As points of reference
a. In the burn dialog just before you hit the Burn button, what values does the burn dialog Quality Area show for Space Required and Bitrate?
b. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card/graphics card? Do you have 1 or 2 cards?
c. Latest version of QuickTime installed and running program as Administrator?
d. No protected matter in the burn to?
Do you have an installation disc for your Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8 (presumed 64 bit system)? Or, installation files? And, the purchased serial number?
If so, in the opened project go to Help Menu/Deactivate and click on Deactivate. Close out of there.
Then uninstall the program via the usual Control Panel route.
Do a ccleaner run through to get rid of leftovers from incomplete uninstalls and/or installs.
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Do the regular cleaner as well as the registry cleaner parts of the ccleaner.
Reinstall the program with anti-virus and firewalls turned Off.
Please update us on your progress when you get a chance.
If any questions or need clarification on anything written, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you.

  • Burning to folder and then to dvd

    Hello,
I am getting into a complete mess trying to burn my project in PE7 to a folder ( can't even see "burn to folder" option!) I need to comlpete this project today so can u PLEASE give me the steps I need to take. I did look in forums, but still none the wiser. I assume it is the Video .ts files that i then burn to dvd from the folder.
    Help much appreciated.

    Hunt,
Bottom line: I believe that the Bitrate 8.0 vs 5.45 or 7.8 or other is a non issue for Premiere Elements 7 Burn to Disc or Folder. I respect the great work of Robert Johnston, but question generalizations from the work that others have made.
I have not found the original Robert Johnston/Premiere Elements 3/Bitrate 8.0 vs 5.45 link with the reported proof for Premiere Elements 3, but did find the recent follow up chat on that subject in the following March, 2009 link
    http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4977
Based on what I read there and my actual studies on the issue with Burn to Folder (with Nero to Burn VIDEO_TS Folder to DVD) as well as Burn to Disc (Sonic within Premiere Elements 7), I am left to recommend the following if you are using Premiere Elements 7 and want to put your Timeline on a DVD disc in the DVD-VIDEO format:
In Share/Disc/Disc or Share or Disc/Burn to Folder
Work with “Fit Contents To Available Space” checked
If the Bitrate is less than 8 Mbps because the program is laboring to fit your Timeline on the disc, stop and consider the consequences of
    a. Bitrate lowering vs Quality, judging each case on it own merits, AND
    b. the fact that you may not have enough resources to complete the burn.
The only time I ever leave “Fit Contents To Available Space” unchecked, is if and when I get a Data Rate Error message. The major fix for that is to leave the “Fit Content to Disc” unchecked and then manually lower the Bitrate gradually to a point where the Data Rate Error message just disappears.
From Robert Johnson’s 2009 fuzzy recollections of the details of his original work done years ago in Premiere Elements 3 to the more recent chat on the subject, I would question generalizations made from the chat and applied to other situations. Robert Johnson does say in the 2009 link that in Premiere Elements 7 he does not see the quality vs bitrate issues that he reported in Premiere Elements 3. There are too many questions to be asked
    a. what was video source and format and duration…is he altering the bitrate on a Timeline whose content exceeds the available space of the disc or one whose content is already within the available space of the disc
    b. if you are opting for burn to folder, how if at all are the burn software and/or DVD disc brand and type impacting the quality of the result
    c. what does this all have to do with the way Adobe has programmed this Bitrate factor with and without “Fit Contents To Available Space” checked.

  • Burning to folder & DVD

My first time to post a note.
For several years I have selected to burn DVD to a folder.  From there I burn it to a DVD.  I have reinstall premiere 12 now several times.  I select to burn to a folder and it seems to go through all the stages.  However, when I open the folder, there is nothing there.  I checked other possible folders and found nothing.  What am I doing wrong?  Is it an internal system problem or am I missing something in the process?  Thanks for your help.

    porkybear
Premiere Elements 12 on what computer operating system? Have you updated 12 to the 12.1 Update yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Updates. If not, please do so.
For your immediate problem, can you burn to disc if you cannot burn to folder?
What other burn software do you have on your computer with Premiere Elements 12/12.1?
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements?
Are you running the programs as administrator?
Have you tried to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file? When you did the uninstall/reinstall did you use the free ccleaner to get rid of leftovers from incomplete uninstalls/reinstalls? If not, we will talk about this after your reply.
Let us start here and then decide what next.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Burning TS folder as Data DVD vs. Video DV. Is there a difference?

