Burning mini CDs or DVDs

How can I burn mini CDs or DVDs on my Macpro? Do I need to purchase some type of an adapter?
Thanks.

Press the Eject key and look at the tray. If it has an indented region to keep a small disc centered, then it is OK.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to upload my hundreds of previously burned photos (some CD'S AND SOME DVD'S) on my PC using Nero.  They are mostly jpegs, some tiffs.  They do  upload to iPhoto on my new Mac but I bought this program in hopes of using it for editing my photos.

  • Disk Utility Burning CDs and DVDs Windows Compatibility

I don't burn many CDs or DVDs. However, a friend of mine recently switched to Apple, and he burns quite a few movies and CDs. He asked me how to copy DVDs, burn Audio CDs, and save files to CDs and DVDs. The only thing I knew how to do was to burn files to CDs. I know that CDs that are burned in the Finder will work on Mac OS and Windows. My question is about Disk Utility. I've read that Disk Utility does not create Windows compatible disks, however Apple's instructions for making a copy of a movie DVD are to use Disk Utility and create a CD/DVD master image to burn to a DVD. Disk Utility uses the .cdr format, which supposedly does not work with Windows. So, if I wanted to copy a Windows application CD, could disk utility make an exact copy of it or not? It seems to me that it should since I am making an exact copy using CD/DVD master, but will it do it or not? Also, if I made a copy of a Movie DVD using CD/DVD master (.cdr) will it only play on Macs or will it play on Windows also? When it comes to Audio CDs, I realize one must use iTunes to make Audio CDs. I have searched all over the internet for answers to these questions and most people say use Roxio Toast or they just don't answer these questions very clearly.

If you have two optical drives connected to your computer, you can just clone the disc. However, I'd recommend Roxio Toast, as others have, because it'll handle all the compatibility issues for you. Dealing with Finder and Disk Utility guarantees compatibility with macs, but not necessarily Windows, or even standard DVD/CD players depending on how you burn it.
If you have audio files, use iTunes to burn an audio CD. If you have movie files, use iDVD or Toast to burn a standard DVD (not a data disc).

  • When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message  "The registry settings used by the I tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software  Please reinstall

When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message:
"The registry settings used by the I Tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.
This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install I Tunes."
To my knowledge no new software has been installed.  I have tried un-installing and re-installing I Tunes but I still
    get the same message.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?  Do I need to download a new driver?
    Bill Martin

I can get down as far as step 11 but it shows nothing about upper filters and when I type on "If the Upper Filters entry is missing follow these instructions" nothing happens
Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.

  • Satellite A200-AH5 CD/DVD drive does not burn any CDs

I own a Toshiba Satellite laptop (A200 -AH3) running Windows Vista Home Premium.
For what it is worth, the processor is a T2085 @ 1.73 GHz. It is a 32-bit Operating System.
In Device Manager when I click on DVD/CD Rom drives, I get TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D ATA Device.
Clicking on this I find that the driver is working properly and up to date. I have not been able to burn a CD on this system...
I have not tried to burn a DVD.
I have run through all the steps for burning a CD, however, but even though it goes through the process of showing the progress as each song from a playlist is burned to disc, when the disc is supposedly finalized...there is nothing on the disc when I try to play it back and with the exception of iTunes or another program opening when I place the CD into the drive to be played, absolutely nothing happens.
I tried burning music on a disc on my sister's desktop computer and it burned fine.
So...It is not a problem with the discs.
When I took the disc my sister had burned and placed it in the disc drive on my laptop, it displayed the tracks that had been burned and it played the music just fine. This has me really thrown for a loop.
The laptop is only a year old and I can't burn a single thing.
Unfortunately, the warranty has expired. I am desperate to get this problem fixed. I have no idea if it will burn a DVD, but I have ruined 2 boxes of CD-R discs already. After the disc has supposedly burned the music...even though no music has been burned...the disc is ruined and has to be tossed.
I am not terribly knowledgeable about techncal aspects of computers, so I hope you can speak to me in general terminology if you respond to my problem. I really hope someone out there can advise me as to what is going on or what I should do to resolve the problem.
Thanks for any help in advance!
    Thanks.

    Hi
In your case I would recommend trying different CDs from different manufacturers.
You should know that not all CDs or DVDs would be fully compatible with your internal CD/DVD drive.
In many cases not compatible CD or DVD would cause exactly the same issues which you have described in your message so try different medias!
Furthermore I would recommend checking the Toshiba driver page for an CD/DVD drives firmware update.
As Im not mistaken the Satellite A200-AH3 belongs to the Canadian series and you should check the Canadian page for some new firmware. Maybe a new firmware is available
Last but not least you could switch to other burning software Im using the Nero In my opinion its the best applications for such purposes

  • Every time I open Itunes or plug in my Ipod or Ipad I get an error message that the registery settings for burning cds and dvds are missing and to reinstall Itunes.  i've done this several times but the message won't go away.

Every time I plug my Ipod Nano or Ipad 2 into my computer I get the same error message.  It says that registery settings are missing for importing burning cds and dvds due ot other burning software and to untinstall itunes and reinstall Itunes.  I've done this several times and I'm not having any trouble importing cds at all and I can't make the message go away.  It always comes up before Itunes will open.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • File permissions on burned CDs and DVDs

When I burn CDs and DVDs, I often find that the permissions are set such that they are only readable by me. This causes a problem when I go to a Linux machine (or presumably another Mac) with a different login ID. (Interestingly, windows ignores these permissions.) If I remember, I can go in and change all the permissions through the Finder (or Terminal) before burning the CD, but I often forget. Is there a way in the burn process to make a disc universally readable?
    Thanks,

Haven't tried scanning the discs since I myself don't have access to a Windows machine. I've tried various brands of discs but to no avail; one thing I've noticed though is that DVD+R discs seem to function every now and then but things with CDs and DVD-Rs aren't the same.
Well, it's only 10 extra minutes to make the image and burn it so maybe I'll have to cope with it.

    Hi,
I recently switched from a relatively small drive to a much larger one and had the larger drive taking image of the older drive.  All of my older programs are now back up to working but I can still can't burn a CD.

I have reinstalled iTunes a few times and have done soft and hard reboots but still no luck.  Any ideas on the simplest way to resolve this matter?
    Thank you

  • The drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDS are missing, it advised reinstalling but a reinstall does not fix

When I open Itunesthis message appears
"The regidtry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and bruning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes"
I have tried reinstalling mulitple times and it has not helped. I am not aware that any other CD burning softawre being installed.
Also, when I plug in my I-pod another message appears saying
"This Ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
The 64-bit version is already installed and again reinstalling hasn't helped.
What is wrong? Can anyone help?

I think you might have two different things going on at once here.
Let's try fixing the following one first:
