Burned dvd stops before last slide

I had about 125 photos in a slideshow I just burned on a DVD. It plays fine until photo 65 and then stops. My save show plays all the way through in IDVD but the burned dvd stops. Any ideas why or what I can do? It is not a rewritable DVD.

Second:
Create a disk image and see how that plays. Your burned DVD should function the same way. Might be media-related.
I recommend a disk image burned to Verbatim DVD-R at 4X or slower using Toast or Disk Utility.
David Pogue also recommends Verbatim on page 356 of his latest book:
iMovie HD & iDVD 6: The Missing Manual

If you don't have a SuperDrive you will not be able to burn DVDs.
Did iDVD come preinstalled on your Mac?  If it did then you should have a SuperDrive and be able to burn DVDS. Check the Disk Burning section of System Information

  • Burned DVD stops or music skips at 100th chapter

I am creating a slideshow with music in iDVD. When playing the burned dvd the music skips or the dvd stops at the 100th picture. Any fix for the problem? I noticed that iDVD automatically assigns each picture its own chapter so it could be the 100th chapter that causes the problem. If so, is there any way to have more than 1 picture per chapter?
    Thanks for your help!

The 99 photos was because, as the original poster indicates, each photo is a chapter and the Video DVD standard (nothing to do with Apple, but the industry standard) is 99 chapters max. These days many players will play past 99 chapters, but many others, especially older ones, the strictly conform to the DVD standard balk when there are more than 99 chapters.
So while iDVD will now allow slide shows past 99 photos, if you want your DVD to be compatible with the most set top players, you are better off limiting your slideshow to no more than 99 photos. If you want more, then you want to create your slideshow manually in iPhoto or iMovie and place your own chapter markers keeping the number of chapters under 100.

  • The burned dvd stops short

this is for an Eagle Court of Honor TOMORROW!
Prior to iDVD 6, slideshows were limited to 99 images - and for a good reason. Images in a slideshow are treated as Chapters and each Track (a slideshow is treated as a Track) is limited to 99 Chapters. Apple created a sort of 'hack' in iDVD 6 allowing several Tracks to be linked together creating slideshows of more than 99 images.
The problem is, MANY set-top DVD players don't like the 'hack' and will freeze after 99 images or drop the music after 99 images.
The ONLY sure way to create a slideshow with more than 99 images that will play in all DVD players is to create the slideshow as a movie in iPhoto or iMovie.

  • Stop on last slide with active buttons

    Hi everyone,
Am still a beginner with Captivate...please help:
I've got 4 buttons set up on the last slide of Movie1, functioning as a simple menu, sort of.
First button goes to Movie 2, second button jumps to Movie 5, third button jumps to Movie 8, with a last WATCH ALL button starting from Movie 2 as well. All these movies are linked to each other (ie. movie 3 starts when movie 2 finishes).
How do I get the Movie1 to stop on the last slide, with all 4 buttons remaining active?
In my published exe, the buttons work if and only if I click on them before the project comes to a stop.
    Thanks loads in advance!

    Hello again
While you can't really accomplish it with the Buttons as they stand, you can do something I did. Be creative! I inserted some "disabled" images of the buttons. Staged the images to be present when the Buttons could not be clicked. Then configured the Buttons to appear at the times when I wanted them to.
Here's a hint. If the Buttons are always in the same place, you may insert the "disabled" image on the first slide and configure it to display for the rest of the project.
    Cheers... Rick

  • LR2 Export jpeg slideshow stops before all slides exported

I have tried twice to export a slideshow of 300 slides. The first attempt stopped after 29 slides, the second stopped after 61 slides. No error messages appeared.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 4 GB memory and 179 GB free on my HDD.
How can I get LR2 to complete the export? Is this a bug?

Thank you. I checked the bug fix list for that release but couldn't see this one.
I tried the standard previews, but today's attempt exported only the first 7 files, followed by a file called "USA2008_3-007.jpeg.swp", then stopped.
I've decided to give up on this as we had no success with what we wanted to do. The slides were intended for import into Premiere Elements to produce a slideshow for use on a PAL TV, so I exported the slides at 720 x 576 (which my research tells me is the correct resolution for PAL TV) but when the resulting slideshow was played on TV the captions at the bottom of the slides were cut off. So, I will simply export the pictures from the Library module and use those.
    Thanks for the responses anyway!

