  • Can't Burn a .img file

iDVD file plays fine on Mac. File is a video transferred from VHS to iMovie, then made into iDVD file, with added scrolling block comments and one picture. The burn process completes the "Processing" step, but gives a message and hangs up without burning the .img file. The message is: "The selected folder contains no pictures. To see a slide show screen saver, add pictures to your picture folder, or choose a new folder that contains pictures in desktop and Screen Saver preferences".

Can someone running Windows on a PC burn a DVD from the .img I create in DVDSP?

Yuo can use OSX Disk Utility (in your Applications > Utilities folder) to convert the img image to ISO image. PCs will burn ISO images fine.

  • Error message when burning .img file

I got this message when trying to burn a .img file: "Unable to burn "disk 4" - the device failed to respond properly . unable to recover or re-try.

    Hi there
It would appear you are trying to furnish an image and you are trying that by replying via email with the image either embedded or as an attachment.
Unfortunately those don't survive the trip into the forum post. If you have an image to show, please visit the forum web page where you started this thread and use the camera icon to insert the image.

  • Can I view a .img file?

I've made a .img file to burn DVDs with. I thought I read somewhere that I could view the file (on my computer, similiar to viewing a DVD). Am I making that up? Or is there a way to view a finished iDVD project more accurately than the "Preview" mode? I'd appreciate any help with this.

    This should help you:
Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • How do I burn a disc image (img file) to dvd?

I created a disc image from iDVD, but my disc drive on my home computer is broken. With a flash drive, I copied the img file onto my work computer & burned the file to disc. However, while the file copied, the disc doesn't play as normal dvd. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Though the replies above were very helpful and most likely would have worked, my work computer doesn't allow access to Disc Utilities. However, I bugged my IT guy and he showed me another way, using the Burn Application. I just needed to use the correct setting, as was mentioned above, I was burning data & not DVD. I'm sorry I don't have it in front of me, but I think I had to click the DVD tab & then select DVD/Video from the drop-down menu. One quirky element: I wasn't able to drag/drop the img file into Burn. I needed to drop the contents of the img file (the VIDEO_TS folder). Then it worked fine.

  • Disk Utlity can't burn .img files to disk

I'm newly digitizing old Beta tapes via a Canopus capture card. I've output my IMovie/iDVD projects to image files, but when I use Disk Utility to burn a DVD from the .img file I get nothing but verification errors and different checksums. I'm using Apple 4.7 Gb disks. The DVDs seem to play OK on my home Toshiba player, maybe with some stalling.
If I burn the iMovie/iDVD project directly to a DVD and then create a disk image file from that disk, Disk Utility burns successful copies from the .dmg file even on cheap-o Memorex disks.
I'm perplexed. This seems backwards. Could it be the difference between .img and .dmg files? Maybe I'm not using Disk Utility correctly in selecting/mounting/opening the image files...?I must say that Disk Utility Help is not very helpful.
I have the same problem on my new LaCie drive and the old SuperDrive.
    G4 1GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   IDVD 5.01, new LaCie drive

    More info:
After further investigation I 'discovered' Disk Utility:Images:Convert in the Disk Utility menubar. When I converted .img files to .dmg they seem to burn easily and accurately. I wonder why this isn't documented.
I'm wondering what the functional difference is between .dmg and .cdr image files.

What was the original source? Do you still have it? I am importing .mov files now that were converted using mpegstream clip from a .dv file to an apple motion jpeg to improve quality. I am importing fine. Appleman1958 seems to always have the answers, but he will need more info....what was the original source and what were the exact export specs.

  • What To Do With An .img File?

My Cisco rep provided a download of a .img file for the 5.x version of the Cisco VPN client, but I can't do anything with it. My CD/DVD burning app won't handle a .img file and, when I changed the extension to .iso as recommended in several non-Cisco forums, it didn't recognize that, either. So far I've been unable to reconnect with my rep, but I need this client. Any suggestions anyone?

The image that you were provided with: sa500-k9-2.1.18.img is incorrect. That is not VPN Client version 5.x nor 4.x. That's the client to connect to SA500 series router.
Please kindly request your rep to provide you with the correct Cisco VPN Client version 5.x image for Windows 7 machine. Please also advise your rep whether it's 32-bit or 64-bit.
The latest version of VPN Client is version 5.0.7:
For 32-bit: Filename is vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.07.0410-k9.exe (VPN Client Software for x86 32-bit version of XP/Vista/Windows 7 - Microsoft Installer).
For 64-bit: Filename is vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe (VPN Client Software for x86 64-bit version of Vista and Windows 7 - Microsoft Installer).
    Hope this helps.

  • Burning iDVD project files

I'm trying to free up hard disk space by bruning iDVD project files (.dvdproj) to a DVD-R.
When I tried doing this the files would not open. There was an error message that said - not writable.
I tried to first archive the files as Archived.dvdproj and I checked read/write permissions, but I still get the same error message.
Is there a way to burn these files to DVD-R and have them available to open in the iDVD edit window the same as they were on my hard drive.
    Photoscene

I'll try to be more specific. This was an iPhoto slideshow that was exported to iDVD.
I was able to delete the 10 megapixel .jpeg files from the Finder, the images from iPhoto, the QuickTime file, the iDVD.img file, and the Audio.Sd2f file (Roxio).
The Roxio audio file was needed to combine three music tracks into one file so that iPhoto could export them to iDVD.
Deleting the project saved 3GB of hard disk space.
The only files left were the four .aiff files in iTunes.
After this the Archived.dvdpoj file still opened in the iDVD edit window and played all the way through. From there it was burned to a CD-R, saving 400 MB of space.
I double checked the CD-R by copying the Archived.dvdproj file on to the desktop a second time and it works as it should.

  • Visio 2013 trial, problems to install the .img file

As soon as I download the trial for visio 2013 it automotically downloads an .img file. How do I either get an .exe file or the .img file to run? I would like to install the programm, thats all.
    Its the 64 bit version

I also have no option to mount an .img file, so there are 2 problems:
    1) This process doesn't work because we can't mount it, and
    2) Clearly, some software that performs the mounting is missing from the System Requirements.
Please answer how to do #1, and fix #2 on the MSDN pages.
Hi @thrillride, for your issue relating to MSDN, are you referring to this?:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/aa948864.aspx
Perhaps part of the difficulty is that various products, are "packaged" in differing ways (some are offered as EXE, some as ISO, some as IMG).
Also, different versions/editions of Windows, offer different disc-image-handling options as built-in features.
So it's not straightforward to have a one-size-fits-all guide for this topic.
The information on the linked MSDN page is somewhat adequate for most situations, but, a certain familiarity with the topic is assumed, and maybe it's that assumption which is unreasonable.
Since MS don't develop/offer/sell disc image software, MS are cautious when and how advising customers to select and use such software. (except for the builtin-in features).
There is a very wide range of software available to perform the "burning" or "virtual drive/mount" function, and MS do list some suggestions on the above-linked page. There is no need to wrestle with "mounting", if you choose
to "burn" the disc image to a recordable CD or DVD.
Some other popular choices include MagicISO, VirtualCloneDrive, WinCDEmu.
Also note that the software product itself (in this case, Visio) has no requirement for any such software. It's the delivery-vehicle that has the requirement, and, I agree that a bit more useful information about the "packaging and delivery vehicle"
    is needed.
You can raise this with the MSDN Feedback forum, since it's not related to the Visio product itself, but how it is offered via the MSDN channel.