Is there a difference between burning a Video_TS folder as a Data-DVD vs. a Video-DVD in a program like Toast?
I'm experiencing a wierd problem with a client where my discs only play on computers and not on DVD-players and I wonder if I may have burned the folder as a DATA DVD instead of a Video DVD and that is the problem...
Does this make sense or am I a complete loon?
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the link and quick response. I did use Toast
When I was working on this proj a few monthes ago, I remembering giving them a "Master" disc with the TS folder in it. I'm currently wondering if perhaps I burned it as a DATA disc because (according to my thinking, let me know if its incorrect) that a TS folder burned as DATA would be of higher quality than a TS folder burned as Video, should they ever need to have it replicated.
Come to find out they had the disc duplicated in-house. And those discs (including my Master) will only play on computers not DVD players... which seems to be consistent with a DATA disc. They inspected the disc and the folders/files look to all be in place so its kind of a mystery. Again, this seems to be what would happen if I burned a DATA instead of VIDEO: all the files would looks to be in place.
    Thoughts?

  • Having Problems Copying Files to Burn Disc Folder

Ok here's the deal. With Tiger I was able to copy files from volume or desktop and paste them in burn disc folder then burn disc from finder. Now whenever I paste them, they paste as alias' (shortcuts) not as the full file. What's going on?
(Keep in mind I do know the dragging creates shortcuts, I'm not dragging I'm copying and pasting, and it always worked great until I upgraded.)
This is extremely annoying. I hate burning through programs and I'd really rather not if someone can explain to me how to fix this problem.

    From Mac Help:
    Creating a burn folder
You can create a burn folder to collect files you want to burn onto a CD or DVD. Burn folders are especially handy for burning several copies of a folder, or for regularly backing up a set of files by burning them to discs.
To create and use a burn folder:
Click the desktop (the background area of your screen) if you want to keep the burn folder on the desktop; otherwise, open the window where you want to keep the burn folder.
Choose File > New Burn Folder, and type a name for the folder.
Drag to the burn folder the items you want to burn to a disc.
The Finder places aliases to the items in the burn folder; the originals are not moved.
When you’re ready to burn the folder’s contents to a disc, double-click the burn folder and click Burn.
Insert a blank disc into your computer’s optical drive, or into an optical drive connected to your computer, and follow the instructions.
The original files that the aliases point to are burned to the disc. In addition, if any folder in the burn folder contains aliases, the original files for those aliases are burned to the disc as well.
If the Finder cannot find the original file for an alias, it asks whether to cancel burning or to continue without that item. If you cancel, the disc remains empty.
If a burn folder is in the sidebar of a Finder window, you can quickly burn its contents to a disc by clicking the burn icon beside it.
    ~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~
There is a gear on the bottom of the burn folder in Finder, that appears when a blank DVD is loaded, which when clicked will tell you how much room has been used on the disk or the remaining space, can't remember which at this stage.
I burnt 5 DVDs plus CDs via aliases in burn folders to move all my records from my old iBook to my MacBook Pro, both running Leopard. Believe me it does work. ~ not one coaster either.
This is a user to user forum, thanks and a smile go a long way.
By the way Tiger used alias to Burn discs too:

  • When burning a folder of photos to DVD, photos on  dvd are all pixellated

I use a Nikon D50. Images look great in iphoto, or when printed. But when I burn a folder to dvd for sharing with others, the photos on the dvd are mostly pixellated, some are fuzzy, almost like out of focus. What's going on? Help!
17" flat screen imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1 GB ram

You're looking at the thumbnails. When you burn from inside iPhoto, you're actually creating a miniature library. It's intended for creating a disc that will be recognized by iPhoto in another Mac computer. Each photo is represented by the original "out of the camera" version and the latest modified version (if any modifications were made). Finally, there is a thumbnail of each photo (used by iPhoto) and that's apparently what you were viewing.
If you merely wish to distribute photos to others (including your favorite photofinisher), export the photos to a temporary folder on the desktop. Then quit iPhoto and do a normal (Finder) burn. When finished you can trash the temp folder.

