Burn/Scratch/Scuff to Ipod Nano

I noticed that my 1GB iPod nano has a burn like area to the back of it. It is an area of a dime/penny and I was wondering how this might have happened. It happened just last night because yesterday afternoon it was not there. My ipod was in my bag which has magentic closures and my phone was in it as well. The weather has been changing from warm to cold several times and randomly, could this have affected it? How can I fix this problem?

Where is the mark, if you look at the back is it on the left hand side around an inch down from the top. If so, it could be the battery. If it looks like a burn mark, i.e. discolored with yellowish to blue color, I would call Apple and let them know. If it is just a scuff or scratch, I can tell you how to get it out.

  • How can I get rid of ALL the scratches on my iPod without ruining it?

My sister totally scrached up my iPod by dragging it around wood floors. It still works perfectly normal but I dont want scratches on it. Is there anything I can buy to fix the scratches?

I've used Brasso to remove minor scratches/scuffs from my Nano and 5th Gen iPod. It works pretty well, and it's available at any hardware store. Your local supermarket might even carry it in the isle with cleaning products.
I don't know how well it would work for you. Having the iPod dragged around the floor sounds pretty rough. If it has deep scratches, there might not be anything you can do for it.

  • IPod Nano Screen Scratches - ENDED FOR FREE!

Are you tired of how eaisly the iPod Nano scratches? I was, but didn't want to invest in a case that would increase the perfectly small size, nor an expensive film that might not work. I have come up with a free solution. If you go to your local shoe store that sells the brand Phat Farm, and look at a pair of shoes, almost every pair has a static cling film that goes over the "P" symbol. I have found that if you take one of these films (it just peels off, it's a protection for shipping), and use a glass wipe to clean both your iPod and the film, that it sticks perfectly to the screen, and doesn't add too much glare. Even better... it's free! This will also work for any iPod screen, and any part of the iPod that isn't porous!

Also, to anyone who is kind and interested, as I work at a shoe store, and got permission from my manager, I have spare films that I would be willing to send out to anyone who wants one (or multiple). I have sizes that work for almost any non-porous surface, so mostly any iPod.

  • Burn playlist from ipod nano  urgent

    ipod nano too full
need to take a few playlist off ipod
they will not drag to library
    or other playlist
i tried to burn them to cd
    but it wont highlight
i tryed new playlist but songs wont drag over

You would have to move the songs onto your computer from your iPod first and then burn them from your computer. iTunes cannot burn the songs if they are only on the iPod.
You can use free software such as this to move the music from iPod to computer...

    Hello HernanOtt,
Depends on where you have it serviced.  Here are Apple's repair quotes.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
You would probably save a lot of money by having a 3rd party repair company do the job for you instead.  Just do a simple Google search for iPod repair and you'll get a plethora of results.

  • My take on the iPod nano and a scratched surface

I posted this on another thread that got nixed... Take it or leave it.
First, the nano is the best featured flash based player on the market. Right now, mine is still protected with the shipping film until a suitable see through and easily applied cover hits the market.
Apple wanted to get this thing out the door for the holidays. Perhaps they rushed it a bit. It happens, it's business and it's a brilliant product. I'd bet they did not release the specs to makers of covers because details on it would have leaked and it would have taken from the press they got at the time it was introduced. And Apple got our attention - precisely what they had in mind. I impulse bought mine based on the press. It was everything I wanted in a flash player... Finally, Apple got me as a customer. It was inevitable. I'd been watching the iPod revolution with great interest since it was introduced and iTunes only worked on a Mac.
Apple was on a high with it's press release and demand for the nano, but now it's coming down and they don't want the negative press. As a firm, you may not want it, but it comes with the territory. I think Apple will eventually address the issue and take care of it's customers, but they first have to accept this as a problem and then provide a solution that will not harm them any more than the negative press they have received so far. Perhaps the next generation iPod nano will have a glossy skin over it for protection... Something like this "InvisibleShield" I am investigating... that would probably be the cheapest solution for them and I'd probably pay a couple bucks more for the nano... as would others I suspect.
I fear the scratching for my nano, that is why I have not removed the shipping film... and $250 US is a pinch for me.. a single income family raising two kids in the current US economy. For now, pick up the phone and call and keep criticism of the nano constructive and honest in the forums. The consumer will always win!

Does the screen still change orientation (from landscape to portrait and back) when you "tilt" the iPod?  If it has trouble doing that reliably, the accelerometer inside may have become faulty.

  • I need driver software for my original Ipod Nano the disk is too scratched to work

How can I get my original Ipod Nano to work on my computer if I don't have the computer disk that came with it to load it on the computer?

  • Helpful hint 4 iPod Nano scratches

my nano is covered w/tons of tiny scratches all over the screen. I tried looking on the web for stuff that would get rid of them, but i couldnt find anyting. i even tried to get a new iPod off my warranty, but couldnt figure it out. if you are experiencing the same problem, do this: go and buy some plastic screen covers that are used for Palms, cut one to size and put it on ur nano screen. there'll b a lotta air bubbles, but it covers up the scratches real nicely and protects ur screen from getting new 1's.

