Burning Music Problem

I have just ruined 6 discs trying to burn a cd from a playlist on my Itunes site . What am I doing wrong ? I have an opening for a disc in the front and I was told I could burn music so I would love some help on this . The iTunes is the update 7.7.1. I have burned music before off the XP program on Itunes so why cannot I do it on this laptop too ??

Just to clarify...have you tried to play the burned CDs on the computer? Not all car players and other CD players will play one of these burned audio CDs. (I just want to confirm that the problem is actually with burning and not the player itself.)
I'm running out of ideas, I'm sorry to say. A couple of more questions, though. What file type are the songs in the playlist? (purchased from iTunes, imported from your own CDs? AAC, lossless, MP3?)
Also...you might try logging in on your computer from another user account. You probably won't have an iTunes library there, but you could import a couple of songs and try to burn from the different account. Sometimes the User account on the Mac will get corrupt in some way and cause problems. Trying this would be another way to narrow down the problem by process of elimination.
If you don't have another account created that you can log in under and don't know how to create one, post back.

  • Music CDs burning- Compatibility Problems

I recently upgraded to a PowerMac G5 (late 2005) 2x2.3 GHz system running the latest version of 10.5, this machine has 6.5GB of RAM and 1.5 TB of HDD space. I used to burn Music CDs from my iTunes library on my Quicksilver G4 with no problems, mostly to play in the family vehicle. After a few months now, I burned my first music CD from my new G5, only to discover that it won't play in the van. I burned a duplicate of the disc thru iTunes just to make sure it wasn't just a bad disc, but same result. these two discs will play on any other device that plays burned Music CDs, but not in my car. I haven't changed CD media at all- the only thing that's changed is the Mac (the G5) and the fact that I'm now using iTunes 9.
    My G5 has this SuperDrive:
    HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B
    Firmware Revision: C006
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
I'm not sure what specific brand drive that is, but I'm assuming that it's the stock drive that shipped with the unit. Am I missing a firmware update somewhere for this?

When burning CDs, iTunes converts the format of the songs automatically on-the-fly to .AIF so the format they are initially imported into the iTunes library is irrelevant. The main thing I would be concerned with is the burn speed, if it is set too high the reliability of the disc may be compromised. It is best to burn audio CDs at 2X-4X maximum for best quality or compatibility (note: data read-only CD-Rs can be burned at higher rates). Also the brand of disc can make a difference, try to use Verbatim instead of Maxell, TDK, Sony or the other cheap box-store brands.
My other concern would be the original stock burner in the G5 could be malfunctioning. It is no longer supported with firmware updates, and I would recommend replacing it with the latest Pioneer from OWC (www.macsales.com) for your model G5. They are around $30 and easy to install, and will give you better burn speeds and reliability. I had to replace the burners in both my G5s a few years back and have not had any further issues. The other option is to get an external FireWire burner if you plan on doing lots and lots of discs.

  • Burning music CD fails

    Hi,
I've been having problem with burning music CD from iTunes.
I tried variety of CD-R's (Verbatim, Memolex, Maxell, Office Deipot brand, etc) . Sometimes Memolex works with very low speed (2X), but most of times fails with other brands.
What I saw is that iTunes prepared songs successfully but after start burning progress bar didn't move at all (for tens of minutes) and looked waiting for response from CD-R devices.
I tried with 2 machines below.
    1. Mac mini (Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 1GB memory) with PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06RS: (replaced from factory part), OS 10.5.8
    2. Macbook (Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 2GB memory) with HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS21N (LG?) (Apple shipping device), OS10.5.8
    iTunes version is 10.6.3.
Does anyone have same problem and/or solution?
    Best regards,
    -Ichiro

I'm so sorry that I was confused for reporting.
Actually Macbook worked fine. Issue exists only on Mini.
So please let me clarify issue again here:

  • G5 will not burn photo data CD will burn music CD

    when trying to burn CD
    1. Preparing data
    2. writing track 1
    3. Error Code OX8002 006D
    4. CD is spit out
Yet when using iTunes there are no problems burning a music CD.
    Help.
I want to share my lovely photos.

Burn error: 0x8002006D The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.
I haven't found anything on that error code from Apple or Sony (my dvd player). I did find out that it means the drive isn't able to read the media for some reason. A year ago I had something similar happen and a lens cleaning disc did the trick.
Here's what I learned: DVD's and CD's aren't the same and different applications treat them each differently as well.
The progression I've been throuh this time: trying different brands (Sony or Maxell - or so 'they say'), make sure I had enough space to burn on my HD, clean out caches with catch x, mac janitor, or onyx and when that still failed, delete .plist and reboot. (actually i just rename plist). Each one of those things could've made burning a problem for some media, in some areas and not others.
Then I created a guest account, logged in and that worked perfectly. I have no idea why or what to do next.
This seems to be a fairly common problem that's been going on for awhile now. Apple doesn't have a single document on it. I think most are just replacing thier drives.
    I hope that helped.

