Burned cd issues

Why do my burned cd's not play on my home stereo cd player using windows 7 pro media player. i never had this problem wih windows xp. i am using stereo wave files ( .wav ) of my own recorded original music and the CD will not play on a stereo. it
only plays on the pc. I even tried to make sure i exported the wave file as 16 bit and not 24 bit and they still will not play on my home stereo.

Thanks for your input but are you sure about this?... previously in past all my .wav stereo files always worked even at 24 bit depth... previously anything burned as an MP3 would never play because most CD players were not set up to read MP3 files altho
some car stereos were starting to have that option... i was reading somewhere that the default media player with windows 7 does not fit the format for most commercial CD players and by default format is " WPL or M3U " ... neither of these choices work and
are the only 2 choices with media player 12 the default player for windows 7... but prevously burned CD's have when i was running Windows XP. And i aALWAYS used "stereo .wav"  files to drag and drop for my burn list. I also know that when a recorded mixdown
is sent out for mastering they prefer you send a .wav on a disc because the intention is to create commercial "redbook CD" which is 44.1k @ 16 bit which is still industry standard CD format... Microsoft really messed this all up and now i will apparently have
to outsource a totally different CD burning source. Guess it is time to install the copy of Nero 8 essential i have or use the burner within my SONAR 8.5 Producer Edition recording software...

As per with any computer, a very basic rule of thumb... The more ram. The higher processor speed... The faster and more efficient your machine will be.  And since processor upgrades are relatively difficult to do if you're not familiar with the hardware... Then I'd go with a ram upgrade (ie getting more assuming you're not already maxed out)
But shy of any of that, just clean up.  Any photo albums, videos, documents you dont need or use anymore.. back them up ten delete them.  The same thing with extra apps or programs.  Think of it his way, the heavier your backpack gets, the slower you're going to walk.  Lighten the backpack, the easier and faster you can walk.  So start by cleaning house.  (personally I'm a big fn of or matting and re-installing everything every now and again.  It may be overkill, but it's one of the best ways to clean.
Start with the free and easy.  If you don't get results that you like then go on to some options that have a price tag

  • Resolution to iTunes Burn ID3 issue

Here is one resolution to not getting the ID3 tags when burning in iTunes
Go to edit>preferences>advanced>burning> if the audio CD is checked then your CD will not have the ID3 tags. But it will play in all or most CD players.
To get the ID3 tages you must have Data CD/DVD checked. If the music is bought @ iTunes music store and you give this disk to someone else or put it on one of your other computers you can transfer the music to your iTunes and it will have all the ID3 tags but you will have to autorize that computer to be able to play that music. You can have 3 or 5 computers authorized under your name. This is one of the ways to do it if you are backing up your iTunes.
If you have MP3 checked you will also have the ID3 tags and I am assuming this will take care of the problems people are having using iTunes burned CD in their CD Players that display ID3 Tag info
Hopefully this helps with some of the ID3 tag issues while burning in iTunes.

It overwrites the Artist too, it seems.
Do you know how it is setting the "Podcast is true" setting, and how I can disable that??
This is all very confusing and annoying. iTunes 4.9 didn't do much of this, and it was a better podcast client in my mind. iTunes 5.0 making me consider switching to another podcast client so I can have one that makes sense.

  • Windows 8 and itunes 11 burning cd issues

i installed windows 8 and ever since itunes wont burn or recognize cds. My diagnostics say that the cd driver is not available. I've tried working with upper and lowerfilters. if i add both then my computer doesn't even recognize i have a cd drive at all. i've uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled. i'm at my wits end. anyone got any ideas?

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

  • Burned DVD issues in DVD player not reading or music issues stop and start

I'm a PC converted to a MAC (less than a month) and love it so far. I have been able to create and burn a DVD. The problem I'm having is one DVD player will not read the DVD (Hitachi). The other DVD player will play it, but the music stops and starts when it transitions (twirl) to another picture (Panasonic DVD/VHS combo). I'm using a DVD R Memorex. Neither one of the player are new. Would love to use this to make the Grandparent's a DVD of the grandchildren from birth to present as Christmas present. What do I need to use or do to be able to watch on any DVD player as well as the computers?

    Hi me01
Welcome to apple discussions. Try using 99 photos / less to avoid issues with audio fades / drops. Also do a search for Memorex on this forum and you'll see it's not the first choice of dvd's for most users. Instead try Verbatim, Maxell, or Taiyo Yuden and burn at 4x from a disc image for best results. Wish you luck and feel free to post back with results or any further questions.

  • Burn DVD Issue problem

This is the Premiere forum.  You should ask in the Encore forum.

  • Is the Burning Speed Issue Ever Going To Be Fixed?

Used to burn a CD in 3 minutes, now 18-20 minutes. Like a lot of people, it will now only burn at 4X speed. Have seen a lot of posts on this, but never a response on what is going on. Don't have the burner or music on external, so it eliminates that issue. Somehow something forces the speed down, and I have tried all kinds of different cd's and they all behave the same. Has anyone been able to pinpoint or fix this problem?

