Bursting Excel file

Hi guys
here is my problem, i have a report that produces xml result which calls the bursting engine to send it out. My report and also bursting program works perfectly however when i change the output-type in the bursting control file from pdf to excel or in fact any other output-type except pdf the bursting program fails with the error
Error!! Could not deliver the output for Delivery channel:null. Please check the Log for error details.
i looked for that error and i came across many post that identified the problem as wrong SMTP server. However when i change the output-type back to pdf this problem get solved.
how do i enable the XDOBURSTREP log file, and how do i see it
the template it uses is rtf
here is my control file

  • XML PUBLISHER : excel file generated is of large size

    Hi ,
scenario: Using XML publisher I am able to get the output in the Excel format but the file size is 28.2 MB
Issue : The file size is too big so unable to send email through XML bursting program.
    Observation:
For the generated excel sheet when save as option is chosen then its save as type is Web Page (*.htm,*.html ) with the file name appearing in double quotes "sample.xls" , when the save as type was changed to excel and saved , the file size was found to be 5.7 MB .
    Please advise on the following:-
xml publisher's generated output file size is 6 times bigger than the actual excel file size , is there a way to rectify this huge size output for EXCEL file.

  • Automatically schedule FR or IR reports to create Excel files???

    Hello,
My client asked me to 1) create reports against Essbase cubes, 2) automate the update of the reports to Excel files and 3) email the results to various people. In the first phase of this project I was able to do some of this as follows:
    1) Created FR reports.
    2) Scheduled the update of the FR reports to PDF files using the scheduler in Hyperion Workspace. NOTE: I created PDF files because that is the only thing that the scheduler can automatically produce from FR reports.
    3) Created an Excel VBA application that emails the PDF files to a variable list of recipients (each report goes to a different list of people).
Now we are entering the second phase of this project and the client is asking to have the reports created in Excel files instead of PDF.
    ***** Questions *****
    1) Can an IR report be scheduled using the Hyperion Scheduler in Hyperion Workspace to create Excel files?
    2) Is there a utility (either Hyperion or other) that can convert PDF files to Excel files with the exact formatting of the original PDF?
    Thank you,
    Bill H

Thank you for your reply. After your reply I looked in the Hyperion Workspace User Guide and found how to schedule an IR report to create an Excel file. I think the next thing I am trying to determine is how to do "bursting" in IR. I currently have an FR report that gets data from Essbase. I have scheduled this in Workspace to run for all children of a member (or a different example would be all zero level decendants of a member). The Workspace scheduler allows me to create a file for each member and to add the member name to each filename so that they are different. Can I do the same type of thing with IR?
    Thank you,
    Bill H

  • Report Generation tool kit for MS office (Opening an existing excel file and appending to the bottom)

I don't have any problems creating and filling an excel sheet with data. I use the New Report.vi, Easy Title.vi, and Easy Text.vi to create the file. I then save and dispose properly.
What I don't seem to be able to do is open the exsting file and append data to the end of the sheet.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    todd

    Hi Todd,
You can do this by creating a new Excel report with the existing excel file path wired to the "template" input. Then use "Excel Get Last Row.vi" (located under Report Generation\Excel Specific\Excel General) to obtain the location of the last row. Then use that location to input new data into the file.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • .excel file takes lot of time to open after running Custom Program

    DB:11.2.0.2.0
    Oracle Apps:12.1.3
    O/S:AIX 6.1
    Hi All,
    Issue Description:
When the report is submitted, the data gets populated into the table in less than 30secs and xml gets generated within a minute.
But the program takes some time in displaying the output around 5 mins but when we tried with html, it opens up quickly.
The template has a complex matrix, layout wherein, we are using nested FOR loops to display the data in the required format.
Yesterday, we ran the report “Custom GL STAT Trial Balance Report” in DEV Instance and for around 500+ records, it took around 5 mins.
The excel file is only 1 MB and xml generated is 245 KB
Moreover, recently we had increased the OPP jvm to 3GB to avoid java.lang.memory error what was occurring earlier.
    select DEVELOPER_PARAMETERS
    from FND_CP_SERVICES
    where SERVICE_ID = (select MANAGER_TYPE from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES where

