Burn folder in sidebar that will not go away

I have a folder that was an attempted burn that crashed.  There is a yellow and black circle beside it that looks like a hazard sign.  I can't get it to delete or go away.  I've tried dragging it to the trash and nothing.  I can't seem to find it anywhere else on the system, it only shows up on the sidebar.
Any suggestions?

Hold the command key and dragging it out, see if that works.

Make a temporary, backup copy if you don't have a backup copy of the library (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4
    Launch iPhoto and try again.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I have a box that will not go away, it says,  "To open JavaApplication, you need to install a Java SE 6 runtime.  Would you like to check for and install one?  If i push not now, it keeps popping up, if I push install, it says it's not available, help.

I have a dialogue box that will not go away and it seems to have started when I upgraded to Mt. Lion.  the box says, "To open JavaApplication, you need to install a Java 6 SE runtime.  Would you like to check for and install one?  (smaller print)  Note: Usw of this software is subject to the Software License Agreement applicable to the software you are downloading.  A list of Apple SLAs may be found here: htp://www.apple.com/legal/sla/
Finally there are two boxes to click.  One says not now.  If I click on that the box goes away for 2 to 3 seconds and then pops back up and WILL NOT go away.  If I click on the second box, Install, it says  The software is currently unavailable.  To install a Java SE 6 runtime later, open Java Application again.
My confusion here is that I have no idea what the java application is, When I click "okay" on that box, the original box pops us again and WILL NOT go away. CGoing to the apple lega web site was no help.  My solution so far has been to drag the dialogue box as far to the lower right and out of the way as far as I can.  Help.

Does this happen immediately after you log in? If so, one of your login items is probably causing it.

I am having a problem deleting all but one particular mail message from my inbox. I delete by either using the trash can icon for individual mail, or using edit, selecting the mail message (s) and clicking delete.  However there is this one mail message that will not go away regardles of what I do including deleting all from the trash.  Any ideas?

I get that every once in a while on my 3GS, and that's what I do to get rid of it. Probably not a bad idea to power down the phone every so often, anyway, gets rid of any crud waiting to cause a bug.
Glad to hear that it worked for you.

Same situation.  Had to pull out the Mini to research this.  The Apple logo has been on the screen about five min, oh, just went black.  Home brought it back and popup is gone.  Wonder why this happened to many folks.

  • Popup on Safari that will not go away

I have a popup on my Safari that will not go away, even when I restart my computer. It's to call a number immediately to get help, which I Googled & it is a scam. Can anyone please tell me how to get my Safari back to working right. Thanks
Below is what the popup says:
    http://mac-system-issue.com
    Safari - Alert
Suspicious Activity Might Have been Detected.
    Major Security Issue
To fix it please call Support for Apple
    +1 800-680-0697 (Toll Free) immediately!

Let me preface this by saying that I am in no way a tech person.  I just followed other people's advice and somehow it eventually worked for me.  I'm sure I didn't do it the easiest way or the fastest way, but I was trying anything I thought might help.
    1) First I tried overriding Safari with a new version but then realized that it was incompatible with Lion, so I upgraded to Yosemite.  Didn't help.
    2) I then opened Safari (same problem was happening) and did a force quit.  There are a number of ways to do that but I chose to click on the apple in the top-left corner, go down to force quit, and then select Safari.  Then I went in to Library > Safari and deleted the "LastSession.plist" and then emptied my trash so that it would be totally off my computer.  Then I reopened Safari holding the shift key.  When it opened, a box came up basically asking if I wanted to restore my last session.  Read it carefully and choose the option that will start a new session instead of reopening your old work.
I have no idea if the fact that I upgraded my Safari and operating system helped or changed anything.  You may be able to do everything in Step 2 and get the same result....but that's just how it all worked for me.
Hopefully it helps.  But I know this particular adware popup i a real bi-atch because it basically totally disables Safari.

  • Happy Mac that will not go away

My worse case scenario is now in play. I tried starting in OS 9. I have a Happy Mac that will not go away. Hard shutdown and restart and it is the same story.
I read somewhere that you could hold down the "X" key after the tone to force the system to load OS X but as far as I can tell that is nothing more than a fairy tale. I have tried it in the past and I tried it repeatedly last night.
I have no apparent way to get this computer to start up without using CDs - I cannot use a startup CD or Disk Warrior or anything else because my G4 MMD is currently not recognizing that there is a combo drive present. It was part of troubleshooting that problem that caused me to try to startup in OS 9 to begin with.
IF I was able to get it to startup in Target mode, could I use a laptop to try to change the change the startup HD system back to 10.4.8? If ever I needed help before, I need it now. PLEASE, any ideas?

