Burning Car-stereo usable CDs

I am having trouble burning a CD in Audition, which will play back in my car stereo.  (my car is fairly new, 3 years old and has a real good factory system).
I'm certain that the trouble is that I am not burning it using the standard AUDIO cd sample rate of 4100 hz and 16-bit rate.
*I do need to point out that I have been able to get around this by using the wonderful program iTunes, BUT, obviously since my audio creations are done in Adobe Audition I would like to be able to output to a "car-stereo-user" cd player without going through the intermediate step of burning the cd by adding the contest to the iTunes playlist.
Thanks.
Kevin
P.S. I'm running version 3.0 on a Gateway computer with Vista OS.

Just for the record, when I mention problems with CDs burned in Audition, I wasn't specifically talking about a car stereo--unless I manually convert to 44.1/16 bit, they're the wrong sample rate and bit depth.  When I've checked the faulty CDs, it turns out that AA3 has burned them at whatever the original spec was despite claiming to have done the conversion.
That is a bit weird, Bob. The problem is that whatever audio signals are sent to the CD writer, the 16-bit words are split into 8 bit words, and these are each  converted to a 14-bit symbol. The process is decoded by comparing these symbols with 16-bit words in an EPROM lookup table, and that's what comes out. The process is clocked by hardware, and it's only 16-bit stereo audio that it's possible to process at all with this process.
Which means that if Audition has written them at the wrong rate, then they are data files that were written, not audio ones. And Audition has never had the ability to write data files in the CD-writing section...
So what's really going on?

How can I burn CDs that will play on my car stereo CD player?

Make sure the format when you burn your playlist is one your car's CD player will recognize. Typically mp3 songs are readable now but when in doubt, burn an audio cd. Yes, you will get less songs per cd (as compared to mp3 formatted one) but you are guaranteed the cd will work in any place.  Most cars have it written on the radio somewhere what formats it can read for CDs.. Good luck!

  • I can't play a burned cd in my car stereo

Help!  I am unable to play a burned cd in my car stereo with the latest update to itunes.  Any suggestions?

I don't know where I would find the file to be dragged. Nothing appears when I insert the disc into the tray, except a window saying that Quicktime isn't installed, which is not true and never was. Quicktime 7 is there.
The instructions that came with the cd-rom also say to use a file on the disc (to install a QT-16 bit). If I could find any files from this disc, I'd do it.
Part of my problem is I've never played a cd-rom before and I don't know how. if there is a "how" to it, aside from inserting the disc. Actually the label beneath the tray says it's a dvd drive. Maybe I don't have a cd-rom drive. There is another tray above it, which I think is for playing cd's. When I put the cd-rom in the other tray, nothing happens. When I put it in the dvd tray, the computer hums and claims Quicktime isn't installed.
A bit long-winded but does it paint a picture?

  • Can't copy iTunes or Library music to CD that will play in my car stereo

I am having problems burning purchased iTunes (and my own CDs in my Music Library) to a CD that I can use in my car stereo.
I've read the articles on how to do this, but it's not working for me.
The purchased CD is in the AAC format as are my own CDs that I loaded into the Music Library. Audio CD is selected in the Preferences>Advanced>Burning tab. I'm using CD-R music CDs by TDK. These CDs have worked in my car stereo without a problem (when I've done an exact disc copy of a CDs I've purchased at various stores). The car stereo is a factory installed multi-disc CD player in a 2005 Lexus.
Before trying to burn a CD in iTunes, I create a separate playlist and copy the songs I want to burn to that playlist and then select the Burn Disc button. The burning process works just fine. However, when I look at the contents of the burned CD, it only contains 1KB files (one for each song track). When I look at the properties of the files on the CD, it says the files are to be opened w/iTunes. Well, that totally defeats the purpose...my car obviously doesn't have iTunes.
Everyone else I talk to says they just hit the Burn disc button and they get a CD that works in their car. What am I doing wrong???
I've also tried re-importing the burned CD (w/the 1kb files) using the AIFF format and then burning a different CD w/those newly AIFF imported songs, but I get the same result (and waste another CD)...1kb shortcuts...
Oh, yeah, and I have TWO Dell computers (both w/the newest version of iTunes (7.0.2.16). I tried burning a CD on BOTH computers but got the SAME result (nada) on both.
From searching on the message boards, no one else seems to have this problem...what am I missing??

