Burning and cover art

How do you add a cover art to a song that is gonna be burned to a CD? I have tried burning a playlist with cover art in each song but when the songs were burned the cover art were gone. Help on this would be very much appreciated.

  • Movies do not run and cover art is missing in iTunes Mac after sync with iPad

I down load purchased movies from Apple to my iPad.  The movies runs fine and cover art is visible.  Great.  However, after I sync with my Mac Mini, the cover art on my iPad is missing.  The cover art in the iTunes library on my Mac Mini is missing, and the movies won't run on the Mac Mini.  Whe I re-sync, I get a message that says the movie can't sync because it can't be found.

Is your album cover issue resolved?
If not, have you perhaps tried to disable iTunes Match on your iPhone (in Settings) and signed out of your Apple ID (on the phone)? This might work.
The issue seems to be that the iTunes Match server does not update all the tracks with the new album cover art, particularly if you added the covers some time after importing the CD's (remember then that there was no cover art on some of them!)
Another possible solution is to rename the iTunes database (.itl file) by appending say "old" (without the quotes) and recreate a new one with maybe 1 or 2 albums, wait for the server to match the tracks (you can check on your iPhone after disabling and then re-enabling iTunes Match on the phone), then delete the 1 or 2 albums so that the iTunes music library is empty and wait again; you can check the iPhone again.
Finally, quit iTunes, delete the latest database and rename the original database with its original name (by removing the "old" appendage).
Then let iTunes Match reload the server with all the information: this might take a few minutes (hours?) depending on the size of the library.
In the meantime you can remove all the music on the iPhone by disabling iTunes Match in the phone's settings.

  • Why are iOS 8 and cover art incompatible?

    Hi All,
First up let me apologise in advance about the quality of the photos i have attached but I think you will get the drift.
The examples immediately below are all taken from DVDs that I have converted to MPEG files and loaded into iTunes
I have installed iOS 8 on my iPad Air only. I discovered that it and cover art for movies and tv shows seem to be incompatible. Instead of the cover art there is a grey square with the title of the TV show in very small font in the middle.
This is what it looks like. Yes I know that is not grey. When opened there are another 3 grey squares.
The 3 squares represent 3 consecutive series
Then a series is selected, more grey squares. 3 episodes, it was a short season.
The two attachments below are what it looks like on the computer and what it looked like on the iPad before I updated to iOS 8
    ================================================================================ =========================================
    Now something a bit different.
The following programme was bought and downloaded from  iTunes. There is only one episode. I missed it when it was shown on TV.
The cover art seems normal.                                                                               When the programme is opened there is still a grey area though.
It seems that if a programme with only one episode is added to iTunes the normal cover art is displayed. This is the case with movies. Even the movies that i have converted to MPEG files and loaded into iTunes displays normal cover art until the file is opened.
    ================================================================================ ========================================
I have tried only 2 remedies. I deleteted some cover art and put it back. Then I made the supreme sacrifice and re-installed iOS 8 which meant i had to start from scratch again. Failed to fix the problem. I do not intend updating my iPhone. I have an iPhone 6 Plus on order and if it arrives before Yosemite is released I will be putting it in the drawer until Yosemite is released.
That is all I can think of, wait for iOS 8.0.1 and hope that it fixes things or wait until Yosemite is released and see what happens. I realise I won't have any options O/S wise when i start using the iPhone 6 Plus.
Cover art is also behaving strangely when music playlists are selected. iPhoto on the iPad does not work any more either. Have to wait for "Photo" on Yosemite.

Thanks muchly Jonathan. Mostly worked for Cadfael except when i got to step 3, selecting episodes there were still 3 grey rectangles. having established that it basically worked i didn't try any more. Can't help wondering why it's not a problem with the movies though.
Thanks again Jonathan, looks much better now
    Cheers :-)

  • Ipod failing to sync properly and cover art does not copy

Hello. My ipod wont sync properly, fails after about 10 albums with unknown error -53, and album cover art does not copy (fine in itunes). Have restored etc. Have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes software etc.
Have tried apple support helpline; send ipod off twice, just received replacement new/refurbished ipod today (as on 2nd attempt apple technicians found a problem they called "specific performance symptoms" with the old one).
New replacement one has the same problem as old one!
Has anyone seen this problem or had any joy getting a refund?... Any help much appreciated, thanks.