The difference between USB 2 and USB 3 is mainly one of supported data transfer rates, the basics of the protocol (identifying devices, bus arbitration, etc) are the same.  The differences don't impact a keyboard at all, since the fastest data rate a keyboard is capable of generating under normal use (~150 words per minute by a phenomenally skilled typist) is many orders of magnitude slower than the average USB data transfer rate - probably quite literally a million times slower.
Most keyboards actually negotiate the port they are using down to USB 1.1 mode, as they make best use of that particular data transfer scenario (less data more often with less latency on the initial packet of a transfer).
Generally, when people ask about a keyboard being "updated" to USB 3, they mean they want the additional USB ports on the keyboard to support USB 3, not that teh keyboard itself use USB 3.
In any case, your situation sounds more like a bad keyboard to me...have you tried using a different Apple Extended Keyboard with the iMac?

  • Burn/Playback Issue

    Strange problem here:
Been burning DVDs of my short film using an image file made from DVD Studio Pro with no problems prior. DVDs I've burned today have begun to have problems:
The first was a playback freezing problem at or around the same spot on several DVDs but strangely not all of them
The second, and strangest to me, is that all these DVDs I've burned today do play on DVD players but none of them will play on my Macbook.
I tried replacing the original image file, which seemed to fix the first problem, but not the second.
Any ideas what the issue(s) might be??

What blank media are you using?

  • Burning disc issues

I keep getting medium write errors when trying to burn a CD in both iPhoto & iTunes.  What is causing this issue & what can I do to correct it.  Any and all help is appreciated.
    Thanks - Jeff

    Two possible easons:
    1. The Superdrive needs a clean: use a standard CD/DVD lens cleaner that utilizes tiny brushes.
    2. Poor media: try a different brand. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and Maxell are the favourites here.

  • Cdrecord -scanbus doesn't find burner--udev issue?

    Hi there,
I just tried to burn my weekly backup, but xcdroast was complaining it couldn't find any devices. So I tried the different scanbus options as root:

I'm running the stock Arch 2.6.10 kernel.
Now, burning worked just fine last week. Since then, I updated udev, and I had quite a few issues getting my optical drives to work properly again (DVD couldn't be read and whatnot). But I'm at a loss where I should start looking for a solution for this problem. Any hints or ideas what's wrong now?
    93,
    -Sascha.rb

Na, no offence taken. It's typical for me to search for a solution to a problem for hours, finally posting a question on the boards just to stumble over a very easy solution (e.g. re-installing the cd burning tools) minutes later. It always makes me feel stupid.
I'm very happy with Arch's udev implementation indeed. Had hardly any problems switching from devfs, and the wiki helped lots with permissions and whatnot.
Question, though--as suid doesn't seem to work for cdrecord any longer, how can users burn CDROM with nautilus-cdwriter? It's not a real problem with xcdroast (thanks to its wrapper, if that doesn't work just start it with sudo), but how to get it working for nautilus?

  • Burning CD issues *it seems like everyone else too* Error Number 4280

Has anyone figured out what to do with this burning CD's issue that it seems like everyone is having? Now I'm gettng "Error 4280" and I've NEVER had any problems before! It all of a sudden just started, and I JUST want to burn a couple of CD's! I'm not sure what version of iTunes I'm on, but I think the newest one, and now I'm having nothing but trouble. I'm worried about losing my library too and don't know about un-installing and re-installing either. Are they working on this? Does anyone know? I don't know if I even want to purchase any new music at this point ...
    Thanks for any advice!

Nope, didn't work, it was already on "Audio CD", even tried buying some new CD's specifically made for music. iTunes knows that have a huge problem with this and they don't care. How dare they just ignore the fact that they screwed up with the new upgrade and not respond at all to this situation. There is honestly nothing else I can think of to do to be able to burn CD's *not to mention that I waste a CD everytime I try, because someone said not to use cd-rw*. I ran all the diagnostics and it said everything as fine. IT'S ITUNES ITSELF.
Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate any suggestions.
Once again, if anyone can think of anything at all that might be causing this problem, please let me know ...
    Alyssa

  • Burning Music issue

I was planning on burning some music from iTunes on to a cd, so i put the cd in, and I put all of the disc info in. When I pressed "burn" it said "disc burner or software not found." What does this mean, and how can I fix it?

Post over in the iTunes forum area.
This area is for iPod Nano technical issues.

