Burning several games onto 1 DVD?

I've been thinking alot. I have a couple of CD's to the same game, but now CD nr 3 is getting really scratchy, so I want to make a copy of it. I tried with a disc image but I need to have the CD injected to be able to play with it. So I was planning on burning it onto a CD.
But then it hit me, what if I am able to burn all 4 CD's onto just 1 DVD! Then I won't have to change disc all the time.
Anyone know if this will work? All the CD's can fit on a DVD but will 4 CD's show up when I inject it?

Hi Petter,
depending on the game with which you want to try this, there are several possibilities what will happen:
1. the game will still ask for the different CDs as it is recognizing the different CDs by their respective name (e.g. CD 1; CD2; etc.)
2. you are not able to copy the CDs onto the DVD as the CDs have some sort of Copy-Protection which prevents this.
3. it will work...
If I were you I would try as follows:
Copy the content of the CDs to a folder on your harddisk;
when done copy the content of the folder (not the folder itself) to a DVD-RW and use the name of the first CD as the name of the DVD.
(I would propose a DVD-RW, so if the action fails, you can it again for other things).
Good Luck and please keep us informed of the outcome of this.
Stefan

I am trying to burn a slideshow onto a dvd that will play on a standard dvd and tv

You can't just copy the slideshow to a DVD as, you've found out, that won't play on a TV. You need to use a program that will render it into DVD format, complete with the proper lead in and trailers. I use Toast to do that, however, there are other programs that can do that too.

How do I burn a video onto a dvd out of imovie 11?
Also the program churns and churns, till I'm able to do something else. Why so slow? Is there any render button?

Here is a step by step on how to create a DVD from iMovie 10 using iDVD 7.1.2. If you do not have iDVD, you can probably substitute Toast (or one of the programs Pieter mentioned) everywhere I used iDVD (I don't have Toast so can't verify this).
    1. Create a project in iMovie 10.0.1
    2. Go to File>Share>File... and for Size choose Large 540P (960 x 540) and click Next
    3. Choose a location on the hard drive to save the file to.
    4. Wait for the blue circle activity indicator to finish.
    5. In Finder, verify that iMovie created an MP4 file in the location specified in step 3.
    6. Open iDVD and click "Create New Project."
    7. Give the project a name and save it to your hard drive.
    8. Drag the file you created earlier from the Finder into your iDVD project window.
(or go to File>Import>Video... and choose your video there)
    9. Make any adjustments to drop zones, etc.
    10. Click the burn button.
    11. Insert a DVD and let it do its thing.
This produces a working DVD for me.
    Here are my software specs:
    OS X 10.9 Mavericks
    iMovie 10.0.1

  • Burning several "slideshows / Movies" to DVD

I would like to know if it is possable to burn several short "slideshows / movies" to a single DVD and if you can, how to do it.

Yes, the only consideration would be the total Duration of the SlideShows.
Now, much of the workflow will depend on how the SlideShows have been produced. If you have have several SlideShow Projects already, go to each one, and Export/Share to DV-AVI files w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio. Then, start a new DV Project, Import those DV-AVI files into it, and author with Menus, etc., and Burn to Disc.
If one has yet to start, then the SlideShows can be assembled onto one Timeline, and one would just author that to DVD.
When working with still images, I would strongly suggest Scaling the images in PS/PSE, before Importing into PrE. This ARTICLE will give you tips. Also, if the SlideShows were created in PSE, then one can Export to Premiere Elements, and if more editing is necessary, they can Break Apart the PSE SlideShow.
Where are you in the process, as that might direct you in one way, or another?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

Hello everyone, I've seen this question asked in other forum postings, but I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for. • Can I burn TV shows onto a DVD?

If I bought a show off of iTunes can I put it onto a DVD? Say I want to watch them in a DVD player is there a way of doing that?

You can archive any purchases you make on the iTunes Store to CD/DVD. However, the copy protection built into the video content prevents you from being able to burn a DVD that you could play in a DVD player. Sorry.

Tutorial: Burning QuickTime Movies to a DVD using the Burn utility.
Here is a quick 3 step tutorial on how to burn a QuickTime movie into a self-playing DVD.
Step 1: Click the Video tab and name your DVD.
Launch the Burn utility, and in the main window:
    Select the Video tab.
    Name your DVD
Choose "DVD" from the pop-up menu.
Step 2: Drag your QuickTime movies into the file list.
Drag some video files right into the Burn file list. Most video files are supported, however some protected QuickTime files may not work. If they are not in the correct format for DVD, Burn will ask to convert them to the right format. Most of your movies will require conversion.
Once you click "Yes" you'll be prompted to tell Burn where you want to save the converted movies. In that save dialog box, in you live in North America, make sure the NTSC format is selected (Read about PAL format).
Note: This conversion process can take some time depending on the size of your movie, and the speed of your Mac.
Step 3: Click the Burn button and insert a blank DVD.
Your computer will display a dialog indicating the DVD is burning. When it's done, eject the disc and try it out in your TV's DVD player.
    Enjoy.

