Burning 2 quicktime movies onto one DVD using iDVD

I wonder if you could help me.
I have 2 Quick time movies - created in FCP - one hour and 10 mins each . Is it possible to put both on one DVD using iDVD? (one is the front view and other side view of a performance).
I have version 5.0.2 iDVD and am burning on desktop G5
Both movies have chapter markers (created already in FCP)
Is it possible to do this and how do I do it using the right menu and proper theme etc- and right method of importing or loading the movies.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Hello Nan,
a Single Layer DVD can hold a maximum of 120 min of video (incl. menus), so either you burn 2 SL DVDs or try to put both movies on a Double Layer DVD, provided you have a burner capable of writing DL DVD.
how do I do it using the right menu and proper theme etc- and right method of importing or loading the movies.
I suggest you have a look at this tutorial by Ken Stone: Authoring with iDVD 5

hope this helps

  • ?? burn multiple iMovie movies onto one dvd with iDVD

I understand how to burn a single iMovie project onto a dvd by using the share menu to share with iDVD. But how can i burn multiple iMovie projects with iDVD onto one disc??

You can share the first movie from iMovie, but all the others will need to be exported from iMovie as movies and dragged into the iMovie project.

  • Burning a quicktime movie to a dvd

I am trying to burn a downloaded Quicktime movie onto a DVD. So far I have done so, but the DVD only plays in Quicktime, not on the regular DVD player and not with the computers DVD viewer. The Quicktime movie is in a H.264, AAC Codec format. When I try to adjust the settings under advanced and burning for the DVD I have three options for the Disc Format. Audio CD, MP3 CD and Data CD or DVD. I have chosen the 1st and 3rd options but every time I push burn it gives me the message are you sure you want to create a Data DVD. I don't think I want to create a Data DVD but I have no idea how to not create one and create a regular viewing DVD. I have also tried to load this file onto the IMovie and burn a DVD but then the file will not fit onto the DVD! I'm at a loss. Please help.

You can't create DVD movies directly from QuickTime, I would suggest you use iDVD for create movies that can be played in a home DVD player directly.

I have problems with my films that become slightly jerky after I have imported
and edited them in iMovie and then burned them onto a DVD using iDVD.
I can see the weak jerkiness when panning in both laterally
    and vertically.
I shoot with a camcorder Canon Vixia HF10. The camera has been set to deliver HD quality (1920x1080). But I have accidentally filmed with a frame rate of 60 (?).
When I import the films in iMovie I have been asked if I want to change to frame rate 30 (instead of 25). I have chosen 30.
Could it be the setting of a frame rate 60 in my camcorder that causes jerkiness when panning or what else?

  • Burning two separate disks onto one dvd

I have a dvd with 1.7 gigs on it and another with 2.2 gigs. Is it possible to burn both disks onto one dvd or do I have to import them back into idvd and make a new dvd out of that?

    Hi Larry
You'll lose some quality since its already been compressed but yes there is software that allows you to import back into iMovie via QT in addition to the great link Len provided above:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.products.htm
(end product sometimes looks like low quality VHS though)
May want to try the free demo first.

  • How do I burn several Video_TS folders onto one DVD?

A cousin had some very old (as early as 1929!) film converted and burned to three DVDs, of them short (the total run time is under an hour). What's the best way to combine them into one DVD so I can duplicate it and send to other family members? I'm copying the VIDEO_TS files but am leery of re-naming them for fear of confusing Toast 7.
Can iDVD6 help do this more simply?

    How fabulous!
The old family movies I converted to DVDs were only from 1958!
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS folders back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip (you just drop the TS folder into the Streamclip window):
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
(Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal. )
Once in iMovie you can edit the 'stray bits' out, have each old movie as a chapter etc.
Then send it to iDVD for burning, or use Toast.

  • How can I get 20 different movies onto one dvd and have them play consecutively?

I am having a hard time converting all of the videos I've taken of my kids from my iphone onto a dvd. I would like the videos to play consecutively as if we were watching home movies from our regular video recorder. How can I convert my videos to one dvd?

If the total playing time for all of the videos is less than 120 minutes create a slideshow in iDVD and add the movies to it in the order you want them to play.  Select any slide duration time except manual.  Do not add any music to the slideshow as it will override the audio in the video files and do not add any transition as it won't be a smooth transition.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Combine Several Movies on One DVD with iDVD?

I have a couple of slide shows I made in iMovie, and I have a DVD that has a video_ts file on it. Can I put the two slide shows and the video_ts movie all on one DVD as long as there is room? I so, I would need 3 menu choices. Can I do this with iDVD?

Here's how to do it with Toast 8. Insert the DVD that has the existing video (or place the VIDEO-TS folder on the desktop if it's on the hard drive rather than on a disc). Choose DVD video as the format in the Toast Video window. Choose DVD with the top button of the Toast Media Browser. Double click on what appears in the browser. You'll see a thumbnail image of each title on the source DVD (which may be only one title in your case. Select the title you want and drag it to the video window. Toast then extracts the MPEG video file from the DVD or VIDEO_TS folder and writes it to the Roxio Converted Items folder.
Now add your other videos. You probably can use the Media Browser for this as well by choosing Movies with the top button.
Arrange the titles the way you want in the Video window. Click on the thumbnail to scroll to the image you want to appear in the Toast menu. Edit the text the way you want it to appear and select the menu style and how you want the DVD to play (do you want it to go to the menu first or auto play the first title; do you want the titles to automatically play one after the other or go back to the menu).
I suggest choosing Save as Disc Image from the File menu when you think you have it the way you want. When the disc image is finished, mount it and preview it using DVD Player. If all is good, burn the disc image file using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. If it isn't what you want, continue to refine it in the Video window and choose Save as Disc Image again.
By the way, Toast automatically empties the Converted Items folder when quitting unless you change that in Toast Preferences. You don't want that folder emptied until you have your final DVD.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Burning two short projects onto one DVD disc

I have two short but related slideshows that I want to put on the same DVD disc. Can I do this? Or is there an alternative?