  • Recording a DVD stops before movie is done

My sequence is fine and complete and I make a Quicktime movie however when I burn it I do not get the complete movie. It stops early but again plays completed in the movie and timeline? Thank you for your help.

    Hi -
Have you left in and outpoints on your timeline when you have done your Quicktime Export?
Have you looked at the exported Quicktime Movie to see if the entire contents of the timeline are present?
When you make your Quicktime Export, do you check the box for "Make Movie Self-Contained?
What DVD authoring software are you using?
    Thanks

    Hi spaceface:

    stand alone?

    Hi Sue
I am playing it in a DVD player but same problem exists when playing on the Mac. Ive re-tried and heres a copy of the error message I am receiving - probably will narrow the problem down somewhat !
Errors were found during the buring process.
The recording device reported the illegal request: Buffer underrun. (0x21, 0x02.)

  • CANT BURN DVD's

    hi
i've had this problem with my drive. I never burned dvd's before. I own a macbookpro 15' since over a year and always burned cd's but never dvd's...
until a couple of days ago, i was ripping a dvd from a party of a friend of mine and wanted to copy it with toast... toast wasn't able to copy the it giving me error messages that the source file was damaged and cannot be read.
i managed to copy it manually using "cut n paste".
i tried burning the "file" which i copied from the dvd with roxio toast, burn, and using disk utility and it also didn't work....
i tried using a different empty dvd from a different company... and it suddenly worked.
the funny thing was that the other dvd's that my mac wasn't accepting for some reason, they were accepted by my other macbook pro and i was also able to burn them using another macbook.
    why?
these are the messages i got:
the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media
could not record the disk because there's a problem with the source material - result 18771
can anyone help me please? my cd drive doesn;t to be damaged since i also burned with it different dvds and cds. but why was i getting these messages and why in particular with this dvd?
    thankx.

Hi there, I had this issue before. The solution was not stable so I had to redo the configuration every time I wanted to burn a disc.
You should go to System Preferences Language & Text settings, move English to the top of the list and set the order to English or Standard, don't remember right now, then the system had to be restarted and the burn was done, sometimes it was not and I had to do the configuration again and restart so that I could burn. And also as I created a new burn folder I had to do that again to burn, otherwise I had this not calibrated message.
Search older messages here and you'll find the hole right steps to take.
    Good luck.

  • Problem burning dvd, message not enough free disk space for encoding remaining assets

I have never had a issue with burning dvd's before now I am getting an error message

How much hard drive space do you have remaining?  How much data are you trying to burn (i.e. are you sure the capacity of the disc is high enough?)

  • Trouble burning DVD in Final Cut Pro X (stops at 66%)

I have been trying to burn a DVD on Final Cut Pro 10.1.4, but I find that it always stops the burning process at 66%.  An error does not pop up; it just simply stops at the same place every time.  I have tried burning different projects of different lengths, I have tried updating Final Cut, I've restarted the computer, and multiple other things that I've seen others have said worked for them, but every time it always stops at 66%.  I have been able to burn about 6 or 7 DVDs successfully before this problem started happening, but now I can't get a single one to work.
I seen where some said that this was a common problem in Final Cut when FCP X will hand the job to Create Disc to actually start the burn process, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried so many different processes to make it work; could someone please help!

Thank you for the reply!  I've been trying to burn each disk without an image for the menu, but I actually even seen where someone had said just to go into it and add a small picture for the background and then delete it and then hit share and that might get it to work. I've tried doing that multiple times, and it hasn't made a difference.  It still stops at 66%.   I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that might fix it.

  • Unable to burn DVDs on iMac. Folders dragged to DVD window appear as documents. DVDs from same package burned OK last year. Using Lion. CDs burn OK.

Unable to burn DVDs on 2009 iMac ( Lion ). Folders and any files dragged to DVD window appear as blank documents.
Burned DVDs from same package ( Memorex ) last year OK. CDs burn OK. DVDs are several years old, if that matters.