  • Burning iTunes playlists onto a DVD

I want to burn playlists from iTunes onto a DVD, primarily for backup purposes. But also, to give get them into another...PC...computer.
    I have iDVD 5, running Panther (10.3.9)
I was told I could do this and it would work basically the same was as burning to a CD. Just “dragging” a playlist or playlists onto the DVD.
However, when I went to iDVD help menu, it said:
+You can also drag music files from the Finder to the menu or to the Audio well in the Settings pane, *but you can't drag playlists directly from the iTunes application.+*
    What’s the story?
    Thanks in advance

    Ok, but
I was told you could use DVDs to backup virtually anything on your computer. Documents, photos and music.
iDVD would seem to be one thing....but a DVD quite another. So I think I'm starting to "get it."
For what I want to do, I would simply "drag" a playlist out of iTunes, onto the desktop, and from there drag said playlist onto the DVD. And I would have it. The tunes would then be able to be used as "backups" or to "play" on a DVD player, or to copy onto another computer...Mac or PC.
Actually, for my purposes, wouldn't I simply drag the playlist "from" iTunes onto the DVD? And skip the going to desktop process?
    Am I right on this?
    thanks again

  • Burning Purchased Movies onto a DVD

If I purchase and download a movie from the iTunes store, can I burn that movie to a DVD the same way that a burn or back-up my music to a CD? Also, if I put the movie onto a DVD, will it play in a DVD player?

Not exactly, to anyone reading the Terms of Service, it's not all that apparent really. Here's what the Terms say:
"(vi) You shall not be entitled to burn video Products or ring tone Products.
(vii) You shall be entitled to export, burn (if applicable) or copy (if applicable) Products solely for personal, noncommercial use. "
To me, this just tells me that I can't burn video products, but then contradicts itself saying that I CAN burn video products, but only for personal use (in other words, the standard rules of not reselling or distributing videos, as all videos state in the beginning)...
I did read the Terms before making those purchases, and they are not very clear. So with this in mind, I do blame Apple for not stating the terms more clearly...

  • Burning a movie onto a dvd

I made a 4 minute movie on imovie. I want to burn it onto a dvd so it can be viewed on a dvd player or on another computer. How do I do it?

You need to use an authoring program to burn a DVD disk that can be played on both computers and DVD players. That is what the iLife application iDVD is designed to do. Use it. The basic process is that you open iDVD and create a new project. You will need to select standard or widescreen. Once iDVD opens, go to its Preferences and select PAL or NTSC depending on where you live. In the US, you need to use NTSC. Next choose a theme. Then use the Movies tab to locate your iMovie and drag/drop your iMovie into the main menu of iDVD. You can customize the font type, size and color in your iDVD project. When you have finished editing the project, you can either create a disk image file of it and burn disks from that using Disk Utility, or you can just insert a blank DVD disk and burn it directly.
Be sure to use a good brand of DVD disk such as Verbatim, Maxell, Sony or Taiyo Yuden; not store brands, TDK or Memorex.
Also, select a burn speed of 4x or less.
Have a look at the iDVD tutorial for the version you are using so that you can learn how to use iDVD:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ilife/tutorials/idvd/index.html
This one is for iDVD 6, but iDVD 8/9 are not that different.

  • How do I burn multiple projects onto one DVD?

I have several projects saved that are small enough to fit on one DVD.  Not sure, though, if I burn project #2 after project 1 has been burned, whether the software is smart enough to keep them separate and not over-write project #1.

    Dave0518
Once you have burned a Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO format on DVD-R disc, the disc is finalized and you cannot burn a second time on that same disc (no multisessions). Even if you use a DVD-RW disc, the program will erase what is on the disc before burning anything to it.
Now, if you have 3 projects and you want to combine them to be part of one DVD-VIDEO on DVD, then you need to remember that you cannot import a project (project.prel) into another project.prel. So, you have going to have to export the Timeline of each of the projects to a file. The file type selected should be consistent with the goals of the project. To be discussed in more details if necessary. Then each file is brought into a new project (set with the appropriate project preset) which is burned to DVD VIDEO on DVD disc.
Stop markers at the end of each of the first two files is done. But, never place a stop marker at the end of the last file on the Timeline. It is not needed and can cause problems in the project.
Please consider and let us know if you need clarification on anything written.
    Thank you.
