Burn to Disc greyed out in "All My Files"

When I right click on a file in finder in "All My Files" Burn to Disc is greyed out. When I locate the same file in it folder and not in "All My Files" the Burn to Disc is there. Surely this cant be right and isnt very user friendly !

CD-RWs tend to have a lot of problems when used for audio CDs. I suggest you try the burn again using a CD-R.

Stationery Pad option greyed out for iWork 08 files

When you do a "Get Info" on files in Mac OS, you're supposed to be able to designate any given file as "stationery pad" - so when it opens, it automatically creates a copy, and your modifications go on that copy, not the original. This checkbox is greyed out on all my iWork 08 files. Yet it's available on, say, MS Office files. What's with that? I've checked out all the prefs I can think of for iWork 08, repaired permissions, etc. Yet no fix. Is this a defect of iWork 08? I want this feature!

You can't do it in iwork because a pages file isn't a file; it's really a folder. You do it in iwork by saving your pages document as a template instead.

Burn disc greyed out while exporting videos

Hi All,
I am sorry that I do not knw where to start from.
I have a small issue that whenever I try to export a video from premiere pro cs4 the Start Queue in the Adobe Media Encoder is greyed out.
Please help me in this issue.

Burn to Disc Grayed Out

History: I burned one disc about a month ago and have not burned any since. In that time, I did contract some spyware that kept shutting iTunes down before it fully initialized. Throught the forum, I was able to locate the offending agent and eliminate it.
Now, I went to burn a disc yesterday and the option is grayed out from the menu and burn icon does not appeare in the upper right.
I tried several different song groups, some purchased from iTunes and others I've ripped myself. The problem remained. A full reboot did not fix the problem either.
My CD-RW shows up in iTunes, so that's not the problem either.
Any idea?

Any updates on this thread? The same thing is happening to me and I'm not sure what to do. I've reinstalled, created new playlists, etc. all to no avail. I was able to burn CD's fine a few weeks back and now all of a sudden I don't have the burn disc button and the option is greyed out in the File menu.

Illustrations greyed-out when printing PDF file from Adobe Reader

From within PageMaker 7 I've made a 52-page PDF document in Distiller (selected job option is for Print) and uploaded it to my website. It contains many greyscale illustrations (TIFs and JPGs first imported into PageMaker), and text. I am able to view the PDF file over the net, and can print the illustrations and text on each page with no problem. I am using an old HP laser printer (LaserJet 5L). Other users are able to view the same PDF document on the net, and they can see all the illustrations and text on every page. However, some users who have tested it are reporting that when they try to print out the pages on their own printers, most of the illustrations are greyed-out between pages 3 and 51. The text is printing correctly on their printers. The images on the front and back cover are printing, and so is an 11-page comic strip (made up entirely of 11 TIFs, with no additional text). Can anyone work out why all the other illustrations throughout the document are printing greyed-out on their printers?

I am replying to my own question.
After posting here, I received feedback from a viewer that the PDF file is downloading and printing out pages with no greying-out of the illustrations. It looks to me as though the problems are arising from other viewers' slow internet connections and/or hardware RAM for printing, especially if trying to print all pages at once, rather than Saving As to hard drive, then printing.

Jpgs are greyed out in process multiple files.

I have a new iMac, with Elements 11, all jpgs are greyed out when I try to process multiple files.

Are these photos in iphoto? You can't access the iphoto library directly. Writing into that library from outside iphoto is the fastest way to corrupt it and lose the photos. Export the photos from iphoto and work on the exports. If that's not it, where are these jpegs located?

Can't play PC burned MP3 discs w/out adding to library???

This is really annoying me...
When I insert an audio cd, an mp3 cd burned with iTunes, or even music files burned as a data cd with iTunes, the disc shows up in my source list, and I can play it without having the songs added to my library.
When I'm done listening, I eject the CD, and it's as if it was never there.
My roommate has all these mp3 discs that he burned on his pc (I think as data discs) that do not show up on the source list.
I usually drag the disc icon to a new playlist in order to listen to it.
I turned off "copy files to iTunes music folder", because I don't want his files on my hard-drive.
But the file names still get added to my library and when I'm done listening I have to go in and delete them all - Major pain in the butt.
Is there a way around this?
Even if I have to use a different app to listen to his discs - that's fine.
I just want to be able to pop in his discs, listen to them, and then pop 'em out when I'm done, without them leaving any 'residue' on my Mac.

Can I go back to my 3gs from my 4s? Wifi still greyed out after all resets.

I have had it with all the resets and restores I have performed to get wifi on my 4s. Out of warantee but still8 months on my contract. My old 3gs is available. How do I go back to it until my contract expires?

