Burning cd's or mp3's

when burning cd's or mp3's onto a blank cd make sure
there are no punctuation marks in your playlist title.
I just learned after a frustrating past couple of days that
that was why it wouldn't burn my cd's. I have learned my lesson.. thnx for everyone's help....

The iTunes Store sells songs in AAC format. Most Android phones can play AACs. Just sync them to your phone per the instructions with the phone.
If by any chance your phone does require MP3 format, you can use iTunes to convert the files, per this guide:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format - Apple Support
(This conversion does not require burning.)
For future reference, note that the iTunes Store is really optimized for people using Apple devices. You might find it more convenient to buy music in Mp3 format from Amazon Digital Music or Google Play Music.

Same thing for a movie file.. If you want to play back the movie via a DVD and a DVD player you must create a Movie DVD and not just burn files to a data DVD... as Data DVDs are just storage devices for files and therefore will only work with computers...
Movie DVDs are special formats that include things like menus and special file formats.. so they can playback via a DVD Player...
You will need a 3rd party DVD Burning app like Toast which is what i actually use.... or the more popular DVD Creator app...to create and then burn a Movie DVD that will playback on a DVD Player....

When I try to burn a CD with mp3-files, I get the following error message:
The attempt to burn a disc has failed. An unknown error occurred (1771).

I think I solved this for me. I had Netbarrier set to enable "Information Hiding" when I first had this problem. Unchecking that setting solved the problem.

same problem. Im using itunes version 10.6.3, I converted wavs burnt from cd, to mp3 using itunes, these were NOT PURCHASED from itunes, and when I try to burn an mp3 cd using the new mp3 files, they convert to wavs before my eyes every time i create a new playlist of the mp3. The mp3 revert to wav within less than 30 seconds. As if itunes is saying, let me help, I substitute the higher quality 1411 wav files for you. And of course, now they wont burn to mp3, because "they must be converted to mp3 first" before burning.

How do I burn a playlist as MP3 without getting heaps of duplicates in my library and the playlist still in the original format?

I thought if I made up a playlist and chose to burn it as MP3 it would just happen. Even after I choose to convert the songs to MP3 I am left with the same message, Only files that are already in MP3 CD format may be burned to an MP3 CD.
Is this really the way it is or am I making some mistake?

Createa playlist with the songs you want.

change the import settings
create a new playlist
create MP3 versions in this new playlist.
change the import settings back
Then burn an MP3 CD of this new playlist.
Select the new playlist (only MP3) then Option delete to delete the playlist and all (MP3) songs in it.

Burn CDs to play MP3 format - with Lion

Can someone remind me how to burn a CD that will play on an MP3 player or older car CD player? I've done it before, but Lion has had an update since then...and I can't remember how to change the burn settings. And yes...I am using a music CD-R, not a data CD. Thanks.

Treble clef was probably just printed on the disc and has no special meaning. Any CD-R disc can be a audio disc or a data disc. Which it ends up being depends upon how you burn it.
From reading other posts, apparently the burn item is under File. You select a playlist, then File > Burn I am guessing at that stage you are presented with the type of CD to create.
Older car players probably cannot do mp3 CDs. If you have a MP3 player -- well, I'm not sure how you'd put a CD into a mp3 player. Most ipods I have seen do not have CD drives! If you mean a mp3 compatible audio CD player, for that there is probably a mp3 format selection or you need to create a data CD with mp3 files on it.

Ok I finally figured out my problem with no help from Dumb Dell. I made a backup copy of my old computer onto an external hard drive. When I plugged in that external hard drive it automatically copied my Itunes Library onto my computer. When I tried to play a song from Itunes it could not locate the song. So I plugged in my external hard drive and the song would play and low and behold I was then able to burn a playlist onto a disk. So now I need to figure out how to get my music from the hard drive to my new iTunes library locally on the pc anybody know how to do this??

ITunes - trouble burning Playlist converted to MP3?

tried burning a playlist, received error that the songs had to be originally MP3 to burn to a CD disk. Followed instructions on how to convert those songs to MP3, which I did, and when I tried to burn the converted playlist, received that same message.

When you convert tracks with iTunes (or most any other conversion program), it creates new files in the indicated format, but leaves the originals in place.
In your case, you have to go into the playlist, remove the originals, and add in the new MP3s. They you will be able to burn an MP3 CD.

Media Burner App vs. iPod Mp3's

I was wondering if it would save me any space if I deleted my Media Burner music and videos and put them as Mp3's into my iPod library. Does a single Mp3 file take up less space than a single Media Burner video? I'm interested in freeing up some space and was curious if this would make any difference. I currently have 1.7 GB of music and 1.7 GB of Media Burner media if this information helps any. Thanks and any help/answers are appreciated.

I went to the options box in the summary pane and checked the box to convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps ACC. It reduced the music usage by a bit which is good. Now I just have to confirm if it would be a good idea to reduce my app usage and delete Media Burner by getting those files as Mp3s and adding them to the library as 128 kbps ACCs.Thank you for your quick reply.

Exporting AIFF or WAV - Burn CD - Import as MP3

I have a strange problem ... first off, I am a Mac Newbie. I have used PC software to record, export, burn, extract music files for some time now without a problem like this.
Recently I acquired a mac and I'm now using Garage Band to record my CDs. I sell professional CDs online and so they need to be able to function perfectly.
The problem I am now encountering is that I will export and burn a perfect CD. It sounds great when I import it back into itunes on another computer, whether that import is an mp3, a wav, or any kind. It sounds fine on that computer.
But when I take that same .mp3 or .aac file or apple lossless, and sync it into my iphone, it sounds horrible. When I say horrible I mean, you can hear the music ok, but my voice is barely audible and all garbled sounding.
However, I can take other CDs I have made from my PC, import those, and the mp3 versions on my iphone sound perfect.
Since I sell these CDs, in the event someone sticks the CD in their computer and decides that they want to import the CD as an MP3, I don't want them to have to mess around with it to make it play properly.
So, the problem needs to be rectified at the level of exporting or burning or even something before that I am not aware of.
Again, I am new to Mac. I am actually using itunes to burn the CD. Could that be the problem? Maybe there is a better software to make a better CD that will import properly?

Well, I believe I have resolved my own problem. It's kinda silly. I think in my old software on my pc, I had it already configured to default to record the tracks in mono. Something I guess I had long forgotten about. So, changing the tracks to mono definitely has fixed the issue here. I KNEW it had something to do with what I was doing wrong in my recording software, and not an itunes or iphone problem as apple was trying to get me to believe.

depends, what are you aiming to do? backing up to a dvd is fine, you can put them back on your mac or sumthing else fine. however if u wanted to listen to them, then u would need a cd to use in a cd player.
but you could use the dvd in your mac, and play through itunes fro it
