Burning eror..?? please help

Hello,
For the last few weeks my Imac can not burn..
It is starting to burn and after a while I get an eror saying : ' The recording device reported the hardware error: Peripheral device write fault. (0x03, 0x00.)'
the computer is burning on the DVD but stopping and can not be played..
I tried also idvd which didn't work..
please help,
thanks

First off, let me say in my own experience I have found almost any media brand of CD to be fine... EXCEPT for Memorex. Of the few problems I have had over the years, they always seem to be memorex. Anyway...
So are you using a DVD blank or a CDR blank? You called it a "DVD+R blank CD's" which isn't clear as to which you are using.
If you are using a DVD blank and it is indeed +R (and not -R) media, are you sure your drive supports +R media? Some older Superdrives do not. Which Mac do you have?

I have created a project, a DVD with menus and subtitles in 2 languages, yet when I burn the DVD (both using build/format option and build format options separately)the resulting DVD has no main menu, actually it has no menus at all! it goes straight into the DVD film where I can change subtitles language only from the remote buttons. DOES ANYONE PLEASE KNOW THE REASON FOR THIS???? AND HOW TO SOLVE IT???? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...HAVE TO SEND THIS PROJECT OFF SOON.
I have burned another project with menus succesfully..

    Hi
FIRST check that your Play Movie button in your menu has NOT an Auto Action selected that make it plays automatically your movie when the Menu loads. You'll find that setting in the Advanced tab of Inspector. If not . . .
You can try a workaround, no matter that if you have your Menu as First Play it must work. Try yhis:
    - Create a simple black JPG file i.e. in Photoshop
    - Create a Slideshow
    - Add a the JPG to the slideshow, set duration 2 secs
    - Set the Slideshow as First Play
    - Set Slideshow End Jump to your Main Menu
    Build and burn again.

  • DVDSP 4.0.3 crashes on Burn. Please Help!

I using FCP 5.0.4 and DVDSP 4.0.3. Burning discs has never been a problem (exporting from FCP via compressor to video .m2v and audio .ac3).
Now, after I've assembled my project in DVDSP (buttons, track linking etc) and I press the burn button (which I've done successfully many, many times) the program crashes.
I've tried burning with toast but found this to produce unacceptable results.
I've tried deleteing prefs, running disk utility, creating different projects etc but it still crashes on burn.
The only solution seems to be to make a disc image in DVDSP and burn it with disk utility.
Please help as this seems to make DVDSP not fit for the purpose. Is this an issue with the 10.5.6 update? Will it be fixed with 10.5.7?
Or do I have to go out a shell £3000 for a new machine and Final Studio 2?
I have some important projects that use about 60 tracks to finish so I really need a solution to this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • IDVD is giving an error during multiplexing or it will force close while burning. Please help!

I've been using iDVD to burn videos for awhile now. This time around it is either force closing while burning or near the end it gives a error while multiplexing and will not continue. Is there something I can do to fix this? Or another program I can use to burn the videos to DVD.

Read Bengt Wärleby's post in this topic for possible causes: Multiplexing Error: Apple Support Communities.
Also follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • 'Access denied' when attempting to build/burn DVD, please help, urgent/desperate!

Recently bought CS3, overjoyed with most of it. Encore is giving me serious trouble though at the moment! The problem is that it simply will not burn to a dual layer disc! When we try to burn it to disc it begins the process, wizzing through different elements, then when it gets to 'sorting files'it stops with the message 'Access Denied' If we split the Wedding video in half it will burn to a standard DVD, but it will not burn to dual layer. We installed an additional, external writer in case the problem was with the hardware, but again it would not burn to dual layer. We attempted to build the dvd as an 'image' to the harddrive to then burn to dual layer through nero. This worked for a much smaller file, but when we tried to burn the larger file to the harddrive as an Image, 'Access Denied'!! We've tried everything we can think of, ...but if anyone else can think of a way to fix this, please let us know as we are in the final stages of the video project for a client and simply cannot get the project onto disc! When we 'check project', there are no errors listed. We've tried transcoding it to 7gb 1pass, and importing it from Premire pro without transcoding it, thereby letting Encore set the settings, but no joy. Thanks, Justin.

Rather than disabling UAC (or turning it down in Win7), just run Encore as Administrator.  Right-click, and select Run As Administrator.  Works fine for me in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  Doing it this way you still get the benefits of UAC.

  • Burning question please help!

I am trying to burn a wedding DVD and have done this many times before without problem. Now, I continuously get a media error at stage 4. I switched media, (was using a cheaper, printable brand) to use an apple disk...which worked once. I am trying to burn additional copies on apple disk's and we are now back to the media error. I have a few questions...I have 26 GB of memory available. Is this enough? Is this why I am having the media problem that I have not had before? I am not sure why I don't have more space as I have always had about 36 GB's available. I am desperately trying to find files to delete to give me more space, but am having no luck...and don't want to delete the wrong files. Any ideas on how to find what is taking so much space that I can get rid of? Thanks in advance for any help.

I suggest you get the free download Mac Sweeper which you will find on http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Mac-Sweeper.shtml
Also try using the Easter Egg workaround to burn a disc image which can then be burnt to a DVD-R using Disk Utility.
It is also called "Hurz and Pfurz", and is available as a free download from
    http://homepage.mac.com/geerlingguy/macsupport/mac_help/pages/0015-burn_idvdother.html
    iDVD5 has this built in.
Now I would recommend the following steps but first make sure there is about 20GB free on the internal HD:
    1) Shut down/Restart without any applications running.
    2) Run Mac Sweeper carrying out all the optimize options including repair permissions and, under clean, empty caches.
    3) Launch iDVD and the project
    4) "Burn" a copy to disc to hard disc using the Easter Egg workaround.
    5) Go to bed and have a good night's sleep.
    6) When the run is finished (always for me 1 hour in less than 8 hours) examine the DVD image and play it using the DVD player in the applications folder
    7) If and when satisfied and burn a copy using Disc Utility, full instructions on
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42724
but you just use the second half to burn the DVD.
This approach means you can readily produce multiple copies. I have taken to burning the DVD without any other applications running as I think too much going on may cause bad spots on the disc.

  • Problems burning CD - please help!

I'm going crazy trying to burn a CD from a playlist. It starts off looking like it's going to work (checks media, playlist, initializes ...), but then when it gets to the writing stage, the process is cancelled with an unknown error (4880).
I've reviewed the disk drive and IDE/ATA controllers (both of which I know nothing about, but various help pages seem to suggest these could be the problem) in my device manager, and they all seem to be up to date. (At least, that's what it says when I try to update them.)

  • I keep getting an Error 4260 when trying to burn a CD-R from Itunes... PLEASE HELP!

I have been trying to burn a CD-R at a slower speed but everytime I do so it comes up with Error 4260 and spits it out.  I have tried a system reload and still can't get it fixed.  I am trying to burn it at a slower speed b/c the CD will not play in my car at the higher speed.  Please help!

Well it probably means exactly what it says... How much free space is there on your hard drive where the iTunes Media folder resides? I believe there is also an obscure bug that can occur when software doesn't read the true value of the free space properly, and the workaround is, perversely, to duplicate some content so that with less actual free space the software in question perceives it as more. I've no idea if iTunes is affected by such a bug.
