Burn Folder on DVD

This is sort of a generic iphoto question and since i have this version i decided to post here...I have an imac and also a power mac. I downloaded all my photos to the imac and created a burn folder, and loaded all my pics into that folder, burned a DVD, and imported them all onto my iphoto on my power mac. I can view these photos on iphoto, but can not do anything else...i.e. email, drag to desktop...UNLESS I have the burn folder DVD running. Is there any way to change this so that i can do whatever I want with these photos, without having to have the DVD in?

Check your preferences on the Power mac (in iPhoto '08 - iPhoto menu ==> preferences ==> advanced ) and be sure that "copy items to iPhoto Library is checked" is checked. It sounds like it is not and that iPhoto did what you requested - referenced your photos rather than copying them
if that is the case you will need to delete the referenced photos so you do not have both the copied and the referenced photos in your library

If you have the original movie files, you'd be much better converting those, otherwise try MPEGstreamclip.

  • Blank CDR and DVD not shown in finder - impossible to burn from Burn Folder

Since I have installed Snow Leopard on my Imac, Blank CD's and DVD's are not seen in the finder. No matter what I select in:
Systempreferences > CD's and DVD's (ask task / show finder etc...) the discs do not appear (I tried with all sorts).
Yet the disks are seen in Utilities > Disk Utility and also recognized in System profile.
When I make a New Burn Folder, after getting the prompt: insert disk, and inserting, nothing happens. Then I cancel, and finally get the message "The disk cannot be used because it is not recognized". I get this message with any disk type.
Using the same disks, but burning from I-tunes, I-movie, I-DVD I have no problem at all.
The exact same things happens on my Macbook, since Snow Leopard has been installed.
Smells very buggy. Anyone knowing a solution?
    Thanks,

I am having the same problem but get no error messages.

  • Hello..Does anyone in this community know what the following error code indicates   0x8002006E   I was trying to burn a DVD from files in a burn folder. They were pictures from my Nikon camera. I can play videos and movies from the same dvd player.

    Thanks for your reply:
I did find an error log related to the error code and tried all suggestions on the list of recommendations, still no luck
I definitely am running OS X10.5.8 (hopefully will be updating later on this month)
I tried several brand new discs from the same box, still no luck.
My last option is to go out and try a different brand, guess I'll go with Verbatim this time but I think I'll poke around some more before buying 20 more new discs.

  • Burn folder do not see my blank CD or DVD

burn folder ask for blank media to insert even if a blank media in drive
i do not use this feature often but this is quite annoying
with Disk Utility i do not have problems
but i really need to solve problem with burn folder
    thank you for your help!

Set the "CDs & DVDs" System Preference to "Open Finder" for bland discs. When you insert a blank, it should create a burn folder.
Do you have an external Western Digital My Book drive? That installs software that can stop the detection of blank discs.

  • Burn Folder and Burning a CD/DVD

I put 50 Photos (Tiff & Jpg's) into the Burn Folder. Followed instructions to Burn these on to a disc. It said it could only Burn the first one. Any advice welcomed.

Well, since it's a general OS X question, the best place would probably be in the Using OS X Tiger forum, but since you have an intel imac (Thanks, Niel!) there's also a forum for Using DVDs and CDs with your Intel iMac.
Either forum gets a lot more traffic than the appleworks forum, which is for apple's old productivity suite that has been replaced by iWork.

  • I transferred photos from my camera to my computer and created a burn folder.  I recorded the burn folder on a DVD but it will not play on my DVD player.  What am I doing wrong?

I transferred photos from my camera to  burn folder on my macbook Pro.  Made a DVD from the burn folder but it will not play on my DVD player.  What am I doing wrong?

How did you do this burn? Did you use a program like iDVD?  A DVD player requires that the data on the DVD is recorded in the proper format: MPEG-2.  A program like iDVD will do this.  There are other programs available that can do the proper coding (Roxio 'Toast' for example), but iDVD has the most features and is easy to use.  It is no longer available from Apple, but if you search on Amazon, you can find 'iLife 11', a suite of programs including iDVD.  It will function properly on Apple's current operating system, but it cannot make a High-Definition (Blue-Ray) presentation.  It is Standard Definition only, as are all regular DVD's. One good way to present photos on a TV is to make a slidesow in iPhoto, then export that slideshow to iDVD, where it will be properly formatted for a DVD player.  Or, iDVD can make its own slideshow of up to 99 photos.  HTH.

  • Big Folder to burn in several DVDs. How do I do that?

    Hi Everybody,
I want to save a folder with 12.7 Gb in several DVDs. It would be painfull to separate the files manually.
There is any way to spread the content of the folder in several DVDs automatically?
I read that using a Burn Folder will prompt a message asking for more media, but it doesn't happen to me.
    Thanks for your answers.
    Gus

Roxio Toast will allow you to span the data onto multiple discs

  • Burning Dual Layer DVD in Disk Utility vs. Burn Folder

Using Disk Utility, I created an Image, (File > New Image from Folder), The resulting .dmg file was about 8.3 Gigabytes. Still in Disk Utility, I select the volume (Filename.dmg) and click Burn, insert a dual layer disk and get a "Disk does not have enough free space" message. I create another image of the same folder, but select "Compressed", giving a folder size of about 6.2 Gigabytes. I try to burn this but again get the "not enough free space" message.
Now I try creating a Burn Folder, put the 6.2 gb Filename.dmg in the folder and select Burn, It burns fine.
Why does the Burn Folder method work and not Disk Utility? What am I missing?
    I would appreciate any insight.
    Geoff

    Hi James:
When you try to copy the dual-layer you may encounter problems because the layer-break may not be where you think it should be.
When you try to copy the actual dual Layer DVD, iDVD will inform you that doing so may result in a disc that has playback problems in DVD players. It states that you are better off burning it with iDVD than from a Disk Utility.
3rd party software that will help would be Roxio's Toast 6, 7 or Popcorn.

