What is Business Communication System and how it works. Is it beneficial for small and medium or large size business?

You can use th Buiness system as a receiver for IDOC.
Making sure
1. the LS of the system(R/3) is same in the SLD and it is also reflecting in the adapter specific attributes in the ID.
2. Use the same LS name for the BS pointng to FIle in the SLD.
Complete the IDOC configuration from XI
1. Create the RFC dest from XI to ECC
2. Create the Trfc port and call this RFC dest created..
3. Use this Trfc port in the IDOC receiver
On ECC:
Make sure the Partner Profiles is created properly.
it is suggested to use always the business systems when you deal with IDOC and Proxies.

Hi,
I am having difficulties with the Business Event System (BES).
Actually, I've read the Oracle documentation about BES. Still I don't understand much.
There are little documentation about the BES, and I still get blank point.
Here are my questions :
1. What the Business Event System is?
2. Some of documentations show that using the BES, the workflow can interact with
different system.
What does 'different system' mean?
Does it mean to another computer (perhaps Client Server type)?
Or to another system (like headquarter which has several branches) located in
different location?
Or to another database service in the same computer (perhaps ORCL and ORCL2)?
Or with another database applications (i.e Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL)?
3. How do we use the BES?
How do we define BES?
Where do we use the BES?
Is it using PL/SQL?
Or the BES itself is a PL/SQL which is inside a procedure or function or trigger (used
to manipulate the database)?
What does the BES look like? Is it a PL/SQL code, an e-mail, or ...?
4. Some documentations said that using the Event (with Receive type) as a start node
(in Workflow Builder), the process will wait and respon <u>until</u> a Business
Event is detected?
How do we interact with BES?
How do we know what kind of BES to start the process?
Do we use the Oracle Advanced Queuing?
Is it using an e-mail to start the Event?
5. There is a statement from the "Feature Overview Oracel9i Application Server : Oracle Workflow" (from Oracle site)
"Business event messages from Oracle Workflow can be placed on or received from Oracle9i Advanced Queues, providing support for Oracle Net as well as HTTP and HTTPS communication protocols."
and
"The Business Event System uses Oracle Advanced Queuing to propagate messages between communication points on systems, called agents, using a specified protocol. Events received from external systems are processed by an agent listener that runs on the agent's queue."
Actually what the Advanced Queuing is?
Is it the mechanism of scheduling activites such as sending a message?
Is it use to start the Workflow Background Engine periodically?
What does the Events received from external system is? Is it an e-mail?
If it is True, so the workflow process could be start using an e-mail?
6. There is also a documentation stated that the Event can be raised using the PL/SQL WF_EVENT.Raise() API.
The Event also could be launch using the Workflow Home Page (Workflow monitor) in Event link?
So what does the BES is used for, if the Event could be launch using a PL/SQL?
Is the process of raising the Event called BES?
Such as a procedure to manipulate database tables that consist the WF_EVENT.Raise().
What is Generate Function is?
7. What Agent is?
What Subscription is?
What Event group is?
8. Perhaps there is a guide book of using the Business Event System?

I am in exactly the same position...
Have queued up my events using wf_event and the subscription is putting them in WF_OUT ok.
So, I guess that WF_OUT is a multisubscriber queue, so when we register with it in BPEL it asks for us to identify ourselves using the consumer and/or correlation ID.
However, I'm with you in that I have no idea how to specify the consumer.
There is a CORRID column in WF_OUT and I'm banking on that being the correlation ID at the moment....
I'll let you know if I crack it!

I have a VCM in our environment. the peroson who was doing VCM administration is already left. now I am unble to login with admin credentials. Is there any way to recover administrator password.
I have try to login through user(local admin), which was used for VCM installation. I get a message that the user id is disabled.

ABAP List Faxing using BCS method ( Business communication service )

Experts,
I have a requirement where we are faxing the ABAP list as it gets generated .
I am using NEW-PRINT ON and NEW-PRINT OFF , to get the ABAP list in a spool request , and then get the spool contents using function module : 'RSPO_RETURN_SPOOLJOB'
I then use Class / methods provided by Business communication service , such as :
cl_cam_address_bcs=>create_fax_address ,to send this spool content to Fax gateway .
My fax goes , but the fax output list is in X_65_255 format, whereas i want the fax output to be in X_65_132 ..
My REPORT statement does have X_65_132 as line count / line size BUT somehow the Fax output does not take this list format .. ANY IDEA's ????

