Burning Cds Not Working

i try to burn cds.
when i put a cd in my drive itunes says you have inserted a blank cd so it knows the drive is there ect.
i go to burn and it says
""DISK BURNER OR SOFTWARE NOT FOUND""
i can burn in windows media player and nero burning rom just not itunes.
any help
im using 7.3 btw.

I'm having the same problem, i tried disabling daemon tools and re-installing itunes but it still wont work. i even restored my crappy compaq to factory settings but its still not working. i was using it to burn cds three days ago and it just stopped at one point. when i go to preferences it says no cd drive found or something, but windows, nero, and sonic can all burn. any ideas? thanks

You have given us little to go on. What Mac product line and model? Different Macs take different optical drives.
Also, when asking what is available, telling us you general geographic location is a help. That way, someone won't recommend a vendor that cannot ship to your location.
Although you cannot determine from the non-intuitive forum title Apple chose, the forum you found is for Mac hardware made before 1998. Anything here get very few views. If you have a newer model, we can ge the Hosts to move you to a more active forum and more eyeballs.

DVD burner still not working

Even with the 10.6.2 update my external firewire dvd burners are still not working with Snow Leopard but they work fine with Leopard.

Another thing that I have noticed is that if I unplug then plug the firewire cable from the burner back in whilst a disc is in it then it will mount.

Why is ken burns effect not working on individual slides I have amended when sent to iDVD

When making a slideshow in iPhoto, I changed the zoom and scan on individual slides as instructed in the Help dialog; these showed perfectly when played. However, when I shared the slideshow to iDVD, those particular slides were just 'still' and there was no Ken Burns effect at all. Why did this happen?

The Slideshow was created in iPhoto and then shared to iDVD. The Ken Burns effect works on all the photos that used the basic "Ken Burns' setting. However, on some of the photos I tried to amend the scanning to zoom into particular faces or parts of the photo. When I played the slideshow in iPhoto, these amended photos were exactly as I wanted, but after 'sharing' it and viewing it in iDVD, those photos I had altered were 'frozen' and the Ken Burns effect did not work at all, neither the automatic version, nor the specific way I had set it. All the other photos still had the Ken Burns effect as expected. I am using iPhoto 11, 9.1.5, I haven't had this problem in the past.
If you have any ideas why this should have happened I'd be grateful.

I have created a slideshow in iPhoto 08 and want to have all of the slides use the ken burns effect except the first one (i want this to be a 20 second title photo). To get this to work, i have disabled the Automatic Ken Burns effect in the settings menu and then clicked the Ken Burns checkbox in all of the photos from the second one onwards. Even with these checkboxes selected, the photos just stay still and the ken burns effect does not work. Am i going about this the wrong way?
Any ideas appreciated.

I believe that if you do not use the automatic ken burns effect you need to set the effect for each photo - pick one or two and with the KB slider to the left set the view for the beginning photos and then slide the slider to the right and set the end view - then it will transition between those two (I'm thinking that you can turn auto automatic and override it for just the first slide by making the start and end the same so the transition does not really do anything

Pioneer Blue ray burner does not work in a Mavericks.

MY Pioneer Blu Ray burner BRD-RW 206D does not work and I get this message (The disc can’t be used because the disc drive is not supported (error code 0x80020025). I have the last firm ware update in it. It worked fine in Mountain Lion but not in Mavericks.

just wanted to report I've been successfully using my Pioneer BDR-208D for a couple of days now with no further problems.
I power-cycled and put to sleep the MacPro a few times, and burned a few DVDs and a couple of BD-RE disks.
So, to summarize my experience:
Pioneer BDR-208DBK in second (lower) bay
Mavericks on Mac Pro (early 2008)
Superdrive in upper bay
Drive not appearing in eject menu button, alt-eject on keyboard
dialog pop-up: "The disc can’t be used because the disc drive is not supported (error code 0x80020025)".
What I did:
Booted back into Lion
Inserted non-blank media in the BD drive (a CD in my case)
Rebooted into Mavericks with the CD still inside the drive
System found the drive and enable eject both on keyboard and menu
Disabled "Put hard disks to sleep..." in Energy Saver prefpane - this is what I believe stopped the seemingly random disappearing of the drive

Windows Burned CDs not readable

Can someone help me figure out why my Burned CDs won't work on my mac if they were burned with Nero 6 for Windows (I burned several CDs on my PC and when they are inserted in my iBook, three minutes later, they get ejected!) I am wondering how I can fix this, because I also seem to have a problem being able to burn CDs from the finder as well (blank CDs don't show up in the finder, and disk utility says that I am unable to burn CDs, but I have been able to burn them 2 months ago!) please help me out if you know what is going on! I am really frustrated about this!

Awhile back, there was an issue with the combo drives that were shipped in the iBook G4's, so it is possible that your experiencing the same failure. Have you tried using CDs that have been burned on a different PC? Will the drive read "normal" CDs? (store-bought music, or retail game CDs) Can you boot off of the OS X install CDs that came with your iBook? If you can boot off the OS X CD, try running Apple Hardware Test. If that comes back ok, run disk first aid, and repair permissions (repair permissions 2-3x in a row). If none of that works, call Apple Support. If you were able to boot off the Mac OS X CD, you might try backing up all pertnint info onto your external HD, and reinstall the System Software.

Disc burner did not work

since i have updated my imac fom 10.3.7 to 10.4.7 it is not possible to burn discs. i don´t know why and i am not very good in mac knowledge. all the time i try to burn the error number 0*8002006D is shown. ans the system says that the burner can not calibrate, because it needs higher energy.