If you created them in iMovie , just drag the slideshows(iMovie) folder one at a time into iDVD.
I believe the same for iPhoto slideshows.

  • Followed video about burning my completed movie to a DVD and iDVD was not listed in the sharing drop down. What gives?

Why wasn't iDVD listed in sharing drop down when trying to burn DVD?

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Putting multiple iMovie projects onto one DVD

I was wondering if there was a way to put multiple iMovie projects onto one DVD using iDVD?

actually none of those options worked probably since the movies were in IMOVIE2
Ah... You didn't say it was an iMovie 2 project. iMovie project is different from iMovie HD.
I want to store the image file from the dvd's off site as I don't have the space to archive the projects - it seems I can't do that as it copies over to the server but shows up as a 4kb file - any suggestions how I can do this?
I might be wrong (since I don't have iMovie 2), I assume iMovie 2 has the similar QT "reference" movie as the iMovie HD. This "reference" movie is not a "self-contained" (a QT term) movie, i.e. it only has instructions of the makeup of the "real" movies. You cannot use it to archive. If you want to offload your movie from your computer, you should copy the entire iMovie 2 project folder to an external archive.

  • Burning Multiple Movies to one DVD in Premiere Elements 7.0

I am compiling a series of movies which I shot of the first year of the lives of my grandchildren. Each is a separate movie, about 10 minutes long. I would like to burn all of them onto one DVD - how can I do that? The burning option seems to be available only for the movie open when I click on Share.
    Many thanks.
    Walter

    Walter,
As Paul_LS states, the movies need to be combined in PE (or another editing program) due to the DVD-specs. They allow only one movie (in your case the combined Projects) per DVD disc. There are a few programs that can "hack" the DVD structure, but they are a lot of work, and usually do not yield the results that the user is seeking. This is not a limitation of PE.
You can also place your DVD Markers to the start of each of these movies, to all navigation in the DVD to each, should you wish.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Burning multiple movies to one DVD

I want to burn 8 short movies to one DVD. Do I have to use a DVD RW or is there a way to burn all 8 to a DVD-R?

You probably only have a single-layer drive so you
will be limited to a maximum playing time of about
120 minutes in Best Quality mode. We recommend
Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R for single-layer discs.
BTW, iDVD compresses everything to mpg-2 so the
playing time of your content in minutes is the
important factor - the size of your original files in
    MB doesn't come into play.

thanks for the tip on type of DVD, but my immediate problem is that when I burn to a DVD, I can only do one movie. I am looking for a way to select all of them vs 1 at a time. I tried the advanced & edit DVD contents but I still have the problem that the program will only burn one movie at a time & then because it is DVD-R, I can't add another. I need to be able to put all 8 on at once (or at least one after another). Is there a way to "combine" them for burning?

  • HT1338 how do I burn an iMovie onto a DVD without iDVD?

I created a movie in iMovie and now I can't seem to figure out how to burn it onto a DVD.  Someone suggested I download xilisoft dvd creator but it's 40 bucks so I was looking for a cheaper (but reliable) alternative.  Thanks!

This is a good one too. hope it could help you.

Tutorial: Burning QuickTime Movies to a DVD using the Burn utility.
Here is a quick 3 step tutorial on how to burn a QuickTime movie into a self-playing DVD.
Step 1: Click the Video tab and name your DVD.
Launch the Burn utility, and in the main window:
    Select the Video tab.
    Name your DVD
Choose "DVD" from the pop-up menu.
Step 2: Drag your QuickTime movies into the file list.
Drag some video files right into the Burn file list. Most video files are supported, however some protected QuickTime files may not work. If they are not in the correct format for DVD, Burn will ask to convert them to the right format. Most of your movies will require conversion.
Once you click "Yes" you'll be prompted to tell Burn where you want to save the converted movies. In that save dialog box, in you live in North America, make sure the NTSC format is selected (Read about PAL format).
Note: This conversion process can take some time depending on the size of your movie, and the speed of your Mac.
Step 3: Click the Burn button and insert a blank DVD.
Your computer will display a dialog indicating the DVD is burning. When it's done, eject the disc and try it out in your TV's DVD player.
    Enjoy.

  • How do I burn my home movies to a DVD?

I have a MacBook Pro which I purchased in June of 2012. I would like to put my home moives onto a DVD to mail to my relatives. (I don't want ot put them on You Tube.) How can I burn my home movies onto a DVD? I guess you could do this with iDVD in iMovie 11, but the MacBook Pro that I have does not have this feature under Share. What do I do?

Personally, I use iMovie to edit my home movies, then I use Burn to burn it to a disk. Burn will automatically set the necessary files and everything for you too! Just drag and drop, and click burn.
