Burning only a portion of a CD track

Is it possible to burn to a CD only a portion of a particular track? I hope so, because I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance. pah

You can do all steps in iTunes.
First select the song in iTunes and 'Get Info'. Select the Options tab and set the start and stop times.
Then choose 'Convert Selection to (your setting)' from the 'Advanced' menu in the menubar.
A copy of the song will be made with only the portion you selected by start and stop times.
Deselect the checkboxes with start and stop times from the original.
You can't convert purchased music this way.
Hope this helps.

How do I burn only a portion of a song onto a disc?

Select the song, do a Get Info, Options, set the start and stop times to whatever part of the song you want. OK out of there. Add song to playlist, burn to a CD. Only the selected part of the song will be burned.
Be sure to reset the start and stop times if you want to be able to listen to the full track in iTunes.
Also, you can right click on the song with the start/stop times set, pick Convert To XXX (xxx will be whatever the import preferences are set for (MP3, AAC, etc.), and a new copy of the song will be created but only the portion between the start and stop times.

  • Is there a way to 'Mark In'  &  'Mark Out'  ONLY a PORTION of a Track?

    Hello
I'm doing voice-overs' - no multitrack music creations.
I don't see an option much like in FC, where you can extract (for export), only a portion of a track that you've created in Garage Band.
    Is there?
And of course GB automatically shares/exports it tracks straight to iTunes.
It's only from there that you then have to 'SHOW SONG FILE' in order to extract it as an AIFF to be used in a project elsewhere.
Is there anyway around this as well?
    Thanx
    Mike

Before I drag the yellow rule bar over the wanted portion of audio, should I first do the editing, delete the bad sections, then piece all the indiviual sentences and words together (Blue Clips), and somehow make them 'ONE' intergrated clip? Do this BEFORE I drag the yellow rule over that audio?
As I said somewhere above, the yellow ribbon doesn't do anything to your project, it's just a way to (1) loop the playback and (2) designate the export section of your song.
That having said: Most people leave the cycle region off while editing, because the playback will always start on its left edge which can be annoying. And if you want your final export to be flawless - of course edit out the flaws until you like your project, then set the cycle region and export.
And GB doesn't care much if your project consists of many small clips per track or one big one. The only reasons to join regions (by marking all of them and clicking apple-J) are: (1) save disk space, since the regions are mixed down to a new one and the old recordings are trashed, including the stuff you haven't used, and (2) make it easier to move chunks of regions around.

  • Burning problem: even after no delay between tracks, still get a noise

I want to burn a CD with no delay between tracks. I have selected 0 seconds in the Burning preferences as the delay. It works except that there is a short "blip" stutter sound at the start of every track...how can I get rid of this?
Like if the speech track is in the middle of the word, the sentence will sound like "Four score and Sev[blip]ven years ago..."

  • Can I burn only PART of a song to disc?

    Hello,
So I want to burn only the first minute of a lot of songs ... about 30 songs ... onto one disc.
Is there any way to do this? (To just burn a partial song without altering the file with some kind of editing?)
I'm doing this as a sampler disc for someone. I dont want to affect the original files.
    Gary

You can set the stop times of all songs you want to burn to 1 minute (select track, Get Info, Options tab).
Only the first minute will be burned on Audio CD.
This will not alter the file.
If you are looking for a script to set all selected tracks, read this topic.
Instead of 30, use 60 in the line "set finish of this_track to 30"
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I burn only part of a song

Is it possible to burn only part of a song and put only the edited portion onto a CD? Please let me know - thank you!

Go to Get Info for the song and then select the Option tab. There you can specify a different start and/or stop time. Once that's done, when you burn the song to a CD it will be "trimmed" according to your settings.
In addition to this working for CD burning, it also works for making a digital copy of the song without burning to CD. Once you set the start/stop time, select "Convert Selection to (whatever your current import format is set to)".

  • How to delete only a portion of the data portal?

This would be similar to DataDelAll() command, but allow only a limited set of data to be removed.
    For some background:
    - DIAdem 9.1 sp2
    - LabVIEW interface calling various DIAdem/VBS scripts
Using DIAdem to format reports based on various scripts and TDM data
results, I would like to be able to load and unload various data files
(TDM) while maintaining the specific report layout (also TDM) data in
the portal.  Two (ugly) options seem to be:
    a)  load entire data result set into the portal (including layout instructions) and process, or
    b)  keep track of layout state variables and clear portal/reload layout/load next data
This would all be easy if there is a command to enable the right-click delete... behavior of the data portal UI.
    Thanks!
    James

    Hello James,
there are diufferent commands you can use to delete only a portion of the data in the portal. You can delete single channels, a selection of channels, or entire groups with these three commands:
Call ChnDel(ChnArg) - deletes one channel
Call ChnDelete(ClpSource) - deletes a selection of channels
Call ChnSDel(ChnArg1, ChnNo) - delets a number of channels
Call GroupDel(TargetGroupIndex) - deletes a group including its channels
To create a selection of channels as argument for the second command, have a look at the functions
    ChnSelAdd, ChnSelGet, ChnSelCount

  • Burning audio over multiple discs - BUT NO TRACK INFO!

This problem has been occurring for so long I can't believe I've waited this long to vent.
I went to burn a playlist to audio CD that would need to span three (3) discs. After the 3rd disc burns, I check discs 1 and 2 and neither have ANY track info. Just Track 1, Track 2, ... This does me no good. The track info only burns for the last disc in sequence. This is a repeatable problem and is so terribly annoying that it makes me wish there was a good viable alternative to iTunes.
Please help if you know any way to prevent this from happening.