  • Unable to burn an HD DVD in HD.264 format

When I attempt to burn a DVD with an H.264 10.3Mbps file using DVD Studio Pro I get the following message:  "VIDEO_TS folder found in Build Location ....The Build Location folder contains a VIDEO_TS folder(standard DVD content).  You must remove the VIDEO_TS folder from the Build Location in order to proceed with Build/Format of a HD DVD project."  The H.264 file includes both video and audio, and is a Quicktime movie.  If this doesn't work, is there an HD selection in compressor that will allow a 1080i video suitable for DVD?  I'm unable to find a VIDEO_TS folder linked to this video anywhere on my hard drive.

Well, you first need to know that an HD DVD will only play on one of three things:  1) A Mac with a Superdrive.  2) A Toshiba HD DVD player...but those have been discontinued as they lost the battle to BluRay.  3) An XBOX 360.
It won't play on regular DVD players...nor BluRay players.  If you want a DVD to play on a regular DVD player, you need to use the DVD BEST QUALITY presets...and know that it'll be standard definition, not high definition.  If you want BluRay...you need to get BluRay authoring software, and a BluRay burner.
You can use Compressor to author a BluRay playable disc...it just needs to be under 30-40 min...

  • I can't move photos from iPhoto to my secondary hard drive or to a burn folder.  I have never had a problem with this before.  This is something new.   They will not drop into either folder.  Nothing happens.

I can't move photos from iPhoto to my secondary hard drive or to a burn folder.  I have never had a problem with this before.  This is something new.   They will not drop into either folder.  Nothing happens.
I checked my secondary harddrive and there is plenty of memory.
I emptied my burn folder but the photos still will not drop into it.
I created a new burn folder, no luck with this either.
230 photos is the maximum size of the events I am trying to move from iPhoto to save elsewhere.
I have shut down and restarted my computer.   No change. The photos still will not drop out of iPhoto.
My Mac Computer Storage shows that I have 62.2GB free out of 249.2GB (movies, photos and contacts taking up the most space)
My Lacie External Harddrive (2TB capacity) shows that I have 1.79TB available.  It shows that 207,729,520,640 bytes (207.73 GB on disk) are used.
I have never had this problem before.  It is usually very easy to move my photos from iPhoto.
I am not a computer expert (I work in surgery so don't have a need for lots of computer knowledge) so please explain in simple terms.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
    I really appreciate it.

YES Terence!  Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs.  I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly.  I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?!  I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.
Thank you so much for your help.   I really, really appreciate it.

  • I have created several short (3-5 minute) movies using iMovie 10.0.6 and Yosemite.  I want to create one movie that includes these short movies that I can then either burn to a DVD or show in iMovie's Theater.  How can I do it?

I have created several short (3-5 minute) movies using iMovie 10.0.6 and Yosemite.  I want to combine those short movies into one movie that I can loop and burn on a DVD or show in iMovie Theater.  How can I do it?  The movies are now shared to iTunes.

Another easy way to fix this.
What I've noticed is that upon upgrading your projects and events to work with iMovie 10, initially it will work... Until you quit iMovie and reopen it again. Any events with hashtags will show up without the star next to the iMovie event. SO, if you happen to read this, after upgrading to iMovie 10 from its predecessor, immediately change the event name to NOT include a hashtag/pound symbol.
Otherwise, if it's too late, you can either do the above or this...
Hold down option and click on iMovie. This will prompt you Locate, Create a New Library, Cancel this window, or Choose a different library. What you want to do is create a new library, call it whatever you want to, this will only be temporary. After the program opens, it should be a blank Library. Then go to File > Open Library > iMovie Library (your original library) and proceed to change the name of your events. Quit the program. Go into your Movies folder in Finder, delete the library you temporarily created, and your back in business.

  • How do I move an album, from iCloud to a burn folder

Opened my iTunes and all of my songs have the cloud icon, next to them.  I wish to burn them to multiple cds, but cannot figure out how to put them into a burn folder.  Nothing happens when I click on the download cloud button.

    Hello kayceecowgirl,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Instead of draging songs to a burn folder, have you tried to burn a music CD using the steps in this article?

  • Burn a data DVD

I have tried to burn a smart playlist to a DVD to listen to my music at work. The DVD does burn, but all the music that I have purchased from iTunes is missing. It is selected in the playlist but it doesn't burn to the DVD. Any suggestions?

If you can locate the files using Finder, you should be able to burn the DVD.
On your work computer, you would probably want to "Add Folder to Library" then
select the DVD. It should import all the files off the DVD. If the files are purchased (DRM) you will need to authorize the computer at work as one of the 5
authorized computers you have. You can then listen with iTunes. I think Apple is
preventing you from burning "data" versions of the purchased songs. Although, I have backed up all my purchased songs to DVD in the past, not sure why now we
can't do that. But once you go outside of iTunes, data is data, and you should
be able to burn whatever you like (as a backup).
    Good luck.
