Burned cd's problem

Hey everyone.
I got a very strange problem -
When I insert a burned cd (with data on it), tiger deals with it as I insert a blank cd.
(The "Blank cd" massage appears, - - what do I want to do with this cd...)
What do I have to do?

I originally posted this message under the Itunes message board but my inability to burn is showing its ugly face outside of Itunes. I have a Panasonic superdrive installed on April/06 and I have OS 10.4.11 and Itunes 8.2.1(6).
I am currently receiving a disc error message of "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media." This now happens when I try to burn a Cd or try to back-up my purchases onto a disc on Itunes.
When I put a music Cd into the try the disc is spat out without any error message.
I have tried to burn a disc via finder first using a song file from my Itunes library and a second disc with an Iphoto Jpeg. After both attempts I received the same error code: 0x800Z006D. I have not been able to find what this error code means.
Next I tried to put a previously watched DVD movie in the superdrive and after a few minutes (approx 3 min) the DVD is kicked out. This also happens if I put an Apple install disc (such as Ilife) in the tray. Again the disc is kicked out without reading. As I mentioned earlier this also happens if I put in an audio CD. I've tried to install a laser lens cleaner, but this disc was also spat out.
I entered my Utilities folder and clicked on 'Console' and after I tried to load a DVD movie this message showed up in the window:
2009-07-31 10:21:20.908 DiskImages UI Agent252 Could not find image named 'background'.
Can't load ///usr/standalone/i386/boot.efi
Error while getting file ID of /System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi. Ignoring...
Workaround Bonjour: Unknown error: 0
I am now on 8.2.1(6) after having burn issues with 8.1
I am lost. Is this a hardware, program, driver issue?

Burned cassette sound problems on Shuffle

The situation: I have burned a lot of old cassettes(factory made) and put them on Shuttle thru iTunes. Problem: I only get sound in left channel of ear pieces of pod. Apple gave me a new pod and ear sets . And 3rd party ear pieces do a single side too. Still same problem. Use Final Vinyl and/ or Audio In for software. Every other format used with these cassettes(burnt cd, iTunes, etc) play both ear pieces. Is this me in recording, architecture of cassettes, or what? Factory cd's play both ears. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I am trying to remember all the gyrations I went through. As I remember there are 2 ports and a switch on the side of the iMic. I played around until I got a combination that gave me the best sound to my ears. I think one port is for a microphone and the othere is for and audio analog like a turntable/cassette input. It has been 18 months and I am on the road w/o myiMic infront of me. I am sure that there are instrustions from Griffin online to help you out. My iMic was a USB 1.1 and it worked fine. I used a PB Ti667 w/512 RAM. I found that not all turntables were up to the task of good sound output to the iMic. My cassette deck (hi end) was as good as the tape it came from. The tapes were my road tapes from early 1980's. The quality was very good considering the age (20+ years). I can only suggest otherwise that the patch cords are in good condition and performing up to spec.

Burning to disc problem

I did a search first and found only one problem and answer dealing with the mac allowing only 1 burn to a disc. I am disappointed and not happy if this cannot be overcome.
Is there a way to not have the system make the discs "read only" after just one burn to it? On my old windows system, I could keep adding until the disc was full - even on separate burns. That was logical. This problem is not. What am I doing wrong?
I have dual superdrives and am using Menorex CD-RW. Now, the CD's will burn, but only once. And I KNOW there is room on the disc for other photos.
And it will also not allow discs previously burned, that have room on them, to be utilized.
If anyone knows what I am doing wrong, let me know please. I did look in the manuals too, but could not find anything.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, iPhoto and Tiger does not support multiple burns to a -R disk. If you're burning using the Share->Burn menu option you don't want to do multiple burns to the same disk as that will not let iPhoto use the disk as intended, that is mount in iPhoto and have the photos, rolls, albums and keywords available.
If you're burning via the Edit->Export->File Export menu route then you can using a 3rd party application (search VersionTracker.com for burn or multiple burns, etc.). You'll have to export to a folder on the desktop and then burn that folder via the 3rd party application.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Burning DVD-R Problem

Recently I decided to save some larger files on a DVD-R. Aftering burning, I'll click on the disque to make sure the file burned. The file would open without problems. However, if I eject the disque, then re-insert it, it won't read. Just eventually eject. So far, I've run through three DVD-R's. I've plugged in a regular pre-recorded DVD, which opened fine. And I've never had any problems burning CD's.
Is there some burning setting I'm missing? I think it's been set on the fastest. Or is it the DVD-R brand, picked up at Radio Shack?