  • DVD Drive & Burner App Issues

Hey guys, I've searched the forums for several days on this but can't see to find the fix.
I've been running Arch for about 2.5 years, upgrading daily, and all was going well, but yesterday I decided to do a fresh Arch install.  The new install went fine and I'm using it now, but I'm having some troubles with my DVD drive and any CD/DVD burner apps that I try to use.  Those same apps worked perfectly in my old install.
K3b now launches very slowly on the first start but it does detect both, my dvdr, and cdrw drives.  However, on a K3b restart during the same Linux session, it only sees the cdrw drive.  If I reboot and restart K3b, the process is repeated.
Graveman just hangs on trying to detect my drives on the first start, and it has to be killed manually.  It never gets past detecting the first drive.
    cdrecord gives this:
    $ cdrecord -scanbus
    scsibus1:
    1,0,0 100) 'PLEXTOR ' 'DVDR PX-740A ' '1.01' Removable CD-ROM
    1,1,0 101) 'PLEXTOR ' 'CD-R PREMIUM ' '1.06' Removable CD-ROM
    1,2,0 102) *
    1,3,0 103) *
    1,4,0 104) *
    1,5,0 105) *
    1,6,0 106) *
    1,7,0 107) *
    fstab looks like this:
    $ cat /etc/fstab
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
    none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
    /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
    /dev/cdrom1 /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
    /dev/sdb1 /mnt/flash vfat user,noauto,noatime 0 0
    /dev/fd0 /mnt/fd0 vfat user,noauto 0 0
    /dev/sda6 / ext3 defaults 0 1
    /dev/sda7 swap swap defaults 0 0
    /dev/sda8 /home ext3 defaults 0 1
I didn't have any modules in rc.conf before the new install and all worked well, so I didn't put any there this time either.  I've tried reinstalling K3b, Graveman, and the kernel, but none of that helped.
It seems to me that this all has something to do with the new drive naming scheme, but I'm not sure.
Anyone have any clues on a fix for this one?
    Thanks in advance.
    oz

    Hi, T-Dawg
Yep, graveman still hangs, so it might not really be K3b's fault, but a possible kernel problem instead.  However, the current kernel works fine with the previous version of KDE.  In the bug report mentioned above, someone claimed this issue will be fixed with the 2.6.22 kernel, so I guess we'll know soon enough.
Command line burns work perfectly so I'll keep using that and skip on hard coding the device to sr0 for now.  Might do that if the new kernel doesn't work, though.
    Thanks for your help.
    oz
Edit:  I've tried k3b 1.0.3-1 that just came out earlier today, but it has the same problem.  Gotta go all the way back to version 1.0.1 to get things working again.

  • Burn tool issues

This is going to sound stupid, but I can't access the burn tool. Photoshop defaults to the dodge tool, but when I go to click on the the corner, it won't display the burn and sponge options. Am I missing something? None of the tools will show me the other options. Am I doing something wrong or do I have a faulty program?

Depending on your Preferences you should be able to select the alternate Tools either with repeated hitting of O or shift-O.
But as with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.

  • Burning/playback issues

The problem I am having is after burning the disc, the disc will only play in select G5's (not all the G5's in here) but not on G4's. I went through everything from: Select Build/Format, setting the destination for the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders, then selecting the Output: DVDR Drive, etc, then going through the other tabs and setting them up accordingly, then select BUILD/FORMAT and it burns, to just hitting burn, to even saving just the AUDIO and VIDEO TS files to my hard drive and trying to burn it in toast and still the same problem occurs. Its not my computer because I have tried burning it on other computers to the same results. Some computers don't even recognize the dvd and spit it out before even mounting on the desktop.
The data itself is less than a gig total, they are all just quicktime movies, nothing special to them, didnt use compressor. Menus were made in photoshop.
So does anyone know what the deal is? Please help!
    Thanks!
    G5 Super drive, G4 ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It "could" be the media. I have had similiar things happen to me when i tried to use crappy Maxell DVD-R's.
But just in case, here is a good workflow for authoring a DVD.
Edit footage in FCP (or other editing program)
Export out as a self contained .mov file. 48khz, 16 bit Stereo audio.
Open Compressor, encode with 7.4mbps max video, and Dolby Digital 224kbps max for audio. Do not use AIFF audio or mix aiff and ac3 in the DVD.
    Author DVD. Check All Regions.
When ready to Build/Format, select Output: Harddrive
This saves a .img file to your drive.
Drag the .img file into Toast>Copy>Image
Burn DVD at lowest speed possible. 4X should be fine.
    See how that goes.
If it doesn't work, then switch media.
I use Verbatim and Sony 8x or 16x and have very good luck.

  • G5 iMac burning cd issue

I attempted to burn some files to a cd today. My burner is the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J:
The cd's and dvd's I have are compatible.
I load the cd, the finder prompt appears as normal, I click ok.
I drag the items to the cd and click burn. I chose 8x speed.
It goes thru the motions as usual, but spits out the cd implying it's not successful.
The message that appears reads: "This disc could not be verified and might be unreliable. Try again using a new, blank disc. (Error code 0x80020063)"
I assumed it didn't work, tried 2 more, same response.
I then checked to see if there was anything on the cds and yes, all 3 burned, successfully and are readable.
Mind you I've used these cd's in the past w/no problem. I also just installed Leopard, and my computer is fully updated.
Any idea? Is mine about to fail like the numerous other reports?
Is there a utility or app in our OS that allows us to check the workings of the burner? If so, what, where, and how?
    Thank you.

    Not sure.
But I do have a similiar problem with mine.
I created a playlist of the songs that I wanted to burn.
It has only 14 tracks (enough for a CD)
But everytime I burn, it shows "Burning (song name)"
But neihter the bar not is the track moves on.
It just stays there in the first track.
But if I burn the songs through Roxio Toast, it could be done.
    This happened 3 times already.
All components in my iMac have been updated to the latest software.
    Maybe it's the firmware.
Just want to know the answer to my problem
