Burning iTunes selections from bought iStore files

iTunes will not recognise that I have a functional, internal cd/dvd burner. It gives the message 'disc burner or software not found'. I installed an internal Pioneer cd/dvd burner a month ago and it works in all other respects, using Toast. Any ideas how to point iTunes at this burner?

It just says 'no supported burners found' in the preferences>advanced>burn panel. It should surely recognize the internal drive shouldn't it? Can I somehow point it to the drive? Or can I burn an audio cd using Toast? I've tried, but although it burns the disk and there are clearly two tracks there (all players tried list the tracks) there is no sound when the countdown starts. Any suggestions?
Thanks for replying; I've made a note of the extra software and will try it once I've exhausted option within the system I've got. Cheers

  • Restoring iTunes library from backed-up files

How should I go about restoring my iTunes files from a backup?
I used to keep all of my iTunes media files (i.e., music, video, etc) on an external hard drive, using the Preferences:Advanced:iTunes Music Folder Location setting. My external hard drive has completely died (sidenote: never trust LaCie!), but thankfully, I made a backup by copying the directory tree onto a second drive. The second drive is now attached, but, of course, my songs still generate "file not found" errors. I have way too many songs to manually find each one... but I don't want to lose playlist and playcount information...
How should I go about mass "re-linking" the files on the backup disk to my iTunes database, so that I can then change my library location and "consolidate" all the files onto my internal hard drive?
Has anyone done this successfully? I'd appreciate some guidance!
    Thanks!

In case anyone has the same problem, here was the best fix I found:
Basically, you copy the files into the directories where iTunes is looking for them:
    1. Pick a few grayed-out songs in iTunes and open the song properties. Look for the song filename, paying particular attention. After a few, you should see a pattern, indicating where iTunes is looking for the files based on the song/artist/album name.
    2. Just copy the backed-up files to the locations where iTunes is expecting to find them. With luck (and particularly if your backup was recent), the pattern should be the same as the pattern in your backup, so you'll probably just have to drag files only once.
    3. Now double-click on a grayed-out song (that has had its file moved into the folder where iTunes is looking for it) and it should start playing and stop being grayed out.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • Any way of restoring iTunes selections from iPhone back to hard drive?

First, I have been in a series of PC-like disasters ever since I installed Leopard at Christmas--to the point where I've actually given up any hope of getting my data back--and I can only blame this on synching problems between my iPhone, Mac Mini, and iDisk. Given that I am probably to blame; nevertheless, I'm frustrated, angry, and disappointed with Apple.
Having said that, I have my (very expensive) iTunes collection ON my iPhone, but Apple says that I cannot restore it to my Mac Mini, only the other way around.
Does anyone know of any way around this? It does not seem fair, reasonable, or even friendly that I can't take my thousands of UK £££ music and restore it back to my desktop!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    -- Mark

For the series of PC-like disasters regardless where the blame lies for a particular problem or problems, is the reason for maintaining a backup - with multiple backups for the most important data such as iTunes purchased content.
That being said, iTunes includes an option to transfer content purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone. This is for content purchased from the iTunes Store only.

  • Imovie09 Burning to DVD from HD project file

I have just burnt a HD edited imovie project file to a DVD using the 'large settings' in IDVD after exporting to media browser. The results when played on a DVD player are extremely low quality. There appears to be a considerable patterning affect on the pictures. The same poor quality is apparent when playing the DVD on the macbook. Playing the AVCHD project in Imovie is fine. Can anyone help with this, or experienced the same problem? I have just upgraded to Snow leopard, and have produced DVDs before using Leopard and Imovie with the same settings. Thanks

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • Dynamic Link (Adobe Premiere Pro to Encore) issues with burning a DVD from the project file

    Hello,
I am running Adobe Suite CS 5.1 on my Mac:
    2.8 GHz Quad Core
    6GB Memory
I've been having issues with a few projects; using Dynamic Link, directly from my project in Premier, to send them to Encore:
When attempting to burn a DVD, Encore will 'hang up' and not burn; I rarely burn to DVD, usually I'm always encoding for web, and just always use the 'default settings' in Encore.
    A few things to note:
*In my project I'm using MOV files, from a Canon 7D, and MP4 files, from a Sony EX-1.
*I am working off of 3 separate hard drives; very large projects with over 5TBs of media files.
*I noticed that after inserting a DVD, it caused one of my hard drives to eject; this happened once, as far as I know.
*This only happens when I use Dynamic Link to send to Encore, via my Premiere Pro project file.
*My Project settings are always: XDCam HD-1080p/24p
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Stop iTunes 11 From Numbering Ripped Files

In previous versions of iTunes you could prevent iTunes from automatically numbering ripped files. iTunes 11 continues to number ripped files and I can't find a way to stop this behavior. Anyone out there figure this out already? It's a real PITA to have to edit files individually to remove these track numbers in the file name.

