  • Pre-built Business Areas for Oracle Apps?

    Hello all,
I'd like to know if there are any 'boiler-plate' Business Areas that come with
    Oracle Apps 11i?
I'm building a Discoverer reporting environment over Oracle Apps 11i.
Apps 11i, if you don't know, is enormous! I'd like some 'off-the-shelf'
    material to start with.
    Thanks.

Yes you need to review Doc ID: 139516.1 Discoverer 4i with Oracle Applications 11i from metalink to set them up.

  • Oracle Project Contracts

Is there anyone who has used Oracle Project Contracts for a construction company?
If yes, can you kindly let me know if you are able to put all your BOQ items into the Oracle Project Contracts.
What other functions can be done in the Oracle Project Contracts as regards to the business processes of a construction company.
    Regards

    Hi
The Project contract is the commercial agreement between you and your customer. When you enter a new contract you need to link it to an existing project, which you have eralier set up in Oracle Projects. You would see that on the main page of the contract header. Note, system allows you to enter multiple different contracts for the same project. Therefore, it is nto always on to one relationship between a contract and a project.
The left side region allow you to search for contracts you have already entered into the system. You may view contracts by groups, organization, product and program. The system is adding any new contract to the appropriate grouping based on the program, owning organization and program you have assigned to the contract, on the main page of the contract header. Groups are set in a separate form, where you could assign individual contracts to groups based on your won business logic. Personal shortcuts allow the individual user to enter his own search criteria and save it, so in the futute he will find the contracts that meet that logic.
Item Master Org is the name of an inventory organization which is considered as the master of your company. The item master organization is the inventory organization where you can setup items, and enter their attributes, which will be shared by all other inventory organizations in the company. In that organization you can set up the list of purchable items, items that can be inventorized or items taht you build in your company. Later when you go on and author the contract lines, you could enter the item that needs to be delivered to the customer, or purchased from a vendor.
In Oracle Projects contracts you can link attachments to a contract. You could setup various categories of attachments. Each pdf file which was scanned can be loaded as an attachment. You can assign the name of the documnet and its category.

  • Oracle Project Contract

    Hi,
Can anybody guide me to Oracle Project Contract test scripts. I know project costing and Billing and I need to implement Project contract.
If you can guide me to any document for setups, process flow and test script it would be great.
    Thanks

    Hi
You may start with Oracle Project Contract Implementation Guide.
It is also helpfull to review OKC documents (Oracle Contracts Core), since part of the OKE setups are done in OKC forms.

  • Introducing Business Area for Management Consolidation

Our Business has been using Business Area for all management reporting purpose since SAP had been implemented some 15 yrs back in our organization. They do not want to use Profit Center for management consolidation purpose in SEM-BCS. Our Project Manager wants to go with one data basis with one cons area.
I have planned to remove all Profit center related characteristics (alloc cons Profit center, cons Profit center grp, cons profit center, Investee unit- profit center and Partner cons profit center) and introduce Business Area with Sub-assignment role. Under Breakdown category, I will create necessary sub-assignment from comp code GL transaction data to Business Area. I can do legal consolidation in the normal course and with sub-assignment and using breakdown category, I can derive Business Area based consolidation and also I can generate both legal and mgmt reports.
Whether my understanding of the data basis architecture is correct? Is it prudent to proceed further based on my understanding?
Dan & Eugene: I look forward for your feedback.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Tim

Dan: <i>For management reporting you may not want to post eliminations between companies where the business areas are the same.</i>
If the Business wants to see the eliminations between companies, within the same business area, as part of BEx reports, what should I do? They do not want to execute consolidation functions in UCMON but just want to see how the eliminations have taken place between companies with in the same business area.
Dan: <i>As long as the partner company and partner business area are consistently included for the intercompany transactions, the eliminations between Legal and Management will agree at the top-level of each hierarchy.</i>
Have I to introduce one more InfoObject Partner Business Area in the data basis and assign the role Sub-assignment once again?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to Copy Standard Business Areas in Oracle apps

Does anyone knows how we can copy new Standard BUsiness Areas in Oracle Apps for fresh implementations.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can export the business area and then import it selecting the option to create a new version of duplicated items.
However, I wouldn't recommend doing this. If you just want a new business area, then create a new business area and use manage folders to move the folders you want into the business area. In general there is no need to copy the folders for new implementations but if you want to add copies of folders into the new business area then drop and drop the folders into the new business area.

