Burning does not work

Everytime I attempt to burn a CD iTunes either does not burn the CD and responds with a message that says that the CD cannot be recognized (or something to that effect.)
I followed the suggestions on the iTunes support page which included switching to "data-disc" and lowering the burn speed to 2x. After doing so, the CD did in fact burn, but now will not play on a single CD player. Is the problem the blank CDs, or something else? I've already ruined countless CDs attempting to burn the same playlist, and nothing has worked...Thanks.

On a CD player the discs appear to be blank, but when put into my computer they show up on iTunes as having music on them.
Oh. That's a different problem.
Go to your iTunes preference file (iTunes Menu) and select Advanced>Burning. Audio CD ought to be checked. It sounds like you may have checked "MP3 CD" or "Data CD". MP3 can be read by the more recent Audio Players. "Data CD" cannot be read by Audio Players. Regardless, you want "audio Cd".

just wanted to report I've been successfully using my Pioneer BDR-208D for a couple of days now with no further problems.
I power-cycled and put to sleep the MacPro a few times, and burned a few DVDs and a couple of BD-RE disks.
So, to summarize my experience:
Pioneer BDR-208DBK in second (lower) bay
Mavericks on Mac Pro (early 2008)
Superdrive in upper bay
Drive not appearing in eject menu button, alt-eject on keyboard
dialog pop-up: "The disc can’t be used because the disc drive is not supported (error code 0x80020025)".
What I did:
Booted back into Lion
Inserted non-blank media in the BD drive (a CD in my case)
Rebooted into Mavericks with the CD still inside the drive
System found the drive and enable eject both on keyboard and menu
Disabled "Put hard disks to sleep..." in Energy Saver prefpane - this is what I believe stopped the seemingly random disappearing of the drive

Using Ilife 11 shared imovie burning does not work

The process gets stuck during burning and will not finish, stayed at 1 minute for 24 hours

I can not burn any cd's or dvd's, music, movies, or back up files of any sort. I have the latest of every software update. The problem been since the itunes 6.0 update. I've read all the long list of do's and dont's. I've done all the do's and some of the dont's and still nothing. Everything about the superdrive combo burner says its compatable and up and running. When I try to burn a music cd it says the burner cant be found or recover or unable to retry. Well its something to that affect. Do I have a trashy unit now or what?? I have had no problems burning cd's before these so called itunes easier to use updates.

Yes, you do it in iTunes, which will convert the music from MP3 files that are the things stored in the music folder, to ordinary audio.
If you collect together the tracks you want to copy to an audio CD into a playlist in iTunes, and make sure each one has the little 'tick' mark next to the track name, then click the 'Burn Disc' button on the top right corner of the iTunes window, you'll be prompted to insert a blank CD, and when that's in the drive, the burn process will start. The resulting CD will be titled with the name of the playlist, and the tracks will play in the order they were listed in iTunes.

My LG40 DVD burner does not work with iMac. Pls advice

It is a portable DVD writer. According to LG system requirements are Windows 7 or Mac X v10.54 or higher. Can´t open files burnt on my old Mac and not possible to burn files from iMac.

You need to supply your own burning software for your iMac to burn discs from your new external optical drive.
Since Apple doesn't integrate optical drives into many of their Mac models any longer, Apple doesn't supply any type of disc burning software any longer.
Older versions of the iLife suite of apps (iLife '09 or '11) have a compatible version of iDVD.
You would need to purchase either of these.
Another purchased CD/DVD burning software is Roxio Toast.
OR there is the free, open source optical disc burning software, Burn.

Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys.
If the hardware has filed there's nothing anyone here can do to help you ...

Windows Vista and iTunes does not work

First Time sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany and my English is not the best.
I have the new Windows Vista but iTunes does not work good.
And I have to use it, to manage my music on my iPod.
When there will be a Vista compatibles Version of iTunes??
And when will come an 64-Bit Version?

iTunes running under VISTA does not recognize media burned by iTunes Backup (v7.0.2) from a non-Vista machine.
The original machine recognizes the media just fine, but the new VISTA machine does not recognize the dvd at all.
Anyone else having a problem with VISTA recognizing burnt media?

Satellite P105 mat****a dvd drive does not work with Win 7

I need an upgrade on my dvd for my vintage Satellite P105.
I want the fastest dvd burner possible at this time because I am a movie fan and keep them in digital storage.
1) First should I go get an external drive or can I get top performance with an internal dvd replacement from a parts dealer or Toshiba?
The problem is when I upgraded to windows 7 things changed. I lost my sound but solved that by using a legacy driver for Visa as apparently the sound "board" on the laptop is made for only Vista. Next I found the dvd drive which is a mitsu****a UJ-450s internal does not work or is extremely slow in backing up movies from discs or files. The available burner software also seems intended for Vista as performance was acceptable then. Even the dvd burner software does not work.
2) So, my question to the mavens of multimedia is: What should be my next move?
3) Should I go external and face the USB bottle neck or
4) go for the bus speed on the internal dvd?
5) Given that an internal dvd is better as it is exactly a dvd-ram/IDE as it currently is, or some other bus configuration.
6) Most importantly, what dvd burner would give me 18x speed with current software like ConvertXtoDVD and fit as an external or -- better -- as an internal dvd replacement or my slow drive currently?
Of course, if you could give me a model number and direct me to sales it would be much appreciated.

