Business Area Period

Hi All,
Can anyone please tell me if we can open/close periods for Business Area Postings.
If we can, what is the path or what is the T-code.
Thanks
Debojit Dey

Hi,
For Business Areas, there is no opening / closing of Posting periods. It is basically dependant on FI. In FI opening and closing of periods is done in transaction code OB52.
Thanks
Murali.

  • Structuring a Business Area for Reporting Periods and Points in Time

    Dear all,
    I'm in the process of designing my first business area for discoverer.
    The database is for people staying in accommodation over various periods.
    (Anything from individual days to periods of 15 years!!)
    The reports I'm producing fall into two categories:
    (a) Reports on periods of time such as:
    Accomodation days during a year broken down by Region
    Trend of accommodation days per month during a two year period
    (b) Reports on a particular point in time such as:
    Number of people in accommodation on a particular day
    I'm trying to work out how to structure the business area.
    If I think about requirement (a), I'm inclined to create a view which
    splits up periods into one month chunks (the smallest period I think I need).
    By this I mean having a view which gives me a row for every month for which any period of accommodation is active. This makes reporting on a monthly basis fairly easy.
    If I think about (b), I'm inclined to create a view which leaves the accommodation periods as single rows and then calculate a boolean field which indicates whether that accomodation is active on the date in question.
    It seems that these two requirements need different structures in the business area. Maybe it's best to create two folders which draw on the two different views.
    Any thought would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Suhada

    Hi,
    As you would probably expect, it all depends on your requirement and the table design.
    You can create a date hierarchy in Discoverer that contains the day, month, year levels and this will make it easy to create reports with totals aggregated at these levels.
    However, if your table contains, for example, the start and end dates when people move in and out of accommodation, then you will need to have a period table so that you can report on the months between the start and end dates. The period table will list all past and future months and you can join this to your data to obtain totals for all the periods.
    If you need to have reports that display zeros or nulls for periods where there is no data, then you will need to outer join your data with a period table.
    The decision on whether to use views or folders and joins in the EUL depends on the complexity of your data model. If you need to join many tables together to produce a single report, then you should consider putting some or all the joins into database views.
    Hope that helps,
    Rod West

  • Cost Center validity period change & Business area assignment to cost cente

    We are facing with error KS134 - Transaction data already exists for the period.
    We tried to create new cost center with period split. But I am getting error KS133 - Deletion is not possible (dependent records exist in table ).
    Hence even creation of the new cost center is not possible. We alrady have Validity Period from 1.04.2005 to 31.12.9999.
    Is there any alternative solution ?
    Sumeet

    Hi Sumeet,
    The fields in Cost Center Master Data are "Time-Dependent" and you can see the Time-Dependency of each field in OKEG transaction code where you can find "Business Area" to be "Fiscal-Year" based.
    So, if at all you need to change the Business Area, it would be possible in next financial year only...
    And also, because, your Cost Center is defined from 01.04.2005 to 31.12.999, there is no way that you can change the validity period so as to create / extend in the same period-lap.
    I hope you got it...

  • Business area wise Balance

    How can i get report of Vendor balance depending on business area?
    Moderator: Please, avoid asking basic questions

    Hi,
    If you want to use a business area as selection and see a vendor balance; use report S_ALR_87012082 and in the dynamic selection enter the desired business area.
    You can acheive the same with FBL1N; but you would need to make a display variant which gives you the desired balance summary.
    Alternatively you can set up the vendor information system S_ALR_87012077; where you could set data up and view on different parameters.  You will, however, need to configure and also be aware that the info system will be populated thru a periodic job.
    Cheers

  • Problem while changing Business Area in Cost Center Master Data

    I am having a problem while changing the Business area in cost center master data, the system does not allow to change the business area due to the following reasons;
    1.  The transactional data already exists for that cost center
    2.  The desired date required to be changed, falls between analysis period 01.01.2000 to 31.12.2999
    Can anyone help me in order to reslove this issue
    Thanking in anticipation

    Dear Dejan !!
    Thanks a lot for resolving my problem actaully i have tested the scenario in Testing Server by changing the fiscal year and the system allowed to change the business area before any transactional data posted.

    Dear all
    herre client is introdusing business area for running business
    when i check in oby6 business area financial statments as required
    if am going to pass a entry in f-02 the after assigning cost center the error is cost center not assigned to business area.
    if i am going for caost center to assign business area in tc-ks02 here business area is required entry  if i enterd business area if i saved that one the error is The field change business area isnot possible (transaction data already exists)
    Field change Business Area is not possible (transaction data already exists)
    Message no. KS134
    Diagnosis
    To ensure the consistency of existing data, you can only change object Business Area if no transaction data exists in the change period; that is, neither plan data nor actual data has been posted.
    As transaction data already exists, it is not possible to change objects in this time period.
    Procedure
    If you still want to change the object, select a suitable change interval by choosing "Edit -> Analysis period...".
    if i follow above menu bar  edit-analysis period  it is giving same error
    appricated

  • Business area is not being specified in cost center master.

