Burning to disc from DVR

is it possible? i saw there was a tivo software from roxio i belive. i was wondering if i'd be able to plug my DVR into my macbook to import stuff to burn to disc. the DVR has an output to go to a DVD recorded, but i don't want to buy one if i can do it with my macbook.

The Roxio Popcorn software provides two things--the ability to retrieve files from the TiVo and the ability to convert them into several different formats (MPEG4, etc.). The TiVo files are MPEG2 files with some additional proprietary information. They often can be played in Quicktime but so far I've never been able to hear the audio stream. Conversion by Popcorn turns the TiVo native files into fully compliant MPEG4 files (or desired format). Pulling files off the recorder can also be accomplished with Safari via https (search via Google) or the open source program TiVoDecode Manager. So far, though, I've needed Roxio's Popcorn to convert to fully compliant formats.
Once you have the compliant formats (MPEG4, etc.) then you can burn them to DVD if you like.

I can't burn a disc from Itunes without getting error 4280 repeatedly. I was just able to burn a CD and now can't burn another. Any thoughts? I know my CD burner works as I just made a disc. I have tried changing file type from Audio to MP3 with no luck. Thanks for trying to help me.

    Hello Sonni,
It sounds like you are unable to burn a disc with iTunes due to this error code. I would first use the following article to check issues with the type of disc drive:

  • I can't burn a disc from iTunes download....error 2131

error message 2131 stops me from burning a disc from my recent iTunes download.  How can I get around this or fix this ......Windows XP.

The 2131 is usually related to out-of-date firmware on certain types of DVD/CD drives. But we'd better doublecheck that.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:

No, this standard has been implemented for several decades.
How iTunes remembers audio CDs - http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27785
It is just conceivable you burned a CD that exactly matched one already in the Gracenote database.  Gracenote uses track count and duration to decide what CD it is you have in a computer.  If you have one that matches that it will label it.  You could conceivably even have one that matches it that is not the correct one.

That is an odd message - what exactly are you trying to burn? A disk of mp3 files? a music disc? What burner do you have connected to your computer?

  • Receiving "internal error" when trying to burn mp3 disc from playlist

I'm trying to burn an mp3 disc from a playlist that I've created. Unfortunately, I keep getting an error. I'm currently running iTunes 11.0.2 on my iMac which is currently running 10.8.3.  I've done this many times before, and this is the first that I've had this problem. Here's the error I keep getting:
The attempt to burn a disc failed. An internal error occured.
If you want to retry the current failed burn, click on Retry. If you want to go to the next disc burn, click on Next. Otherwise click on Cancel.
    Here's how it goes down:
I've created a very long playlist which will require the use of multiple discs.
I right-click on the playlist and select to burn the playlist to disc.
I then get the usual burn settings pop-up menu where I select the "MP3 CD" format with a preferred speed of "Maximum Possible"
Note: Since experiencing this error, I have tried varried speeds ranging from 8x to 24x; I still get the error.
Note Also: I have tried selecting "Audio CD" instead, and the playlist will burn and the error does not appear. This is not an option I want to go with, however, because of the length of the playlist — it would take, like, 25 discs...
For a moment iTunes will read the disc, then ask permission for the playlist to be split across multiple discs. I say "ok".
At this point, iTunes will say that it is initiallizing for about a split second then immediately say it's finalizing and spit out the disc. This is when the error pops up.If I select to "Retry", it doesn't retry to burn; it just saves a .txt file to my desktop that is  a copy of the error message. There's no error code/number or anything, though - just the exact same message. "Cancel" and "Next" seem to behave correctly, though.
I have tried repairing disk permissions and restarting my computer. I've also tried using different brands of CDs: Memorex CD-R and Innovera CD-R. The error persists.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Disk Utility Unable to Correctly Burn Bootable Discs From ISO Files with Yosemite (10.10.1)