Dvd player does not work after Leopard upgrade

I installed Leopard, had to upgrade because my printer died and no printers now work with Tiger. Since the upgrade, my DVD player does not work. I have problems burning some cd's too. Is this a known issue? What is the fix?

I have read a couple of complaints like that, but not sure it's widespread.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
If that does NOT help, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
If that does NOT help then I suspect the optical drive or media itself, or possibly just needs a cleaning CD run on it.

Ken Burns Effect not working as expected.

I have created a slideshow in iPhoto 08 and want to have all of the slides use the ken burns effect except the first one (i want this to be a 20 second title photo). To get this to work, i have disabled the Automatic Ken Burns effect in the settings menu and then clicked the Ken Burns checkbox in all of the photos from the second one onwards. Even with these checkboxes selected, the photos just stay still and the ken burns effect does not work. Am i going about this the wrong way?
Any ideas appreciated.

I believe that if you do not use the automatic ken burns effect you need to set the effect for each photo - pick one or two and with the KB slider to the left set the view for the beginning photos and then slide the slider to the right and set the end view - then it will transition between those two (I'm thinking that you can turn auto automatic and override it for just the first slide by making the start and end the same so the transition does not really do anything
Try that first (it is easier )

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 6178us Entertainment PC I just bought it last week. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 bits.
The problem I have is that yesterday I install Skype in the computer and realized that the HP TrueVision HD web cam does not work. The light right next to the web cam will light up but no image will appear on the screen.
I have checked the software that I have in the computer for the webcam and the program is CyberLink YouCam BE version 3.5.
But the web cam does not work. The light right next to it will turn on when I activate Cyberlink, Skype or Messenger but no actual image will come out in computer screen. The computer is fully updated BIOS, Windows 7 and HP.
But the web cam is not working. Could you help me fix this problem?

I have a pavilion dv6 notepad. it's about a year old.
about a month ago internal webcam truevision hd stop working.
Called hp tech. they sent a box for me to ship the laptop.
they hp tech attempted to correct the problem via internet
did not work.
wanted me to do a restore to factory setting i stopped him there.
Webcam detected in device manager.
the webcam light come on but no image.
I actually see the back drop through the image space.
running windows 7, fully updated.
I found many comments on the web about the webcam connector disconnecting.
But if it was the case with my computer, the webcam would not be detected.
Many other comments suggests to do a restore to factory setting but \i read also that
does not work often.
I read many comments where disappointed clients believe hp should update
the software but the driver is actually microsoft dating back to june 2006.
Is it possible it's a hardware problem, ie webcam is burned out.
I have received a box to sent it and know they will do a system restore.
Don't feel to go that way.
Many comments refers to hp making an effort to get a driver update.
ps I decided to purchase a logitech webcam, works perfectly.
What else can I do to fix this problem.
Can hp send me another internal webcam.

Once downloaded the Window7 setup you then want to download the windows free burning app from the same thread.
Also visit the Microsoft website link below as has basic guidance that may help you.

Basically with the Windows free burning app you can make either a USB boot stick media of windows 7 or a good older fashioned DVD boot media. Installed Premiere Pro CS4 but video display does not work?

I just got my copy of CS$. After installing Premiere I found two things that seem very wrong:
1) video display does not work, not even the little playback viewer next to improted film clips located on the project / sequence window. Audio works fine.
2) the UI is way too slow for my big beefy system.
My pc is a dual boot Vista-32 and XP system with 4GB of memory installed and nvidia geforce 280 graphics board with plenty of GPU power. The CS4 is installed on the Vista-32 partition. My windows XP partition on the same PC with Premiere CS2 works great and real fast.
Any ideas how to solve this CS4 install issue?

The problem is now very clear to me. The problem only shows up with video footage imported into PP CS4 encoded with "MS Video 1" codec. So this seems to be a bug. The codec is very clearly called out and supported within various menues but video with this codec just will not play in any monitor or preview window. In addition the entire product looks horrible with respect to performance while PP CS4 trys its best to play the video. Audio will start playing after about 30 seconds. And once in awhile part of video shows up at the wrong magnification before blanking out again.
My suggestion to the Adobe team: fix the bug and add some sample footage to the next release so new installations can test their systems with known footage.