What I used was the Option key. That showed all of the OS that are in my machine. I chose OS 10.4.3 and started up. I clean permission both in OS X and OS9, and restarted with the drive with OS 10.4.8. I understand that will even work with external opticals with CDs.
The kicker is that even after repairing OS 9 permissions, I tired a restart and ran into the same issue. I got out of it the same way with the Option - a very powerful command at start up if your system is configured efficiently to use it. I did not try the OS 9 on the drive with OS 10.4.3 but I guess it would be the same. I'll try it if I am ever forced into it.
So I am to go - go back to figuring out why my 2 internal optical drives (who reappeared during all of the above) will not read media, that is. It does not reject them it just ignores them. But, that is another thread.
Thanks for you assistance, I really, really mean it. Lots of good karma generated.

  • Importing error that will not go away...

    Howdie Folks:
I keep getting the same import error everytime I open iPhoto6. "2 photos have been found in the iPhoto photo library that have not been imported". No matter what I do I get this every time I open iPhoto.
I don't know what to do - a while back I deleted the "album" that it creates when I tell it to import the 2 photos. Of course, this is recreated every time I select yes to import. No to import, does nothing apparently.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks Guys.

    Howdie.
Locate your iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. Just inside that folder there may be a folder called "Import" or "Importing." If there is, move it to your desktop. [Please take care to not tamper with anything else inside the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. Changes you make that way can damage your library.] Use the Finder to view the contents of the Import folder to see if you need to keep it or not. Launch iPhoto and see if that clears up the warning message. If you want the items from the folder, use iPhoto's Import to Library command to bring them in.
You may also wish to rebuild the database. Hold Option and Command while you Launch iPhoto. Check all 4 options in the dialog box, then Rebuild. It can take a while if your library is large. For more info read this Apple article.

  • How do I delete an email on my iPad that will not go away?

I deleted everything from the mail server and still shows in my iPad as 1 mail unread!

Unselected the album in iTunes on your Mac and sync again. That will delete the album on your iPad.

  • How can I manually delete an asset that will not go away

I have a sunBlade 6450 that was originally recognized by ops center 11 as solaris, we rebuilt the blade with Vmware Vsphere, and Opscenter still sees it as solaris..
No amount of highlighting the solaris or blade object and hitting delete will make it go away. I just want it to rediscover correctly. Is there a command line
option on the enterprise controller that will wipe this out?

do you have maintenance with oracle ? I was given some info that allows access directly to the java beans. you should contact a Oracle engineer as a Ops Center customer i don't feel comfortable sharing that info on this forum.

  • Constant "Your account currently has a pending order." that will not go away.

    Hello,
I have an issue where I can't make changes to services and/or equipment on My Verizon online account. I constantly receive a message saying "Your account currently has a pending order." when I attempt to make changes. I receive the following message:
Your account currently has a pending order.
You can check the status of your pending order by visiting
                     What's Next.
To make a change to your order, please contact us:
                     1 800-VERIZON (1 800-837-4966)
I have worked with more than 2 different Verizon representatives on this issue and they just offer to make changes to my account after I have frustrating told them that I do not wish to make any changes. I just want the functionality to make changes to my services and/or equipment to return to my account. I have seen numerous posts about this issue in this forum so I'm hoping that by posting in here I can FINALLY receive the proper resolution to my issue.
    Please someone help me!

    Hi crispinb,
Sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue. Please remember to check your spam/junk folder if you do not hear from an agent.

  • Corrupted email in Outlook that will not go away or respond

Hi!  Does anyone know how to get rid of a an email message that when clicked on freezes the screen and makes you have to shut down the computer and start it up again?  I have contacted Verizon, Norton, and Outlook Express and not one of them was able to figure it out.  The last contact I had with Verizon, the person got mad and said this wasn't Verizon's fault and he couldn't fix it and then disconnected.  Maybe it's time to get rid of Verizon.  Unless someone can help of course.
    Anyone?  Thank you!

If an Outlook Express message is corrupted, it almost usually means you have to rebuild the Outlook Express profile as the program tends to have database issues whenever the Mail file reaches a certain size. Now if an e-mail is stuck and corrupt, that's another issue that may or may not be size related. If you really don't want to go through the process of rebuilding a profile, you could try running programs that repair Outlook Express data files (many of them are not free anymore), or you could try moving the corrupted message into a folder and deleting the folder itself (which will kill the message).
Anyways, if the message is not in Webmail and Outlook Express is set up to use POP3 to retrieve mail, it's not Verizon's problem. It's a Microsoft problem.

  • Unwanted messages that will not go away even with ...

I get two sometimes three messages a day from someone calling themselves The Handicap King.
When I check the message details the sender is: (no name) IMPORTANT.
I've tried to send a STOP message but all I get is "Invalid characters in recipient field: IMPORTANT".
    I have a 6300 Nokia phone.
Is there anyone out there that help me remove these annoying messages?

All you can do is contact your network provider and ask them to block them. Not all networks are willing to do this unfortunately.
Also have a google around as some countries have methods of reporting companies that don't make it easy to opt-out.
There is nothing that nokia can do to help you and no software is available for series 40 phones like the 6300 to filter incoming messages. Only S60 smartphones can have call and message filtering software installed on them.

If you don't have Applecare you can usually get a refurbished unit from an Apple Retail Store cut price - though they may not have any 3 models in stock and you may be 'forced' to upgrade to a 3GS.