Be even more helpful if it was posted in the iPod nano forum! ; )

  • Ipod nano 7th nike plus workout show burned calories AND hearthrate

    Hi,
For years i used during my multi workout like crosstrainer and running a simple polar hearthrate band plus a watch so during the workout i can easily see the so far burned calories AND my hearthrate at that moment.
Now i upgraded to a ipod nano 7th gen plus a polar nike plus band, and i cannot find a workout on my ipod which simply counts calories and displays them together with the heartrate.
Anyone has a tip, or should i get back at my old polar watch ?
    Thx and greets.
    Mamo

I have spent HOURS trying to get my stuff to show on Nike+.  I spent an hour on the phone with Nike, and another hour with Apple, who told me to contact Nike again.  Then I saw up2105's respnse up above and it clicked.....I, too, had been using the WALK option, because I'm trying to get back into shape and I'm not yet up to running 100% of my workout.  And WALK does not show up in Nike+.
I don't even know why WALK is an option, if it won't sync with Nike+.  And why did their techs not mention this to me at the very beginning????  What about older folks who don't run anymore....are their workouts not worthy of charting on Nike+?  Anyway....thank you up2105!!!

  • Ipod nano scratch protectors :S

I'll be buying an ipod nano 2gb, and want to protect it from scratches and smudges. I looked into this scratch protector (transparent). But not sure about its durability. I mean how long does these things last, and how do they stay on? The link to the one i looked into is given below
    http://www.amazon.com/Duravu-Bullet-Proof/dp/B000EE9WHY/sr=8-3/qid=1157006025/re f=sr13/102-7177156-1536130?ie=UTF8
If there are better options, please let me know.
Is the slip case that comes with the ipod any good? I mean will it protect my ipod from scratches and everything? If not can anyone suggest a good leather case... I am looking for something stylish as well as protective.
    Thank you...

1 - Connect the iPod to your computer
2 - Click on the iPod's name in the left source panel, and click on the "photos" tab.
3 - Either deselect "syncing photos to iPod" to delete all photos altogether. Or un-check a specific folder(s) from this area, if you would like to only delete some photos, not all.

  • Scratches on iPod Nano

    Hi there,
My brand new iPod Nano is already in pretty bad shape. It has scratches all over the place especially in the area of the screen. When I contacted costumer support I was told to buy a protection sleeve. In my opinion this is a joke! I already own a 1 GB Shuffle and an 20 GM 4G iPod and I never had a problem like this. Does anybody have the same problems?

Same story. I've had my ipod nano for only a week and it has been in a tube the entire time. I took a look at it today and it is scratched everywhere. I havent taken this in any rugged areas. It either sits on my desk while I work or on my dashboard in my car. Anyway not only are there scratches all over the place...you look closely enough and there are what look like parts of the plastic that have tiny shatter points. this is terrible and I hope they will replace it when I got visit the apple store. However, I wish they would do more than just replace it. Fix the defect PLEASE

  • Ipod Nano=Scratches=Ipod Nano Refund?

    Everyone,
I am horribly disappointed in my black iPod Nano. It arrived a few days ago (my VERY first iPod), and I opened it with joy and excitement. After opening it, setting the Nano no the couch and loading my music, I picked it up and to my horror there were scratches on the back, FROM THE COUCH! Now, after putting it in the Apple Armband there are scratches on the front!
This is my first iPod and my excitement has turned to disappointment. I am not opposed to smalls scratches after using the Nano, but from setting it on the couch scratches SHOULD NOT happen.
Is anyone listening at Apple? Apple, can I return the Nano even though I had it engraved? (A trick on their part in my opinion). Anyone else want to start a petition to get a new nano that doesn't scratch?

    Dave,
You might try the following link. The person posting seems to have had a positive experience with Novus 2 polishing fluid. They claim that the scratch prone nature of their nano diminished with a couple polishings, implying that there may be a sensitive surface layer that is prone to scratching, and that this can be polished down to make the nano more robust.
    http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68b9c82f
I have had several classic iPods, all of which scratched with normal use (front plastic and rear chrome). The scratches on the nano probably seem more significant due to the nano's small face.
    good luck!

  • Ipod nano scratches way too easy

I bought my black 4gig nano this past Saturday and I'm really disappointed with the fact that it already has so many scratches all over it. I've kept it in a very soft sunglasses cloth/bag and still it scratches. At this rate in two weeks it will look like a two year old ipod. I'm just unhappy that it is so delicate. I don't even want to put it in a bag or my pocket and that just defeats the purpose of having the thing. This is my 4th ipod and I have to say even though it works great, for the price I paid, $359 here in Australia, I would expect the exterior to last a bit longer than 4 days.
    What do you guys think?
    Alex

So how did you get the scratch across the screen?
Something must have come into contact with the iPod to cause it, it did not magically appear.
If the same event had happened to an iPod mini or regular iPod how do you know that they too would not have the same marks?
All iPod and similar electronic equipment are prone to cosmetic damage, it happens, but it is always caused by how it is used. At some point you have allowed something to scrape across the face of your iPod, I don't know what it was, but it happened.
All these people who complain about scratches could just be not very good at looking after things, they may think they are being careful, but these things don't happen on their own.
I have a black iPod nano and I have used it for nearly a week, it has no marks at all, butI'm sure it will do soon, when I accidentally bump it or drop it or do something that causes a mark, it will be my fault.
It's true the nano is not as tough as the mini, but it would not be the product it is if it was made from the same materials as the mini. Apple could not get the nano in such a small package if they used aluminium, and it would not look as good as it does.
