Burning purchased music loses playlist

when I burn purchased music from itunes, the file info, artist, song name etc is all lost, just track numbers on the new disc...i do not have this problem burning songs I have ripped from cds i own, so settings must be right.
any ideas?
second thing...
I can not convert itunes purchased files to any other format, and the default format being burned my home and car cd player does not recognize...any ideas on that one?
thank you.

rolexman111,
Second thing first:
The iTMS sells copy-protected .m4p files that can only be listened to on an authorized computer.
Furthermore, the files cannot be converted to other formats.
As the previous link suggests, though, what you can do is burn an Audio CD of the purchased music and listen to that CD or use it in any way you would a "normal" CD.
EDIT:
Ooops, I forgot about the first thing ...
What's unusual is that you say you were able to view the song information previously because iTunes does not put that information into burned Audio CD's.
Have a look at:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607302&#607302
Is it possible you were burning data CD's previously?

Ever since installing 7.0.2 I can no longer burn purchased music to CD. Music I ripped from my own CDs burns just fine.
Data from desktop burns fine as well as music from other programs such as sonic and Windows Media Player. Actually iTunes worked fine until I upgraded to 7.0.2 from 6

I have downloaded latest firmware, updated drivers, re installed IDE/ATA, Reinstalled iTunes, Re installed CD burner, tried every burn speed from fastest down to 1x, Turned off spam & spyware, turned off firewall, turned off virus prtection made, Made sure IMAP CD settings are set to automatic and started.
Nothing works. I'm at my wits end and getting very frustrated because I have hundreds of dollars of purchased music that is now stuck on my computer and won't burn.

I don't understand, we buy this music for a buck a piece, and then when you want to make an mp3 cd to play in your car, like i have( i can make one cd with 150 songs)or what ever , we can't even do that. I also have an ipod but i don't bring it into my car all the time. I thought that because we are buying the music and technically we own them, that we can use the music which ever way that you want. And now we have to buy a converter if we want to make mp3 cd's. I have resorted to spending my money on cd's to make cd's of my protected files, just to rip them back on my computer again as an mp3 song, remove the protected songs, and all this to do what i thought we could do with our purchases music because, oh i don't know, call me crazy, we were able to before!!! All i now see is that we have to spend money to get our music to spend money to change our music to use it the way we want to, to spend our money to make our own cd's. The operative words, spending our money. Does anyone find this absolutely rediculous? Anyone ever hear the phrase "Don't fix it if it ain't broke"? Anyone else frustrated?

  • Burning Purchased Music - Help!

Anyone who has time to help, I would greatly appreciate it!
    Issue:
Any attempt to burn purchased music to CD results in a disc that will not play in any of 4 CD players I own (home stereo, car, portable, etc.)
    Facts:
--Audio CD is checked in Preferences
    --Using Sony media
--Have tried Burning/Ripping back to iTunes/Burning technique
--Have tried Burning ripped tracks through Toast
--Have not exceeded 7 burn limit
    20" iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am using CD-R. I tried a different brand of media...same result. The cd players seem to recognize the disc and display the right amount of tracks and time, but there is no audio...
    Any other ideas?

  • HOW TO RECREATE "PURCHASED" MUSIC (history) PLAYLIST

ITunes on my Mac used to first create and then maintain automatically a separate playlist in my Music Library that kept track of all purchased music over time. It was very handy to have this feature.
I've just noticed that for some reason, perhaps on account of a recent software update (??), that playlist has simply disappeared without my deleting it. The purchased music seems to be still all there in the main library window all right, but it was convenient to have ITunes automatically keep track of ALL purchased music in one handy playlist.
Is there an automatic way to recreate this playlist on my own computer ?

That's not going to work if you start buying iTunes Plus music. Look for something else you can use, too. Like "protected AAC file" and "iTunes Plus AAC" file -- hopefully in the file kind Apple has left a label that indicates it's not just an "AAC" file, but an "iTunes Plus AAC" file.
As a last resort, iTunes Plus music is encoded at 256kbps bit-rate, so you could set up your "Purchases" smart playlist to include 256kbps AAC files to cover iTunes Plus. Of course that won't work if you encode any of your own CDs at that rate.
If you delete iTunes and re-install, you'll lose all your playlists. If you back up your Music folder -- of course, but I mean the iTunes prefs and playlists, too -- and restore it, then you'll get all your playlists back, but again losing the Purchased music playlist.
Frankly, the Purchased playlist should be set up like the Party Shuffle list: you shouldn't be able to delete it.

  • How do I burn purchased music to DVD

I tried doing it straight from iTunes and it wouldn't play on my dvd player. Any suggestions?