Welcome to the discussions.
There are a few things to remember, when burning DVD's
It is a good practice, DO NOT use or have other APPlications Running while Burning a DVD Project. NO Browsing the Internet, or other Programs Open and Running.
Apple's Burning Software is funtional to a point.
If you are a serious DVD burner, Use one of Roxio's Software. Toast-7 or Popcorn.
Burning DVD's is very RAM Intensive. 512 will work but not to optimum preformance. Where Ram is concerned MORE IS ALWAYS BETTER.
Depending on the exact burner Apple has placed in your computer it looks like your burner will only burn at 1X or 2X tops. This will take 2 to 4 hours at this speed. Reading, Writing, and Verifing is time consuming.
Last but not least the Quality of the Media you use can also play a huge role in your ability to burn a pristine copy of any project.
I recommend DVD-R Media.
There is a big difference in the Speed you use as well.
Read the packaging and make sure the media you use will read and write
1X,2X,4X,8X,16X. The newer Good Quality Media will give you these options. I personally use ( Maxell 16X DVD-R)
Only the Newest Burners will burn at the higher speeds like 8X.

BURN AND UPLOAD PROBLEMS - VERSION 9 IS A MESS

I LOVE MY IPOD/ITUNES AS LONG AS I LEAVE IT ALONE.
EVERY TIME I AN FORCED TO UPGRADE I HAVE NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!
NOW I WAS GIVEN A NEW IPOD 160G AND I WAS FORCED TO GO FRON VER 7 TO VER 9 IN TUNES OR I COULD NOT USE THE IPOD. SO I DID AND NOW I CAN'T BURN A CD AND IT TAKES 6 TIMES THE LENGHT OF A CD TO TRANSFER TO MY ITUNES LIBRARY.
I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY AS BIG AS APPLE CAN DO THIS. IF YOU LOOK ONTO THE INTERNET YOU READ DOZENS OF PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. NOW I HAD MY IT GUY LOOK INTO IT AND HE HAD TO GO CHANGE THE REGISTRY???? WHATEVER.. AND NOW BURN WORKS.
I STILL CAN'T UPLOAD A MUSIC CD TO MY ITUNES IN LESS THAN 24 MIN FOR A 3 MIN SONG.

I feel your pain. I got my quad core Mac Pro three weeks ago, and it was a lemon. I bought it to replace a G5 that was a lemon. The Mac Pro rebooted whenever it was woken from sleep, The fans revved. I had endless loops of kernel panics. Couldn't update the system software (it froze). I followed all the advice from the Apple web site, but it didn't help. I had enough after one week and sent it back. Received my new one and its running great.
If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate returning it, if you can. At least contact Apple. I made the mistake of waiting with my G5 and it ended up costing me $850 to replace the logic board—only for the problems to return.

Rendering (Ken Burn, Themes, etc) problem cause by QT Quartz Composer?

Does everyone get this some error in their system log?
looks like Ken Burn rendering is caused by the following error:
Quartz Composer QuickTime Component: Error in CompositionMediaHandlerSetHints() at line 1872: Runtime reset failed
And preview for Themes error:

I don't know whether QT 7.5 is your problem. Apple has upgraded that program to 7.5.5, which apparently cured some of the problems with the earlier version.

Premier elements 10 can't find a burner when using Windows 8.1 Would using a USB disc burner solve the problem?

Using Premier Elements10 with Windows8.1, the program cannot detect a burner. I understand that Windows8 designates the burner as a DVD in order to facilitate drag and drop. I don't want to get too technical and want to know if purchasing an external USB disc burner will solve the problem. Will premier elements be able to detect this burner OK. I don't want to spend the money unless I am fairly certain that it will work.

