Burning to folder and then to dvd

Hello,
I am getting into a complete mess trying to burn my project in PE7 to a folder ( can't even see "burn to folder" option!) I need to comlpete this project today so can u PLEASE give me the steps I need to take. I did look in forums, but still none the wiser. I assume it is the Video .ts files that i then burn to dvd from the folder.
Help much appreciated.

Hunt,
Bottom line: I believe that the Bitrate 8.0 vs 5.45 or 7.8 or other is a non issue for Premiere Elements 7 Burn to Disc or Folder. I respect the great work of Robert Johnston, but question generalizations from the work that others have made.
I have not found the original Robert Johnston/Premiere Elements 3/Bitrate 8.0 vs 5.45 link with the reported proof for Premiere Elements 3, but did find the recent follow up chat on that subject in the following March, 2009 link
http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4977
Based on what I read there and my actual studies on the issue with Burn to Folder (with Nero to Burn VIDEO_TS Folder to DVD) as well as Burn to Disc (Sonic within Premiere Elements 7), I am left to recommend the following if you are using Premiere Elements 7 and want to put your Timeline on a DVD disc in the DVD-VIDEO format:
In Share/Disc/Disc or Share or Disc/Burn to Folder
Work with “Fit Contents To Available Space” checked
If the Bitrate is less than 8 Mbps because the program is laboring to fit your Timeline on the disc, stop and consider the consequences of
a. Bitrate lowering vs Quality, judging each case on it own merits, AND
b. the fact that you may not have enough resources to complete the burn.
The only time I ever leave “Fit Contents To Available Space” unchecked, is if and when I get a Data Rate Error message. The major fix for that is to leave the “Fit Content to Disc” unchecked and then manually lower the Bitrate gradually to a point where the Data Rate Error message just disappears.
From Robert Johnson’s 2009 fuzzy recollections of the details of his original work done years ago in Premiere Elements 3 to the more recent chat on the subject, I would question generalizations made from the chat and applied to other situations. Robert Johnson does say in the 2009 link that in Premiere Elements 7 he does not see the quality vs bitrate issues that he reported in Premiere Elements 3. There are too many questions to be asked
a. what was video source and format and duration…is he altering the bitrate on a Timeline whose content exceeds the available space of the disc or one whose content is already within the available space of the disc
b. if you are opting for burn to folder, how if at all are the burn software and/or DVD disc brand and type impacting the quality of the result
c. what does this all have to do with the way Adobe has programmed this Bitrate factor with and without “Fit Contents To Available Space” checked.

    EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!
IS THERE ANY WAY TO RETREIVE AN ACCIDENTALLY DELETED BACK UP FROM MY TIME MACHINE DRIVE????
In other words, I emptied out a folder on my main MAC to make space and the next subsequent backup backed up the EMPTY FOLDER and then deleted the "old backup" that actually contained the contents of the very important folder.
Now only the emptied folder exists on my MAC and in the two backups on my Time machine backup drive.
This was clearly a big mistake on my part not realizing that the "old backup" being deleted by Time Machine would include backed up files that I had no intention of getting rid of....
    What can I do now?
Is DATA RETREIVAL even an option?
I am sure that the Folder of files that I need are on the most recently deleted "OLD BACKUP" but how do I get to this, if even possible?????
    Super desperate situation here...

It may be possible to recover some of the data, if it hasn't been overwritten, but it won't be cheap or easy.
You've posted in the Time Capsule forum, but you mention a "backup drive."  If your backups are on a Time Capsule's internal HD, instead of an external HD, it's even worse.
    See Data Recovery.
    Good luck.

Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4

Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture,  and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/  then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture  something .plist  remove them too.
    then try again.
And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
    ~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist

P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
You can reveal it also  from the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > Go,   then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences".

