Burning onto a CD

Hi there
Sometimes I think iPhoto can be a little 'too organised'
I have created a folder in iphoto of my artwork and jewellery. I have burned these onto a CD for a gallery and when you open it (on a mac or a PC),there are a milion folders organised by date or whether it has been modified or not. It is driving me nuts. The gallery just want to open the CD and not have to sift through millions of date folders. How do I do this???
I just want to click on the CD and see All the thumbnail photos at the same
time.
(PS I'm not sure about which OS I have cos I am writing this not from my Mac!)

Simply, select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the files to a folder on the desktop. Then burn this folder with the Finder. Result, a single folder ful of pics.
What you have been doing is using the Share -> Burn command. This burns an entire library on to the disk and makes a disk that is readable for iPhoto. It’s a good way to back up.

Restore your library from your most recent backup (you do keep regular backups, I hope).  If the hard drive is in any way salvageable it may be possible to mount it in an external enclosure, connect it to your PC, and retrieve data from it even if it is not functioning as a primary OS drive (if you don't have the kit necessary to do this, your local PC repair shop may be able to help).  Failing that, you can always recreate your library by re-importing your CDs.

  • One song will NOT burn onto any cd

up until now i have never encountered such a problem. one song that i purchased from iTunes will not burn onto a cd. i've never had troubles before with any other song, just this one. i've tried complaining to the itunes help but i got some lame answer that didn't help at all. could it be possible to have the itunes store allow me to download it again without paying for it, i think they let me download a corrupt song. why would they do that?

My very strong advice is to give up. Certainly don't waste another second messing about with tags. I have not seen one scrap of evidence to suggest they have any effect.
From my experience, the only chance you have of getting it matched is to alter the waveform of your track so that it matches that on the store. I assume that yours is a different mastering or something. I'm no expert, bit I'd guess that your chances of hitting on the right adjustments could be best expressed as zero.

  • Burning onto DVD+RW or -RW

Hi Everyone, this has probably been addressed already but I'm having trouble finding the answer I need.
I don't seem to be able to burn onto dvd+rw or -rw's and mac help says that OSX 10.3.9 won't do it, should I upgrade to Tiger or is Toast 7 the only options?
Cheers for any help you can give!

    Phil:
Toast 6 or 7 Titanium will definitely burn the DVDs to which you refer, assuming, of course, that you have a DVD burner that will.
    Good luck.

  • Poor quality (vibration) on video clips when it burns onto DVD

We created 15 mins video on Final Cut Express, saved on Quick Time, and burned onto DVD. Although the video on Quick Time was fine, some of the quality of the video clips on DVD we burned was so poor....It had so much vibration on some of the video clips. We tried on both Best Performance & Best Quality, but they both had poor quality. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think upgrading to I Life 08 will help? Please Help!!!! Thanks!

It had so much vibration on some of the video clips.
Video on a DVD is mpg-2 compressed (which looks at frame to frame differences in compression) and is interlaced.
If you have content with lots of movement - like many hand-held shots - mpg-2 compression and interlacing will act to create lots of 'jumping' or 'vibration'. The only solution is to use a tripod and avoid shaky, hand-held shots.
BTW, for a short clip, 'Best Performance' will give you the best quality you can get.

  • Is there a way to change the settings to burn onto a DVD-R v2.1/1x-16x?

I have DVD SP v3 and I always used Sony DVD-R v2.0/1x-8x (120min/4.7gb), but now I can't find them and I've been told that they have been discontinued and can only buy DVD-R v2.1/1x-16x. Well... I can't seem to find a way to burn onto the higher speed DVD. What can I do?

    Hi:
    Wellcome to the forums!
If you mean if there is a way to change burning speed in DVDSP the answer is no: DVDSP allways burn at max available speed.
If you ant to control the burning speed and use a more reliable burning workflow, you can * Create a Disc Image in DVDSP * from your project and burn it using Toast and/or Disk Utility. In both cases you can change the burning speed.
    Hope that helps !

  • ITunes LP purchased and unable to burn onto a CD to play in my car?!?

iTunes LP purchased and unable to burn onto a CD to play in my car. I have searched and read every question in the Apple Support Communities and so far no answer has been given. Please help!

If the steps in the Apple article didn't solve the problem, some people have found the advice in this post works for them. I Think you can start at step 5 then 9.

I have not carried out this procedure myself so it is a good idea to read the thread for comments.

  • I have a ProRes HD mov file I'm trying to burn onto a DVD.

FYI, I'm using Final Cut Pro 7, not X.
I'm trying to burn onto a DVD a ProRes .mov. It want it to be first play. I've tried the compressing the format the MPEG2 and AC3...I still get the "Support not available" when trying to play it.
Am I missing something? Are my settings not correct in DVD Studio Pro? Am I not using the correct output formats?? What am I doing wrong?

  • I have home movies burned onto a DVD.  How do I get them into imovie?

I have home movies burned onto a DVD.  How do I get them into imove?

i assume you mean for editing.  in that case, you're going to need either some software or hardware to convert the signal from DVD to something that iMovie can handle.
there are a couple of devices out there that can convert sources like DVD, like a Canopus ADVC ($170), or the cheaper Elgato VCD ($85) that converts to mp4.  the main advantage of the Canopus is that i can convert from analog sources like VHS.
if you're just working from DVD sources, then DVDxDV software ($29) will probably do the trick and be the most reasonably priced option.
of course, these all are meant to be used for non-copyrighted DVDs -- they will not work on DVD's that have have copy protection, and no one here will discuss any illegal copying.

  • How to add one song to iphone from an album burn onto itunes from a cd

I have been trying for some time now to add an album from my Itunes onto my iphone. the album is not bought from itunes store but burn from a disk I own.
I have tried to add it by making a new playlist and syncing it, and I have tried to add it 'manually' after clicking on 'manually manage music etc'.
both times instead of just adding the music I have selected, it begins to 'back up' my iphone and sync on songs I have deleted ages ago!!! and APPS I have deleted ages ago! its very frustrating. Its as if it completely ignores my request and does whatever it wants.... I have followed the instructions on the apple help website but it does not work. can anyone help?? am I missing something?

The music sync is ONE WAY - computer to iphone.  The ONLY exception is itunes purchases.
You would have to use a third party program, not supported by Apple, if you wanted to do this.