    Nevermind...apparently I have no clue what I'm doing...it works...

  • Disasterous iTunes CD playback in car stereo

    Hi,
    Strange little problem:
Burned to CDs in iTunes and for first time brought them to the car.
CDs play back fine on computer and on a CD player before and after and the discs are clean.
Bt in the car there is horrendous static, skipping, and sometimes just plain failure of tracks - quite simply you couldn't listen to a whole of one song.
The car is a 1yr old toyota that unfortunately dosn't have a aux jack - thought it was the car cd player that was at fault but brought it to my brothers brand new lexus and exactly the same...
Is there a way I can deauthorise the cds I made so that I amn't using up all the DRM attempts - not sure how many I can burn?
Should I try to burn cd at a slow rate?
    Any other suggestions?
    thanks

Burn at 8x or 12x not at maximum. That should help. Sometimes if you "jam" the cd to the limit (20 to 25 tracks) car stereos don't like that either.
Do a test by ripping back your tracks to iTunes from that cd and use those tracks to do a test burn.

  • After an update, my touch is no longer recognized by iTunes or USB input on car stereo

Formerly I was able to connect my touch to both iTunes (Windows) and through USB on my car stereo (Kenwood).  After updating the touch's IOS I cannot connect to either.  I am able to connect to the car stereo through blue tooth.  I did open an iCloud account for the touch but I doubt that is a factor.  I have tried turning the unit completely off and that does not help.  I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it making certain I used the 64-bit version.  It is still not recognized.  Any ideas on what to try next?

As it turns out, this was a hardware failure.  One of the pins on the bottom connector was bent and  caused the problem. What burns me is the problem initially showed itself after updating to ios 5.0.1.  I tried a reset over the weekend (including deleletion of my entire music collection) to no avail.  I took it in to the local Apple store today and they essentially turned it into a paper weight.  After putting it into recovery mode the unit would no longer turn on at all.  Unfortunately they wouldn't replace the unit for free because it was 11 days out of warranty.  I could have lived with the Touch with all my music on it, but it was worthless after the music was deleted.  I feel like they should have replaced it for free.  I was planning on upgrading to the next iPhone but this has shaken my confidence (as well as irritating the living **** out of me).
To be fair, Apple did replace the player at a reduced rate.  That was better than nothing.

  • IPod and JVC Car Stereo random resetting problem

    Hey all,
I recently bought my first iPod (yay!), a 30gig 5th generation. I also had a JVC KD-PDR30 cd player installed in my car so that I could hook up the iPod to it and eliminate all the random cds cluttering up my vehicle. It works great -- most of the time... the last few days I've my iPod has been randomly resetting itself while connected to the car stereo -- it's connected through the dock port (not the headphone jack) and works 90% of the time. Even still, this is frustrating. I almost want to just connect it from the headphone jack to the aux in on the car stereo. Anyway, it only seems to do this while it is connected to the car stereo. I've never had a problem with the iPod resetting while using it outside of the car. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Apple community!!!
    Theo

I had the JVC radio with iPod connector which worked just fine for my old iPod. When I upgraded to the iTouch I had to put in a new JVC stereo. The old version does not work with the iTouch (the same issues prev. stated). The new stereo has an USB hookup on the front. It plays the iTouch, but occas. the song or book will skip. At first I thought it was when I turned corners, but realized it was just random. A bit annoying. I looked at other stereos, but I could not get the iTouch and Sirus in the same unit, except for the JVC. If you can live without your iTouch I would wait until JVC or Apple address this issue. I could not live without either (I hate commercials!), so I made the jump to the first generation. I know better.

  • How can i convert a quick time movie file to a cd that will play in a car stereo?

how can i convert a quick time movie file to a cd that will play in a car stereo?

In quicktime, I would try File -> Export -> Audio. It will create an audio file. Then drop it onto your playlist into  iTunes. Burn the list from itunes with File -> Burn to disk    and then select Audio CD.
If you have Quicktime  7 it should be easier and export to AIFF directly

  • Car stereo unable to read CD's

I'm trying to brurn MP3 cd's for my car stereo and have followed the instructions in iTunes help but when the CD's finished, the computer can play the CD but my CD player and car stereo can't!