Thanks very much for your reply. I'm not ripping music but rather audiobook CDs which I then use Audiobook Builder to create audiobooks I can "read" on my iDevice. On the odd occasion iTunes will "recognize" the audiobook CD and offer to import metadata for it ... which is almost always incorrect. Thus, I usually decline the metadata import and enter the appropriate and correct metadata via Get Info. Then, when I import the files from the CD, iTunes automatically numbers each file ahead of the file title. I was previously able to disable this behavior but I can't find any way to do so in iTunes 11.2.1. Some have said TinkerTool used to provide this feature but no longer does. I don't know if TinkerTool has a Mavericks-compatible version - I'll have to check that out. If not, then I'm still trying to find a way to disable automatic track numbering in iTunes when ripping audiobook CDs. Thanks again for your reply ... I 'preciate it.

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple does not respond to posts here. You can give Apple your feedback on the Feedback page:

They don't respond directly there, either. And once you post something here, people will comment as they see fit, regardless of what you originally hoped for. That's just the way it is with a public forum.
Try Groove for iPad. People seem to think it's a great replacement to the previous music app.

  • Is there any way to move loads of mails from the "sent" file to trash, or does it have to be one by one ?

    Mail .
I want to delete multiple mails ( not simply a thread of mails , but a larger selection) from the "Sent " file , but it looks like you can only do it one at a time .....is that correct , or am I missing something ?

I Have had the same problem I have not figured out how to check multiples at once, I know once they are in the trash you can delete them all at once, that's the only thing that drives me crazy about the ipad, I use my surface 2 or laptop to delete a lot of mail at once, at one point my inbox went up to over 10000 emails Before I got my laptop.

  • Getting the local full path name of a file from an item File Browser

    Hi all,
I would like to get the local full path name, of a file selected from an item 'File browser'.
I see in wwv_flow_files the column 'name', but actually it's a kind of id like 'F1542335/myFile.gif' for example.
What i want is the local path of this file ("C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\....\myFile.gif").
    I hope this is possible??
    Anyway, thanks all for reading.
    Ludo

Hello, thank you for the answer.
Please understand that I searched before posting, and not ony 15 min.
What i mean is that the value of a File Browser in an Apex applocation is something like 'F1542335/myFile.gif', but what I need is the local path location.
And 'F1542335/' is not the local path location, i can't use it. Or maybe there is a way to convert it in a proper path name, such as "C:\Documents and Settings\....", but I don't think so.
So my question is : how to get the local path name of a file in Apex?
I'll answer if I find some good things.
    Thanks
    Ludo

  • Accessing Itunes account from a new computer

My computer has crashed, so I cannot access my itunes. How can I access it from another computer?

    Depends on what you mean.
You can access your account ( buy new music, etc.) by signing into your account.
If you mean accessing the music, then use your backup copy to move the music to the new computer.
You get ONE download, then it is up to you to backup your music ( incase of loss). If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( terrible idea), then you could transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:
    File>Transfer Purchases

  • Can I access iTunes music i bought previously that was on another computer?

Got a new laptop to replace my old one that was stolen and hope to get to my music files i had purhcased.

You buy one download and one download only.
Was your backup copy of your computer stolen as well?  If not, then use it to put everything back.
Otherwise, you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • HT203164 Error trying to burn a CD from an iTunes playlist - files not found on hard drive??

I have a new computer with Windows 8 Home Premium.  Before the old computer crashed, I had backed up all my iTunes Media in the cloud.  I had also purchased a soundtrack album from the iTunes store and put the songs into a playlist.  All media was matched with the new computer, and the new computer was authorized by me in iTunes, so all my previous media shows up in iTunes on the new computer.  The only symbol next to the song titles in iTunes for all my songs is a picture of a tiny cloud.
When I play the songs in the playlist from the new computer in iTunes, they all play just fine.  However, when I try to burn a CD with the songs in the playlist, I get this error message (it has no number associated with it):  The song "[name of song]" could not be burned because the file cannot be found on the computer hard drive.  I tried burning CD's from any other playlist but was not able to burn a CD from ANY playlist; I get the same error message no matter what I try to do.  I would really like to be able burn CD's from iTunes, because that's what plays in my car.  Hooking up an iPod in the car does play music, but it is faded and of bad quality (my car is an '05 model).
Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong here and how I can fix it so burning CD's in iTunes will again be an option?  I don't burn many CD's but would really like to be able to do so.  The version of iTunes I have is 11, all the iTunes files are updated, and the CD drive is working fine,  I am able to play CD's in iTunes from it and burn other songs to it using another media player.  I am also using top-quality new blank CD's, and when trying to burn a CD from a playlist, I select Audio CD with 2 seconds for the gap between songs, and the album text, then I select Burn.  I've tried selecting other options in turn, but get the same error message.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help with this issue - it seems I am the only one having it.

I actually solved this problem myself.  I discovered, while playing around with the new iTunes, that clicking on PLAYLISTS on the menu bar shows the playlists that I have created on the left side of the window (like the old iTunes used to do by default).  I scrolled down to the playlist I wanted to burn to a CD, right-clicked on it, and a menu came up.  I selected DOWNLOAD....this downloads my playlist songs from the cloud to my computer hard drive.  After that, the little "cloud pictures" next to my songs disappeared, and I was able to burn the CD with no problems.
I hope this helps someone else....I was quite lost for a while.  Which is amazing, considering how user-friendly most Apple products have historically been.

If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library
