with a video that is burned as a data dvd. You need to copy the DVD content to your hard drive to be able to play the video with no problems.

  • ITunes attempts to burn files onto DVD on startup

Ever since I loaded iTunes on my husband's computer last week, it has done something weird. When iTunes starts, it sends a folder with several iTunes files to the DVD-R drive to be written (files such as iTunes Library Extras.itdb, itunes Library Genius, itunes Music Library, iTunes Library.itl, sentinal, Album Artwork folder, iTunes Media folder). I've checked the settings, and everything in Preferences references the C: drive. How do I get iTunes to stop trying to write these system files to the DVD-R?

  • Bugreport: LR 2.5 fails to burn files to DVD

Affects: LR 2.5 on Win XP SP3
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Select a set of shots that would require 3 DVDs
    2. Export to CD/DVD as original files
    3. Insert blank DVDs when prompted
Expected result: 3 disks with the selected files on them
Actual result: Disk 1 and 3 contain the right files. Disk 2 is blank (nothing written, disk still untouched).
    Other observations:
    - When starting to write disk 2, LR "finish" in a couple of seconds and asks for disk 3 just like disk 2 had been written successfully.
    - This is not caused by faulty blank disks. LR accept the same blank disk as #1 or #3 after "writing" to it as disk #2.
    - CD/DVD recording work fine from other applications
    - The behaviour described above is reproducable with 100% reliability

If you're dealing with things with the same granularity as an existing catalog, like your moving the entire catalog and photos to a new place, then just use file COPY operations, at least if you're aware of what and where a catalog database file exists and where the set of photo folders are.
I use Export to make a catalog that is a PORTION of an existing catalog not a copy of an entire catalog.
I use Import to ADD photo-settings, en-masse, to an existing catalog, not to view an existing catalog in its entirety.
I use a combination of both operations to make backups of my current work to a couple external HDs on a periodic basis.  I Export things by month to an external HD, and then import that month's catalog to the external HD's catalog so I have all the photos on that particular backup drive in a single catalog to facilitate searches.
This lets me have my most recent photos in a single catalog on my fast internal HD.  And I have all the photos on my external backup drive in a single catalog.  And if I really wanted to, I could have all my external HD catalogs (I have several TBs of photos) imported into a monster catalog that is not connected to any photos, to do keyword searches across the entire set, and then go to the individual 1TB drive the photos exists on, based on the date.

  • Problem burning files to DVD

    I
I am using PE8 on windows XP with a 2.2 Ghz dual amd processor system with 2 gig of memory.  I get an error when trying to print that I need to retry and get error info - (result 13 command 42 sense 3 asc:2 ascq:0)  I was trying to copy some pictures to a DVD drive.  I have tried different discs and different drives.  Help

Could you verify that burning works fine on your machine using other burning softwares say Nero. This would help to isolate the issue.

  • Burning files onto dvd rw/?

i'm not sure if this is the right forum....but how do i make a data disc on a dvd rw and keep rewriting?? help!

    Brian,
I know you can do incremental on CDs, we weren't talking about CDs. I got the idea the op wanted to reuse the DVDs, which requires erasing them first
I know, that's why I said: "...for example, Toast lets you create Multi-session CDs - but not DVDs."
It seems to me that I recently saw incremental writing software for DVDs - I'm still looking.

  • How do i burn files onto a DVD??

I got a NEC 2510A and it didnt come with any software
I put in a DVD disc and windows doesnt seem to have the ability to burn files onto it like a regular CD-R.
I guess i have to use a program?
What is the most popular program for burning files onto DVD discs?  I am not copying DVD's just using the discs as backup for files.
    Help thanks!

Adeptecs easy cd/dvd creator, also works and has improved greatly from 5.0.  It now almost competes with nero, there is also discjuggler and several other burning suites.  Depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.  Probably nero will be your best option.

  • How do I burn a disc image (img file) to dvd?

I created a disc image from iDVD, but my disc drive on my home computer is broken. With a flash drive, I copied the img file onto my work computer & burned the file to disc. However, while the file copied, the disc doesn't play as normal dvd. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Though the replies above were very helpful and most likely would have worked, my work computer doesn't allow access to Disc Utilities. However, I bugged my IT guy and he showed me another way, using the Burn Application. I just needed to use the correct setting, as was mentioned above, I was burning data & not DVD. I'm sorry I don't have it in front of me, but I think I had to click the DVD tab & then select DVD/Video from the drop-down menu. One quirky element: I wasn't able to drag/drop the img file into Burn. I needed to drop the contents of the img file (the VIDEO_TS folder). Then it worked fine.

  • How do I burn a .mov file to DVD?

I need to burn an MPEG-2 video file saved as .mov to a DVD that will play in a regular DVD player.
I have tried opening iDVD and the selecting 'Create a New Project'. When I have selected a location for the project and the main window opens, I go to File > OneStep DVD from Movie...
My understanding is that when I import a movie file, it will burn it straight to the disc without any further options. It does this, however after a couple of minutes the DVD is ejected blank and iDVD says the burn has completed.
How can I solve this problem or is there another way to burn a .mov file to DVD?
    Thanks, Dan

A green screen in an indication that the movie is in a format not supported by iDVD.   It should be in one of these formats:  DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD.  (From SDMacUser's post in What input file formats does iDVD...: Apple Support Communities). The post has other requirements that need to be met.
    SD = standard definition.
Open your movie with QT Player and bring up the Info window for the movie.  It will have the format:
Another possible reason is the Energy Saving settings on the Mac.  Turn off energy saving and screen saver before starting the save as disk image or burn.
Other possible fixes can be found in this tipic: Green Screen with audio after Burning: Apple Support Communities
