Burning a playlist to cd

I've got (in my opinion!!!) a wicked playlist I want to burn to cd. I've inserted a blank Sony cd-r disk (similar to those that my mates have used before) then clicked on the playlist as instructed. The playlist is only 60.9 MB long and the cd is 700 MB. I've done what I think is right but the burn icon doesn't appear at the bottom right hand side of the window! Why the **** not?!!!! Grrrrrr!!! Am I just thick?!!!

Someone else posted the same problem, and I just replied to them because I'm having the same problem too, and still need an answer. Here's the reply I sent to the other person:
Did you ever get an answer on this? I'm having the same problem. The information about a CD I've burned shows up correctly in iTunes, but on the Mac desktop, the CD title is the title of a playlist I made a long time ago. More incredibly, when I double-click on the CD icon, the Finder shows that the contents of this CD is the (one) song I burned with the old playlist; not the song that really is on this CD. Any help would be appreciated.

Installed latest itunes update and computer tried to burn a playlist to CD and realized computer no longer recognizes my CD/DVD drive. After doing some data mining, found out from community this is an long standing APPLE problem- which doesn't get much tech support in terms of fixes. I have an HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, Windows 7 OS . After reading an earlier complaint from 2009 in the support community, I ran diagnostics from ITunes which gave the following result. Can someone please help? (I'm not enough of a techie to know what I'm doing or how to locate /reinstall CD drivers. I am searching for driver disc but cannot locate.)

Doublechecking ... did you have CD/DVD drive tests checked when you ran those diagnostics? (I'm not seeing the CD/DVD test results down the bottom of the results where I'd expect to see them.)

After installing the latest version of Itunes, I am having trouble burning a playlist to CD. CD burner stops and cancels burn giving me an unknown error.

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:

I tunes: when trying to burn a playlist I keep getting the message: the attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to. I am using version 12

I tunes: I am using version 12 of I tunes. Ever since downloading it I get the message when trying to burn a playlist it says, The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
I uninstalled V-12 and then reinstalled it. This enabled me to burn a disc again but after a couple of tries I received the same error message again. Has Apple put out a fix to this problem that anyone is aware of?

iTunes will stop burning a disc if you purchased one or more of the songs in a playlist from the iTunes Store and the songs aren't authorized to play on your computer. This message should appear: "Some of the files can not be burned to an audio CD. Do you still want to burn the remainder of this playlist? For more information on why some files can not be burned, click below."
To find out which songs aren't authorized, play each song in the playlist. Songs that play are authorized. Songs that don't play aren't authorized. You'll be asked to authorize any unauthorized songs.Make sure your playlist will fit on a single CD
If there are too many songs in a playlist to fit on a single CD, iTunes should ask if you want to burn multiple discs or cancel the burn. This message should appear: "The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD. Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them? This will require more than one blank CD to complete."
If you click the Audio CDs button, the burn will continue and you'll be asked to insert blank CDs until the playlist is completely burned. If you click cancel, the burn will be canceled.
To make the playlist shorter so that it will fit on a single CD, select a song to remove from the playlist and choose Edit > Clear. Repeat this step until the duration of the playlist is between 60 and 80 minutes. The duration appears at the top of the playlist window. Most CD-R discs can hold 60 to 80 minutes of music.
Check how many times you've burned the playlist

I am unable to burn a playlist in iTunes 10

I try to burn a playlist from iTunes10 I keep getting a media read error and the disk appears to be half burned. I can create a burn folder on my desktop and burn the cd with no problems. This problem started two updates ago. I have tried using an external cd burner as well as the cd burner in my iMac, but get the same message. It only happens when trying to burn a cd in iTunes. Unfortunatly my car stereo will not play an mp3 disk, so I need to create the audio cd in iTunes

When burning a playlist to CD, the choice of space between the tracks doesn't appear to be working

I've noticed that when I try to burn a playlist to CD, I could set how many seconds between tracks (0 to 5). That drop down menu is still there but it doesn't seem to be functional now. It always defaults to 0 seconds, no matter what number in the drop down list I choose. I'm using iTunes 11.0.1 with Mountain Lion. I tend to burn at 1x speed.

This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes.

iTunes 10.6.3 keeps generating incomplete downloads AND it rearranges the order of the playlist when I burn a playlist to an mp3 cd.
I purchased an album on iTues from my MAC book Pro & the song downloads were incomplete. The song length shows correctly in the column, but they cut off between 1/4 & 1/2 way through the songs. Now, I dwonloaded it on my iPhone 4 through my itunes account after the purchase & the songs play fine. This happened with the very next song I purchased, as well.
I got around this issue, then created mp3 versions of all the songs, put them in their own playlist, then "Burned an mp3 disc." When it completed, the songs were in a different order.
Are there any fixes for either of these problems/bugs?