    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Music tab.
Are you selecting Sync all playlists?
Or if you are choosing Selected p[laylist, mkae sure all the playlists you want to sync are checked.

  • On itunes on my computer I put all my songs into the right albums and cover art on the albums but it doesn't show up that way on my ipod

On itunes on my computer I took the time to sort my songs put them by the correct artists and albums and got all the cover art for it but when i go to put it that way on my iPod it doesn't work that way? Why is it showing multiple albums for the same album and no cover art for some albums and unknown artists for the artist? It says differently on Itunes on my computer.

    Hi adtsalmon,
You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Here's the link to the Movie Rentals FAQs site FYI:

    Hope this helps!

  • Front Row, Shared Libraries and Cover Art.

I have my Macbook connected to my audio system and I share files between my Macbook and iMac. When playing files that are in the shared library (the files located on my iMac), most of the time the cover art doesn't show. Why is that?
I have noticed that the files where the Covert Art doesn't show up are files where the art was obtained through the iTunes store. The files where I have manually found the cover art work fine.

iTunes 7 does not embed artwork that it downloads, it stores it seperately.
You can embed it by applying it through the Get Info window. To do this:
    1. Ctrl-click on the picture in the lower left and select copy.
    2. Open preview and hit command-n to create a new file from the clipboard.
    3. Save the file to the desktop.
    4. Select all of the tracks on the album, ctrl-click on one and select "Get Info".
    5. Drag the picture from the desktop onto the artwork box.
You can also use a third party tool such as Curator or CoverScout.

  • Airtunes and Cover Art

iTunes (v8) is running on my MacBook (OS X 10.5.6).
When I use airtunes to play my iTunes music from Macbook to the Apple TV (selecting the Apple TV as the speakers in iTunes) it does not display the cover art on the Apple TV. Music plays, and it shows the artist and track name, however the cover art is blank.
All of my iTunes music has cover art and is in Apple lossles format (.m4a).
    What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at.
I have iTunes running on my Macbook. When I play music on my MacBook, in the lower right corner of iTunes I can select the speakers I want the audio output to. I can select computer (local), airport express, Apple TV or any combination.
When I select the Apple TV, audio output from iTunes comes out of the speakers on my TV (where Apple TV is connected). On the TV it also shows the track info of the song playing and a progress bar. Unfortunately, it just shows a generic "musical note" symbol for cover art.
I'm assuming iTunes is also sending the track into, otherwise how would the Apple TV show the track info? Because Apple TV is showing an empty cover art image I'm also assuming it's supposed to send that too. What's wrong?

  • Help with converting FLAC to ALAC while retaining metadata and cover art

    Hi,
I've decided to embark on the long trek to convert my 18k+ FLAC music library into ALAC. I've decided on ALAC for mainly 2 reasons: iTunes/iPhone/iMac/Sonos compatibility and my desire to keep with a lossless format.
My library is pretty eclectic; I have quite a bit of classical music along with many other genres. I have spent quite a bit of time maintaining the correct tag information; I do not want to lose any of this info that I've painstakingly added to my library over the years. The tags that I use on my FLAC files are:
    Filename
    Title
    Artist
    Album
    Album Artist
    Disc Number
    Disc Count
    Compilation
    Comment
    Year
    Genre
    Track
    Composer
    Orchestra
    Conductor
    Performer
    Length
    Modified
    Path
I want to be especially sure that I maintain the data in Composer, Orchestra, Performer and Conductor in my migration to ALAC. I also want to include my CD art in each track (many of which I had to scan since some of my CD's are not available for sale). The CD covers are stored in a "folder.jpg" file in the path of each CD's contents. I would really like the automated conversion process to pick up each "folder.jpg" and embed it in the appropriate tracks.
I have a license for dbPowerAmp, so I can do the conversion on the Windows side if need be (I have BootCamp set up and use Fusion), but I would prefer to do everything in Mac.
I am hoping that some of you good folks will offer up comments about the feasibility of this endeavor, and advise me on possible tools to use, paths to take, pitfalls to watch out for, etc.
    Thank you for your time.
    Mike