Apple never bopthered to explain that this would happen
Your iDisk is still accessible after moving to iCloud in exactly the same way as before. Nothing is deleted until June 30th 2012.
, so I could easily have lost ALL of the files I kept on iDisk.
No, you couldn't. Firstly, nothing was deleted from your iDisk. Secondly, any files stored on your iDisk should never be your only copy. Even if your iDisk spontaneously combusted, you should keep local backups elsewhere.
Does Apple WANT people to move their storage elsewhere and stop paying Apple for it?
Yes. Apple doesn't provide such a service anymore, nor are you paying them for it.
Apple has made no effort to suggest remedies for the problem it has given iDisk users
They've provided instructions on how to download your files from your iDisk. What you do with them after that is your choice.

  • I can't get my computer to boot up.  The screen is white with a file folder and then at ? in the middle

The screen is white with a file folder and then at ? in the middle

Before declaring that the disk is dead (which is a common cause for what you are seeing), try the steps outlined in this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
This article also has some troubleshooting steps you can try:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417
If you don't have your original system disks, you can boot into single user mode folloing these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1492
and then following the directions for running the fsck command in the second article I list above.
I would try these things before giving up and assuming that the disk is dead. The flashing question mark indicates that a valid boot disk cannot be found. One cause for this is that the disk has experienced hardware failure. However another cause could be that the system and boot files on that disk are somehow damaged (perhaps from a power surge or an improper shutdown of the computer) and in some cases the above repair steps can restore them to working condition.

  • When burning a folder of photos to DVD, photos on  dvd are all pixellated

I use a Nikon D50. Images look great in iphoto, or when printed. But when I burn a folder to dvd for sharing with others, the photos on the dvd are mostly pixellated, some are fuzzy, almost like out of focus. What's going on? Help!
17" flat screen imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1 GB ram

You're looking at the thumbnails. When you burn from inside iPhoto, you're actually creating a miniature library. It's intended for creating a disc that will be recognized by iPhoto in another Mac computer. Each photo is represented by the original "out of the camera" version and the latest modified version (if any modifications were made). Finally, there is a thumbnail of each photo (used by iPhoto) and that's apparently what you were viewing.
If you merely wish to distribute photos to others (including your favorite photofinisher), export the photos to a temporary folder on the desktop. Then quit iPhoto and do a normal (Finder) burn. When finished you can trash the temp folder.

  • How do I put single pictures into one folder and then give a name to folder

I have imported some pictures from a memory stick.  They are in a single format and I want to make them into a folder and add a title to the folder.  What do I do to add it to my events?

In iPhoto menu under "Events" then "Create Event."
Once you have created and named the new Event you can drag and drop from "Last Import" under "Recents" in the pane on the left to the new event.

  • Why is itunes only importing a few songs out of many in itunes music folder and then creating a new folder named "music" contianing those few songs?

This problem has come up after installing a new hard disk to replace a failed one.  I restored the music just fine but iTunes only recognizes a few of the song tracks and then creates a new folder within iTunes called "music"  that contains those few songs.  Tried deleting the .itl and .xml files and reimporting via "Add Library Folder" option with similar results.

  • BPM: send 2 different files to same folder and then call RFC

    Hi Gurus,
I need the design of this BPM:
2 files are pulled from an FTP site, and both placed in an SAP folder (no mapping required). Once both files are placed, then I will need to call an RFC.
I think in BPM for this:
2 receiver steps (for both files) --> 2 sender steps (for both files) --> 1 transformation (for RFC mapping) --> 1 sender (for RFC)
    Am I ok with this?
The only concern is that as the first receiver step starts the process, then for a mandatory reason I don't know I need a correlation on the second. Can I avoid this? how?

Good idea with the dummy correlation.
Does anyone know if I can use only 1 sender CC and get both files and then call the RFC only once?

  • Can Automator do this? (Move folder and THEN import to iTunes)?