  • Cant burn music files on CDs

I am having trouble burning music cds using the burner. The music will initially burn but after listening to the disc I realize the quality becomes poor including lots of skipping, especially towards the end of the disc. I use a standard cd-r and never surpass capacity.
Is there a way to fix this problem or should I send my mac in?

  • Burning music onto a dvd

I want to burn music and back up my library onto dvds.  when I start it the Itune software becomes unresponsive and freeze.  What can I do to solve this problem, when on the program it say a backup can be performed with cd/dvd.

I think you'll find that when you burn a very short video (therefore a small DVD size wise) then it tkaes longer as the burner is writing the "lead-out" and has to fill the disc up to a certian point or it won't play properly.
I could be wrong but I think that's why it takes the time.

I am able to burn music to cd using WMP 9, (and nero fast burn cd plug in) and when I go to the advanced tab in itunes it recognizes my burner drive.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I was able to burn from itunes before updating to 7, I have tried the itunes fix, I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes, I have uninstalled Nero in case there was a conflict there but nothing works.

I've seen post in the past about updating your drivers & firmware fixing this...unfortunately I don't know a lot about that. Hopefully this will push your post up in the list & someone elase can chime in...or you can search the discussion and find more information on this.

    Hi sean,
back up your iTunes, and re-install iTunes from apple.

If that still fail, maybe you got a faulty optical drive.
Bring to apple store and have 'em check it for you.
Also post your problem on iTunes forum, maybe more expert user can help you up there.
    Good Luck.

  • Unable to Play some burned Music

I have previously burned music from CD's to my Itunes Library, that I have played with no problems. Recently I found many of my tracks had exclamation marks after them with the error message saying, they couldn;t be played because the original songs weren't available. Would I like to find them? When I hit 'Yes', previous downloads for specific dates came up but they would not open. So it seems they have been deleted by I Tunes.
The Songs I can't play are ones where I didn't specify a particular artist. I can still play songs ok where the Artist's name was put in. What is the cause of this problem??! I downloaded the most recent ITUNE 7.5 after this problem occured, but no change.

  • Can't burn music cds lately.

I have a Dell 4550 running XP home. I have a Samsung SW-248F CD-RW x48x16x48. I have burned music cds in the past using Imation CD-RW 1x-4x discs with no problem. Tonight I tried to burn a music cd with the same type of disc to no avail. I tried burning an existing and a new playlist. Nothing has worked. This is very frustrating because I successfully burned a cd in the same manner just weeks ago. I have installed no new software or hardware since then. Anyone had a problem like this or have any suggestions? Thanks.
    TJ

You didn't put a recent commercial CD from Sony-BMG in your computer, did you?

  • How can I burn music from my iTunes library to CD, while still keeping the track info intact?

I made several CDs for a friend, but when my friend imported the disc into iTunes none of the track names showed up (it just said "Track 1", "Track 2", etc.) This is annoying because it was 8 CDs worth of music (over 150 songs!)
Is there a software or any tool I can use that will allow me to burn music for friends, while still keeping the track info intact?

  • Creative Zen loading music problem

"Creative Zen loading music problem?I just started using a creative zen (DVP-FL000, 6Gb) player and i'm having?a few issues copying music onto it.
I have loaded the latest firmware (.2.03e) onto it and formatted it so was clean when i started loading my music on.
I'm using winamp on winxp to copy my music to the player, but occasionally i get tracks that wont copy to the player. Winamp just shows 'unspecified error'. If a file fails to copy it will never copy, no matter how many times i try. Somtimes its a random track, sometimes an entire album.
So i also tried copying the tracks that wont copy using windows explorer, it appears to copy but the file never appears on the device. The same is also true when i try it on my Windows7 laptop with explorer, it will appear to be copying but then part way through it will report that the device has stopped responding.
It only seems to happen with windows media files, all my mp3s copy fine. The files that dont copy probably represent about 0% of my music but play fine on all my other players.
sorry for the long post, just really scratching my head with this one!
    anyone have any ideas?

    solved
did a 'clean up' in the recovery menu, no problems transferring tracks since

  • Why won't my computer burn music onto blank CDs

I am trying to burn music onto my blank CD but a notification will pop up saying "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the lazer power level fo this media." Sometimes it is able to burn music onto the CD though. Any ideas how to fix this?

    Try:
    - A lens cleaning disc to clean dust off the laser lenses,
    - A slower burn speed
    - Better quality CDs
    - It is also possible your drive is faiiling and will need replacing or you use an external Superdrive.