James, in addition to what macmenno has said you should also know that the only types of DVD disc iTunes will burn are data DVDs. This is why the disc would not play in your DVD player, there was no information on the disc readable by the player. iTunes will only burn audio to 74 or 80 minute CD-R.
You can use Roxio Toast to burn DVD Music discs from unprotected audio content, although these are not DVD-Audio discs, which is another format different from DVD Music.

  • Unable to burn purchased music

    Hi there.
Just downloaded the latest version of itunes today.
    However....
Am getting a message when trying to burn purchased songs to a disc saying "None of the files can be burned to an mp3 disc".
I never had this problem before when had the older verison of itunes.
Is it because they are protected aac tracks, and if so is there anyway around this?
    Cheers and thanks in advance.

    Hi "shawn1982",
You can't burn AAC tracks to an MP3 CD - you need to change your burn settings to Data CD/DVD in order to do this.
    Hope this helps,
    -Travis

  • Burning Purchased Music

I am having trouble burning my purchased songs to CD's. I have added them to an existing playlist and it starts to burn ok then stops and says unable to burn to CD as copy protected.
    What can I do?

I would drag the folder on top of the Library in iTunes. That way iTunes will import the tunes and take care of file management and housekeeping. Check to make sure "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder" is checked in the General tab of the Advanced section of iTunes' Preferences. iTunes will copy the songs from the folder on the shared drive, so after you know everything is imported ok, the folder on the shared drive is no longer needed unless you want to keep it as a backup.
If "Play songs while importing" is checked in the Importing section of Advanced Preferences, then as soon as one song is imported it will automatically try to start playback. You should then have to authorize that song. If it is not checked, then after everything is imported you can double-click on a song to start it playing and then authorize the computer.
Also, if the computers are on a network, you probably don't have to transfer any songs. Open Preferences on both machines and under the Sharing tab check off "Look for shared music" and "Share my music". Under "Share my music" you can choose all or you can select certain playlists. A computer on a network told to look for music will see what has been selected to be shared on another computer on the network.

  • Burning purchased music to cd

i have seen other posts regarding this, but haven't seen a solution yet. Is there a period of time between purchasing and burning a cd? I have made sure that it goes down as a audio cd due to the fact that the song has AAC. I did a diagnostic on it but not really sure what I should be looking for. All the other songs that were already on my computer downloaded fine, except the one i just purchased. You would think that would be the one without a problem.
Please help me as my son is freaking out about this as music is his life.

I've found that checking the Sound Check checkbox in the Burning preferences (as well as making sure that you have selected Audio CD) makes the CD more universally readable. I have no idea what Sound Check actually does -- other than making the CD play in more car stereos.

  • Burn Purchased Music CD No Track Names

I'm upgrading a few purchased songs to iTunes + and want to copy them to a second authorized PC. The track names show up on the CD when I burn them on the first PC but when I insert the CD into the second PC, I get the msg "Could not find track names, do you still want to import them?" Looks like GraceNote trys to name but cannot. I have the Audio CD and Text boxes checked when I burn. How can I get the track names, etc without manually typing them. TIA

I will not be able to play the Data CD on any other cd player?
No, a data CD, since it's just computer data, cannot be played on any normal CD player. CD players with some exceptions can only play Redbook-standard audio CDs, which is what iTunes burns when you select the Audio CD option.
basically the Data burning is used for transferring songs from one itunes library to another.
Burning as a data CD is for transfer and for making backups.
The audio is used for having a cd to play outside of itunes.
For playing on any player that can only handle standard CDs. This could include a home or car CD player, a DVD player (many if not all of which can play audio CDs), or some other computer that doesn't have a player that can handle the format of the tracks (particularly the copy protection on some tracks from the iTunes Store).

  • Burning Playlists that include Purchased Music

I've been trying to download playlists that include purchased songs, but everytime I click Burn, iTunes crashes. If I removed the purchased song, it works fine.
We are allowed to burn purchased music correct?
    Suggestions?

You should collect a crash log and send it to Apple so that the engineers can look at it.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log" If there's already a file there, it most likely has multiple crash logs in it (new crash logs are just appended to the end of the file). So, delete this file. This will make sure you're not sending extra information to Apple that they don't need.
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. Send this file and your CD diagnostics to the apple moderator. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.

  • Purchased music disappeared after Match turned off?

Ok so for various reasons I have turned off Match for my iPhone 5 and synced my physical music library onto my phone (4024 songs), however i've discovered that none of my purchased music or playlists will sync to my phone. All the said purchased music has been unchecked and check again on my iTunes library, and the iPhone menu on itunes has 4024 songs checked to be synced. When I do sync the phone however only 2745 songs actually transfer to the phone, the remainder are my purchased songs. I have only had this issue since the ios7 update. Anyone help?

There is no message in my inbox nor the notification center. Maybe I turned the phone off while it was downloading the message?