I want to drop a music folder on a droplet and have it automatically moved to my Music directory and then the files in that moved directory added to iTunes. I do not want to have iTunes manage my music files for a number of reasons.
I tried to do it in Automater using the "Move Files" action and then the "Import Files Into iTunes" action, but that didn't work, it only moved the files. I'm missing something, as I'm guessing after the move it doesn't pass the directory info to the next action, but I'm a total Automater/Apple Script noob.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you might be able to give me.

    That should be very doable.
I think part of the issue you're facing is that automator needs to know the new location of the folders you moved, so you need to add another Get Specified Finder Items action before the Import Audio Files.
Your Automator action would look like this:
    Get Specified Finder Items
    (Add your drop folder)
    Move Finder Items
    (Select your music folder location)
    Get Specified Finder Items
(Add your new folder location - see note below)
    Import Audio Files
    (use the MP3 encoder)
This works just fine for me on my system, but I let iTunes manage my music folders and have fixed file locations for the drop, and let the system delete after import.
Some caveats: The MP3 encoder will use what ever you have set in iTunes for the bitrate, etc, so make sure iTunes is set where you want it.
I think another issue you're going to run into is that the process can't be completely automated since you're not using fixed folder locations. To use changing locations, you would open the Options button on Get action, check Show this action when the workflow runs. Then when you drop your files or run the automator, it will pop up a box asking you to point to the folder your new music is in. Not quite automatic, but unless you're going to let iTunes manage, I'm not sure how to do that. I'm certainly not automator expert.
You could probably come up with a very sophisticated applescript to do this, but I'm just learning applescript, so you'll have to get help there from someone else.
To make the automator run on the drop, google for instructions there.
Hope this at least gets you going in the right direction.

  • Syncing photos: folder and then folder.mov - wth?

Ok so I want to sync photos from iTunes to my iPhone 4S. This never used to be an issue so I have no idea what changed.  But I have a folder called iPhotos on my Mac that has the photos that I want to sync via iTunes to my iPhone (pictures of my wife, car, etc). When I go into iTunes and click the Photos tab and then "sync photos" then I choose the iPhotos folder, then hit sync...it creates two folders on my iPhone under the photos app. The first is called "iPhotos" and has all 23 pictures. The second is a folder called iPhotos.mov that has the same 23 photos. I tried renaming the folder, etc, and it still does it. Now I have no choice but to choose "all folders" under the photos tab in iTunes, so perhaps it's syncing the "iPod Photo Cache" as well?  How can I work around this?

    I'm having the identical issue.

  • What will I lose by removing a folder and then resynchronizing?

I am having a problem editing files that I imported into Lightroom from my photoshop elements 6 catalog. The details of what I've gone through are in the thread titled: Problem with "Edit in Photoshop" and Lightroom 2.1 failing to import new file
I think I have a work-around, but it involves writing the meta-data of all files out to disk, removing the folders from lightroom, and then re-importing them.
When I do this, I know I will lose some information. I want to know if I will lose more than I'm expecting.
I expect I'll preserve any changes I've made to any files. I also expect I'll preserve all my keywords and that the keyword hierarchy will still be intact. These are the most important things.
I expect I'll lose my stacks. This is an irritation, but I think I'll be able to recover using automatic stacking by picture time. If I do this, how will the program choose which picture goes at the top of the stack? I have to experiment with this feature before I pull the trigger.
I also expect I'll lose any editing history of any pictures I've edited since I brought them into lightroom. This isn't a big deal for me -- I've only edited a hundred or so pictures in the week or so that I've been playing with lightroom.
So am I missing anything? Is there anything important I'll lose by this procedure?
    Thanks for the input.
    Doug

.....and with any stack open, right click the image you want to be at the top of the stack and select it.

  • When I burn a CD and then try and print pictures they are blurry. Why?

Pictures are very clear on computer, Very clear when I print from memory card. However, I burn to CD and they print very blurry. I burn from a Mac computer.

Does this question have something to do with iPhoto by chance? If so, I would suggest starting a new thread in the iPhoto forum for help with that software.