I have having similar problems.... My car player will not play the discs I create with itunes.
I think the problem is due to the fact that when you use itunes to create a mp3 disc the software creates subfolders (for the artist, then album). I think the car mp3 player can not recognize this structure.
I have used Windows MP to create a similar mp3 disc (same format and same music files) and the disc plays perfectly in my car.
I would prefer to use itunes, Does anyone know how to create mp3 cds without a file folder structure. I can not find how to change this default.
    Thanks!

  • Car Stereo Help/iPod support

I'm looking for a new car stereo that can play music off of my iPhone. Most models I've seen say they support wma/mp3/aac, but some CDs I've ripped are in m4a. After looking around on the internet for a while, I get the impression that m4a files are converted to aac and are playable, but can't find anything that says that definitively.
Is this true, and if not, do you know of a stereo model that does play m4as?

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
any model that states it is compatible with iPod will play the music in the music library of the iPod without any converting. Unfortunately it wont play MP4s from a CD data disk but it will read them if they are in the ipod itself.

  • Can I use iTunes to convert m4a to mp3 for use on my car stereo

I would like to burn a playlist to a CD for playing on my car stereo.  If I use the default audio option, the CD sounds terrible, so I guess I need to select the mp3 option instead.  When I do that, however, I'm told that my files are in m4a format and need to be in mp3 format instead.  Can I use iTunes to convert m4a files to mp3, and if so, how? I wish to retain the songs in my iTunes so I suspect I need to make copies of the original and convert the copies, but I don't know how to do this either.

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • Playing my iPhone through the car stereo

I am looking for a new car stereo and the biggest feature I want is to be able to play music off of my iPhone on it. Almost every model I've looked at says it plays wma/mp3/aac. Most of my music files are mp3s, but the last few CDs I ripped in .m4a (Apple loseless). After researching it, I kind of have the impression that m4as are converted to aac, and will be played, but cannot for the life of me find a place that definitively says this. Can anyone help me out?

Not sure if this info is necessary, but some players connect to the iPhone through the headphone jack, some through USB, and most can do either.

  • IPod no longer works with car stereo since upgraded MBA & iTunes

My iPod classic has worked just fine connected to my car stereo since i bought it last june. I just bought a new Macbook Air (OS 10.7.3) & installed ITUNES 10.6.1. After I synched my ipod for the first time its recognised by the car but i get a "can't read data" message. I re-formatted my ipod but its exactly the same. Do you think its the upgrade- or the cable? Has anyone else found a bug with this version of Itunes or the OS? I have my doubts a cable would make the difference, and my old ipod nano that i haven't synched for a while works fine.

If standalone works fine, then, most likely the 30 pin connect may have some dirt or lint, prevent data transfer.
You can try to blow it clean, if you have a can of compressed air or gas.
Alternatively you can connect it to the car stereo and do the RESET, while connnected.as follows
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs

The Reset sequence may send a signal to the Car stereo to do the right thing

  • After iOS5 update, iPod no longer connects to car stereo

    Hi,
my husband and I both have an iPod touch 4th generation.
We also have a Dodge Caravan with a car stereo, that lets up hook up the iPods and control them over the display. The cable does not charge the iPods, but we knew that.
I have updatedt my iPod a while ago and never encountered any problems with the car stereo.
My husband updated his iPod to iOS5 today, and the car stereo does not connect via the cable. On the iPods display it just says, an error has ocurred.
Would that be a hardware issue? The iPod is a month or two past warranty. We already tried restarting and resetting the iPod (not to factory settings).
Is there maybe a way, to return the iPod to iOS4?
    Thanks for any help

Sometimes, when you cannot "see" your ipod, it is because the drive that was assigned to the ipod, when you connected it, is already being used by the other devise. Your ipod is connected, but is "under" the other item, which means that you have to disconnect that item, so that you can "see" it. It will not be one of the drives that are normally associated with the computer like the C drive, or the ones assigned to your disc drives. It would be a drive that was assigned to an external devise, or another USB devise. This may or may not be your problem, but it is worth a shot.
