Burning from iTunes 6

I have a 4th gen iPod, but using iTunes 6 with XP because my mom has the iPod video. How can I burn from iTunes? I can't seem to select the "Burn to Playlist to Disc" button. Oh, and if the song was deleted from the hard drive but still in the iTunes library, could it still be burned? Kindly advise. Thanks.

Oh, and if the song was deleted from the hard drive but still in the iTunes library, - I could be wrong, but if the song was deleted from the Hard Drive, where can the song be stored?

  • Drive will not burn from itunes keep getting error...

Hi. When i try to burn from itunes i keep getting error " Attempt to burn to disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
I have looked this up and seems to be a problem for a lot of people yet apple seem to be ignoring it from what i have read. I have reset ram it worked once but never since even after resetting it again. So any ideas. Checked for updates noting. This is realy annoying now and i am losing faith in something i like. So apple get of your arse and sort this problem out.
    Cheers

    Hi martin wells1!
Rather than blaming Apple engineers, have you contacted support to arrange service on the machine? Hardware problems, traditionally, don't fix themselves. But that's where technicians come into play as a means to resolve those hardware problems.
If you get a "check engine light" in your vehicle, do you just drive around and wait for it to be fixed saying: "Man, I wish <insert car manufacturer> would fix my check engine light problem tonight."
I've encountered a similar error message on one (of many) MacBooks that I've come across recently, a service call later and a replacement optical drive... problem resolved.

  • Disabling Autorun so I can burn from ITunes.

When I put a blank CD in my drive it automatically puts an "autorun" file on it. When I try to burn from ITunes it either says the drive is in use by another application or it says the cd is not blank. It has something to do with Roxio since the tab of the file often says Roxio. I have uninstalled Roxio from my computer, I have deleted all files with the word Roxio or autorun in its name and it doesn't solve the problem. I also have made ITunes my default media player. So what should I do now?

I am not sure about this, and I don't want to worry you, but there is an autorun worm that spreads via autoruns on removable media.
I think up to date security software should detect and remove it, so is your security software up to date?
It might be worth running a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Something else you could do is to open one of these autorun files with notepad and have a look. I don't know what the autorun puts in the file, but you might see something that looks odd.
You could also look to see if the CD contains any hidden files.
There is a Microsoft article on disabling autorun, but that stops it being executed rather than stopping the file being created.

  • Burning from iTunes

I'm new and confused. I recently bought an album from iTunes. I decided to burn to a cd to play in my car but it is evidently 'protected'. How can I burn to a cd to be able to play in my car?

Under the burn options [Edit | Preferences... | Advanced | Burning], make sure the burn type is set to Audio CD and not to MP3 CD (won't work with iTMS songs) or Data CD (tracks are still protected). Then burn as you would any other playlist: create the list of songs, check the songs you want burned, then insert a blank disc and hit Burn CD.

  • Burning from iTunes to Toast

I am using iTunes 6 and Toast Titanium 8.
Is there a way to transfer a folder of tunes from iTunes and burn it on Toast.
I have never been successful if I drag the folder from iTunes as I think all I am getting are the titles and not the actual songs.
I believe this is because the actual music is kept in the Music folder in the Finder.
It's too time consuming to go into the Music folder and try to find the songs so I'm hoping there is a better way.
    Thanks

You don‘t need to transfer anything from iTunes to use Toast.
Click Audio CD, click the blue arrow at the top left next to Audio CD, which slides out a pane on the side, select Media, select iTunes in the drop down box and select the songs from iTunes.

  • Audio CD burned from iTunes repetitively plays track 1

I burned several audio CD's from iTunes 7. When I play it on my home stereo and car stereo, it replays the first track endlessly unless I manually advance to the next song. I burned three CD's with the same result (changing the song intervals). Any ideas?? I think its kind of odd...

    I was using CD-R's, though I will try a CD-RW. Yes,
I definitely chose buring an audio CD (not MP3 etc).
I called Apple about it (iTunes support was entirely
unhelpful) and they hadn't heard of this problem
either. I'll post the CD-RW result. Thanks for
    your thoughts!
No, don't use CD-RW's for your test, use different CD-Rs, some cheaper cd-rs are notoriously flaky, or you might have a bad batch of good cd-rs. You might also try slowing your burning speed down and see if that helps.

  • CDs burned from iTunes don't play in CD player.