Upgrading to iTunes 7.6 and now can't burn any playlists

I've finally upgraded to iTunes 7.6 and it now won't let me burn any playlists. When I try, it asks me to insert a blank disc, which I do, it then says checking media and then nothing. I've rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled and still the same issue. Before I upgraded I had no problem burning a cd, plus after upgrading, I've tried to burn other things off of my computer and that all still works. Any suggestions?

Having the same frustrating problem and have spent hours tryinhg to figure out. E-mail to iTunes support was pretty much useless and they finally advised me to contact an Apple Service Technician. Additional information:
-also ran "Repair" with new download of iTunes
-am using the same spindle of CDs that worked perfectly a month ago. Tried another brand also to be safe. None worked.
-ran CD/DVD diagnostics within iTunes with Apple Care - no issues apparent
-also tried write-speed 20X on advice of Apple Care (don't know why they thought 20X would be the magic number after the other 3 I tried didn't work)
-tried running itunes in another user account on the computer - same problem, same error code
-Apple suggested it was a copyright issue. I can't even burn music that I created/recorded myself, so that doesn't make sense.
-They thought maybe Quicktime wasn't installed properly, so we checked a film in Windows Media - it played, meaning Quicktime was fine apparently.
Solution:
Unclicked CD text option & Sound Check, ran burn from the File drop down menu (max speed) on a Philips CD-R and it worked! Had been right clicking the playlist name and selecting Burn option from there. That being said, it did not work on 2 other brands prior, with same settings. Not sure why. Just happy it's working again. Is it a brand issue?

How do I get the computer to burn a playlist. My first one worked, but nothing works since then. I get an error.

In iTunes, I burned a playlist to CD. It worked fine. Then I tried another one, and since then the computer initializes for a long time, then goes directly to finishing without writing to the CD. I think I have this posted in the wrong area, but don't know how to change it. I figured out how to download songs to my playlist in Itunes 12.1. It seems that it does not work unless I delete the songs from my library first so they are only available on icloud. Then I move the songs to the playlist. After I am done adding the songs to the playlist, I press the cloud next to the playlist and the songs are downloaded to my iphone. If I press sync first, I end up with the old playlist back on my computer minus the deletions and new songs.
I am now having problems getting my new purchases to transfer to my library. If anyone knows how to get Itunes 12.1 to do this automatically, please let me know.

I am receiving the message "disc burner or software not found" when trying to burn a playlist to a blank disc.

I ran the diagnostics test and the program was unable to detect a prerecorded cd. This is a fairly new problem and I am not sure what to do.

Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.

How do I get the song titles to appear when I burn a playlist from iTunes?

I burned a playlist from iTunes, and the song titles on the burned CD changed to Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. How can I get the song titles to appear as they do in iTunes? Is this really too much to ask from the world's leading music player software?

If you are burning an audio CD, you cannot as audio CDs do not have track names. Nothing to do with Apple.

There should be a better way , while burning a playlist!

I have the latest version of iTunes, and, yesterday, I downloaded an album, but, I ended up wasting three CDs before I got the answer from another music player. iTunes gave me no clue.
The problem: a 13-track playlist took about 20 sec. to burn. I, even, remade the playlist. I was getting the list of songs when I put the CD in the CD player drive, and they played, but my external CD player indicated that I had a single song, and nothing played. Finally, I played the CD with Winamp, which confirmed that I had a single DATA file. I remember trying to burn some data a while back, so I changed my settings for burning, and they were set for Data. There was no further problem after changing to CD (burning DATA files, ironically, did not work).
I can understand the problem, but I am still wondering why iTunes tries to confuse me every time I try to make changes in my preferences, telling me that I "don't have enough permissions", although I am the administrator.
Then, changes to the format are not obvious, and I get no notice that I am burning music files as data. There are enough lame questioning about certain actions, but not for something so important. Why I am not asked:"are you sure that you want to burn the album as Data".
I think that this is a bug, if I ever seen one, and the permissions thing makes it worse.
Finally, why is not possible to leave notices like I did here. Typically, support is either here, or miserable if requested from Apple. There should be a way.

That's clearly a fault. Whether it's an iTunes problem or a Windows problem I can't say at this time. If you search the Using iTunes for Windows forum for "permissions", you should find threads that can help you sort out this problem.
Then, changes to the format are not obvious, and I get no notice that I am burning music files as data.
If you click on a playlist and look at the lower-right of the iTunes window, it says right there what format it will use to burn the playlist.
