Burning music videos to CD or DVD

I downloaded some musich videos and planned to burn them to a CD or DVD so I can play them without hooking my computer up to my stereo system. Out of six I tried to burn I got an message saying I could not burn five of them. Don't remember exactly what the message said but got the idea it had to do with something encoded into the download.
Is there any way to get around this?
I read about not being able to burn movies but these are music videos not movies, or is the restriction the same?
Thanks

Thanks...now I've got to figure out how to play them on a video projector and external sound system. I was trying to simplyfy the setup by eliminating the need for a computer.
As a follow up, can the plain vanilla iPod player be used to store and play music videos? Or is a higher end one needed?

  • Burning music videos to dvd-r

I just purchased the Linkin Park album, Road To Revolution, a live album. It has about 20 tracks and a "music video" of the whole concert. The video is 1 hour and 25 min long and almost 1 gigabyte. I have a 4 gb ipod nano, and the video doesnt fit on it. I wanted to try to burn the video on to a dvd-r so I could watch it on my tv, but i couldnt figure out how to burn it. I also tried putting it on my 1 gb flash drive, so I could watch it on my xbox 360, but it was slightly to big to fit on it.

Did you purchase this from iTunes? If so, you can only burn the video to a disk for back up purposes. You can't burn it to one that can be read by a standard DVD player. If you have a 4 gig nano, you should be able to put the video on it. You may just have to move some other things off for a while.

  • I have question regarding comment below - unable to burn a video file onto a DVD

Everytime I try to burn a video onto a blank DVD i get the following message - I would appreciate any help to resolve the problem.
The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.

    this could mean:
laser dirty - some people recommend 'cleaning disks', some say this would kill a drive finally
    or,
your kind of disk brand isn't 'first choice' for your kind of drive.
best track record on Apple drives: Verbatim or Taijo Yuden (hard to get outside Japan)
    or,
you did try to use DVD-Rom disks, instead of dvd-r/dvd+r

  • Music videos from itunes onto dvd

How can i make a cd that will play my music videos so that i can play them on a dvd player instead of using my ipod?

Unfortunately, that is not possible, due to restrictions set by the movie right holders.
Any video purchased at the iTunes Store can only be burned to Data CD for backup.
You can read the 'fine print' in the iTunes Store - Terms of Service, chapter 9:
"You shall be entitled to export, burn (if applicable) or copy Products solely for personal, noncommercial use. You shall not be entitled to burn Video Products."

  • Burning ipod videos to play on dvd player

does anybody know a way or a free program i can download to burn the videos on my ipod to a dvd so i can watch it on a dvd player?

Are you referring to purchased videos from the iTunes music store? If so, they cannot be burned to a DVD that will play in a DVD player.
They can be burned to a data DVD which will play on computers however.

  • Burning Music Videos

How can I burn the audio component of music video files to a CD. I've built up a large collection of music videos instead of buying the audio only, and now wish to put these tracks on a CD for my car

Sorry, no. All purchased video content is protected & can only be burned to a data disc which is suitable for backup purposes only.

  • Burn HD Video to a Normal DVD

    Hi All,
I Wish to know that how to burn the HD Video to a normal DVD to playback the video on a normal dvd player? Thanks.

    As Shane Says...
Compressor should automatically determine the aspect ratio...
If you go in and change the mpeg quality settings to be higher, you'll probably have issues on DVD playback (your DVD play will choke)
When you go to make your DVD, set the aspect ratio to 16:9. here is a tutorial on how to do that: http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/16-9_dvdsp_setup_stone.html

  • Burn a video to a playable DVD

I have queried many of the folks at the Apple stores for advice in burning a video to a DVD that is playable on a DVD player for TV viewing. I don't have Apple TV and an HDMI to HDMI connector won't solve my problem if I make a video and send it to my Grandma. I just want a simple video authoring program that works. I've heard that iLife '09 and iLife '11 has iDVD,  but they have been abandoned by Apple and it is not currently the "state of art". Many of the available apps are either free or not free, but the complaints have been mostly universally negative. Is there a reliable program...as iMovie is incapable of doing what I want it to do. And, I'm unsure if Final Cut Pro X is worth the costly investment for what I want out of it. Folks have mentioned, "lemon wire", "Nero", "Burn" and the Apple store folks seem reluctant to suggest third party software names.

There is no adequate substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

I am also having this problem. I bought the entire season of Grey's Anatomy and want to burn it on a DVD. I can not back up the file on my computer becaues I only have a cd burner and my computer would not recognize the DVD-RW when inserted as a data file. Is there a way to burn our purchased tv shows as a DVD?

