Burning more than one dvd

Anyone know of a way to burn more than one DVD at a time with DVD studio Pro if you have two burners in your machine?

Hi Mossie,
I got a product this summer - Dragon Burn from NTI.
http://www.ntius.com/dragon_burn.asp
It's not as easy as Toast, but works pretty well. There are a few extra steps to creating the disc image to burn from , but not too bad.
Give it a try. They have a demo on the site.

  • Encore can't burn more than one DVD at a time: Sense Code 56400

For a long time now I've been unable to burn multiple DVD's at a time. I burn more than one and I get an error and have to make a coaster out of yet another DVD
I just upgraded to 24 gb of DDR3 PC 1600 RAM, I have an 6 Core Processor, I have 7.8 on everything accept my hard drive which is 7.0 out of 7.9 according to my Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit system.
I have 2 different DVD burners, one is a blu-ray burner too. I have the same issues, only different error readings it seems, on both drives. The first drive didn't burn even one for some reason so I tried the second. The second drive would burned 3 and on the fourth I got the errors' which I've included screen shots of below. I was surprised I got through three before I got to this error. By the end of the week I have a large project I need to make 30 DVD's of. HELP!!!!!
A long time ago on my older machine I had similar problems and I went through different drives and discs until I seemed to come up with the magic combination which seemed to be a Plextor burner and Verbatim. But, then i got a bad batch of verbatim and tried Maxell and used those successfully for a while. Right now I'm using what a friend gave me, TDK's. I'm wondering if that's what the problem is... HELP!!!!

I have managed to get it to work consistently now. I just burned 20 DVD's without a problem.
I tried everything you suggested except the imageburn software. I didn't like that site, I was too anxious to try and figure out where to download that software in the midst of all the advertisements on that site.
After clearing out everything in startup and services except what I needed I still wasn't able to burn successfully. Finally I went and purchased some Verbatim DVD-R discs and wahlah! Actually, after the first try with the verbatim I had an error code when trying to burn with Encore. So, I created and image file as you suggested and then I used Cyberlink's Power2Go to burn the image file and from there on it seems everything is solid.
I think the biggest problem was using TDK discs. I came to the realization a few years ago that certain disks are not as predictable as others and that verbatim and maxell seem to be the best. I did get one bad batch of verbatim though one time and that's when I switched to Maxell. My friend gave me 200 of the TDK's and I've been having problems ever since. But, I wasn't sure what it was exactly because he gave me those around the same time I rebuilt my system.
I had also found the Plextor seems to be the best bet for burners. But, I had been using an HP one lately and thought maybe that was the problem. However, now it seems to be fine.
I really don't know what fixed it. I mean, nothing definitely worked until I started using the Verbatim today. But, that first verbatim erroring perplexed me. I had done some other things too, like removed some programs, like a bunch of HP printer crap. I even removed my virus software, Window Security Essentials. I just reinstalled it so now I'm wondering if I can burn as consistently. I had seen somewhere where someone said they removed Windows' Defender to get theirs working.
Anyways, I guess what I need to do is format my main hard drive, only put adobe stuff on it, and then take my old computer set it up for everything else. That'll probably be the best thing to do... If I have anymore problems like this I'm doing that right away!

  • How to burn more than one file on the same dvd?

I would like to burn more than one file in to the same dvd. It seems to me that using Finder I can burn only a file. There is some alternative command? Thank's

Select all the item to burn... right click...
    Or
Place all items into a folder and burn the folder to the disc.
    Or
Make a Burn Folder in the Finder (place items into the folder) and burn from there to a disc.

  • Can I export (burn) more than one slide show to the same DVD

Can I export (burn) more than one slide show I created in iPhoto to the same DVD, and if yes, how?

Yes.  If you're using iDVD export the slideshow out of iPhoto at 480p size and drag it into an open iDVD menu window, being careful to avoid any drop zones.  iDVD can handle up to 120 minutes of playing time (movies plus menus) on a single layer DVD disk.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • ITunes Won't Burn More Than One CD at a time...

(I am sorry if this is in the incorrect forum)
When I attempt to burn more than one CD (one right after the other) using iTunes I get an error message stating that the computer cannot calibrate enough laser power...and it spits the CD out. If I wait a few hours/restart it works again— anyone know if this is just an iTunes problem?
    Thanks,

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but this sounds like a suggestion rather than a problem.

  • Final Cut Pro X burn more than one DVDFinal Cut Pro X burning DVD copies

There seems to be an issue when burning ('sharing') more than one copy of a DVD from FCPX - I have replicated several times
Share DVD first time correctly creates a DVD which will autoplay from start of programme material
If you then choose Create DVD - Burn DVD again - this produces a DVD which autoplays from a random point in the programme material
If you choose to exit from Create DVD and Share DVD again (using the same title) this produces a DVD which autoplays from a random point in the programme material
If you exit from Create DVD and Share DVD using a different title this produces a DVD which autoplays from start of prgramme material
Any one have a similar experience?

Not sure I understand that point Tom - I am not using a DVD player to test this issue
    I think I should re-phrase my question:
It appears that having 'shared' a DVD from FCPX with title XXX XXXX which correctly autoplays from the start of the DVD...
If I then click 'burn again' the DVD produced (played back as a test in my Mac) will consistently autoplay from another point in the programme material not from the start
And if I write another DVD from the 'share' menu with the same title XXX XXXX when tested in my Mac it will consistently autoplay from another point in the programme material not from the start
However if I write another DVD from the 'share' menu (same timeline) with a different title XXX XXXX XXX the DVD when tested in my Mac will autoplay correctly from the start
Can anyone replicate this performance error?

  • Burning more than one movie on a DVD

I have put together 3 iMovies. I can export them to iDVD and burn them one at a time but I would like to be able to combine all three movies and burn them on one DVD. I haven't found any information to help me with this so can anyone help? Or is this impossible to do.
    Thanks
    Skitterbug
IMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I'm fairly new at doing this so I will appreciate all the help I can get!

    Hi Sharon,
Which version of iMovie are you using? If you are using iMovie version 4, then you get this file structure in your project...
    MyProject (Main project folder)
    . MyProject.iMovieProj (the project file)
    . MyProject.mov (a Quicktime reference movie)
. Media (a folder that holds all your media)
In addition you might also have an "Audio Waveforms" folder for some projects.
When you export to iDVD using the "Create iDVD Project" button in iMovie, you then get a new folder added to your project called "Shared Movies" and in that you get an iDVD folder and in that you get another .mov reference movie. Here is an example from one of my projects...
Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting... http://imageshack.us/
So the one marked 1. is the project reference movie that will be updated if you make any changes to your iMovie. The one marked 2. is the "snapshot" of your project at the time you used the iDVD button. If you create an iDVD project and don't touch the iMovie project again, these two files will be identical. But if you go in and change something in the project, you have to use the iDVD button to update this file (which also launched iDVD again and starts a new project, which you can simply close out of without saving).
Ok to get to your specific question. In iDVD you can dra and drop any reference (.mov) right into your project. Just be sure you drop it into the project NOT on one of the drop zones, but instead into any free spot on the screen. The movie will now be added to the project. If you want a second or third movie added to the project, then navigage to your next project and grab and drop the reference .mov file onto iDVD and it will be added.
I mention the folder structure above because you can grab either one depending on which one is more up to date or you want to use. The nice thing about the "Shared Movie" folder created in iMovie4 is you can exploit this to create alternate version of a project because when you use that button a "snap shot" is taken of your project at that time and a separate reference movie (#2 on the screen shot above) is created. Just remember, if you want to create another "snap shot" and keep the other, then rename #2 to something else so it doesn't get overwritten.
    Hope that helps,
    Patrick

what should i do? please help im now leaving in less than 24 hours and buggin out!

Sorry you have run into such a problem
This is exactly why all of us recommended that you do a 'Save as disk image' BEFORE burning to disk. It is exactly the same process, takes up the same amount of space and will allow you to identify potential problems before you waste disks. Once the disk image is created, you can play it back on your computer to be sure everything is ok. Then, when you actually burn the disk, using DIsk Utility, it takes only a fraction of the time because all the encoding is already done.
See Len Goff's explanation here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=914789&tstart=0
At this point, you can still do the save as disk image from your iDVD project. It will probably take as long as the first burn. Open iDVD and go to the menu bar at the top of your screen. Under 'Advanced' select 'Delete Encoded assets' to clear your project of the prior encoding.
Now go to File/Save as Disk image and let the image be created to your desktop. Go to sleep. Hopefully it will be ok and play back fine. (You use DVD Player for this). Once you are sure that the disk image is ok, you can then do the burn from Disk Utility. Set the burn speed to 1x, 2x, or 4x. Don't go faster than that. Be sure to use a good brand of disk, like Verbatim DVD-R.
Since you are so short on time, if the disk image is ok, burn some of your disks, and keep the disk image on your computer for burning more later.

  • Breaking long movies into more than one DVD

Help! I've created a movie with a bunch of chapters of a training that we did and now I need to burn it on a DVD but its way too big...how can I break it up into two or three dvds with idvd?

What is "...way too big..."? How long is the movie? I assume you're using iMovie HD (6). You should make movies that will then fit iDVD. Do you have a double-layer burner in the iMac?