Hello Wade,
the problem seems to be the audio. Give us a little more info on what audio you used in the iMovie project (original audio, music, MP3, Aiff...).
Also: what audio setting does your camcorder have? Should be 16-bit, 12-bit is a big no-no with iDVD, see this thread:

12 hours seem a long time to encode 45 min of video ... your mac should be able to do that in 4-5 hours max. I would suggest you convert all MP3 audio to AIFF before importing to iM.
If your original audio is 12-bit you can try to export the whole audio (original & music) via QT using the audio only option with 24-bit Integer, then re-import into iM.
Get the latest QT update, if you haven't done so already.
Also do some basic iDVD troubleshooting:
1. free some space on the startup drive (15-20GB recommended)
2. Trash preferences (com.apple.iDVD.plist) and empty trash
3. Repair Disk Permissions using Disk Utility
4. Clear Cache Files (Tools: CacheOutX, Onyx)

Third attempt burn to disc image. end up with two folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. the audio folder is empty. no image
the AUDIO_TS folder being empty is perfectly normal for Video DVDs, only music DVDs have audio in that folder

Ken Burns slideshow not working in IE6

Works fine in other browsers tested. Error says "expected
identifier, string or number" line 39.

2 users on same iMac; 2 different iTunes; burned CDs not appearing in iTunes

My wife and I have an iMac 27", and we have our own users set up; however, we wish to share iTunes music library with each other. (She syncs her iPhone with her user signon, and I sync my iPhone with my user signon.) The songs we wish to share are all CDs that have been burned into iTunes using my user signon. The songs show up in my iTunes; however, they do not show up with her signon. Is this possible, or does that go against piracy laws?
I currently have iTunes in a public (shared) folder; however, this does not seem to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Burned DVDs not working on MacBookPro

Hello - I have authored and burned discs in DVD SP, and they all play fine on my DVD player on my TV set, but are not playing on my MacBook Pro. I put the disc in after Disk Utility shows it's been burned successfully, and after a few 'tries', it pops out, never even mounting on the computer.
A commercial DVD works just fine on my computer, but none of the recent discs I've burned, yet ones I've burned from the same pack earlier, burned fine... thanks so much!

Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

Burning does not work

Everytime I attempt to burn a CD iTunes either does not burn the CD and responds with a message that says that the CD cannot be recognized (or something to that effect.)
I followed the suggestions on the iTunes support page which included switching to "data-disc" and lowering the burn speed to 2x. After doing so, the CD did in fact burn, but now will not play on a single CD player. Is the problem the blank CDs, or something else? I've already ruined countless CDs attempting to burn the same playlist, and nothing has worked...Thanks.

On a CD player the discs appear to be blank, but when put into my computer they show up on iTunes as having music on them.
Oh. That's a different problem.
Go to your iTunes preference file (iTunes Menu) and select Advanced>Burning. Audio CD ought to be checked. It sounds like you may have checked "MP3 CD" or "Data CD". MP3 can be read by the more recent Audio Players. "Data CD" cannot be read by Audio Players. Regardless, you want "audio Cd".
Please post back with results.

Satellite C850 - 1KN CD burner is not working

Hi,
I've been trying to burn some CD's on my Satellite C850 - 1KN with Windows 8 64bit and each time I try it will finish burning the CD with no error message or apparent problems but then when trying to play back the CD on the laptop or other device it's read as a blank disc.
Have tried burning using Itunes, Nero and Windows Media player, all with the same result.
I've also tried using Verbatim and Maxell blank CD's with no change in results.
I should also add that the CD drive does work as it will play other CD's.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Are you able to create data CDs or DVDs?
I guess you tried to write music data (possibly mp3, mp4 files) on a CD but try to write simple document files on a DVD or CD.
Ensure also that the write session has been closed after finishing the disk burning.
Another tip:
I would also recommend testing disks from another and different manufacturers.
You uses Verbatim and Maxwell, both are great disks but the key is the combination of disk and optical disk drive so even if others were able to use such disk using another optical disk drive, this does not mean that such disk would be fully compatible with your ODD. How about TDK R CD/DVD?
Test it!

BURN - Sourceforge - Not Working on New Macbook Pro

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on getting this to work?
I just purchased a new Macbook Pro 2012, and using TDK Double Layer 8.5 gb disks DVDs.
I took an mp4 and used their s-ware. It converted it to mpg after I selected VIDEO and NTSC, DVD-Video in drop down box.
When I hit burn, I get box that selects SUPERDRIVE AND MAX SPEED 4x. I hit burn.
1) Get message that says authoring DVD - runs it's course
2) Then I get a message that says "Not enough space" Try anyway. The movie is only 40 minutes long and low quality. 8 gig's is more than enough space. (Blank DVD).
3) I click BURN anyways.
4) Disk sounds as if something is happening
5) Message "Burning "Untitled" - Writing Track (with countdown)
6) Then I get a pop up window that says 'YOU INSERTED A BLANK DVD. Choose an action from the pop up menu or click ignore. I click ignore.
That's it. I eject the DVD and try to play, but it is still blank.
Advice? Suggestions?

Install logs were fine. Application installed but wouldn't run properly. Finally got Adobe support and it turns out to be a file permissions error. Had to add both applications and myself as accessors of Lightroom folder under path ~/Library/Adobe/ and set permissions to read & write (was read only for everything but system) and apply to all enclosed folders. Runs fine now. Including this here in case anyone else runs across this issue.