  • Burning a video to an external DVD writer

I have just bought a new G4 laptop and (stupidly, as it turns out) did not opt for the Superdrive, so I am trying to burn a short video to an external Freecom burner. All seemed to be going well. My plan was to save as a disc image and then use the Utilities to burn on to a DVD. However, when I tried to save as a disc image, I got the message 'there are no video tracks defined in the current project'. Does anyone know what that means and how to get round it?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi Hui,
I meant that the title of my movie appears in the 'status' page, not the media page (my mistake). So here's what I find I have to do:
    1. Import the file (so as to get it's name in a list box under 'status'. If I don't do this, I receive a message 'There are no video tracks defined in the current project')
    2. Open up the finder and drag the movie over somewhere other than the drop zone in the 'Travel Cards' theme
    3. Before dropping, I hold down the 'command' button so that none of the suggested theme is ever seen in the finished movie
    4. I drop
    5. Then I have to get rid of the words 'Travel Card', which persists over the top of the first scene in the movie and also the title of my movie (thoughfully supplied by iDVD, but which I don't want , since I already have it in the movie)
    6. When I press 'preview', it plays fine, but it loops.
I suspect I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but I can't seem to see an easier way!
Many thanks for any advice you can give

  • FCPX DVD export to Compressor: error burning disc; video file incompatible for DVD creation

I've been working on a project for months now (feature film) in Final Cut Pro X. Therefor I have done about 20 exports already from within FCPX to Compressor for DVD. Did the same process last night as always.
From within project timeline I go to SHARE -> DVD -> setup a basic menu then select USING COMPRESSOR
Compressor opens. I click submit and after the progress indicator fills up way too fast, I get this error:
"there was an error burning your disc the video file is incompatible for DVD creation"
DVD spits out and that's it. Compressor and FCPX are both still running and haven't crashed but I'm confused. I have burned since the recent 10.0.3 upgrades (and whichever upgrade just came out for Compressor as well) so I can't imagine it's the upgrade.
    Any ideas?
I tried making a duplicate of the project and renaming and exporting and had the same results.
At this moment I am trying to export to DVD directly from FCPX with default settings and it has bee "processing" with no movemtn on the progress bar for an hour (it's a 2 hour video so this may not be abnormal).

  • Burning ITunes video (LOST) onto a DVD

    Hello all,
Can someone please tell me how I can burn Lost onto a DVD so I can watch it on my home DVD player?
    Thanks

    Chip,
I am having the same problem. I tried burning it as a data DVD and playing it in an MPEG4 compatable DVD player. That did not work. I think apple only allows you to play it on authorized computers or iPODs, if so thats crap.
Let me know if you find a solution.

  • Burning videos to CDs or DVDs

Is it possible to burn music videos and TV shows purchased on iTunes onto a CD or DVD?
    Windows XP

You have a couple of options, one built right into the OS. You can use the Restore feature found in
the Disc Utility program to make an exact copy of the internal drive which contains ITunes. This gives
you not only an exact, bootable copy of your startup disc, but also maintains all the links between
your ITunes folder and the files containing the music. The only problem is each time you must do a full restore. Because of this, I use SuperDuper, which allows you to do incremental backups, which take much less time. SuperDuper is not free like CarbonCopyCloner, but I think has a slightly better reputation for reliability.

  • Encoding error when burning mp4 videos to dvd-rw using idvd

hi all, i'm trying to burn mp4 videos on a blank dvd. i used the magicdvd option in idvd 08 but the error message of "encoding error" had appeared before it burned the videos to the dvd. could you please let me know if mp4 is not supported by idvd? i heard i must convert mp4 to mpeg-2 in order to watch it with regular dvd player, can i do that with mpeg streamclip? is mpeg-2 supported by idvd? thanks!

    Hello Alarkin,
is there a free alternative to toast?
Yes, it's Disk Utility - just follow this procedure:
    1. create the disk image in iDVD
    2. double-click the resulting .img file to "mount" it. Next launch DVD Player to view your DVD .... if everything is fine, close DVD Player and eject the virtual disk.
    3. Open Disk Utility and drag the disk image into the left hand pane, then hit burn.
Note: Set the burn speed to 2x or even 1x. Most burn errors are the result of high burn speeds. Also use only high quality DVD-R media (e.g. Verbatim)
    hope this helps
    mish
