Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.

My wife ordered a photo book in Iphoto last night and in that photo book, there is a slideshow button. She can't burn this new slideshow to a DVD. Is this possible?

Select the slideshow and go Share -> Send to iDVD. Only iDVD can make a DVD to play in your home DVD player.

I burned a go cam video clip, stored in my iphoto album, on my OS X Mac Pro. I burned it on a Sony dvd. I can view the dvd on my mac, but it cannot be viewed by an older mac book?

Hello, need some help with iPhoto...
I'm trying to create my first slideshow in iPhoto 11 and export the file in order to burn a DVD and play it on Samsung BlueRay/DVD player and a HDTV (Samsung 46" LED; FWIW: both Samsung devices are about 2 years old).
I tried one version and, when I played it back in Quicktime before trying to burn a DVD, it was fuzzy/pixelated.
The slideshow consists of jpegs (between 9 and 14 MBs) and about 20 short (15 to 30 second) videos from a Sony camera set to AVCHD 60i/60p and producing .MTS files. I converted the .MTS files in Adobe Premiere Pro to .mov files (first time doing that, too!) and interspersed them in the slideshow. The slideshow works just fine when played back in iPhoto etc.
But what settings should I use for export to a slideshow file that will work well when burned to a DVD? I would like to take advantage of the 46" HDTV's full screen and use the 16:9 ratio, but not sure what's best. I don't care if the stills don't fill up the screen at that ratio, but I'd like the videos and the panorama stills to do so, if possible.
Any guidance will be much appreciated!

If you have the iLife boxed set then use iDVD from it. Or you can purchase the boxed set via third-party vendors like eBay or Amazon.com. Or you use a third-party replacement such as Roxio's Toast.

Burn random photo slideshow to dvd

I created albums from photos and can view slideshow in shuffle mode. I would like to burn this slideshow (with shuffle) to dvd. How can I do this with iphoto and idvd?

Terence is right. You'll have to put them in some order manually and export to iDVD. It's the nature of the beast.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Has anyone used an app with the new Maverick software to burn iphoto slide shows to DVDs that will play on a standard DVD player? This probably cannot be a demo app in that the amout of photos on the slideshows is large.

What version of iPhoto are you using? How do you plan to view the slideshow at the wedding reception, on a TV screen? If so then you will need to send the slideshow to iDVD and burn a disk from there.
If you're in iPhoto 11 and the slideshow was created in the slideshow mode and not from an album, then go to the Share menu and select iDVD. That will create a QT movie of the slideshow and import it into iDVD.
In iDVD select your theme and setup the menu as you'd like. If you want the movie to begin plahying immediately when the disk is inserted into the DVD player go into the Gallery mode and drag the movie into the Autostart bin at the left.

I can't figure out how to burn an iPhoto slideshow to a dvd. I created the slideshow and clicked on "export", the popup shows the different sizes, and a checked box that says "automatically to iTunes". From iTunes, I'm told to right click to burn the dvd. But I'm not seeing any options to burn cd

HT4718 After burning a slideshow from iPhoto export to a DVD, it will not play on my DVD player OS X 10.9.4

iMac 27' OS X 10.9.4 I burned a slideshow from iPhoto export to a DVD and now it will not play back on anything. The player said Unknown disc. What can i do?

I do find that using one of these programs will reduce the sharpness of the photos.
Granted, I've never used iPhoto - I use Photo to Movie for slideshows and various versions of iMovie for videos, but my pics are excellent quality and my videos are shot in 1080p (better camera) or 720p (small camera) and the results are superb on my TV using both iDVD and Toast. However, I do not encode in iDVD, I simply use it to add a theme and menus. The encoding is done by Photo to Movie, or iMovie 06 HD (the only version ever to process losslessly) and either/both are imported into iDVD as a complete .mov, or Toast.
Since using those methods, I've never had a problem with the sharpness or crispness of my footage. My eyes cannot discern a difference between my "production" and true HD (unless of course I shook the camera while shooting, LOL).

To burn a Slideshow you DVD for viewing on a domestic DVD player you need to use an app that with author the disk to the correct format.
Macs used come with iDVD for this purpose - accessed by going Share -> iDVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have this then you need to get such an app, then export the slideshow from iPhoto. This will make a movie of it, then add it to your DVD project.

If you have iDVD instralled on your iMac the above workflow will do the job. If you don't have iDVD and your iMac didn't come with Lion or Mt. Lion preinstalled the disks that came with the iMac can be used to reinstall iDVD and its themes.
If you iMac did come with Lion or Mt. Lion preinstalled you'll need to purcahse a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.

How do you burn iPhoto slideshow to DVD? I exported to Quick Time & burned as movie but won't play on DVD player.

If you want it to play on a domestic DVD player then the disk must be created in iDVD. The format of such a disk is quite specific and iDVD is the app the makes these formats.
So, Share -> Send to iDVD

Putting an iPhoto slideshow on DVD with Toast

Hello
I have a LaCie DVD burner, bought from the Apple shop in London with Toast Titanium 6. I want to save an iPhoto slideshow to DVD. Problem is, every time I try to drag a song from the Finder to Toast, I get the message that I do not have a valid Jam license.
Can anyone please explain this to me? I am wondering if the Apple shop may have sold me the wrong product for my iBook!
