Business Card Scanner

Hello,
does anybody know if there is a business card scanner which supports SAP CRM ?
We actually run SAP CRM 5.0 and have a workaround to create flat files to upload them to SAP with a special report.
Thanks in advance,
Thorsten

Why not open a free Dropbox account and take a photo of the business card and upload it? No OCR capabilities with that though.

  • Business card scanner and Snow Leopard?

Is anyone using one successfully? Recommendations?
I see that CardScan for Mac was designed for Leopard -- unsure if it works with Snow Leopard.
I have a large and growing pile of business cards I'd like to feed into one of these things.
    Thanks,

  • Business Cards functionality on iPad

    Hi Pushkar,
I was referring to one of your Blogs from February(SAP Cloud for Customer - February 2014 Release Highlights) and noticed that under User Experience - there is a Native Business Card Scanner for Mobile Solutions.
Do you have any documentation related to this? Like how do we use this feature on iPad application today and what is the exact use.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Siva.

    NM..
Enable the Business Card Scanner to Create Leads (optional)
Buy the appropriate number of licenses for business card scans for your company from ABBYY at http://cloud.ocrsdk.com.
Each business card scan counts as one A4 scan.
As a result, ABBYY sends you the application name and password.
Log on to your SAP solution as an administrator and choose  Administrator Mashup Web Services Business Card Scanner Service .
    Choose Enter API Keys.
In the dialog box that appears, choose Show API Keys.
Enter the application and password that you received from ABBYY.
    Save your entries.
Back on the Web Mashup Services screen, select the Business Card Scanner Service and activate it.

  • How can I import business cards?

    hi there
my brother uses his mac as the main computer in his business, as a company he has a mailing list and customers constantly give him business cards, but the amount he gets he often doesn't have the time to spend inserting all the information into his customer contact book for future mailing lists.
He asked me to find out what good hardware/software there might be that will work with a mac that will make it very easy for him to do this.
Preferably a business card scanner via usb that he just pops in the business card and the information is added straight to the address book without any clicking through menu or anything else.
    please help ??
    thanks

    hey alberto
thanks for the reply. I am sorry I forgot to mention I had already done some searches of the products you have mentioned and didn't find any good reviews of the porducts.
I look at iris link and none of the products seemed to get a good review. I did however find a good option through dymo but the only problem is the price, with the right one for the mac starting at £200 or more.
I already had checked out some apps for the iphone, but many rely on ocr technology which at times makes mistakes and if your try to scan business cards simply without having to do my re-editing, it isn't a good option.
I found an app called 'card munch' that uses real human transcribers to transcribe the information and sends it back to you, but obviously it isn't instant.
I have emailed these options to my brother and he is probably going to make a decision soon.
I posted the discussion because I thought their might had been a apple own brand hardware that would let you scan business cards, surely the people at apple must have this problem too.
Also might be possible is some ocr software that will work with a mac and a flatbed scanner.

  • How to stop the guesswork with printing business cards

Hello everyone, when I print business cards I use one of those 10 blank business cards per sheet paper.
I scan the image of the blank business card template, then I import to Illustrator and then I make the business cards.
The problem is when I print sometimes I get some of the design cut and have to print again until I get it right.
My question is how do I get rid of the guesswork when it comes to printing business cards on a 10 card per sheet? (I believe the problem occurs because my scanner is not exactly 8 1/2 by 11 and therefore there is some margin for error)
I know I could use Indesign, but since I don't have Indesign (and may not have it in a future graphic design job) how do I do it in Illustrator?

There should be no guesswork if you set up your Artboard, guides, etc., accurately.
I never do this by scanning and tracing a card template sheet, by the way. It only takes a few minutes,to take accurate measures from the sheet and enter the dimensions for guides, etc., numerically. That way you are confident, for example, that you do, indeed, use consistent spacing between rows & columns of die cuts. And the question of any scaling/position/distortion from your scanner image becomes moot.
Then you simply have to design to accomodate the inaccuracy of the specific printer--which is almost certain to be the cause of the misregistration--just as one has to do for a printing press. Paper jogs somewhat as it proceeds through a commercial offset press, just as it does (albeit to a greater degree) on an office copier.
If you design graphic elements which are supposed to print all the way to the edge of the cards, make sure those elements bleed beyond the edges of the die cuts. For this reason, try to find card sheets on which the cards do not share edges, but have spaces between them. If you can't find such sheets, then limit yourself to designing bleeding objects which can span across whole rows or columns of cards.
What Scott says about availability of cheap printing online is true. You can also get short-run, on-demand, decent-quality, digital printing in places like Kinko's, Office Depot, etc. But often, the whole point of this excercise is to provide the client (or workgroups in your own company) the convenience of printing a few cards at a time on a desktop device or a networked office printer.
Delivering the card design as an Enabled PDF is great for this; you can create editable fields for the changing content (names, phones, etc.,) and the one document can work for the whole company. Any user can edit the fields in Adobe Reader, save the edits, and print the pre-cut sheets on a suitable office device, or at a quick-copy shop.
Also, consider the actual need for die-cut stock. Even a quick-copy shop running a decent digital press most likely has a paper shear also. Your real materials cost is much higher per card with pre-perforated sheet, toner, and inkjet cartridges, and you have to fuss over the suitability for inkjet versus laser devices. You're paying for convenience at the sacrifice of quality.

