Burning CD so it works in portable CD player.

How do I configure my CD burner so portable CD players can read it?
Satellite a215-s4747
Windows Vista Home premium 32 bit
CD will play on PC but not on Philips portable CD player.

What disk burning software program are you using to burn the CD? Are you trying to create an Audio CD or a CD with MP3 files on it?
While Vista does have the ability to burn CD's, its best to use dedicated CD/DVD burning software like Nero, Sonic or Roxio. Those disk burning programs will create properly formatted audio CD's that should be readable in most if not all CD players. Also it is possible that the portable CD player cannot read certain types of CD-R media. And if using a DVD-R or DVD+R disks to record to, most portable "CD only" players will not read/play DVD disks.
Nero Burnlite is a free program that will allow the user to create audio CD's in addition to data CD/DVD's.

  • Burned CDs won't play on portable player

My friend who has a PC has been burning CDs for me of spoken-word MP3s. They play fine on my portable CD player. Recently she gave me a USB drive with a bunch of MP3s for me to burn myself on my new MacBook Pro. The CDs I burned won't play on the CD player (but they will play in iTunes on my computer). I don't understand what's going on...can anyone help out? Thanks.

Yes, if your interest is only in burning CDs and you don't want to keep the music in iTunes, the process is pretty cumbersome. You may want to buy a disc burning application like Toast, which can burn all sorts of formats without your needing to import anything into iTunes.

  • I created a iMovie with photos, music and titles; shared it with the media browser and burned it on a DVD RDL. The disc will play on my MacBook Pro, but it will not play on my Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player or a smaller portable DVD player. Why?

I created an iMovie with photos, music and titles; shared it with the media browser and burned it on a DV+RDL. The disc will play on my MacBook Pro, but it will not play on my Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player or a smaller portable DVD player. Why?

Probably because they don't accept that media.
Try using Verbatim DVD+DL (if your project exceeds 2 hours) or Verbatim DVD-R if it doesn't.

  • Why when I burn to disc a playlist in itunes (audio files) it will play in a portable cd player, but won't play in two different auto cd players?

Why when I burn a playlist (audio files) to a cd-rw, it will play in a portable cd player,
but when attempting to play in two different auto cd players it won't play and reads as "error"?

CD-RWs tend to have a lot of problems when used for audio CDs.  I suggest you try the burn again using a CD-R.

  • Burn/Dodge tool not working

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.
When using it earlier, I discovered that the burn tool would not work, no matter how i adjusted its settings. I also found out that the image was in Greyscale mode, which I manually changed to RGB mode. I hadnt changed it to Greyscale mode so I dont know how it came to be that way. I wonder if there is another mode it needs to be in for the burn tool to work?
Another point, once i changed it to RGB mode, i tried the burn tool on another color and it was working. It will not work on the gray part of the image im working with. Really not sure why that is...

It seems that the transparency was the problem, somehow.
I saved the file as a JPG and re-opened it in Photoshop, and the burn tool worked.
    bah.
    Thanks though.

  • HT203164 My newly installed burner works fine from i-tunes, except the burned disk won't work in my car CD player. The old burner's disks work just fine in the car. Please help.

My newly installed burner works fine from i-tunes, except the burned disk won't work in my car CD player. The old burner's work just fine in the car. Please help.

Using my new G5 I have the same problem, which I did not know using my old G4 with an external LaCie burner. The CD-Changer in my car is not able to read audio-cds, also my cd-player in my home hifi-system. The only way to play these audio-cds is (strange...) to put them directly in the main tuner of my car (usually used for the navigation cd), not using the Changer.
Maybe the problem really depends on the quality of the CD-Rs. I have used CD-Rs from Sony (it´s a brand, I think?) and will try Verbatim.

  • Encore burned DVD won't work in DVD Player

I just created, built and burned a DVD in the latest version of Encore on my i7 MacBook Pro. After the disc is burned, it works perfectly in both a PC and a mac computer. Unfortunately it doesn't work in my Vizio DVD/Blue-Ray Player. I have double checked to make sure normal DVDs play normally, which they do.
The contents of the DVD take up about 4.65 GBs of space and include a few PDFs as DVD-ROM.
I literally followed every instruction to the letter and am just not sure why it's not working in the DVD Player. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The DVD burner is the stock burner on the 2012 MacBook Pro 13inch (not retna display) I think it's a: Matshita DVD-R UJ-8A8(Firmware HB14)
    The DVD was just a Maxwell DVD-R, 4.7GB, 16x.
I will try burning without the DVD-ROM contents and let you know.
Thanks again for helping me with this.

