Burning Stops

Hey everyone,
I recently tried to update Itunes through the installer, but an error occurred and then Itunes seemed to be on an earlier version and had all sorts of problems. I uninstalled it, downloaded and reinstalled Itunes and Quicktime. Yesterday was the first day since then I've tried to burn a cd - which has always worked perfectly in the past - and while burning the first song the chime sounded that happens once the process is finished and the cd came up, but only the first few seconds of the first song were playable. Also, my drive would not open until I rebooted my computer. I've tried three times and the same thing happened. I then tried with another program and it burned the cd perfectly. I will post my diagnostic and hopefully someone can help me.
Thanks

The last failed audio CD burn had error code 4450(0x00001162). It happened on drive D: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S162A on CDR media at speed 32X.
It says I burned at 32X, but I had 8X selected.

Sorry I just seen where you said there was 518 songs in this playlist you was burning, just make sure you have a playlist with only the 10 songs you want burned.
I don't think the problem will be with the blank CD brands per se because the error -128 noted in your diagnostic report means you or iTunes itself cancelled the burning process before any burning actually happened. It usually does this when theres some software or hardware conflict on the PC. iTunes unlike many other programs that run on windows tends to be very picky and you want to make sure your CD burner has the latest firmware updates from the PC makers web site
If you are sure your firmware is current, and you have slowed the burn speed in iTunes and still get this issue you may find this artical about modifying filters helpful http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976

  • After installing the latest version of Itunes, I am having trouble burning a playlist to CD.  CD burner stops and cancels burn giving me an unknown error.

After I installed the latest ITunes update, I am unable to burn a playlist to a CD.  It stops shortly after it starts to burn and gives me an error message but no explanation.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)

  • DVD burn stops at 66%.

I have been able to burn DVD's for a while now but all of a sudden on one project it began stopping at 66%. Now I can't get any of my project to get past 66%. I have tried to paste it into a new project. I have tried adding a still to the menu.

I had the same problem until I realized I was editing in HD after years of editing Standard DVD video.  My hard drive was formated for 32bit and can only record up to 4 GB per file.  I had to take one of my hard drives and reformat it to the journal setting so there are no blocks which leaves the entire hard drive of a 2TB unit to record those unbeleavable HD movies.  The mov I was trying to take to IDVD was 26GB and it recoreded all the way this time.  I DVD will automatically dreduce it to fit on a standard DVD.
Whats rediculous is that every one records in HD now because they can but give little thought as to how its going to be edited.  Standard DVD looks great when played on a blue ray and no professionals dont want to pay the extra fee to edit and take it to blue ray as many people dont have Blue ray yet.
Other problems can also stop your recording like a bad still photo file or one that is still in a raw state and not formated.
    Hope this helps.

  • Won't burn, stops after encoding, then freezes, why?

Hi, I am unable to burn my iMovie project that I "shared" with iDVD. I have tried using a dvd -R and +R, and they both stop right after the "Process Movie" stage, the nothing happens, then it freezes and I have to force quit. So, it never even reaches the "burn" stage.
    Can someone help?

    Hi jessica:
Please don't let iDVD fool you!
iDVD appears to be unresponsive when encoding Audio

Turn off all other applications, set the mac to "never sleep" and
leave it alone overnight to burn.
iDVD takes a great deal of patience.

  • Photos get auto-cropped and ken burns. stop it.

Trying to do a stop motion. don't need the photos to movie. Cant get imovie to stop auto cropping and ken burns-ing the photos on import from iphoto. Would be fine, but i can't bulk adjust them either, tired of going through frame by frame and putting it back to fit. help.

When you start a new project, or to change a project you are currently working on, go to FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES, and you can change the default behaviour for initial photo placement from Ken Burns to either FIT or CROP. Crop will make the photo fit the frame exactly by cropping off the top abd bottom. FIT will make the entire photo fit by letterboxing.
If you make your photos have the same aspect ratio as your project (either 16:9 or 4:3), then FIT and CROP produce the same result, and nothing is lost from the photo.
The FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES will only change photos that you add going forward.
To change a bunch of photos that are already there, change one photo using the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool. Then, with the photo still selected, EDIT/COPY.
Now, select all the photos you want to change by holding down the Command Key as you click, so you can select multiple photos.
    Now, click EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS.../CROP ADJUSTMENTS.