  • PRE 11 Burn To Folder

I just started using PRE 11.  My last Adobe experience was PRE 4.  I just finished a project and decided to burn to folder, both for AVCHD and DVD since not all of my family can handle AVCHD.  The AVCHD burn went fine.  I just burned the BDMV folder to a DVD and it played fine on my blu-ray player.  Then. as I have always done for years, to make the DVD, I burned  the video_ts folder to the DVD.  That would not play.  So then I burned the openDVD and the video_ts folders to the DVD and that wouldn't play either.  I then burned directly to the disk, instead of the folder and that played fine.  I could copy that DVD, and I also made an image file of it and made more copies.  So, what did I do wrong with the folder approach?

Use the free download ImgBurn to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a disc. (Make sure it's the folder, and not just the contents of the folder.)
If you select ImgBurn's option to Verify Disc after the burn, it will virtually always play in a DVD player.

  • What happen to menus when you burn to folder?

I create full menus in PE7 prior to burning to folder. When I use Nero to burn the file to disc, it doesn't incorporate the menu. Any suggestions?
I only use Nero as neither my internal nor external DVD writer is recoginsed from within PE7 if I try to burn to disc.

Paul has given you some good info on getting the Project Burned to a Folder and then to disc. However, the problem with not being able to locate your burner(s) from within PE is most likely an issue with Nero and it's InCD packet-writing program. This module of Nero will "seize" control of your burner(s) and will not let any Adobe products have full control, which Adobe products need to do any Burn to disc. The same thing happens with Roxio's DLA module and even with Windows' packet-writing software, especially if you have Quicken and have ever used its Backup to CD function.
Packet-writing software allows one to see a writable DVD (or CD), as a virtual drive and perform drag-and-drop functions on it. These are often installed by default and really mess up anything Adobe. I highly recommend removing Nero (or Roxio, et al) and then doing a Custiom Install of just the modules that are necessary, omitting DLA, InCD, etc. One often has to do an uninstall and then a Registry cleaning to fully remove all traces of these packet-writing programs. Once clean, do a Custom Install, and choose exactly what you need, leaving out packet-writing modules and any indexing modules.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Error message when burning Home Folder backup disk

I got this error message when trying to burn a backup disk (cd-rw) of my Home Folder. Could somebody please help me figure out what this means? -
The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items cannot be found.

There are a bunch of folders within your home folder, you may want to decide what exactly you want to back up or not.
Besides your personal folders (Desktop, Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures), you may want to decide whether you need to back up the library folder. The library folder generally contains preferences for most of your applications, and also caches and applications support files. These can become really big in some cases (Mine is more than 8GB, will not fit on a dual layer DVD). And the Library>Caches folder contains temporary files that will change from time to time, this might be the cause of your previous error since the shortcut is no longer valid.
Once you chose your files and make sure they will fit on your blank CD/DVD, you can just do what you did before, drag the folders to a Burn folder, make sure you are not running any other apps, so they won't be modifying the files.
There are programs you can use to backup to CD/DVD, Disc burner like Toast will span across several discs if the data does not fit on one. For a more automated solution, Carbon Copy Cloner (http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html) can backup to disc images which you can then burn to discs. I personally don't know a lot backup programs that provide good support for CD/DVDs, so I'll leave this to other folks.
If you are going to backup regularly, I would recommend spending some money on an external drive. You can find quite a few free software for automated backup and saves money and time on burning CD/DVDs. Plus you have the advantage of being able to boot from the external drive should anything bad happened to your internal one.