    Hello Professional friends,
    When i specify Business area in existing cost center master data, it appears an error massage -    "Field change Business Area is not possible (transaction data already exists)"
    I tried to change the validity by analysis Period, when i do this, it appears anothe error " No further processing (contact your system administrator)"
    Its user critical requirement that he want to specify business for all new and existing cost center.
    there is no problem with new cost center.
    Waiting for valuable suggestion.

    Hello,
    The rule is that if you make any actual or planned date within the current year, you cannot make any changes to any of the organizational units within the cost center master.
    From the next year, you can remove / change the business are within the cost center master, provided:
    You have to change the validity period of the cost center master by doing:
    Go to KS02
    Edit ==> Analysis Period
    put your cursor on the valid from e.g. 01.01.1900 and click F5 (the line gets selected and become blue)
    Click on Other Analysis period and then change the analysis period. The new analysis period must be starting with the first date of the next fiscal year.
    Now change or remove the business area.
    For this year, surely you cannot change the business area, since there postings.
    Do not try to write any ABAP program to change the standard in order avoid the business area change error, it would end up data inconsistencies.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi sonali,
         For that,
    Drilldown report on Venodr, so put characteristic in Row.
    In colum for opening balance, create a calculated keyfigure where fiscal year period LT 'Selected period'. which is balance.
    For Closing balance, create a calculated keyfigure where fiscal year period LE 'Selected period'. which is balance.
    For Debit and credit colum. create calculated key figure and restrict fiscalyear period = "selected period", with debit credit indicator = 'H' and 'S'. respectively.

  • IU Elimination Difference Subassignments (Business Area and Profit Center)

    Hi experts, it's my second tread in the forum and is in one day, I'm expired.
    <br>
    <br>
    Let's clarify the situation.
    <br>
    <br>
    At the past I'm using the parameters settings of IU Eliminination Difference Subassigments with fixed values, now, with our necessity, we question SAP how to do a interunit elimination receiving the business area  and Cons. Profit. Center from the trigger at the differences, and it apparently was simple solve, we just need to mark the "default value" flag and voila, system will do what we need, but is not so simple how we think.
    <br>
    <br>
    In productive environment, we have data since June/2009, and we want to change this from Jan/2010, but elimination is cumulated, and I suspect SEM-BCS is trying to correct the past.
    <br>
    <br>
    Does anybody pass this situation ?
    <br>
    <br>
    What we need is on every elimination on selection items and the difference items receive the business area and cons. profit center from the trigger (this have to remain with the origins), and the total value of elimination on period don't have to change, do you understand ?
    <br>
    <br>
    When change the configuration of the task and execute that, the eliminaton value change too ? We suspect it is
    because we have data before this period.
    <br>
    <br>
    If you need more explanation, please advice me, I will give more details.
    <br>
    <br>
    Here we are in SEM-BCS 600 EHP 2
    <br>
    <br>
    Best Regards
    <br>
    Alexandre Mendoza Collepicolo

    The breakdown category and the corresponding data is the same in the source system. I think I did`t express very well.
    I will put my understand about the default flag of the difference screen: This is used to try to get the subassignments from the items which we select on the preview screen not the fixed parameters. i.e.: Business Area.
    On January, we decided to get the subassignments on difference from the items on selection screen, for this we flag the default value, and re-execute the elimination on the monitor, but, when we execute this, the value is entirely wrong/different from the other, we suppose when we flag that and re-execute the elimination we get more line of elimination on total records with the business area, but that's not what happened, we have strange value with a total of elimination very different.
    Is it clear the operation ?
    I contact SAP and they are analyzing the case, but if anyone had a similar problem please advice me.
    Best Regards

    Regards,
    Samar

    Hi,
    Execute the balance sheet adjustment run.  This is under GL -> Periodic processing ->closing -> reclassify ->Balance sheet adjustment.
    It is a multi step process.
    Read more about it here: [Balance Sheet Adjustments|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/5f/1fadef4aee11d189740000e8322d00/frameset.htm]

  • Control OB52 per Business Area

    Hi All,
    We are having multiple Business areas under 1 company code. Any idea on how to control posting period per business area? Thx
    Best Regards,
    Kawi

    The variants in OB52 are at the compamy code level. You can take these down to GL account level, customer, vendor and materials. If you can segrgate based on that you have your control.
    Being more creative, you might be able to build some special validation that reads a custom table and if there is a period xx for business area xxx then it gives a message. Totally custom and I would not do this unless I absolutely could not use standard stuff.

  • Business area not capturing

    Dear Experts
    Business area not capturing for tax code while doing invoice verification.
    Can anyone helpme
    Regards
    Kumar

    Hi
    Use t-code F.5D and F.5E for business area adjustment, Or else consult you FI Consultant
    he Business area is never filled in automatic posting such as taxes or bank accounts. You have to customize the adjustment retroactively in the IMG. You will find it in "General  ledger Accounting -> Business Transactions -> Closing -> Regrouping ..." Once you have set all the accounts require, in functional you have to run all the Regroup transactions (General Ledger -> Periodic Processing -> Closing -> Regroup -> Balance Sheet Adjustment ...)
    This process ensures the zero balance per business area necessary for
    creating business area balance sheets.