Swank, you will have to edit this information in yourself on the secondary computer. This link explains why burned audio CD's don't have track information on another computer.

After creating a playlist of Itunes, I was able to burn only one CD.  Other attempts would not play in auto CD player.

  • I purchase songs and only a portion of the song was down loaded?

HELP - I purchase songs and only a portion of the song was down loaded?

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • I updated my Macbook Pro last week to Lion.  I went to go import pictures from a memory card to my iPhoto, but only a portion of them loaded before my iPhoto froze and I had to Force Quit it. Now iPhoto won't even open... Help!

I updated my Macbook Pro last week to Lion.  I went to go import pictures from a memory card to my iPhoto, but only a portion of them loaded before my iPhoto froze and I had to Force Quit it. Now iPhoto won't even open... Help!
Please! I need an answer fast!!!!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I purchased extra icloud storage to back up my phone and photos. Purchased a new phone and went to download phtotos on new phone and only a portion of my photos are back on my new phone. How do I find all my photos and get them on my new phone

I purchased extra icloud storage to back up my phone and phots. Purchased a new phone and went to pull my photos from icloud and only a portion trasferred to my new phone. How do I get all of the photos moved to my new phone?

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud.  If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now).  Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.

  • How to view only specific authentication requests in access tracker

    Requirement:
How to view only "Healthy/Unhealthy" requests from a specific Webauth service.
    Solution:
If we have more than one Webauth service (based on conditions such as Device type or NAS IP or posture status etc) and we need only Healthy/Unhealthy requests from a specific service in access tracker for administrative use; we need to create a custom Data filter.
    Configuration:
Below are the steps to achieve the same:
Navigate to Monitoring > Data filters > Click on "Add" option to create a new filter
Specify a name on the "Filter" tab
Select the "Rule" tab to specify the unique condition (to filter the access tracker request)
          Create the below conditions:
                     ( Commonystem-Posture-Token CONTAINS Healthy )
                     -   AND   -   ( Commonervice CONTAINS Windows-health-check )
          5.        Save this filter
Now we can use this Data filter in access tracker to only view Healthy Webauth requests from "Windows-health-check" service.
    Verification
So now we can verify the output by looking at the access tracker.
At present we can see "Eight" webauth requests in access tracker. Now we want to see only Healthy web-auth request from "Windows-health-check" service.
We change the data filter to the Custom "healthy-filter" and now only see one request in access tracker as per our requirement.

  • IMac w/ CD-Burner only; how do I install 10.4.3?

I have two iMacs; one with a DVD reader, and one with a CD-Burner only. The 10.4.3 software is on DVD. How in the heck I am supposed to install the OS on the iMac with the CD-Burner? If Apple tells me I have to purchase a DVD drive, I am going to be EXTREMELY IRRITATED.
Is there any way to use my other iMac to host a network install?
    iMac 700Mhz G4 512MB RAM Mac OS X (10.4.3)
    iMac 700Mhz G4 512MB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Sweet. I like your setup. Do you have an ethernet
cable (or a firewire cable) for networking?
as long as you've got the cable, here's what you do:
    1. pop the DVD in the mac with a DVD drive, open disk
copy, and get it started making a READ/WRITE image of
    the DVD
    2. that'll take a while, so while it's going, get
BootCD from http://www.charlessoft.com/ and make a
boot CD that works for your mac without a dVD drive.
make sure to include these programs:
    nstaller
    Terminal
    Disk Utility
    Console
    3. burn your Boot disk
    4. if you want to do a clean install, back up, and
erase your disk on the destination mac (the one
without the DVD drive). otherwise, just continue.
    5. boot the destination mac from the cd you jsut
    made.
    6. if you have ethernet cable, connect the two macs
with ethernet cable (patch or crossover, doesn't
matter) and open the disk image on the DVD mac If
not, boot the DVD mac in target mode connected to the
    destination mac
    7. on the destination mac, connect to the DVD mac if
you haven't already. if using ethernet, you need
only mount the install disk image you made earlier.
if using Target mode, just mount the disk image
    now.
. navigate to /System/Installation/Packages/ on the
    install mount. open OSInstall.mpkg
    9. follow the instructions. if you're lucky,
everything will go smoothly, and you are on your way.
if you're not lucky, stuff will be wierd. if it
worked out, go ahead and clean up... delete the disk
image and stuff, reinstall apps, user data,
    whatever. IF NOt, continue on.
    0. if it doesn't work, that means one of the
packages is being troublesome. I've had trouble with
X11User and BaseSystem. X11 user can be installed
later, so we won't worry about it, but BaseSystem is
a bit of a trick. See, the problem generally is that
it's preflight script is looking for files that
aren't there. So you'll need to navigate to
    /System/Installation/Packages/BaseSystem.pkg/... and
find the preflight script, and edit it. pretty much
you'll need two lines left. the first line of the
file can stay. then go through and find a line that
says something about 'exit' and 0. (meaning exit and
return a success). Delete every line in the file
except this exit line and that first line up at the
very top. Save, and try installing again. If
something still doesn't work, check the console to
see what it says, and keep playing.
    11. Once you get it working, Clean up, and you're
    done
I've used this method to install 10.4 on my
iMac(350MHz CD-ROM) several times (twice actually),
and almost managed to make it work on my mom's beige
G3, except that her CD drive won't spin up, so I
would have had to boot of a ZIP disk. Have you ever
tried to fit an OS X boot system into 100MB?? it's
    next to impossible.
However, that doesn't mean I'm responsible for
anything you do to your mac. Really you should back
up before you get started, regardless of whether you
want to do a clean install or not, but that's just me.
Thank you very much for your instructions but I have just one iMac.
    Any other ideas?
    Thankx