The music is a tune that was purchased/downloaded from the iTune store. The slide shows (five of them) consist of digital photos (jpg) that I have taken. The interesting thing is that I also have an eMac (about three years old) that I have created the same iDVD project (identical music & identical slide shows). I have been able to burn a DVD disk of this project on my eMac WITHOUT A PROBLEM. The thing I do not like about the eMac is that I purchased family pack of iLife 6 last year (because I liked some of the new Themes). However, when I installed it on my eMac, for some reason it takes about 5-10 minutes to get iDVD 6 "up and running." Once it has loaded the Themes, however, I am "good to go." I've had this computer into the "Genius Bar" at the local area Apple Store TWICE and they are unable to get it to work more efficiently. The even reinstalled the entire operating system to no avail. So, the solution is to launch iDVD 6 on my eMac and then go do something else for 5-10 minutes. But at least I am able to burn my iDVD projects to DVDs.
With my iMac, iDVD launches quickly but is useless since I am unable to burn my iDVD slide show projects to DVD.
So, as a result, I am pretty much ready to "call it a day" with the iMac and will go back to my eMac.
    Thanks for your time.
    SCC Jeff

When I burn dvd in iPhoto, it comes out with original photo plus separate close up photos of each face in original photo.  How do I get it to stop doing that?

I am reading this post in the iphoto for iOS forum. The iPad does not burn photos to a DVD. Perhaps you'll get some assistance if you posted in th general iPhoto forum.

  • Re-Toast DVD - is it the same as IDVD - That is can you burn a number of .mov slide shows on the same disk?  Thank you

Re-Toast DVD - is it the same as IDVD - That is can you burn a number of .mov slide shows on the same disk?  Thank you

Toast can author and burn video DVDs but it's not nearly as versatile as iDVD is in creating video DVDs.  Toast can only create one menu so all items must be on it, i.e. no sub-menus, no animated menus, etc.

  • Any suggestions why my Mac stopped being able to burn DVDs?

I'm trying to use my external Sony DVD read/write drive (DRX-840U model) to burn a DVD.
So I click on my disk image in Disk Utility and press burn, then I insert the blank DVD in the drive. But, today, instead of going ahead with the next dialog box (the burn speed, if I remember correctly), I'm stuck on the dialog box for
Burn Disc in: MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8123
Waiting for a disc to be inserted...
The Matshita is my internal drive (which can only burn CDs, not DVDs), so my Mac no longer knows that my external drive can burn DVDs.
The Sony drive is connected by USB. If I put a blank DVD in it, eventually I get a dialog box from the Finder that asks what action I want to take. I can select Open Disk Utility, and I'll see my Sony DVD RW DRU-840A Media in the list of drives. So OS X "sees" the drive. If I click on the Sony drive in Disk Utility, the description I'm getting is that Write Ability is "Read Only (Unknown)." I'm using the same set of blank DVDs that I've used for the last 3-4 months without problems.
    So my questions are:
    1) Will someone who has a RW drive go to disk utility and confirm that for their DVD writer, is the write ability property is Read/Write?
    2) Does anyone have any ideas what would cause the drive to no longer know how to burn DVDs? The only thing I've done with this drive since I burned a disc last month (around Dec 15) was I used it to play a couple of DVD movies. In fact, I just put in a movie to test it out, and it plays the movie okay. Was there a system upgrade that I don't remember that might've killed my driver?
    3) Anyone have any ideas how to reset a DVD writer so OS X 10.4.11 recognizes that it can write to DVDs?

No, my drive will read and write CDs but only read DVDs. It was an option to burn DVDs, and my wife's machine did that already, and I didn't need it back then, so I didn't get that upgrade. Last year, since I needed to start burning training DVDs, I got the external Sony drive -- and it's about ten times faster than the internal drive on my wife's 12" machine, so I've been very pleased with it. But now, I don't know if:
    a) the drive is having problems (possible but I'm not convinced since it's not having problems playing discs);
    b) the driver for the unit has become corrupted (but I've gone to the Sony website to download and reinstall the drivers, and there aren't any there, so that doesn't seem likely);
    c) an upgrade to OS X has broken Disk Utility; or
    d) something else.
