Burning jpeg's to DVD?

I have a large number of photos that I would like to burn to a DVD that my daughter can then use on her PC.
1. Is it possible to do?
2. Will she be able to extract and work with the jpeg files on her pc?
3. If it is possible, what is the procedure and where can I find the step by step
info?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
1. Yes
2. yes
3. Select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a Folder on the desktop, then burn them using the Finder. Result: a disc with a folder full of pics.

  • Why don't pictures from a slideshow made in iPhoto and then burned on to a DVD in iDVD not use the full screen?

Why don't pictures from a slideshow made in iPhoto and then burned on to a DVD in iDVD not use the full screen?

All I want to do is send my family the pictures for them to be able to see them on most dvds and use manually control.
If you want set top DVD player playback, I suggest you create a a series of slideshows IN iDVD that each contain a MAXIMUM of 99 images. Do not create the slideshow in iPhoto or iMovie.
Is there an easier way to do this, bypassing iDVD?

  • How to burn an iPhoto CD/DVD using a DIFFERENT picture format ?...

    Hello,
    Here's a tricky problem:
My iPhoto Library only includes heavy TIFF images. I'd like to share an album with a friend, i.e. burn this album on a CD or DVD within iPhoto. But I would prefer burning JPEG images instead of TIFF, because more images would fit on a single disk (and also because display would be much faster).
Is there any way to do this using iPhoto 6 ? Can iPhoto "internally" convert images from a format to another ? What is the best route to follow ?
Any answers will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is always a difficult problem. So far the best solution I have found is to use a script called iPhoto Keyword utilities (available at http://scriptbuilders.net/files/iphotoiptckeywordimportexportutilities1.0.html). It will export your keywords to the IPTC Keyword file of the original and modified files in iPhoto.
So far I have not found an easy way to export the comments into a related IPTC field. As for the ratings, I make a keyword for each rating, and then reassign the ratings from the keywords. To change the format, you can either export directly into the new format, or export the original format and use another editor (Graphic converter or Photoshop) to batch change them. Then you would reimport the files into a new iPhoto Library. Sometimes iPhoto will automatically recognize the embedded keywords, or you may have to use the above scripts, or another script called "Metadata to iPhoto 1.0 script" by Barrrt (available on the iPhoto 6 Editing & organization discussions under "IPTC Metadata to iPhoto" section) to do this.
It sure would be nice to find an easier way to do it all! Maybe you can send a recommendation to apple.
You should also note that if you have changed the date or time on your photos in iPhoto, when you export them, they will not retain the new time. For this you can use another script, called PhotoInfo 1.04, also available elsewhere on this forum. Good luck!

I just finished creating a movie using IMovie and want to burn it to a DVD and loop it.  Since I just purchased this mac it looks like they no longer include IDVD.  Is there something out there to help me do this.  I am new to MAC and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.

  • How do you use disk utility to burn a bootable .iso dvd?

Anybody have a clue on how you use disk utility to burn a .iso bootable dvd disk?
I'm trying to install windows 7 rc into virtual box in OS X 10.5.7 and cannot figure out how to do this. I've already installed the windows 7 beta in virtual box and was able to make a bootable dvd disk with the .iso file on it but have no clue how I did this.
I've been searching the web but most tips are for older version of OS X.
    Thanks to anybody who answers.

It's so easy, You can just burn an .iso file using DVD Creator Std instead of Disk Utility, only 3 steps to finish bur ning your .iso files:

  • What is the easiest way to burn imovies onto DVD's.   I want to burn more than one movie onto DVD as I create.    Can I continue to burn onto the same DVD as the movies are created?

What is the easiest way to burn my imovies onto DVD's?    I want to burn movies as I create them and then continue to add more movies to the same DVD as the years go by -- until the DVD is full!    Is this possible?

I have burned pictures to a dvd off of my iMac.  When I try to view them on my macbook I can only look at one picture at a time.  Is there anyway to view as a slideshow?  Thanks!

What app do you use to view them?

  • Can someone please tell me a simple but effective method for burning a slideshow to DVD? Now that the connection between iPhoto and iDVD no longer exists, I can't figure out a way to get there with an acceptable quality result.