  • Quality Portable DVD Player

The iDVD slideshows I've made look great on my television, but when I play them on my portable DVD player they look really bad. The picture quality just isn't there on the portable screen.
Can anyone recomend a quality portable DVD player that works well with iDVD.
    Photoscene

    Hi P
Don't think it is Your portable.
How to test ? Try a commercial DVD movie.
Still bad - You got a bad player
Good - You observed the diffrernce of play-back a DVD on a CRT-TV resp LCD (flat) screen. Nothing easy to do but:
    - Make Your movies less than 60 min and select - BEST PERFORMANCES -
    - Best quality is for > 60 min and < 120 min movies and the quality is
    not as good as above.
To get even better quality You might first:
    - make a disk image and burn it with Apple Disk util tool at lower speed (x1 - 4)
    - I have observed that the quality degrades if You have less than 20Gb free space
on the internal hard disk (where this work should be done)
    or
Buy DVD Studio pro ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) Huh !!
    Yours Bengt W

  • Why doesn't my slideshow burned to disc not play on my dvd player or game devices?

Why doesn't my slideshow burned to disc not play on my dvd player or game devices?  I've created the slideshow using my Mac on OS X 10.6.8 & burned to both a CD-R & DVD disc.  The disc does work on my computer; however will not play on my dvd player, projectors or gaming devices.

Did you use iDVD to create a video DVD or did you burn a Quicktime file version of your slideshow to a DVD disk via the Finder thus creating just a data disk?
If you didn't use iDVD then that's the reason the disk won't play on those other devices.

  • How to make a photo CD to work in a DVD-player?

I burn photo CDs in Finder in my MacBook. No problem with the burning, but the CD doesn't work in my DVD-player. I can see some of the photos, but some are just grey "items". A photografer told me to use a setting in the burning program that burns the CD in PC format. That would make my photo CD to work in PCs and DVD players. The problem is that I can't find any settings like that when I burn CDs in finer. Are there any? Shall I use some other program to burn?

It’s not a good solution. (I’m no expert at IPhoto.) The manual in iPhoto says that you have to export the photos to a burning map in Finder if want the photo CD to work in Windows and PCs. Then the problem is back. I can see the photos, but there is grey “item” for every photo.
The other way is to burn direct from iPhoto. OK, no grey items. But the photos are “down sized” in quality and not full size if you want to look at them on your TV via your DVD player.

  • Having trouble installing LG slim portable DVD player to my new MacBook Air?

Having trouble installing LG slim portable DVD player to my new MacBook Air?

No installation required. Just plug it in to a USB port and it should work. If it doesn't then either the drive is no good or the USB port has failed.
The DVD drive will not show up on the desktop or in Finder unless you have a CD or DVD disc inserted in it. It will show in Disk Utility when it is connected to one of the USB ports.
Could also be your Air is not supplying enough power to it from just one USB port. In that case you would need a Y USB cable that connects to 2 USB ports at the same time to supply the correct amount of power to the drive.

  • Burned a DVD but wont play in DVD player

pretty much wat the topic says. i'm 13, i burned a few movies that i got from iTunes music store and when i popped the DVD into my DVD player i said that the playback feature was unable to be used or something like that. is there any way i can burn these to a DVD that will work in a DVD player?

I'm sorry to say, no, you can't.
Movies and TV shows purchased on iTunes can only be played on an authorized computer, or on an iPod.
The DVD that you burned is a data DVD, which is a different format than a video DVD. Burning a DVD as you did is a good idea to back up and protect your purchases, but you cannot play the DVD in a regular DVD player.
If you want to watch your purchased movies on a TV, the options are to hook up an iPod to the TV, hookup the computer to a TV, or wait for Apple's iTV product which will allow wireless streaming of video from your computer to your TV.

  • Portable DVD Player Compatable with iPod touch?

Does anyone know of a portable DVD player compatible with iPod touch that has a reasonable battery life? Philips makes a portable DVD player - the DCP 851 - that has an iPod touch dock, but the battery life is only 2.5 hrs. There are several other portable DVD players out there with substantially longer battery lives (Panasonic has one with a 13 hr. battery life), but generally they don't seem to be compatible with an iPod (most appear to only have A/V input through a mini jack, and I can't seem to find an iPod-to-mini jack converter). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It will only require that you change the security and password on your other devices. Apple devices work much better with WPA, and WPA is far more secure than WEP.
It should be relatively simple to re-configure the router's wireless security to use WPA2 or WPA Personal security. WPA passwords do not require any special characters like WEP does. Once you re-configure the router all you need do is make the appropriate changes in your other devices to use WPA security and enter the new password.

  • Portable DVD Player with iPhone 5 Dock

I have a RCA portable DVD player that has a docking station for the iPhone 4 and other models with the 30 pin connector. I have upgraded to the iPhone 5 with the 8 pin connector. I thought that the 30 pin to 8 pin converter cable would work or the HDMI connector cable but neither did. Does anyone know if there is a portable DVD player that has the docking station for the iPhone 5?

Hi Have  a look for D V D Player with Bluetooth or a 3.5 plug to fit your headphones, socket on iphone. Cheers Brian
