Burning a bootable XP DVD on a Mac?

Okay, so I managed to install an XP version with cs1 on my bootcamp partition, and then slipstream cs2 into xp in the windows partition. Then I brought it back into the Mac partition. So now I have the files ready to burn as well as the iso file from disk utility.
My question is: is there a way to create a bootable xp dvd including the new sp2 xp files?
Thanks!

Great, thanks again.
Would you also know how I can test the disk to make sure it's actually bootable before actually trying to boot from it?
I am not aware of a procedure to do this.
I have used a -RW disc for burning, so in case anything's wrong, I don't lose a disc.
It might be possible to use VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ to test the burned disc.
If it works with VirtualBox it should should work with BootCamp as well.
But I haven't tried it, since my slipstreamed XP is rather old.

  • Burning a Bootable TTD DVD Problem

Upon receiving a Fail on a Volume Structure test with the version of TTD that came with my Applecare plan, I was directed to download the latest version and burn a DVD to boot from as TTD can't make repairs from a copy that is on the same disk as that needing the repair.
After doing so (I tried burning a DVD twice), I cannot get the DVD to work properly when booting whether I hold down the Option key or "C" key. The drive makes a few sounds in the beginning when the DVD is being read, but then stops and the screen doesn't progress into the desktop. It just stops until I do a hard reboot.
Is there something I'm doing wrong, either in burning the DVD or upon trying to boot from it? I burned the "TTD.dmg" file to the DVD.

Here are the steps I followed, cut from the Apple web site:
Creating a Bootable TechTool Deluxe DVD
To create your own bootable TechTool Deluxe DVD from this download, please have a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW handy.
    1. Click the download link above to begin the download. Once your download begins, please allow several minutes for the software to fully download. If you cancel or interrupt the download before it finishes, the resulting software may be incomplete and will not be available for you to burn it to a DVD.
    2. Once the download has completed, a disk image with the name "TTD.dmg" should appear on your desktop.
    3. Open Disk Utility (find it in the Utilities folder inside of your Applications folder).
    4. Select your TTD.dmg disk image in Disk Utility and then click the "Burn" icon in the upper-left corner. Insert a blank DVD into your computer's disc drive and then click Burn.
    5. Once the burning process has finished, your Mac should eject the DVD from its drive.

  • How do you use disk utility to burn a bootable .iso dvd?

Anybody have a clue on how you use disk utility to burn a .iso bootable dvd disk?
I'm trying to install windows 7 rc into virtual box in OS X 10.5.7 and cannot figure out how to do this. I've already installed the windows 7 beta in virtual box and was able to make a bootable dvd disk with the .iso file on it but have no clue how I did this.
I've been searching the web but most tips are for older version of OS X.
    Thanks to anybody who answers.

It's so easy, You can just burn an .iso file using DVD Creator Std instead of Disk Utility, only 3 steps to finish bur ning your .iso files:

  • Burning a bootable Lion dvd, how to?

Hi I want to burn a copy of Lion to DVD to have a bootable copy at hand.
I found instructions here how to do this: http://techland.time.com/2011/06/17/how-to-burn-an-os-x-lion-boot-disc/
    However I follow the steps:
    > 2. Open the "Contents" folder, then look for a "SharedSupport" folder and open that.
But there is no folder called "SharedSupport".  I searched the whole disk image and nowhere is a file called 'SharedSupport'.
    I have a version 1.0.4 (197) of the installer.
So anybody who can help me out here?  How do I burn it to DVD so it is bootable?

    OK Tonefox
This is what I get, I do "Show Package Contents"
    and see this:
Very different from yours.  what is up?

  • II can't burn any CD or DVD in my Mac Mini

Hello, I've had my mac mini (super drive) for a week when I tried to burn a data cd I got the error message "Sense Key=Medium error
    Sense code=0x0C
    Write Error".
After that:"The Drive Reported an Error
    Sense Key=illegal Request
    Sense Code =0X30,0X05
    Cannot write medium,incopatible format
After that i tried to burn a cd in Finder but i had this message:
Disk Unit is not supported.error code"0X80020025
After rebooting i write the cd,but at the second copy i have the same problem
Any ideas of what the problem could be? I suspect the drive has gone bad but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it. I have tried different types of recordable cd's with the same result. Any help would be appreciated. Desperate!!!
MAC MINI SUPERDRIVE Mac OS X (10.4)

I would take it in to a local mac reseller to test it out with different media. There are different types of blank media to write on with different speeds and specs. You could try buying different brands, but probably cheaper to bring it in. If it's a hardware problem, then they can replace it right there. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the recording & movie industry does not respect the rights of the people who make them money, and thus you can only use the paid-for content in ways they see fit. Even if I lived in a bunker where no one else could possibly see the movie I paid for, therefor I'm not 'sharing it illegally', I would still not be allowed in a blue moon to copy that movie to DVD for TV viewing. Someone will tell you to get an AppleTV. How about Apple give us one for free? Until this changes, people wanting to use their content in multiple locations will continue to download music & movies via torrents, legally or illegally.

