Burning CDs in Windows Vista with iTunes 7.1

I have iTunes working pretty well for the most part in Windows Vista (Ultimate x64). The only thing that I can't get to work is CD burning. For some reason iTunes doesn't recognize my burner. In the preferences, it says No supported Disc burners found. My burner is a NEC DVD+-RW ND-3450A and Vista recognizes the drive and can burn to it. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

hmmmm. it might be the x64 aspect that is troubling you here.
can you post your DVD/CD diagnostics? (i want to check to see if you're getting a 2380 error in there.)
in itunes, go "help > run diagnostics", select DVD/CD diagnostics, and paste the complete results into a reply.

  • Issues in identifying IPAD2 on Windows Vista with Itunes 10.6

I was using Windows Vista 32 bit Home  edition with Itunes 10.5 and my IPAD2 was perfectly syncing with the laptop. After upgrade to Itunes 10.6.1 the laptop OS can identify IPAD is connected but Itunes fails to identify IPAD is connected. I also have an IPOD which is still syncing normally to same Itunes. I have tried all options listed in IPAD troubleshooting assistant, but none seem to work.
I do not intend to loose the data by syncing to another library on a different hardware since I have few pictures and videos that are not backed up to this Vista laptop.

Syncing has nothing to do with being able to copy the pictures off the device to save them.
Take care of that first... then you can safely attempt additional troubleshooting without worrying about losing the pictures and videos.
    Have you tried:
    multiple USB ports?
    Different sync cable?
    Restarting the iPad?
    Rebooting the computer?

  • Windows vista with itunes 7..?

ok well this is the second time i downloaded itunes to this pc and it says it will take 13 hours to download when it took like 5 minutes the first time...whats up...?

I don't know, but it has nothing to do with iTunes. It could be Apple's servers or your ISP.

When installing itunes of my PC with Windows Vista, the itunes program "took over" all of my desktop icons.  How can I install it so it doesn't do that?  Thanks!

You can force Vista to rebuild the desktop icons by changing your monitor's color depth momentarily. In the display properties, change to 16-bit color. Then change back to 32-bit.

    Hi there Br0x,
You may want to try rebuilding the iTunes library as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • ITunes is not installed properly. If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes .

I have installed iTunes on my new Windows 8 laptop and I get the "iTunes is not installed properly.  If you wish to Import or burn CDs you need to reinstall  iTunes."
I have worked with Dell technicians and we have re-installed iTunes numerous times.  We modified the Registry by adding the Upper Filters key and we removed the CD player in Device Manager and allowed it to be automatically reinstalled by the computer.  All of this failed.
    Please help!

    Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I understand you've already uninstalled iTunes previously to troubleshoot this issue but make sure to follow the steps in the following article to remove iTunes and all of its components in the specific order listed.

  • Windows Vista and iTunes does not work

First Time sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany and my English is not the best.
I have the new Windows Vista but iTunes does not work good.
And I have to use it, to manage my music on my iPod.
When there will be a Vista compatibles Version of iTunes??
And when will come an 64-Bit Version?
    Thanks for Help,
    Karsten

iTunes running under VISTA does not recognize media burned by iTunes Backup (v7.0.2) from a non-Vista machine.
The original machine recognizes the media just fine, but the new VISTA machine does not recognize the dvd at all.
Anyone else having a problem with VISTA recognizing burnt media?

  • ITunes was not installed properly.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes

With Windows 7 I have completely deleted anything that was associated with Apple, Help, Support, you name it.  It was verified nothing Apple.  Reboot took place.  I reinstalled iTunes per instructions and once again I got the following:
iTunes was not properlyinstalled.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes.
    Oviously something is amiss.

Having finally found a post to the same situation, I ran diagnostics and believe I have the same problem as this post.  Here is the diagnostic report:
Microsoft Windows 7 Business Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
    Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8460p
    iTunes 1.14.43
    Apple Application Support 2.1.9

  • TS3299 iTunes was not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes

I've installed iTunes 10.6 on my Windows 7 machine.  Everytime I start it I get this message:  iTunes was not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes.
    Reinstalling iTunes made no difference.
So I found this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3299  and updated the registry like it said and it still didn't work but it also had the effect of making my CD drive no longer work for anything, including playing movies.   Before following those instructions I could read and write cds using Windows Media player.  Fortunately, I had backed up my registry leaf and restored it.
So I've been trying to figure out how to burn a cd from iTunes for close to two months now with no luck.  Does anybody know how to get rid of the above error message?
    Thank you!
    David

I can no longer burn CDs  - "may be incompatible with this disc burner, try a slower speed, try another make of disc"  Tried that, still doesn't work.

Try a free burning utility which allows you to turn off the laser for test burning (so you don't waste media).  Try burning a test CD outside of iTunes.  If it works it's iTunes. If it doesn't work it could be computer software or hardware but then we know how to proceed.

I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 with iTunes installed. Now my iPhone 4S is no longer recognized in iTunes. Connecting the iPhone with USB sends me directly to the MS app that downloads pictures from the iPhone. Suggest this is a question of missing Apple driver for Windows 8, iTunes and iPhone. MS does not care! This seems to be a general problem with Windows 8 that a number of drivers that used to work with Windows 7 now do not work, ie. iPhone to iTunes, HTC to HTCSync, Samsung to Kies etc. I need this connection to work in order to syncronize with Outlook and my iTunes library.

There will be a new version of iTunes released this month... no one forced you to upgrade prior to a supported version of iTunes being released.