  • Creating and burning AUDIO_TS folder

I see in Chad Perkins Lynda.com training series that some older DVD players need a Audio_TS folder to play correctly. I created a project, saved it to disk DVD format then burned it to DVD. I gave a copy to a friend that has an older DVD player and it will not play (it did play OK on his computer.) I then created a Video_TS folder in the same folder as the Video_TS folder then tried to burn it to DVD using Nero 9. When I did, I got an error message that it could not burn the Video_TS folder because it was empty. It appears that I need to have at least one file in the folder. Any suggestions as to what to put in it that would not affect the playing of the video?
    Thank you.

    the_wine_snob wrote:
The AUDIO_TS is a leftover from the now mostly extinct DVD-Audio format. Still, there are reports of older players not recognizing a DVD-Video, unless that empty folder is there.
    Hunt
    Er, not quite.
The early players that require AUDIO_TS to be present were built before DVD-Audio specs were finalized in the main,.
It's shoddy formware writing that causes this, as AUDIO_TS is not recognized by a Video-Only player.
Only an Audio capable player can use them though.
BTW - DVDA is far from dead where I am sitting, with (so far) about £40K worth on my books for 2010 already.
It's a shame it never got bigger as the sound quality is truly superb. Far superior to that on DVD-Video.
Still - someone, somewhere decioded that even with a muisc title, the video is the most important part, hence why we see live shows encoded to the dreadful Dolby Digital. It smears the transients to hell & gone, sounds like crap & generally sounds as if there is a sack over each speaker.
The jump from 16 to 24 bit audio is clearly audible to even my bank manager - and don't even start me on MP3.
A well authored DVD-A disc will contain the high res audio in the Audio_TS folder, but - so the discs will play on all players, not just audio-capable ones - sensible houses add a Video_TS too.
    Just my 0.02 worth.

Yes, it is. Just sort the playlist by album.

  • Burn DVD in PE4 or burn to folder questions???

Hi everyone, I have burned my first DVD in PE4, no problems whatsoever. DVD looks great on my 52" TV and my 26". My question is two fold:
    1. After burning one DVD does PE4 save those files in a folder with your original clips etc, or do you have to burn to the folder option to have it ready to burn a DVD using an outside burning program. I ask because if you want a second one do you have to go through that original PE4 process again. It seems simpler to just burn to a folder if you have to go through that long process it does before burning to produce a second copy. (when I opened the DVD PE4 burned it has two folders listed)
    2. If it does not save all that preliminary work, can you just copy the first DVD and burn in Roxio or other burning program Nero etc and get an equivalent quality second copy???
    3. If the "copy disc" option does not work, can you copy the files from the first DVD to your hard drive and then burn in Roxio?
    Thanks

The best way to make more than one copy of a DVD is to burn to a folder rather than directly to a disc and then burn your copies from these folders.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbfa615
This is because (a) the program doesn't save your DVD files otherwise, so every DVD you burn will essentially start the process from scratch, and (b) duplicating a burned DVD has the potential of losing some data, and then you get a coaster rather than a DVD.

Don't know if this any help but hope anybody got some ideas. I've been trying to look for a solution on the forums, but without any luck.
By the way, I'm using a Mac Pro v3,1 (early 2008) with 2 x 2,8ghz quads, 10GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (512mb) and plenty of disk space.

Hey, i think if there could be any of the possibilities you talk about, it might have been a naming error. All files i created had the same name in the new project as in the old one. But i used 1 asset arrow that i copy pasted from a library button "Red facets button" and shift pasted on my own buttons as highlight (paste sub picture). In the first project i did not do this as a straight forward thing, a lot of deleting and adding because i had never done it before and there might have happened something with the naming of the arrow i pasted. I used the same arrow in the second project but without messing with delete, paste all the time. But some how there is no problems now, just something wrong with the last project file =S
    Not so important:
I also noticed while building the new project i once got an "General error", not sure why but happened after a random crash. And 2 get rid of it i had to delete the menu and make it again (i could not edit anything in the menu without getting the error). I rebuild the menu and had another crash when exiting the program, because i thought my computer needs to boot after 2 days online. When i reopened the project i got "General error" in the menu again, but after some clicking it didn't show up (random). Finally i got my project setup and everything works, i did the copy past as sub picture as a straight forward thing.