Can't restore previous session (greyed out); lost all tabs and groups

I lost all my tabs including those in two groups (maybe 100 tabs) that I'd been keeping for a couple of years and in some cases much longer. Very occasionally I'll get the "oops this is embarrassing" message from FF and when I click on the Restore Previous Session button they reappear.
What happened this time is that when booting my computer (Windows 7), Adobe Flash wanted to download an update, and instead of waiting for the boot to finish as I normally would, I clicked on the Adobe Flash Download Update button. It then opened FF and hung, so I eventually used Task Manager to end FF. After the computer finished booting, when I opened FF it had no open tabs or groups, and the Restore Previous Session option (and each of the other options in that grouping in the History menu) was greyed.
When investigating, I find I do have the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files from yesterday (each about 4.5 mb), but I don't know how to access them because the Restore Previous Session option is greyed.

Awesome. And maybe back up your sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files somewhere outside of your Firefox settings folder in case you need them for a future recovery. (That would involve copying them back to your active profile folder while Firefox is closed so it finds them when it starts back up again.)

Why when I burn to disc a playlist in itunes (audio files) it will play in a portable cd player, but won't play in two different auto cd players?

CD-RWs tend to have a lot of problems when used for audio CDs. I suggest you try the burn again using a CD-R.

Filters greyed out in large PSB file

Hi there
Can anyone point me in the direction of answer to this question....
I'm running CS3 on an Intel Mac 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon 5GB ram
And I've got a 310cm x 61cm 2.2 gig file. (it's for a stage backdrop)
I'm in a PSB file RGB, 8 bit and i can't get to any filter effects.
Any ideas?

Many filters have limits on the size of image they can process.
But other filters will work with any size image.
And telling us the physical dimensions of the document don't tell us anything about the pixel size or memory footprint. (file size and document size are very different things)

IPhone 4s Almost all songs and all videos greyed out and will not play

I bought the iPhone 4s yesterday and have been beating my head against the wall over this problem all night. I only have about 2,000 songs on the iPhone and about 10 videos. Some of the songs will play, but all others are greyed out and all videos are greyed out. When plugged into iTunes the same problem is there, the same songs that do not play are greyed out while the ones that will play are not grey.

I've had this issue before. The greyed songs in iTunes are because the original music files have been moved on your computer and itunes can't find them. Delete all your grayed out songs (might be easier to select all and delete all) ; then drag them all from your music file/folder back into your itunes... then resync.

SQL Server 2012 Management Studio - Stop, Start, Restart options all Greyed Out

I am a sa and local admin on various SQL Servers. I can see the stop/start/restart etc. options when using lower version tools and also when directly logged onto the servers. However with SQL2012 SP2 MS remotely these options are all greyed out for
all servers. I can confirm that I have effective 'view server state' perms, and also that domain admins can see the options. Why can't I see these options through SQL2012 SP2 MS? Any help appreciated.

What rights do you have on windows machine where SQL server 2012 resides, the one who you want to start stop remotely. Are you connecting SQL server 2012 with SSMS 2012 or some lower version SSMS ?

RSS "Open all in tabs" greyed out.

On RSS feeds "Open all in tabs" seems to ALWAYS be greyed out.
It works fine on other bookmarks, so it is NOT this bug:

I have lived with this bug for a loooong time since an update, I think it was around FF13.
It is greyed out on ALL machines I know of... I have seen the bug on several machines with completely independent bookmarks, seen on multiple windows versions
Tried all tricks and NONE worked. Just tried to start in safe mode (did not help) tried to start in safe mode and reset EVERYTHING - but the bug persists.
Googling the bug gives thousands and thousands of hits, so this is still an existing bug NOT related to add-ons.
The reset saves the bookmarks, so I guess the bug MIGHT be found inside the bookmark-database corrupted at some upgrade.
If this is not a bug, but an intentional removal of a function, then it should be hidden not greyed.

....But why not keep it as an About:config option?
But even better would be to replace it with "Open all UNREAD in tabs"

10.5.3 will not mount DVD-R burned video discs

I have 5 DVD-R's with burned video from a wedding and they play in my DVD player in the living room fine. They refuse to mount on my iMac or MacBook Pro when booted in Leopard 10.5.3. When I insert them, they spin for a few minutes, then I can hear the drive spin down and the OS just keeps the disc in the drive without mounting it and nothing ever happens not even ejecting the disc. The disc ejects fine when I push the eject button.
The funny thing is that they mount like a charm when I boot into OS X 10.4.10 (I do this from a firewire iPod with OS X Tiger installed on it).
Does anyone know what the issue is? Obviously this is a problem with Leopard if I can mount these optical discs just fine running Tiger.

I am having what I believe it is a related issue. The DVDs show up in disk utility but they are greyed out. Under the file menu I tried the "Mount" command with no success. I had to go to the terminal and type
sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/udf.kext
and then tired mounting the DVD and it was finally recognized by the finder. Problem is that if you restart you have to use the kextload command again -it diesn't stick. Even without rebooting, I have to manually mount the DVDs every time.
I am running 10.5.3 on intel based machines. Oddly enough, I have none of this issues on a pcc box running 10.5.3. Maybe the tip will work for you. I have a feeling there is a bug in there somewhere.
