Burning a QT .mov file to CD for Windows use.

I have tried burning a QT .mov file to CD for Windows use with Finder and with Toast T 6, Mac & PC option. I burned the QT .mov file and Windows QT Installer on to the CD with both above apps.. However, when I try to read the CD on a Windows PC, it doesn't see the QT .mov file. It did see the Windows QT Installer and you could use it to install QT for Windows on a Windows PC. What is up with the QT .mov file not showing up on the Windows PC?
Thanks!!!

OS 10.4.6 Disk Utility does give you the option for multisession burning. I used Toast T 6 and it's also suppose to support multisession burns. However, since you mentioned it, the file that you could see (QT Windows Installer) on the Windows PC was the second file I burned. The first file was the QT .mov which you couldn't see on the Windows PC. Maybe Toast T 6 has the same limitations as ver. 5? The only thing I can do is try to reburn the CD all in one session, i.e., with the QT Windows Installer and QT .mov file on the same session and see if that works. What do you think?

  • Burning Keynote .PPT exported file to CD for Windows PPT user.

I created a Keynote presentation using KN 2.0.2 and exported it as a .ppt file. Worked great. I want to burn the .ppt file to a CD to give to a Windows PPT user to view. I burned the KN .ppt file to a CDRW disk using Finder. However, the Windows user couldn't view the KN .ppt exported file, error message read, "PPT does not have a recognizable file system". Should I have used a CD-R disk instead of a CDRW disk? Can you burn a KN .ppt exported file straigth to a CD using just Finder or do I need to use Toast, etc.?

    LK,
maybe it's a problem with the name of the .mov. Check if it contains spaces. Spaces in file names often cause problems.
Also, try creating an ISO9660 CD. Choose the advanced tab in Toast 6 where you'll find the option. Toast should automatically enable Joliet extension which is used on Windows for long file names.
Then, instead of burning choose "File/Save As Disc Image…" and mount the disc image (Utilities/Mount Disc Image…). You can then check the content. The content should be shown as it will be seen on Windows.
If the Windows folks happen to have a CD burning program available, you could also send the ISO9660 disc image (to avoid spending too much CD-Rs for your tries (Or use a CD-RW instead).

You don't need to save them any differently. Windows can read .mov, m4v and countless other formats.

  • Can't open pdf files in Safari for Windows

Hi, I haven't been able to open pdf files in Safari - each time I click on a pdf link, a new tab opend and then a pop-up window says "can't open Adobe" (or something like that), and then Safari crashes. I've read that the solution is to install Adobe Reader 8, but I can't because I already have Adobe Acrobat which doesn't seem to work with safari. Does anyone know a way to view pdf files in Safari for windows?

Try to uninstall and after that install Acrobat Reader 8 again.

  • Where can I download adobe File Packager tool for Windows?

    Dear all,
I need to understand the detail format of f4f files, but the only useful information I can find is the following:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/httpdynamicstreaming/pdfs/httpdynamicstreaming_wp_ue.pdf
Is there more detail specification for f4f ?
Where can I download adobe File Packager tool for Windows?
It seems to me the following specification is not correct for f4f, at least the parts talking about "mdat" box

    Thanks,
    Xuedong

As per your question – follow this link http://www.adobe.com/products/adobe-media-server-family.html, download and install AMS Starter, then inside \tools\f4fpackager you’d find the F4F packager command-line application.

  • What steps do I take to edit raw files and save for web use, such as Instagram, Facebook, Websites, and emailing?

What Steps do I take to edit raw files and save for web use, such as Instagram, Facebook, Websites, and emailing?

When you open a raw file it will open in Adobe camera raw. That is where you can do most of the editing. Then it will be placed inside Photoshop where you can do more if needed.
Now you can use the save for web dialog to export your image as a png or jpg to use on those sites.

  • How do i run a new software program (Investment Account Manager for Windows) using Windows emulation software?

How can I run a new software program (Investment Account Manager for Windows) using Windows emulation software?

You will need a licensed copy of Windows 7, and I recommend VMFusion. You can run the program in Unity mode just as if it were a Mac application. Or, you can install Windows in Bootcamp and run the Mac in Windows when you boot and run it that way. Depends on the resources. I prefer the VM method because it is cleaner and gives you more options as far as backups, etc.