  • Dodge and Burn Stopped Working

My dodge and burn tools have stopped working. If some one could help me find out why this might be? My photoshop (CS6) is new and was only installed yesterday. I edited some photos yesterday and the dodge and burn was working but now it is not.

make sure you have a layer highlighted in the layers pallet that can be dodged/burned (they may not work on some type of layers, modes)
    or try reset the tool:

  • Burns stopping at multiplex with an error. How can I fix this?

Hi. I'm using iDVD 7.1.1 (the latest update) in Mac OS 10.6.7 on a four-year-old MacBook Pro. Lately when I burn a video, either directly or a disc image, the burn process stops at multiplexing, and an error sign appears. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it? Thanks.

    Hi
This is a very complex question.
    • Turn on TV-Safe area - Any buttons outside or just touching this - if so move them inside.
    • use of strange video and audio file /codec format eg .avi, .wmv, .mp3 etc.
    I use
Video - StreamingDV (as from miniDV tape Cameras)
Audio - .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or .aiff from CD-records - Nothing directly from iTunes (Burn to Audio-CD first)
If nothing of this I send a "mile" long list of possibly origins to this.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Burning stops on first song

Hi, when I burn a CD, it starts going... but then it stops while it's still burning! It's not finished burning, and I'm starting to run out of my CD-R's because of the problem. I've tried starting off the CD with a non-bought song, with the burn limit, but it still doesn't work! Help!

    Hello, Welcome to discussions.
I have a couple suggestions and links to provide further info. As you are low on CDs right now you may wish to follow some of the steps not requiring the burning of a CD till you are ready
-Download and update your Windows Update Software.
    http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
-Check your computer manufactures website for updates to your computer hardware and software. They may have a firmware update for the CD Burnable drive

  • Burner stopped working all of a sudden!!!

I tried to burn a cd today from iTunes and got this error:
"itunes can't burn this cd because the burn speed is too fast for your cd burner or media."
keep in mind i have not changed any settings since i last successfully burned a disk, and i have not changed any hardware or installed new software (except Second Life, the game), and i'm using the same cds i've always used. the only thing i can think of is that something got goofed when i moved all my music over to an external hd (i can't recall if i have burned a disk since i did that). but in testing that theory i did a few things:
    1) copied the music i wanted to burn onto the local drive and tried to burn it with toast, and couldn't do it either. Got this error:
    "sense key = MEDIUM ERROR
    sense code = 0x73, 0x03"
    2) tried to burn just regular files (also on my local hd, and with all the same setups), and that failed as well.
i have cleared all the cache, emptied the trash, run disk utility (twice), and still nothing is working. i'm out of ideas. it was working fine, now it's not. what gives!!??
Note: one other weird thing i found lately is that i'll put a blank disk in, and it will show the image of the disk mounted, and even when i take the disk out, it will still show it mounted, and if i put in another disk, then it shows TWO disks, and so on. Not sure if that's related in any way, but thought i'd throw it out there.
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!

    I found this
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1883046&#1883046
interestingly, my external is also a lacie.
but that was not resolved either and is closed to new posts. so... =\
    Help? Anyone? Puh-lease?

  • DVD/CD burner stopped working

I've been happily burning CDs and DVDs over the past 11 months and suddenly I keep getting the error:
"The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
Im using the same media, using itunes and I cant get it to work?
any ideas? faulty drive I guess?

The lens is probably dirty, try running a CD/DVD cleaner disc through it.

