Burned DVD images only appear sharp near end of loaded time in screen

Hi, I am new to the list. I have produced a slide show in iDVD with still photos, music and some video. Everything is fine except when I view the final presentation on my TV or with a DVD projector.
The Problem:
The images load and transition fine except they appear somewhat bitmapped or not sharp until just before the transition to the next slide then it sharpens. This happens with every image. It's as though the image is loading and then finally loads at the last half second to full resolution. Because of this the photos lack any detail until the very last second.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yup, and some transitions are worse than others. To avoid the problem you have two choices: 1. don't use any transitions in iDVD slideshows, or 2. (which is the best approach) create your slideshows in iPhoto or iMovie. (There are also third party photos to slideshow applications, but give iPhoto or iMovie a try first.)

  • HELP! MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, and...

    Hi all
I noticed that there many of you have the same problem, but I really need some advice here, my MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, well actually occasionally it does recognise the DVDs then it burn but cannot write (on Toast), also in many other apps, like iDVD or DVDSP, it does run well on the first part of the burning but then failed at the end, with all kinda diff error msg. I have tried using many diff brands of disc too, inc verbatim.
So I borrowed my friends external DVD writer (actually a cheapy one with no brand), when I tried to burn using the external then an error msg comes up and says the writer cannot recognise the disc.
I dont wana get the MBP to repair but just wana get a external DVD writer to solve the problem, cos i need to use my computer and dont have a replacement mac, but now I am worry if the problem i now having is a system problem or just hardware, not sure if it is because the DVD writer i borrow is cheapy so it doesnt cope with mac, or just my MBP have system error that cant burn DVDs...
But my MBP can burn CDs so it is not a hardware problem? and if that is a system problem so even I buy a new DVD writer wont solve the problem?
btw, I have tried many solving methods like rewriting permission, reset PVRAM, etc
    PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HELP

I'm having the same problem you are on my 2.4GHZ Core2Duo MBP running 10.5.2. It will sometimes recognize DVDs, sometimes not... it chuggs and clunks and then spits the disc out. If i re-insert it a view times it will show up on the desktop. I get failures from Toast as well as iDVD. If i keep trying i have been able to burn files onto a disc with the finder, but then the burner fails during the verification. If put the disc back in the contents appear to be correct (after a quick look). Burning CD-Rs seems to be working fine, that with the occasional DVD write seems to point away from the HW. I am trying with both Memorex DVD+RW and Verbatim DVD-Rs...
I have tried the command/option-PR reset combo with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,

  • TS3297 After downloading the latest version of iTunes, the store will not load. It appears as if it has loaded, but the screen remains blank.

After downloading the latest version of iTunes, the store will not load. It appears as if it has loaded, but the screen remains blank.

I have the same problem and have been fighting with it for several days. I think the last thing that I did before this happened was to let Quicktime update itself. When I open itunes and click on store, the connecting bar gets halfway and then stops. That leaves me with the white store page, if I leave it alone for a bit, I see words as in names of singers and but no pictures.
I have ran the diagnostics and see no problems at all, no event logs in windows, no errors at all. I've un-installed itunes and re-installed but no change. I'm using Norton 360 from comcast. I have windows 7 pro 64 bit. Also, the help in itunes doesn't display.
I put in a ticket with apple and the response I got back basically told me to do what I've already done. I created a new user and have the same issue.
Any help at all will be very much appreciated. I think this started August. 8, 2011.
    thanks so much for reading

  • Images not appearing sharp and with posterization

Some RAW CR2 images taken with Canon EOS 1D Mk11 appear perfect when viewed in the Canon software. I can then save them as TIFFS from this software but cannot manipulate them in it. When the same RAW images are opened in Photoshop CS3, they appear un sharp and in one case there is posterization around a bright light - something that does not happen in the Canon software. Any ideas???
    Thank you

    Sharpness -
I would guess that the Canon software is showing you the image with an unreasonably high amount of sharpening applied. Their defaults are not good, you should reset them if you're going to use the Canon converter.
    Posterization -
What you're seeing in Camera Raw is an artifact that's unique to that converter. It is the one reason I still use Capture One for images that have level 255 transitions. The Canon converter handles those transitions smoothly as well.

  • Dynamic Image ONLY appearing in Safari

I am trying to create a page that uses a URL variable to get
a value from a database and use it to display an image on a page.
When I preview the page in Safari, the image appears. When I
preview the page in Firefox or IE, the
alt text appears instead of the image. The HTML code on the
page seems pretty clear, but as I said, this is my first time
    trying it.
I am using DW8 on a Mac powerbook.
I have included the page source code here. The photo
'tiger.tif' is supposed to be displayed.