I finally got done with the conversion. It took 2 weeks running XLD of 24x7, but at last it's over with.
I first used iTunes "download missing album art" to start the process. It populated about 50% of my collection, but I found that many of the album art was wrong. For instance, with collections (various artists) it populated the album art from the first track; with others, it put in the wrong album cover for the right CD. These were mostly because iTunes would get a contemporary cover, where my cover was from an older pressing of the disk.
I purchased a program called TuneUp which has helped with my missing album artwork, and also with correcting typos. But even with using TuneUp, I probably have a couple of weeks worth of work left to do.
Then comes the renaming of the Classical music tracks.

  • Norton is evil..and cover art is invisible still

downloaded iTunes 7.1, this time without a problem. But I still can't get any album art!
PS: Norton is rubbish to me now. When I tried the orginal iTunes 7, norton firewall blocked it and now it decides to block access to my wireless network downstairs! But it's working fine now, it just took me nearly 2 weeks and half of my sanity and bothering my friend's dad to figure out that all I had to do to access the internet was turn off my firewall...go figure.

Yes, just logged into the account and no album art. The strange thing is that this my dad's HP desktop (authorized for the same account) can get a few album pictures but when I try on this desktop (even after double-checking the titles) get nothing.
    Help, anyone?

  • Playlist and cover graphics on burned cd's

I can burn cd-r's of music I've purchased on iTunes. When I do, I get the music but not the data (song titles, cover art etc.).
What should I do or what am I doing wrong?

    William,
If you're talking about Audio CD's, you're probably not doing anything wrong.
    Have a look at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607302&#607302
Although the song titles and cover art are both contained in the purchased .m4p files, that data will not be included in the Audio CD's you burn.

  • IPod touch 3G droping out cover art

Got a wierd problem. Whem i'm importing music into my iPod i'm verifying that the album contains cover art. the music and cover art are all there, ween now i'm playing the album i can see the cover art and that is fine. But! when i'm locking the screnn (using the top button) i usely see the cover art, but for newly added content i can't see the cover art! If i now restart iPod- the cover will be displayed in locking screen.
I'm not sure i'm clear enough so pl's let me know if any details required.
    Thanks

I don't see why it would be damaging to your iPod... You can also turn it off and turn it back on; it should do the same thing.

  • Problems concerning sonata playlists and freevo cover art

    Hi!
I'm setting up a media center PC and I'm having some problems with the playlists created by sonata. Another problem I have is not getting freevo to download cover art.
First: When ever I try to make a playlist through the "Current" tab in Sonata it creates a m3u file with every song that's listed in the current window. I'm used to being able to pick one or a couple of songs and then adding it a specified playlist. Is this impossible in sonata? And if I try to play the m3u file created (the one with every song listed) through freevo I get a message that the directory is empty. What am I doing wrong??
Second: I'm having big problems getting freevo to download cover art to my music. I can download info on movies from imdb, but info for the music doesn't work. I store the cover art downloaded by sonata in the different album folders and these covers show up in freevo. But if I have to play every new song i download first in sonata to get the cover art working in freevo I'll go crazy. It's supposed to work the same way in freevo as in sonata isn't it???
It also seems that mplayer can't play m3u files. Using the mentioned sonata made m3u file in mplayer does nothing. Mplayer starts but nothing happens.
My goal is to be able to make playlists through sonata and then play these lists using freevo. I don't want to get up from the couch.