My problem is with burning ISO images to make a bootable DVD disc with OSX 10.10.1. I cannot drag and drop an ISO file (in this case, Ubuntu 14.04 server iso) to the disk utility and then burn it with Yosemite.  I have to first open the ISO file, then attempt to burn it.  The DVD it creates is unreadable. I tried to convert the ISO file to CDR and also IMG - same problem: disc unreadable error.
I then went back to OSX 10.9.5 and tried the same thing - worked like a champ.  I was able to drag and drop the ISO file into the Disk Utility window and successfully burn a bootable DVD disc from the same Ubuntu ISO file I tried using with 10.10.1.
Hey Apple, what's up?  You broke Disk Utility in 10.10.1.  Has anyone experienced the same problem and found a work-around?  I hate to have to keep booting an older version of OSX to accomplish this task.  So far, Yosemite has been a bust for me with all the other problems I have experienced.  I might as well go back to 10.9.5 on all my Macs until Apple gets their act together with Yosemite.

  • DVD SP keeps burning the disc from wrong project

I recently updated an older DVD SP project. In simulation, it looks fine, but when I burn the disc, it burns the most recent project that isn't even open. I tried trashing the files to the wrong project, even the .m2v files for it, and created a special folder for it, but it still burns the complete wrong project to the DVD!
    What is happening?

    >  Does DVD SP store a VIDEO_TS folder somewhere?<
Yes, it goes to the locatiokn you have selected when building the project. You also should see a "use this source" dialog for the build and it is pointing to the wrong folder or that folder contains the wrong stuff. Sorry, I'm not at my DVDSP machine this morning to look this up for you precisely. But you should be able to locate your TS folders with a simple Finder or Spotlight search then filter by date.
BTW: I think we've all been bitten by this at one time. If you do enought DVD projects, you eventually lose your TS resources or ut them in the wrong place. It's an interesting and frustrating lesson because the files are not handled like FCP media.

  • HT204308 Trying to burn a disc from iTunes

Some of the tunes I want to burn to disc were purchased using an old email address (ISP provider) which I no longer have access to. How can I overcome this please?  TIA

Even if the email is no longer working, you should be able to reset the password so you can authorize those old tracks to play and burn.  Go to this page:

  • Following new motherboard and cd/dvd reconnection, when i try to burn a disc from itunes I now get the message "The Registry settings used by itune drivers for importing and burning CD's

Basically we had a new motherboard fitted, we then found our CD/DVD drive had not been reconnected.  After this has been done, when we try to burn a cd from itunes, we get the following message:-
The Registry settings used by itune drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  Reinstall Itunes.
I've removed and reinstalled itunes a few times now and we still have the same issue.  HELP please.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • When burning a disc from my iTunes, I want to shorten the one song i am burning...HOW?

I am trying to shorten a song that I am burning from iTunes onto a disc...How do I do this?

Highlight the song, File > Get Info, go to the Options tab, set the Start and Stop times where you want, and OK out.
Back in your library, File > Get Info again, Create AAC (or MP3) version.
That creates a new short version.  In the playlist you are about to burn, replace the original version with the short version.  Then burn.

  • Burn MP3 disc from IPOD software?

I have amassed my library of MP3 files into the Itunes library folder.
Then I created a playlist and tried to use the "Burn disc" option..... assuming that since these were MP3 files, it would burn an MP3 disc.
IT WON'T, it burns a standard WAV audio CD with the miniscule capacity compared to MP3.
How can I get the ITunes software to burn the playlist of songs to a CD in MP3 format?
Can I still use the song sequence feature of the playlist allowing me to move song positions in making an MP3 disc? (assuming it's possible to make an MP3 disc)
I have scoured the Apple site for support articles and found absolutely nothing on IPOD burning of a CD disc.

Thanks. That is the control I couldn't find, I had to switch the burn mode to MP3 to be able to burn songs in MP3 format. Once I got it switched, it did burn an MP3 CD from the playlist.
Might be more usable if that select option (for format) came up as a selector box when one hits the "burn" icon to burn the CD.
There is so much stuff buried under layers of menus that it is very hard for the newbie to find things.
I did a search on the IPOD support site for "burn CD" and got absolutely nothing.
I'm thinking it shouldn't be this difficult to do simple things.
Thanks for telling me the location of the control.