    I just checked - FF2 and IE6, both on Win2K, won't display
    TIFFs. JPEGs,
GIFs and PNGs should all be OK.

  • Burned DVD can only viewed from Comp. it was made on.

I am ready to scream! I have burned over 15 copies of the same movie and none of them can be read anywhere but the g5 it was made on. I have tried compressing the movie in 3 different ways, I have changed the format of the dvd being burned, I have read and read but I am finding no answers. I am using K Hypermedia DVD+R discs. Can anyone help?

Try DVD-R - they might be more compatible, especially in set top DVD players

  • Images only appear for a few seconds, then vanish.

Why is that happening? I have set Safari to display images when the page loads, but it only displays them briefly, and then they disappear.
Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

    HI,
If you use 3rd party add-on SAFT, go to the Safari Menu>Block Images and Plug-ins and make sure it is not selected.

  • Matshita UJ-867 (6!) won't burn DVD images outside of Disk Utility

Hi, I have a new MacBook Pro and Apple seems to have upgraded the SuperDrive to a Matshita UJ-867 model. It seems that this is causing some problems with 3rd party software. I am trying to burn a .nrg file so I have to use Toast 8, but it failed with the sense error 0x09 0x04: "HEAD SELECT FAULT". It's pretty much an error that Google doesn't seem to recognize at all, so I thought my drive was just borked, but it seems that Disk Utility can burn a normal ISO file (it obviously doesn't support .nrg) just fine.
I also tried with the open source Burn utility and got the same sense error. I'm guessing/hoping this is a software problem that Apple ought to fix in a SuperDrive update sometime, but I'd like to hear from other people with UJ-867 drives and see if they can burn things in 3rd party apps.

I have new MBP, arrived last week. Came with UJ-875. Using Toast 9.x, I got the same error on the first burn of a dual layer DVD+R DL. The second is burning (verifying, burning done) as I write. I did change the source media though. I'll be trying several other burns to make sure I don't have an issue. This MBP is still under warrantee. One way to get apple to listen is to make them replace faulty hdwr. If I do have an issue, they can replace the drive at their cost, or send me a new laptop. People listen when it costs them money...

  • How do I get a burned DVD (the only copy) back into Final Cut to re-edit?

The project is long over, the files gone. What do I need to do to re-import this into Final Cut, or even i-Movie to do some other editing?

If you have original DV tapes and the FCE Project File, Capture Project will do it all automatically.
If not, you will have to convert the Mpeg files on the DVD to one that FCE can work with and bring the converted file to FCE as one clip.
Search this forum for how to, there's plenty of info here.

  • Burn DVD Image on multiple recorders

I need to make 150 copies of a iDVD/iPhoto slide show. Can I use multiple external DVD-RW recorders to accomplish this along with my SuperDrive? If so, how do I set it up in Disk Utility? Thanks!

This post is really intended for the OP / ProShots. Sorry Klaus1 that I posted it as a reply to you but I was unable to delete my post in order to address it to the OP instead...
Suggestion: Do not make 150 copies on one S-Drive alone. You will need at least two separate burners to do this and hopefully a bay of drives/burners.
If not, do what was already suggested and sub this kind of work out to someone who will make reliable copies for you.... hopefully an outfit that specializes in quality DVD copies. What you have is called a "shot run" of DVD's and there are places that do this type of work more reliably than you can with one or two S-Drive/s. You may want to use Google for your nearest locations. Hope the above info is Helpful and good luck.

