Burning an iphoto slideshow to a DVD question???

I have created a 30 minute slideshow in iphoto with Ken Burns (550 pics), transitions, and music. What is the best way to burn this to a DVD? I like creating it in iphoto because it places random KB effects on each photo. Will it stay intact if I just share it to iDVD or is their a better method? Also, when I try to adjust the length of time a particular slide displays I am not able to change the number of seconds (the up/down arrow is not visible). Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Share -> Send to iDVD
Some folks find that their timings can go off a little. If so, then you can
a: Make the slideshow in iDVD, but you won't have the Ken Burns Effec
b: Make the slideshow in an app that has much more control such as iMovie or PhotoToMovie

  • Burning an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD

How can I burn an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD?  I have created a slideshow with music but cannot determine how to burn it to a DVD.  I've tried to use iDVD but cannot figure it out.  I need very basic instructions, please.
    Thank you!

Depends on information you do not supply - but burn a slide show to DVD export it to the desktop as a QuickTime movie and the using the finder burn it to dial - it can be played on any device that can play QuickTime
To play on a DVD player it must be authored which requires iDVD or other authoring software like Toast - neither involves iPhoto - there is a iDVD forum and Toast has a support forum

  • How do i burn an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD?

how do I burn an iphoto slideshow onto a DVD? and a blueraycompatable DVD?

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
    Other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate
As for Bluray you'll need an app (and a burner) that can create that format.

  • How do you burn an iPhoto slideshow onto dvd?

I am trying to burn an iPhoto slideshow onto DVD - any tips? Thanks!

If you want to create a video DVD that will play on a set top DVD player to your TV read the following:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Burn an iPhoto Slideshow to DVD

What is the best, easiest way to burn an iPhoto slideshow (with music, Ken Burns effect, transitions) to a DVD? Apple discontinued iDVD and I can no longer use the Share menu in iPhoto and select "Send to iDVD".

When exporting the slideshow out of iPhoto to your hard drive set the Size to medium or large.
The open iDVD, select a theme and drag the slideshow into the iDVD menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones that may be present.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.

If you have iDVD instralled on your iMac the above workflow will do the job.  If you don't have iDVD and your iMac didn't come with Lion or Mt. Lion preinstalled the disks that came with the iMac can be used to reinstall iDVD and its themes.
If you iMac did come with Lion or Mt. Lion preinstalled you'll need to purcahse a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

If you MacBook Pro came with Lion preinstalled then you will not have a copy of iDVD.  That's because iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple and is not longer being included in iLife.
You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com: iLive 11.
If you do have Lion this post will self destruct in 10, 9, 8... seconds and you can follow Terence's directionsl
    As for iDVD the following is a recommended workflow to follow;
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

  • Burn multiple iphoto albums to one dvd

    Hi,
I would like to burn multiple iphoto albums onto one dvd.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Brandon

What's the destination of this disk? Another Mac with iPhoto? Then use the Share -> Burn command
Anything else: Select the Albums in the iPhoto Window and export them to Folders on the desktop. Then burn those folders with the Finder.
One exception: Going to view the files on a DVD player? You'll need to create the disk in iDVD.

  • I'm trying to burn a Iphoto slideshow to DVD but the "burn" in the menu isn't active?

I'm trying to burn a slideshow to a DVD but it isn't hightlighted in the menu?  Any ideas.  Also, is there a way to put captions under a photo that show up in the slide show?
    Thanks,
    Michael Quinn

To burn a Slideshow you DVD for viewing on a domestic DVD player you need to use an app that with author the disk to the correct format.
Macs used come with iDVD for this purpose - accessed by going Share -> iDVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have this then you need to get such an app, then export the slideshow from iPhoto. This will make a movie of it, then add it to your DVD project.

  • Slideshow on a DVD questions

    Hi...
2 questions about the adding a slideshow to a DVD using iDVD 08. Are you only able to allow one type of transition for the slideshow? I really would like to have an option where it randomly switches between types of transitions. Seeing the same transition for hundreds of photos is boring to me. Also, I chose the page turn transition to test out the slideshow on a DVD and it seems that right before it turns the page the picture goes blurry. Has anyone else noticed this? Please tell me there is a fix for this... and also a way to do multiple transitions on a finished DVD slideshow.
    Thanks!!

+right before it turns the page the picture goes blurry+
I have the same issue, and it happens with several different transition types (I tried dissolve, page turn, and cube and they all had the problem...) To me it looks like a glitch in the rendering process as it happens right before every transition starts, and the last picture of each slideshow (which has no subsequent transition) has no blur. Sadly, I have this problem with iDVD 6.0.3 and I was hoping that upgrading to iLife 08 might bring a fix.
I did notice, that the problem is most evident on my HD tv with a Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD player. On my Macbook the problem is still unacceptably noticable, but not quite as bad. On a G3-powered slot loading iMac, the picture blur is nearly imperceptable. Finally on my old standard TV with a Samsung DVD-V1000 there is no hint of the blur problem.
It may be that changing settings on the DVD player can reduce or eliminate the blur, but for me that is not really an acceptable solution because I am creating a Wedding DVD for some clients and I have no idea what kind of hardware they will end up playing it back on.