    2 3 4
    DEVELOPER_PARAMETERS
    J:oracle.apps.fnd.cp.gsf.GSMServiceController:-mx3072m
Could this issue be due to JVM increase issue or something else?
How, could we monitor the jvm while the report is running to troubleshoot the issue?
Thanks for your time and help on this if anyone is willing to share such an experience faced before?

  • How can i print an Excel file when in the full screen mode (no print options on toolbar or right clk

using Vista, sometimes after creating and saving an excel file, the document is not visible when the file is reopened.
selecting full screen mode makes the document visible, but the toolbars disappear and the print option does not show up on a right click.  How can i print the document and see the document in some other mode than full screen?

In order to print, you can click the CTRL+P keys to launch the print dialog,
Regarding the missing toolbar, try clicking the ALT key to shouw the software menu, then look around under the view option for any available toolbar settings,
If you cannot find it, i would recommend you to try the Microsoft support forums, as they have some more knowledge with their software features
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.

  • Error While uploading a EXCEL file in Web dynpro - HR_KR_XSTRING_TO_STRING

    Hi,
I am getting an error while trying to upload a excel file.  I am using the function HR_KR_XSTRING_TO_STRING for conversion. The error message is  "Unable to interpret    as a number"

First of all, are you sure you know what you are working with here.  If this is standard Excel file in the Microsoft binary/propriatery format there is not function module or class in ABAP that can magically just transform this to a character string.  You should search the forums as this has been discussed extensively.  On that topic, please also do not post duplicate threads.  I have already locked your other thread with the same basic question.
Instead of the binary/propriatery format of Excel, the file should be saved on the client as a text based format - like XML or Text Tab Delimited. You can then use several different options on the server to convert the XSTRING to STRING and process the content (becuase it was text based to begin with).  You could use CL_BCS_CONVERT, the function modules in the function group SCMS_CONV, or the class CL_ABAP_CONV_IN_CE.

  • Need suggestion in uploading dynamic excel file to corresponding columns of internal table

    Hi Friends,
I have an excel file which doesn't have standard template. Just the users will key in their header (in row1 ) and followed by item details in excel and upload to internal table. Now by doing some internal developments in program I need to place the values in corresponding fields.
Let me explain with some examples.
    1. I have an internal table
data : begin of itab occurs 0,
                       f1,
                       f2,
                       f3,
                       f4,
                       f5,
              end of itab.
    2. I have excel file as below
3 . Now i need to fill my internal table itab as below
Need to be placed in corresponding fields.
    4. When I used GUI_UPLOAD FM it updates internal table as
Please give me suggestion on how to achieve it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kumar,
use a temporary table to get excel values and then parse them to a second table with the format you want.
    This is pretty basic.

Depends on data we upload the data from file to R/3 .
If it is regular updation then we used to get the data from application server files to R/3 since local file updation we can not set up background processing..
If it is master data upload and that to one time upload then we use presenation server files to SAP R/3..
See the simple example to upload the data to on master custom table from XLS File

i have a jsp that displays all the report names to the clients and when clicked on the report downloads an excel file and saves to the client machine.this is accomplished by calling a servlet that sets the content type as "application/octet-stream" and setting the header as "setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=myExcel.xls")
and writing the bytes to the excel file.works just perfect.
now if you open the excel file and make changes to it and try to save it with a different name by clicking 'save as' option from file menu, the 'save as file type' by default shows "text" instead of excel worksheet.
have you guys come across this problem anytime....
kindly let me know you have any suggestions ..
    thanks in advance,
    /rahul

    one more point:
the save as list box displays "myExcel.xls"(with quotes) where it should have displayed simply myExcel.