  • Burning stops in idvd 6

    Hi
I am currently trying to burn a 110 minute movie using idvd6, when it gets half way through the actual burning process (after all encoding etc has been done) i get the spinning beachball? I cant work out what the problem is - The mac is old but I have successfully burnt 105 min movies before and haven't ever had the spinning beachball. I have a double layer burner and am using verbatim discs? any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Nikki

    Welcome NikkiAH
We need to see complete details on your G4 mac system. Please fill in your profile info. It makes it much easier for us to help you troubleshoot your system.
The first item that comes to mind is lack of Hard Drive space. How much HD space is currently remaining on the startup HD?
What kind of media are you using? I recommend Verbatim / Maxell and burning from a disc image at 4x or slower using apple's disc utilities or roxio toast. Is this what you are doing?
If you have good DVD-R media and at least 25GB's of HD space on the boot volume (startup drive) and it's still not working, then please drag and drop the plist for iDvd to the trash and resart the computer.

  • My DVD player/burner stopped working

I have 10.5.8 non-intel and it just ejects every DVD that I put in it.  I have an LG Portable external drive, but the CPU only acknowledges it about 7 per cent of the time.  Is there a way to de-activate the drive so that the external is more easily recognized, or an affordable brand of external DVD drive that will be more friendly with this mac?  Thanks in advance

I suspect that the external optical drive has a mechanical and/or electronic problem, as opposed to having a compatibility issue with your G5.  I've got many different external optical drives/burners (by a variety of manufacturers) and the only problem (if any) with a Mac would be bootability.  Reading disks is not typically a problem, and burning disks (with "Toast") is trouble-free.  Other World Computing has this external DVD±RW drive, which has every connection option you'd need.  If you want a Blu-ray drive, there are a several from which to choose on this page.
There is no way (or need) to disable the internal optical drive with a control panel, as one might do with the Device Manager in a PC or with BIOS settings.  The compatibility of the OEM internal drive doesn't diminish the System's capability to recognize an external drive.

  • External dvd burner stopped working

Hi, have an older imac -installed tiger os a while back worked fine- bought a LaCie external cd/dvd burner worked fine until this am 12/29 when THE COMPUTER TURNED ITSELF OFF!! (no human intervention, no power outage) restarted computer which functioned fine- hooked up LaCie and imac would not recognize burner(couldn't bring it down on menu)very bizarre Hope this makes sense to someone Thanks

If possible, try to use the drive on another computer, just to make sure it is still working ok. Even a PC is good for testing, since you just want to make sure it is ok.
Try resetting the PRAM, by restarting the Mac and immediately holding down the CMD, Option, P and R keys simultaneously (CMD is the cloverleaf/apple key) before the "bong" sound. Keep them down for at least three "bong"s, then let the system finish starting up. Plug the drive, pop a prerecorded CD/DVD and see if it mounts. You can use Disk Utility to check if the system "sees" the unit, or you can also run System Profiler for that purpose.

  • Burn Stops In iDVD After Edit In FCP Burn Stops In iDVD After Edit In FCP

    Hi: I'm using FCP Pro5 and idvd4 OSX 10.3.9.
I have a quicktime movie file (movie is 8 minutes of video/audio and QT file is 10.4GB in size) from a previous edit that imports and burns fine in iDVD.
I imported the file into FCP -, made a quick edit with 2 dissolves, rendered, saved, exported to Quicktime using the File/Export/Export to Quicktime routine (file icon looks different and does not have a .mov after it, 1.87GB size), imported into iDVD and tried to burn to again using both the Hutz/Purz (spelling) method of saving to a disk image and burning to a disk - goes through to Step 3: Encoding Assets, works for a while, and unexpectedly quits.
Any suggestions welcome as the project is due today. Thank you.

Sorry for the confusion, but I'm confused (obviously). I'm not sure what you mean what format am I exporting - my understanding is that FCP has the option to export the sequence I produced to a Quicktime movie that can be used with iDvd or DVSP. Our Media 100 show was exported to a quicktime file, which I put into FCP and am now trying to export as a Quicktime movie. Again - sorry for the lack of knowledge but I'll try to supply you with specifics if you can let me know what and where to find the specifics you need to help. TIA