  • Burning large QT .mov file to DL-DVD for backup

    Hello
To be clear. I am not interested in creating a DL-DVD for playback on a set top DVD player connected to a television.
Rather, I haver a 6+GB .mov file that I would prefer to keep intact and burn to a DL-DVD. I need to do this mainly for backup purposes and would like to try & avoid manually cutting up the file into multiple smaller .mov files in FCS. The file has already been compressed using the H.264 codec and I would like to avoid any further compression.
So, my question is, can I burn this file to a data DL-DVD without having to worry about the "break point" on the DL-DVD corrupting my QT .mov file?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tim

Unless I'm missing something Video Monkey is an encoder. I've already encoded the video so that is not an issue.
I'm trying to find out whether or not I can burn my 6+gig .mov file to a data DL-DVD without the "break point" corrupting the file for the purpose of backing it up should the copy on my HDD get corrupted.
    Thanks for the reply though.

  • Problems viewing exported .mov file from Mac for viewing on PC

I am working with a reporter who has a PC at home while I am editing a video for her using FCE 4.1 on a MacBook Pro, using HD footage from a Canon Vixia HF20 AVCHD camera. I burned a draft of the video we are working on for her to look at on her home PC, exporting the FCE project as a straight .mov file. But she could not view it on her PC even though she has viewed .mov files on her computer in the past (but this is the first time she has tried to look at .mov file exported from FCE on a Mac). What might the issue here be? Do I need to export the file in a different way? Might she have an older version of Windows Media Player or be unable to view certain versions of .mov files on her computer? Should I hand it off to her instead as an .mp4 file? Any help much appreciated.
    Douglas

You'll need to copy the Apple HDV Codec to your MacBook. Since it won't be Intel native (unless you get FCP 5.1) you'll have to force QuickTime Player to run in Rosetta; it should be a setting in the Get Info window for QT Player. You should then be able to view the video (though I haven't tested this myself).
    Hope this helps.

  • 2 gigs of .mov files too big for dvd?

I have 3 .mov files that I want to burn to a dvd. Each individual file is approx 700 meg or so. When I try and add the first file, it appears that it takes up 3.9g of 4g. Dragging the 2nd file in gives me the "Project Duration Error"
"Your project exceeds the maximum allowed content duration. You will not be able to burn your DVD while your Encoder Setting is Best Performance. This can be changed in your iDVD Preferences."
Changing that pref allows me to get the 2nd file on the dvd, but I can't get the 3rd file on the dvd without idvd complaining. Is there really that much overhead to make a dvd? I would think that with < 2g of media there should be no problem burning a dvd..
BTW-I have made sure that I checked that project->project info and set the size to a single layer dvd....
seems really difficult for something SUPPOSED to be easy
thanks in advance for any help....

ahhh, that is the problem then. I have 3 movies, each one is approximately an hour, so that must be why...
On another note, does anyone know if another application will allow me to write the 3hrs of video on 1 dvd? We have DVD studio pro, I figured iDVD would be quicker/simpler to get up and running with, so that is why I tried using that first...
    thanks again

  • Movie file too large for iDVD

I have a 13GB .mov file created using FCE Exported w/QT Conversion (prior it was a 30GB file) but it's still too large to place on DVD using iDVD. Is there a way to (1) Shrink my file size to be compatible with iDVD or (2) re-set iDVD to accept larger file sizes (I don't use dual layer discs)? If the answer to both of those is no, is there a specific DVD conversion software that is more versatile than iDVD? Thanks

The length in time is what's important for burning to DVD, not the input file size. With iDVD you can burn a video up to 2 hours in length on a single-layer DVD-r (but that capacity includes your DVD menus, titles, etc.)
Assuming your source is DV video, your original 30GB file is about 2 hrs 20 mins long. You will either need to shorten your video to less than 2 hours, or cut your video into two segments and burn it to 2 DVD-R's (one segment on each DVD-R).
Compressing the way you did by exporting to QT Conversion is only going to make your video look worse and doesn't solve the length issue - you still have a 2 hr 20 min video. After you fix the length of the movie, you should export to QT Movie, and UNcheck the option for "Make movie self-contained".