  • Business Area for Vendor Line Items during Payroll Posting

    Dear All
We are in ECC 6 version of SAP. We are using Business Area for Internal Financial Statement. We are facing a problem with regard to Business area in Payroll posting. Business area does not appear in vendor line items when we make posting of payroll for multiple business area. We have setting technical accounts for HR. We read SAP note 203276 and it seems that it is possible. Can someone tell us what is the reason that business area not coming in vendor line item while payroll posting.

    Hi
That part we have already done. The problem only come when we run payroll and there are vendors belonging to several business area in that case system keep the business area field blank. In case if we set field status required system give error. That is why we run payroll by each business area we also have maintained technical account for 1001.

  • Structuring a Business Area for Reporting Periods and Points in Time

    Dear all,
I'm in the process of designing my first business area for discoverer.
The database is for people staying in accommodation over various periods.
(Anything from individual days to periods of 15 years!!)
The reports I'm producing fall into two categories:
    (a) Reports on periods of time such as:
Accomodation days during a year broken down by Region
Trend of accommodation days per month during a two year period
    (b) Reports on a particular point in time such as:
Number of people in accommodation on a particular day
I'm trying to work out how to structure the business area.
If I think about requirement (a), I'm inclined to create a view which
splits up periods into one month chunks (the smallest period I think I need).
By this I mean having a view which gives me a row for every month for which any period of accommodation is active. This makes reporting on a monthly basis fairly easy.
If I think about (b), I'm inclined to create a view which leaves the accommodation periods as single rows and then calculate a boolean field which indicates whether that accomodation is active on the date in question.
It seems that these two requirements need different structures in the business area. Maybe it's best to create two folders which draw on the two different views.
    Any thought would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Suhada

    Hi,
As you would probably expect, it all depends on your requirement and the table design.
You can create a date hierarchy in Discoverer that contains the day, month, year levels and this will make it easy to create reports with totals aggregated at these levels.
However, if your table contains, for example, the start and end dates when people move in and out of accommodation, then you will need to have a period table so that you can report on the months between the start and end dates. The period table will list all past and future months and you can join this to your data to obtain totals for all the periods.
If you need to have reports that display zeros or nulls for periods where there is no data, then you will need to outer join your data with a period table.
The decision on whether to use views or folders and joins in the EUL depends on the complexity of your data model. If you need to join many tables together to produce a single report, then you should consider putting some or all the joins into database views.
    Hope that helps,

  • Substitution of Business Area for Tax Line Items for Invoices posted in MM

    Hi
We have one Business Area for every company code. A substitution rule has been created to populate Business Area in Tax Line Items, while booking vendor invoice. The substitution rule has been defined as
    Prerequite
    Company Code = 1234 and GL = 1323232
    Substitution
    Business Area = 6668
The system is working fine, when the Vendor Invoice is posted through FI. However, when the vendor invoice is generated through MIRO or MIR7, the Business Area is not substituted.
In Table VWTYGB01, we have maintained BSEG-GSBER as a field allowed for substitution with Boolean Class 09.
We have created the susbstitution rule for Text and Assignment also and the rules are working fine for all document posted through FI and MM

  • Block from key in business area for company do not have business area

    Dear experts,
How can I do a validation rule to block from key in business area for company do not have business area?
    Kindly advice.
    tks!

    Hi,
One option, you can create role via Tcode PFCG for each user/company which do not have business area. You can disable the business area in authorization tab.
One more option you can greyed or freezed the business area field for the company which do not have the business area by using Tcode OBC4. You can suppress the business area field for each GL that been used by the company code. In other words, you create special field status group for the company and suppress the business area.
    Hope this will help you.
    TQ

  • Business Area for Depot Sales

One of our clients who has implemented SAP thru us 3 months back has now acquired a depot for trading in excisable goods. He has acquired a dealers registration for the depot and will be shortly starting his trading activity from the depot.
I have been asked to do the necessary config for that depot. What config is required to be done from the FI-CO angle.
    Full points shall be assigned

    Hi Nikhilesh
Initially as you said that you have acquired a seperate Registration for Traded Goods you need to suggest the MM Consultant to Configure a seperate PLANT marked as Depot. Once it is marked as depot regular excise activities as ment for manufacturing goods cannot be executed here.
In the process all the activities pertaing to Traded Goods should trigger the Register RG23D and not RG23A/C.
Detailed analysis will be given later,
Hope you will be able to sort out the issue based on the above information
Also need to create a seperate Business Area for Traded/Depot Sales.