This is a relatively new issue - I've never had this problem before. They appear to burn correctly. Sometimes the CD player will correctly identify the number of tracks but when I hit play the CDs just spin around without playing. Other times it the CD player will not recognize the CD at all. I thought it was the CD player but older CDs play fine. And it's not the CDs; I've tried two different brands. I think the problem is in the "initializing" phase which used to last for perhaps ten seconds and now lasts for perhaps two seconds before burning starts. Anybody else ever have this issue?

    Hello frb522,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning disc burning issues:

  • Cannot play cd after burning from iTunes

When I burn a playlist from my iTunes library onto a CD, it will not play on my Sony CD player? Is there anything I am doing wrong?

Insert the CD. In iTunes, select teh CD then right click - get info.
This will change the name of that CD in iTunes and on the desktop.
it mean that I have to remember what I want the CD to be called when I create the playlist
    Yes.
    to export
You don't export the playlist anywhere. Just click Burn.
and make sure I've named the playlist what I want the CD to be called?
    Yes.

an upgrade to iTunes 7.2.0.35 might be worth a try. the itunes versions 7.1.x and 7.2.x have a newer version of the CD Driver DLL (2.0.6.2) than the 7.0.2.16 that you've got.
since it's a custom-built PC, we check the sites of the manufacturers of the individual components to see if there are any updates to those components. there does seem to be a newer version of the firmware (R1.04) available for your AOPEN CRW5232/AAO PRO at AOPEN. i've been assuming (based on your alias) that you're located in Australia, so i was searching in the Asia/Pacific parts of their website for firmware upgrades. if you're not in Australia, it might be worth checking through the correct region, just in case AOPEN has regional differences in their firmware offerings.
in the three fields on this page, select "CDRW drives", "CRW5232/AAO PRO", and "Firmware" to see the firmware offerings for the drive:
    AOPEN Asia
with other componentry, check in at ABIT to see if there are any chipset driver or BIOS upgrades available for the motherboard:
    http://www2.abit.com.tw/
... and it would be good to see if there are any updates available for your video card at ATI. for additional information on checking on that, see:

  • Can't get rid of old iomega burner from iTunes burner list

Hi there. I'm running itunes on 10.3.9 on a CRT iMac.
I used to have a USB iomega cd burner, but now have a Formac Divideon Firewire DVD burner.
iTunes seems to think the iomega is still plugged in, although it's not, and won't show up my formac burner in the preferences.
So, I deleted itunes, tried to re-install it, and now the installer says it's already installed, so won't install it again!
    Any advice anyone?!

    PLEASE SOME ONE!
This is driving me nuts. How do I make iTunes forget about the burner that is no longer there?
There must be some way of resetting the ports or something.
I have re-installed iTunes and it is still mistaking my new burner for an old one, thereby preventing me from burning anything. I have run disk permission repairs, hard plugged the new burner in both firewire slots and deleted anything to do with iomega.
    What to do??

  • Buzzing or zapping sound burning from itunes...help please.

I have updated itunes to 7.6 and updated my firmware to no avail. I still have this buzzing or zapping sound within my music when I burn CD's from my playlists. I have successfully burned using other software. Looks like a common problem, any suggestions would help a lot of people. It is occuring in both purchased music and imported music. Thanks in advance.

  • Playing Music Burned From iTunes To CD Audio

I have burned a bunch of audio CD's with my iTunes Music and they played perfectly for a few months and now they are starting to skip and lose track in any standard CD player. They play fine in iTunes though! Anybody have this problem?

Have had this happen on my daughter macbook; previously able to burn without issues, now since updating OS and iTunes, get the same thing. No answers from Apple or boards. Almost has to be software issue since I was able to burn data onto a CD and read it on my PowerBook.
I did check the suggestion given on this post about making sure the audio was checked in iTunes and it was...that doesn't seem to be the issue here.

  • HT203164 how do i get track names transferred to CD burned from itunes?

teh equestion has it all - if i burn playlists I gte track 1, 2 etc and not names from playlists

It still is simple, but as always you get the track names before you import the CD.  iTunes has a preference setting so it will always do that or you can re-identify a CD using a menu item (see below).  Once they are imported there is no way in iTunes to get the identification service to work.  There are third party services that work outside of iTunes but for a single CD it is easier to just reimport the whole thing after correctly identifying first.

What are all those iTunes files? - http://www.macworld.com/article/139974/2009/04/itunes_files.html - "iTunes Library Extras.itdb contains some Gracenote CDDB information."
To re-identify an incorrectly identified CD: "Insert the CD and select it in iTunes, then menu Advanced > Get CD track names. It should requery the Gracenote database and let you pick the correct album." - https://discussions.apple.com/message/18901866 - Newer versions in upper right hand corner, Options>Get Track Names