There is no guarantee that you will not get a blank field for Premiere Elements Burner Location using any internal or external Blu-ray DVD CD burner or DVD CD burner.
If you go with an USB external burner, just make sure you have the back up of return/money back from the seller.
If you are dealing with just a DVD CD burner, you might try the following if you have not already

You might also want to consider an uninstall/reinstall of Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 8.1 64 bit following the scheme of
a. uninstall the usual Control Panel route
b. free ccleaner run through CCleaner - Download
c. reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled

TS1436 You Do Not have enough acess privaledges for this functrion ? This is the message I get when I try to burn a cd. This has just started recently. been burning w/o problems

This didn't help. I have the same issue. I created a new account in order to fix a recurrent problem opening IWork 09 after upgrading to Mountain Lion. I had tried all the suggested solutions for that with no luck. I also could not export anything in Preview. The export dialog would not come up. Restoring my original account did not work. So as a last resort I had to create a new account and transfer everything over from the old one. Now I cannot sync my Iphone. I repaired permissions, and still get the same error. This Mountain Lion upgrade has really messed EVERYTHING UP. And I notice pretty much NO difference in the OS, certainly not enough to justify all these headaches.
Now I am trying to restore my Iphone and see if that helps. Hopefully it won't cause more problems and I lose everything I already have on the phone.
There is an update to the software, so maybe that's it. But I don't know. I also don't know if I'll be able to use the Iphone backup that was supposedly created just ten minutes ago on my computer.
Oh, and I was able to get Preview to export things successfully at first when I created my account, but now it won't again. This is on the NEW account. EVERYTHING IS MESSED UP!!! I haven't even bothered to try and run IWork 09 yet.

Burn to DVD - Problem

I want to back up my iPhoto library to DVD using the finder. I followed the instructions: exported to a folder, inserted a DVD-R, dragged the folder onto the DVD disk icon, burned the disk by selecting File > burn disk. When I double-clicked on the disk to check if it burned, it seemed OK, and the photos opend with Preview.
BUT when I ejected the disk, then reinserted it, it spun for a while and automatically ejected. This has happened several times with several disks. What am I doing wrong?
I have not experienced this problem with CD's, just with DVD's

Burning a movie problem.

Hey guys I have a movie (avi format) and want to burn it to a dvd. First off, ive wasted 3 disks on this and no success. So heres the problem, I got my movie and played it on my computer using quicktime and i got no audio and no video. I downloaded DivX and i got visual but no audio. I uninstalled DivX and installed VLC. I used the VLC player to play my movie on the computer and it worked perfectly. Now when i burned my movie to a dvd i got no sound and no video.
What could be the solution to this annoying problem?

That should have been the first clue. I think I'd try Visual Hub or as mentioned above Toast over the third party QT plug ins you mentioned above. The one you installed can cause iDvd'08 to behave erratically and the same is true of Perian btw.

DRM & Burned DVD's Problems

Hello,
I have burned iTunes purchased video's to a DVD. It will not play on my DVD player but will on my iTunes.
I suspect that DRM is causing this issue. I have tried this before with my media player and hard drive and that is how I came accross DRM.
My question is: is there a method to remove or prevent the addition of DRM to iTunes bought video?
I have looked into DRM removal software, I found it to be much to tedious because of the constant ad bombardment and the amount of time it takes to rip the files and "un-DRM" them.
My apologies if this question has been previously answered for I am new to the forums.

Sorry to hijack this topic but it seemed like the quickest way to get my question to you as you will obviously know the answer
I have some .MOV video files (I think this is the quicktime extension used by iTunes as well?) these are home movies (holiday) taken on a mini camcorder type device. Anyway I want to burn them to a DVD that is playable on a DVD player (not a PC or playstation) so I can share them with some (very non techie) relatives.
Can I do this in iTunes? There are obviously not DRM issues.
When I try to do this I can't see how to change the disc format from CD to DVD, but from this thread (and others) it appears that I can;t do it in iTunes anyway??
If it can't be done in iTunes please can you recommend a cheap and easy way to do it? I have tried using various free download files converters to covert the .MOV files to .AVI and .WMV files and burning them using Power DVD Director but I end up without the audio!
I have spent most of today on this and getting very fed up now I cannot believe how hard this is putting my own holiday videos onto DVD!

Trying to burn a DVD Problems!!

I am tryin to burn a DVD from IDVD , when I insert the DVD in (creating your DVD) it tells me I have 1hour & 30mins. in time remaining , aprox. 30mins. into the burning process the DVD ejects & states ( multiplexing & burning with 1 hour left ) as mentioned the DVD is ejected & states done !!! . With nothing being burned onto the DVD ??? Can someone help please !!! Thank you Pat !!

BURNING AVI & MPG PROBLEMS

So I finally figured out how to convert avi and mpeg files using into a format that iDVD can recognize. By using the program X-Ray 4, I am able to burn avi and mpg. However, in order to remove the logo, I have to register the program with a serial number. When I try to do that, the website says the company is no longer in business...
Does anyone know of another program or another way to do this?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