  • Business Card Scanners

Has anyone evaluated how to use business card scanners with Oracle CRM on Demand or best practice on getting the data from the scanner into CRM?

Hi, Most of the business card scanners provides facility to integrate with your mail client like Outlook / Lotus Notes. From there you can upload to OnDemand using PIM sync facility. This is kind of acceptable to some clients

  • N8 -text recognizer & business card reader

If I go to my pictures, hold select, choose 'send' I get the options 'to text recognizer'' and 'to business card reader'. When I choose any of these I get the 'feature not supported'. Is there any away to get thhese features working?

What software version are you running on your Nokia N8-00 ?
You can find out by choosing Call -> and typing *#0000#
As standard there should not be the Options -> send  to 'business card reader', or 'to text recognizer''
It sounds like you have installed some third party software on your phone, that have OCR features, and that added these options to your Send menu, much like Pixelpipe does.
I would recommend that you check your installed programs and look for something called businesses card reader, or document scanner or similar. If you find out what third party software that gives you these options, its easier to help you.

  • How can I properly attach an Email 'business card' signature?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there were any better ways to attach a business card signature with mail.
Currently I have a small business card that I have optimized to around 60 kb, I use the signature feature in Mail to drag it in and add my standard business disclaimer stuff underneath.
Thing is if I send it to another MacMail account it displays fine but if I send it to Gmail or Yahoo it appears as a seperate attachment that needs to be downloaded etc.
Is there anyway round this? A way for it to just appear under the text of my email for any Email host or software without it appearing as an attachment. Outlook seems to allow the function and I'm allways receiving full page HTML graphical advertisments in my inbox, simular to the ones when you get a receipt etc, should I use the same principals?
I'd also like to know if I can make it link to my website using some code from Image Shack or similar online host.
    Many thanks.

Hi, have you gone to Mail>Edit>Attachments>Always send Windows friendly attachments?

  • Pages '08 Business Card Template Question

In Pages '08, is there a way to change the business card template page view to a single card view, allowing me to create one card that would automatically display itself in all 10 positions when the layout is changed to multiple card view? This can be done with the old Appleworks program, but I can find no way to do this with Pages. It seems I have to choose a card template, modify one of the boxes with my info, then copy and paste it into the other 9 boxes. Is this correct? If so, it is a step way behind the Applewoprks method.

Yes it is a step backwards, but herre is the way to work with it.
Create your one card, highlight all of its components, group them, then copy and paste it into the space below it perfectly. NOW DON'T TOUCH ANOTHER KEY!!! Instead, just repeat the paste function (Command+V) 3 times to fill the left side of the card stock. Now paste another one in the right top spot, select the right top, copy and paste and then position in the next lower spot to repeat what you did on the left side. If you positioned the second card correctly, this should have only taken maybe 1-1½ minutes.
    Good Luck.

  • How do I create a business card on my MAC?

I used to be a Windows user and everytime I try to do something I knew how to do in windows I can't figure out how to do it in MAC. Can someone tell me how to create a business card or find a template to create one?
I've tried to find the anwser everywhere and can't find it.
Although I have some trouble sometimes I do love my MAC.
    Thanks

It's not the computer platform that determines this, how you make business cards depends on what program you're using.
I assume, that since you mention coming from Windows, you're used to doing this task in Word. You can do it in Word for Mac. You can probably find quite a few shareware or freeware programs on MacUpdate or VersionTracker. I've used AppleWorks & now Pages for years for this kind of stuff.
This is the forum dedicated to the workings of the forums themselves, not for technical questions. A better place for this question would have been the forum for using the model of Mac you have.
Another little FYI: Apple Macintosh computers are referred to as Mac (capital M, small a, small c), not MAC (which is an acronym for the Media Access Control address of a networking device).
