Burned mov file of finished video as always but on playback there is a sudden loud audio feedback-type-buzz about a minute into program. Wisdom?

Thanks for all your help and thorough answers. After trying several things
without success, I ultimately just rebooted the system and...bingo...the
problem went away. It was such an unusual problem that it just didn't occur
to me that it would be that simple. Sometimes it isn't. I appreciate your
working to help me deal with this.

  • Burning mov file to DVD

I am trying to burn my mov file to DVD. It keeps telling me that there is not enough space on the DVD even though the DVD states that it has 1 hour for HQ, 2 hours for SP, 4 hours for LP. The sequence is about 90 minutes.

You will need to set encoding to VBR and the lower the bitrate until your content can fit onto an SL DVD or opt for a DL DVD. Where are you encoding? DVDSP or Compressor?

  • .mov file has no video - playing it in Quick Time 7 on Windows XP. Help!

I work for a law firm and we received a CD which contains a .mov file. When we try to play it in Quick Time, it plays the audio, but NO video. We are trying to play it is Quick Time (version 7.7.1) on a Windows XP Pro PC. When Quick Time first opened, it gave a message saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quick Time Components page." I clicked Continue and it took me to the Components page, but it lists like 10 different components and I have no idea what we need. Can anyone provide any input as to what might be missing? Is it a CODEC? I have tried converting it to a different format usinig two different softwares and have gotten errors.

I have a .mov file that plays on my mac but when someone tries to play it on a pc, they get an error 128 message. Help! Please!

This is not the problem. We are using quicktime on the pc's and the mac. I also tried to open the file on the pc with other programs and it doesn't recognize the file. The file opens fine on my mac but I cannot save it as a new file. It says that "the end of the file was reached." The recording was made in iShowU then edited in Quicktime Pro.

  • Burning .mov file to dvd via IDVD

I created a slide show to music on IMovie. Playing the .mov file through my computer and even projected on a big screen it looks great.  But when converting it to a DVD via IDVD, the font on the couple of lines of text that I have coming up with the pictures is pixilated and really horrible.  I tried a couple of different burns and always choose best quality but the results remain the same.  The dvd created through IDVD is horrible with really badly pixilated edges on the fonts.  How can I burn DVD's so that they look as good as they do playing directly from my .mov file so that I can burn copies for others who have requested my music slide show?  I am working with a brand new MacBook Pro computer and the IMovie and IDVD programs that came with it, if that helps at all.

    Hi,
The info helps explain what's happening -- the 1080p version is widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) and physically large (1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels tall), and much more compressed than the DVCPRO50 version (the 1080p file is less than half the size even though it's more than twice the screen space).  So, iDVD would have a difficult time crushing that down into the standard DVD video dimensions.
The DVCPRO50 version is also widescreen, so you want to be sure your iDVD preference is set to 16:9 aspect ratio (if not, start a new project and re-import).
iDVD also has to crush this version to make it fit the standard 720x480 format, but not as much as the 1080p version.  Text can particularly suffer when video dimensions are altered.
Is your iMovie version gone or just won't open?
I'd be inclined to experiment with a copy of the DVCPRO50 version.  Try the free MPEG Streamclip to see if it can resize the video to 720x480 before bringing it into a 16:9 iDVD project.  Next try using Streamclip to convert the format to DV (DV Stream or .dv) to see if that format change makes iDVD happier.

  • MOV files in computer video folder don't DL to My Library in iTunes

I have several MOV files on my computer in the video folder which I would like to DL to my library in iTunes and then burn DVDs. I have tried "add file". The title appears, but the time is 00. There is no download. I have Quicktime Pro. Does anybody have a solution? I have spent hours on this but have not been successful.

    - Do you have Restrictions set that would prevent the syncing? Settings>General>Restrictions
    - Do they play in iTunes?
    - Is the format or source different that the one that do sync?

  • Different movie file sizes - different videos??

I downloaded the Flex 4 In a Week videos for offline viewing a few months ago.
Today I noticed that, in conjunction with an overhaul of the Flex In A Week web page, the movie files posted therein have changed in size.  They are several megs smaller than the corresponding videos I downloaded a few months ago.  Have the videos changed, or have they only been compressed more for faster download?
    Thanks

    Hi Gusetva,
All of the content for the videos are the same.  Looks like they just compressed the files.