  • Video "jigsaw" artifacts appear when camera pans on burned DVDs

I've been pulling my hair out for days as I export endless new sequences at different settings and then burn DVDs, only to find that the problem does not go away. The issue is the infamous "jigsaw" artifact effect, or whatever you want to call it, meaning that when viewing the resulting DVDs, when the camera pans, images "tear" and kind of spazz out. This seems most noticeable when panning past straight vertical objects, but is not limited to only this circumstance. My suspicion is that this is all the result of an interlacing issue in iDVD, but I have certainly learned that I am capable of overlooking the obvious or being wrong. What I don't understand is that with all of us out there working on Avids and using iDVD, either there does not seem to be a unified ideal export setting that resolves this issue, or I am having a comparatively unique problem. The shame is that most of the DVDs are looking great, and it is only this one issue that is sabotaging completion of this project. I'm at my wits end, so any and all knowledgeable help is supremely appreciated. Help me keep my hair.
When viewing any of these exported clips within quicktime player, the jigsaw is not visible. But when viewing the burned DVDs on my Mac, the jigsaw is visible.
When viewing the burned DVDs on my Panasonic HDTV (TH-42PX75U) the jigsaw is visible. When viewing the burned DVDs on my Sony Trinitron Production monitor (non HD), the jigsaw is visible.
Avid Software: Avid Xpress DV 3.5.0
Editing system info: Mac G4 "Mirror door" model - Dual 1.2 Ghz PowerPC - memory 1024 MB
OS Software on Editing System - OS X version 10.2.3
Quicktime version on Editing system: QT version 6.3
Software used to burn DVDs: Idvd 8 version 7.0.1
Computer used to burn DVDs: MacBookPro3,1 - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz (codec downloaded from Avid and installed - prior post about video not displayed in QT exports was due to missing codec)
Quicktime version on Computer used to burn DVDs - QT Version 7.4 (92) (with Pro upgrade)
    DVD media used: TDK DVD-R 8X 4.7GB
Info on sequence I am burning - A 1 hour and 50 minute program of African wildlife footage all shot on regular mini DV tapes. Camera used was the Panasonic AGDVX100A on the 24 frame setting that does not require a software fix (the correction is done in camera). All the footage was digitized using this camera. When viewing any of these exports afterward within quicktime player, the "jigsaw" is not visible. It only becomes visible after burning them and then watching the dvd. All burns in iDVD 8 are using the "professional" burn mode.
Export settings from Avid and iDVD 8 result summary -
    1) Exported at "same as source" from Avid yields arguably the absolute worst result, as I rather suspected with the whole field / interlacing issue, but I was feeling hopeful.
    2) Trying to bypass Quicktime by using "dvstream" as the export setting also yields a very poor result. This jigsaw problem does not occur, but the resulting image is terrible. Very milky blacks, the compression is worse, as in much more noticeable, than any other export, and the image is soft and thin looking, rather anemic, and it ruins the visuals completely. What is a bit odd to me however is that I had been using dvstream to burn DVDs of other projects for years on prior versions of iDVD and it never seemed to be a problem. As I tried this one first, without having the Avid codec installed in my MacBook (which I use to burn as I can run iDVD8 on it, also meaning that trying quicktime reference is not an option, I must export, then move the completed export to my macbook pro), I am currently exporting it one more time to see if installation of the codec fixes the horrible compression and color result, but I am not hopeful at all.
    3) Tried using an Avid forum suggestion that recommended using 720 X 480 - crop/pad - RGB color levels - even (lower field first) - native dimension 720 x 480. No good.
    4) Another Avid forum suggestion to try the "Animation" setting for video
instead of "Avid DV" is not a viable option. The infamous "2 GB limit" message
comes up as the export nears completion and aborts. This message does not appear
with any other export setting. When cutting my sequence in half, the same problem occurs. Even if I could get it to work, the result would be useless if it meant I had to send people several DVDs of the program chopped up into little bits.
    5) Heres a summary of other export attempts all using Quicktime movie and "Avid DV" for video, keeping in mind the info I read about how at least one version of iDVD had the field order (ntsc vs pal)reversed a while back. I would expect that Apple has fixed this problem by now, but just in case...
    a) odd field - 720 x 486 - 601 - crop/pad - 4:3 Non-square
    b) odd field - 720 x 480 - 601 - crop/pad - 4:3 Non-square
    c) even field - 720 x 486 - 601 - crop/pad - 4:3 Non-square
    d) even field - 720 x 480 - - 601 - crop/pad - 4:3 Non-square
Suggestions to buy a different dvd burning program or new software are nice and all, but I simply cannot afford it. I also have a fear that if I were to try a different program that the same darn thing would happen, as no one seems to be able to say with 100% certainty that this specific problem would be fixed. The only thing that would be worse than my sense of hopelessness and helplessness at present would be spending more money and still not having this maddening issue be resolved.
Help... and thanks to any of you who take the time to read this epic length post and reply!

PROBLEM SOLVED! Thanks to having downloaded Toast 8, the dreaded interlacing has disappeared. The first test made me nervous. I exported from Avid using Sorenson and using the "automatic" settings for Toast's detection of fields etc. The DVD still had the jigsaw at the same spots, but it was not as pronounced as some of the tests with iDVD. I then exported "same as source" and used the advanced settings in Toast to tell it "lower field" and maxed the compression settings as much as I could without exceeding disc space. The DVD result is the best looking I've seen so far and all interlacing artifacts are gone! Thanks to Blackdog at the Avid Forum. I now know this interlacing problem was 100% the fault of iDVD 8 and will be using Toast from now on.