Can someone please tell me a simple but effective method for burning a slideshow to DVD? Now that the connection between iPhoto and iDVD no longer exists, I can't figure out a way to get there with an acceptable quality result.

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Burning your movie to DVD , slow !

so i have been making lots of home movies, you know the kids parties sort of thing... i finish my editing , and proudly go to burn it onto a DVD for parents and wife etc etc
    1hr 45 mins MIN time !!!!!!
am i doing something wrong or is this normal ?
    i have a MBP 2.16 ghz

After it's finished, you can save and quit, and the video will be encoded when you open iDVD to burn your project.
That is exactly what is done when the project is saved 'as disk image' so that the project is preserved, ready to be burned (using Disk Utility). Saves on disks, allows you to see if there are any problems before attempting the actual burn.
Also, it worked that way recently for me while making said disk image. The power failed for about a second...just enough to make the mac restart. I thought, oh, great, just as it was nearly finished with the creation of the disk image. It probably had about 3min to go. I figured I had just lost about 6 hours and would have to start the encoding all over again. So, I opted to 'save as disk image' again, and it started with the rendering of the menus and then suddenly 'encoding video' began at the very place it had left off. I was highly skeptical of the resultant disk image, but it took only about 5 min and I had the entire DVD project on the disk image! The burned DVDs were perfect! I had no idea that a power failure would do anything but cause all work to be deleted and necessitate redoing it. What a nice surprise!

  • Burning Flash movie to DVD

    Hi
I am creating a flash animation to be projected. I have to burn in onto a dvd. I have tried converting the .mov file that flash exports, and flv to mpeg. The preview looks fine, but every time the dvd quality is terrible. I have tried HD, h. 264, NTSC. I have also tried converting a .swf to mpeg with no luck.
    I am using flash CS5.
    Please help.
I was wondering if I try to burn the html file that flash creates to DVD, would that work? Or should I try exporting the image sequence and put it back together in another program such as Final Cut or imovie? Should I use something other than Encore to convert the files?

It's strange that a dvd would be so problematic, especially since it is not a long movie, it has no complicated video or images.
    See Jim's suggestion.
DVD is TV, not computer; the specs that determine how DVDs behave on DVD players are very exacting. But primarily, you are no longer creating flash for computer, but for TV/DVD. Follow those rules and you'll get what you are after.

  • I get an error code when burning a movie to DVD

I use Premiere Elements 10 in my iMac OS lion vers. 10.7.2
I have 250 Gb free on my hard disc. The movie I try to burn is between 3-4 Gb
When starting to burn my movie to a DVD the following is seen in order on the screen:
    Encoding Menu 2 of 2
    Computing Media
    Burning disks 1 of 1
and then it burns (at the end pretty quickly) to 99% and stay there.
    I get an error code:
    Internal software error: /Users/labuser/premiere/elements/molecules/pre10-bullseye/molecule-17/External/AuthorScri pt/Source/DVDCreator/FormatLib/Ma.....
When I look on the DVD, it looks like nothing has been burnt to the DVD.
    What can be wrong?

I still have trouble with burning my movies to DVD.
    Have tried the following:
Found that I had "-" in many of my file names (clips). I removed them from the file names, but this had no effect.
I moved my entire project folder to a shorter path folder. This had no effect.
I have not managed to find blank DVDs on sale here in Gothenburg, but will try to buy them online.
I have four movies that I want to burn on DVD discs.
Have succeeded in burning two of them.
I've tried to find what distinguishes between the two that are OK and the two that I have not succeeded with. They are all at about the same size, about 27-29 minutes long.
The clips are .m2ts and .mts files.
In one of the movies that are OK, all the clips are .m2ts files. In the second movie (that is OK), most of the clips are .m2ts files, but also there are .mts files.
In the other two movies that are not OK, it's a mix of .m2ts and .mts files.
When I try to burn the two movies which failed, I get the same course as I showed earlier (with an error code).
I must admit that I was wrong when I previously wrote that I could burn all the movies to my hard drive. The ones I can not burn to DVD, I can not burn to my hard drive.