    # TV Channels. This list contains a mapping from the displayed channel name
    # to the actual channel name as used by the TV watching application.
    # The display name must match the names from the XMLTV guide,
    # and the TV channel name must be what the tuner expects (usually a number).
    # The TV menu is supposed to be supported by the XMLTV application for
    # up to date listings, but can be used without it to just display
    # the available channels.
    # This list also determines the order in which the channels are displayed!

    # if you make changes here and restart!
    # Format: [('xmltv channel id', 'freevo display name', 'tv channel name'), ...]

    # the channel list based on the xmltv file. This doesn't work for all
    # xmltv grabber, e.g. the German list doesn't contain station lists. In this
    # case Freevo will output the possible list for you to add them manually.
    # If auto-detection doesn't work or you want to edit the list, run
    # freevo tv_grab -query.
    # Setting this variable to [] will deactivate the tv guide. If you don't have
    # a tv card, you may also want to add plugin.remove('tv') to remove the whole
    # tv menu.
    # All channels listed here will be displayed on the TV menu, even if they're
    # not present in the XMLTV listing.
    # Timedependent channels:
    # The TV_CHANNELS-list can look like this:
    # TV_CHANNELS = [('21', 'SVT1', 'E5'),
    # ('22', 'SVT2', 'E3'),
    # ('26', 'TV3', 'E10'),

It's clearly not impossible, just different than you expect. Create your playlist as you want it to appear in the Current tab (meaning don't dump every single song from your library in there, just the ones you want) and then save the playlist.
Perre wrote:And if I try to play the m3u file created (the one with every song listed) through freevo I get a message that the directory is empty. What am I doing wrong??
Look at save_absolute_paths_in_playlists in your mpd.conf.

  • My podcast cover art image has been replaced by the Wordpress bluberry thumbnail in iTunes? Can anyone please help tell me what to do? I made a cover art to the right spec and added it to my podcast episodes in my iTunes library

The cover art does not show on My iTunes library even when I'm playing it. The cover art does not show in Word press either when you open it on a laptop. But I think I used a feed burner for the podcast and that's why the word press done now has come up. My question is that iTunes have Successfully I did my podcast however my son now is not my heart and I need to change that. Can anybody here please help me? I think it has something to do with the feed burner or potentially the way I have uploaded. I uploaded the podcast directly into WordPress I did not use any other hosting sites like libsyn.

I don't quite understand why you have asked me about why I'm keeping my URL secret?
It's only that I'm not clear why you are reluctant to post it. If you have a podcast in the iTunes Store then it's there for the world to see - they might search on its subject or title, for example, even if they don't actually know about it from you. If you look at other posts in this forum you will see that usually people post their URLs and then I can examine the feed and hopefully find out from that what the problem is. Without this information no-one can give you anything more than wild guesses.
If you are still reluctant to post the details and want to have a bash at diagnosing the problem yourself you may find my web pages helpful:

  • I've always wanted to obtain and have perfect resolutioned cover art for my albums. I have been and downloaded albums from the iTunes store, and they come with really great cover art. How can I get cover art as precise and clean as the albums have on ther

My problem mainly concerns cover art.
There have been times when I downloaded albums from the iTunes store to find its cover art it is absolutely beautiful, and is absolutely 100% un stretched. Whereas when I have gotten images for a specific album from Google Images it's terribly pixelated and totally disgusting.
Is there a way for me to obtain cover art for my albums that is has clarity equal to the cover art on the iTunes store albums.
Or will it basically boil down to I can only get that cover art by downloading my albums off the store?

The old iTunes libraries do not restore any playlists or song counts.
They should you if you do the roll back properly... Opening files from the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in Windows Explorer simply opens the current library. If you don't see the .itl file extension then don't give your copied and renamed file the extention or iTunes will create an empty library rather than using the renamed file.
If you had a complete pre-problem backup of your library you could restore that. On the assumption that isn't possible I have a script called ExportImport that could in principle be adjusted to save the relevant data from a backup of the library database and then reimport that data into the current library. See this thread for details.