  • Burning more than one movie to DVD

This'll sound dumb but I would like to know if (and how) I can burn multiple .dv movies using iDVD5. As far as I can tell, iDVD5 only handles one movie at a time. In iMovie5, I created a number of movies and shared/saved them at maximum quality (.dv). They play fine in QT. Now, I want to burn them all onto a DVD. Is this possible?

    Hello Smiley,
you should create a new topic for your question. That way it will receive more attention and other users may benefit from possible solutions as well.
.... but as you are here already:
Do you have chapters in your movie?
If so check that you have set them according to "The Rules of Chapter Markers":
    - No chapter markers on or within 2 seconds of a transition.
    - No chapter markers within 2 seconds of the beginning or the end of the movie.
    Also:
    1. free some space on the startup drive (15-20GB recommended)
    2. Trash preferences (com.apple.iDVD.plist) and empty trash
    3. Repair Disk Permissions using Disk Utility
Now create a new iDVD project and import your iMovie. Do not use the "Share to iDVD" option in iMovie, but save and quit iMovie then open iDVD and drag in your movie from the media pane or choose File > Import > Video.
. iDVD is NOT a disc burning app, so leave that work to software designed for it. Instead use iDVD's "Save as Disc Image" option (File > Save as Disk image). This creates an .img file on your HDD, that can be stored for future use and gives you the option to preview your DVD on your Mac before burning to disc.
Use Disc Utility or Toast to burn your DVD at slow speed. 4x is acceptable, 2x (... or even 1x) is better.
Use high quality DVD-R (not DVD+R) media (e.g. Verbatim) to minimize burn errors and compatibility issues. Make sure the DVD is compatible with slow burn speed (e.g. 1x-4x)
    hope this helps

  • How do I burn more than one file to a dvd in with compressor?

I'm needing to burn 2 video files to a single dvd, is it possible to do so in Compressor?

The easiest way  is to put them into a single sequence in FCP, separated by a gap and title, with a chapter marker set at that location for navigation. You could also use Quick Time Pro for this.
But Compressor cannot do multi-track DVD;s like a full fledged authoring program – such as  DVD Studio Pro. iDVD can also do this if you can locate a boxed copy of iLife…also Toast.

  • Burning more than two DVDs in a row impossible?

    Hi,
I have a rather big project that needs a DVD DL to fit on one disc. Following the instructions in the iDVD help, I'd like to make several copies directly from iDVD without using a disk image because burning from a disk image does not comply with the standards for a DVD DL.
My problem: Encoding takes a long time. After burning the first disk, iDVD prompts me to insert another one to burn on so you don't have to do the encoding again. When about five minutes are left to finish this second disk, iDVD ejects the disk. But the remaining time still runs. And when reaching the point "about one minute left", nothing more happens. I have to cancel the process. Consequently, when I want to burn another disk, I have to do the complete encoding again - which I do not want, of course, because it'll take ages until I have done all my copies.
    Any ideas about this?? Thanks!

When I've made DL DVDs, I've created a disc image and then burn to Verbatim DVD+R DL at slow speed.
...because burning from a disk image does not comply with the standards for a DVD DL.
    Why not?
There is always some concern that creating a disk image file won't properly set the dual-layer break point. Anecdotal information in the forum suggest this isn't a really a problem.
Daniel, just do what Len said...

  • Can't burn more than 1 DVD

So I finally got iDVD to work - I can't use a theme or anything, I'm just burning "one Step DVD from Movie..." I'll deal with the theme problem later but I really need these DVDs burned by tomorrow... so here's the problem: I burn the DVD just fine, the disk ejects and then iDVD says "done" and it is stuck 'thinking'. Then have to force quit and open iDVD back up to burn another disk. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Can you save your DVD project as a disk image? It will go through all the encoding, but instead of burning a disk, you get a disk image that is the exact copy of the DVD. You can use the disk image to burn further DVDs through Disk Utility. If you go this route whenever you make a DVD project, you can save yourself wasted disks if there is a problem with burning.
Since you already have a disk that burned, you can use it to make a disk image and do the burning of the rest of the disks from the disk image created from that.

  • Burning more than one Blu-ray Disc in FCP7

I successfully burned one Blu-ray disc of my 2-hour HD project. It took 16 hours, 15 minutes to export the audio & video files and burn the disc.
Now -- I want to burn another disc. Project is still open. When I follow the same process as before (File - Share - Create Blu-ray Disc - Export), it looks like it'll take another 16 hours to burn the second disc!
Since the Blu-ray files have been created ... what do I do? Better yet: How can I close the project, open it back up on another day and burn the second (and third, and fourth) Blu-ray Disc of the same project faster (less than 16 hours)?

    Hi Larry,
just to clarify in the 'edit markers' dialogue box you have clicked 'Add Chapter Marker' button and this has added the text '<CHAPTER>' to the 'comment' box.
as in the 5th picture on this tutorial