  • .mov files not showing video while using Quicktime Pro

    Hi:
I'm trying to work with some .mov files that were created in DVCPRO HD format, which I understand is a Panasonic format. I've upgraded to Quicktime Pro 7.6.4 as instructed by the individual who created the .mov files. The problem is I get audio, but no video. I've also tried exporting these movie files to DV Stream and I get an error message that reads "qtKitErrorCatchAll(-8961)."
Thanks for viewing this and for any help you can provide.

The file was made by someone using Final Cut Studio?
A white playback means the codec used in the file is missing on the machine trying to view it.
Ask them to send you a version exported using H.264 video codec.

  • Exporting .mov files as .avi doesn't always work...

    Hi,
I recently bought Quicktime Pro v7.1.3 for WinXP and have been trying to use it to convert my .mov files to uncompressed .avi files. I then use Windows Media Encoder to convert the .avi files to .wmv files to play on my Xbox 360. (If you know of any easier way of getting .mov files to play on Xbox, please let me know
The first few worked fine, but then I started having problems opening some .avi files in WME (came up with an error). I tried opening the .avi file in Windows Media Player to watch it, but that didn't even work, it came up saying:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
Does anyone know the reason some .mov files will convert ok to .avi and some won't? Please help!
    Peter.
      Windows XP Pro

    Hi Kirk,
I tried the DV thing, but the video size was mucked up. I only had the choice of 4:3 or 16:9 - both of which made the video stretched.
I then realised some of my video files were 'locked' by Windows - whether that has anything to do with it, I don't know, but now they're unlocked.
Also, when exporting, I had the choice of 'Millions of colours' or 'Millions of colours+'. I didn't know what the difference was, but chose the later thinking it would somehow be better. For the video that didn't work as .avi I tried changing this to the one without the plus sign, and it works. I don't know what this does, but I think my problems are fixed.
Thanks again for all your help!
    Peter.

  • MOV file shows no video in latest QT on Windows

What's wrong with a .mov file if I have audio but no video? I'm running QT 7.7.1 on Windows.

Thanks for the reply. Here's exactly what it says:
    Format: HDV 1080p30, 1092 x 614, Millions
    16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo,
    48.000 kHz
    Movie FPS: 29.97
    Playing FPS: 29.97
    Data Size: -196682692 bytes
    Data Rate: 26.55 mbits/sec
    Normal Size: 1920 x 1080 pixels
    Current Size: 1092 x 614 pixels
Should I get something like xvid?

  • Quicktime Movie File/ MPEG-4 Video File

how come for some of my video podcasts they are in teh MPEG-4 Video file format, while others are in Quicktime Movie File format?
i was j/w this because i noticed it when i jus recently downloaded new podcasts (it was first time downloading a podcast from iTunes 7.0.2) and i was jus wonderin if there is any way to get it into MPEG-4 Video File....because i already right clicked and went to "convert selection for ipod" but then it says it is already in that format, but it is in Quicktime Movie File....
    any help would be appreciated
    Thanks,
    Brandon

Quicktime files can be MPEG-4 video, and should be
    transferable to your iPod.
If you get info on the video file in question what
    does it say?
when i click get info it says the kind/type is a quicktime movie file.....i was jus mainly wondering why some podcast videos have quicktime video file, while others have the mpeg-4 video file...its almost like and OCD (obssesive complusive disorder) thng for me.....but as long as they can still transfer to the ipod i should be fine....

  • .MOV files not playing video???

I bought a new JVC GY-HM100U HD camera, this camera saves files in native Final Cut Pro .mov files. When I try to play them back on my Imac or 2 laptops with Quicktime I only get audio files to play.
I went down to Apple store and the files played on new Imac. I have newest QT application, I can't figure why they don't play video, ANY IDEAS???

Make sure you have the following installed:
    Flip4Mac
    VLC Media Player
    Perian (AVI and FLV support)
The latest version of Adobe Flash Player Software
Also, don't forget to repair permissions & restart your computer after the installations.