  • DVD burned on windows appears blank on my Mac

Hi. I had a buddy make a DVD of a bunch of MP3s for me. He burned them to a DVD+R on Windows and said he checked it on a couple windows sysstems and seen that the files were on there. It shows up as an Untitled Blank CDR on both my Macs and appears empty. When I eject the disk it ejects but the disk image remains mounted on the desktop until I trash it. Any ideas of how I could workaround this. I need to get to these files to DJ a party Friday night... Didn't forsee this little obstacle. Thanks for your time in a reply! I really appreciate any help.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm stuck with some DVD's that were burnt with an HFS+ file system on an iMac, but when they are inserted into my macbook pro, they show up as blank. When I take them back to the iMac (or another iMac), they show up fine. Now I don't have access to the iMac's, but I can get my dvd's to show up with their data on them; OS X still says they are blank. This is extra-ordinarily frustrating.

  • Can I burn photos onto a DVD/CD for non-Mac users?

Can I burn photos onto a DVD/CD for non-Mac users?

You can burn a plain CD/DVD by just dragging the photos there; but, that may or may not be playable by everyone. To be sure that the result would be playable in any computer or CD/DVD player, it would be better to use either one of the apps already on your system - such as iPhoto. I don't use that myself - I use other third party software - but take a look at iPhoto help. And, you could make it more interesting by creating a slideshow - also in iPhoto, or iMovie. To give it the final cool touch, bring it into iDVD to give it a polished look if you'd like. You can burn it then from any of the above.
If you happen to have Toast (an excellent burning app), you could use that as well (that is my preferred way to work). In Toast, you have multiple choices: burn a data CD/DVD for Mac only, for Mac & PC, etc, burn a picture CD, video DVD, etc, etc.

  • Problems burning a dvd backup in Mac OS X tiger

hi I have some problems to burn a dvd in my mac, when its burning the dvd for some reason the system reboots I'm trying burning with the finder and the computer its a G5 have an OS X tiger 10.4.11 running in an Intel processor box, with two user accounts, the admin and an other one who's have no admin permission I m login into this account when I tried to burn the dvd I dont know if the permission have something about because with the admin account it works great
so thats my problem if you have an Idea please help me guys
    thanks for your time

it's a DVD+R media disc. In Finder I can see the
files on the disc, there's a folder Audio_TS and
VIdeo_TS. There's .VOB, .IFO, .BUP files in the
Video_TS folder and there are no files in the
    Audio_TS folder.
The folders and files sound correct (the Audio_TS folder should be empty).
Try launching Apple's DVD Player application in the Application Folder. It should give you the option to open a DVD (I think that's what the new version of Player says - the old version used to say to open the VIDEO_TS Folder)

  • Burned DVD plays on Macs, doesn't play on windows????

Hi, got a quick question and I think there is an easy answer but I am missing it.
I burned my project to DVD and it works perfectly on all of the Macs in the company. The problem is it doesn't play on any of the Windows machines or in standard DVD players.
What gives? Anyone know what is causing this?
    Thanks in advance.
    DG

It's almost always the choice of media.
Suggest you look at the label and then google for comments about that supplier.
You can also search here for terms that are similar to your problem. Unfortunately, hardly anyone ever comes back, closes their discussions, and tells us if they solve their problems so there may not be any helpful threads.
Hope you get better advice soon. give the wonks a day or tow, sometimes DVDSP is a low traffic area.

  • Burned dvd plays on Mac but not on player

my burned dvd plays on my Mac with no problems but on my dvd player, it just stops after 3 few seconds. any ideas what happened there?
    i used iDvd 4

    Welcome to the Forum.
The most likely reason for consumer DVD players to skip or stop on DVDs that play well in computer DVD drives, are excessive burn errors that the consumer players 'choke on'. All burned media (CD and DVD) has burn errors. Burning at lower speeds tends to reduce the error level, hence the recommendation to burn low-speed media for maximum player compatability. Computer DVD drives have a high level of error correction (after all - you wouldn't want to loose any data on a data DVD) and can handle the errors. Consumer DVD players don't - after all they are designed to playback pressed DVDs with low error rates.
Some consumer DVD players are more sensitive to these errors than others.
Sometimes using a different brand of media will help.