Sending smartform as faxMessage transferred by node to communication system

Hi All,
I want to send the smartform output as FAX . So I am following below steps:
1. Call the smartform function module.
2. get the otf format
3. call the function module "CONVERT_OTF_AND_FAX"
4. Commit work
5. submit RSCONN01 with MODE = 'FAX' with OUTPUT = 'X' and return.
When I checked in SOST, it gives the status text as "Message transferred by node to communication system"
And the last transmission history is "Document deleted from queue".
And FAX doesn't come.
How to do this.

         To send the smart form output as Fax, Do the following steps
          a) Call the function module SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME give the form
              name, then we gets the function module name
          b) To get the fax number for a particular customer, Go to KNA1 table get the
              fax number "TELFX" field by giving the customer number
          c) Get the communication method (DEFLT_COMM) from ADRC table by giving
              the address number which is getting from KNA1 table
          d) If the communication method (DEFLT_COMM) = "FAX" then
               DATA: Control_parameters type ssfctrlop,
                          Output_options       type ssfcompop,
                           Control_parameters-device = "TELEFAX".
                           Control_parameters-preview   = ' '.
                           Control_parameters-no_dialog = "X"
                           Output_options-tdtelenum = KNA1-TELFX.
                           Output_options-tdnoprev = "X".
           Call the function module by giving the name as getting in step (a). And pass the
           control_parameters and output_options
         Try with this logic. It will work

Smartforms Mail by Business Communications Interface

According to the documentation in SAP library on SmartForms, you should be able mail a smartform as PDF, directly from the generated function module. For that, you have to set the CONTROL_PARAMETERS-DEVICE = 'MAIL'. Then you need to create recipient, sender and application BOR ID's and pass these to parameters MAIL_RECIPIENT, MAIL_SENDER and MAIL_APPL_OBJ. I have no experience with BOR objects, and I think something goes wrong at that point.
The SAP Library refers to sample code, in report RSSOKIF2. I have copied this code, and modified a little, to be able to send to an e-mail address, only changing the recipient type to 'U', and moving the e-mail address to the AddressString parameter.
This doesn't work. Does anyone have any working code to send smartforms to an e-mail address USING THE BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE ?
I know how to send e-mail with PDF attachment. I am trying to find out how to use the BOR objects technique.

I did also follow this example but it was from the book - "SAP Smart Forms" by Werner Hertleif and Christoph Wacheter. Chapter 10 has a nice exaple that you can follow. You have to copy some of the source code from the back of the book's appendix. I wa not able to get it to work initially. I found that it was necessary to issue the commit work command if you are sending via external (internet) e-mail. It seemed to me that the commit work was not necessary if you just send to an internal sap user e-mail address.
Also be sure that you have set up the e-mail address for your current user in the SU01 user maintenance.

Sizing for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management)

We have to provide a server sizing to be used for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management) module which will be intergrated with SAP CRM and is to be used for call support. As far as we have reached, we require a Windows server and will host MS SQL database with an approx consumer data of 63 lacs consumers.
Please specify the sizing for this server

Sorry, forgot to ask how much physical memory you have on each host.
Let's split it to 2 topics.
1. For ECC, since OracleDB and non-unicode page which are the 2 major factors won't be changed, so I would think here we could just do a math, as long as host A has enough memory which is allocated for Oracle and ECC (extended memory) on host B to be added up.
2. For EP, memory tuning size is basically the same for HP JDK and SUN JDK, that each server node is allocated approximately 2.5GB RAM. Besides, 0.8-1GB RAM needs to be left for OS kernel. But in your case, host B is currently holding 200 users which is a big jump for host A(note: only active user quantity matters here).
That's fine if main physical memory is a little short for host A, utilizing multiple less powerful servers as 2nd tier application server to do the load balancing is also a solution with lower TCO.

we currently had 130 port IVR (we are running CCX 7.0 Premium )
Is there any way to write the script for IVR so that when all IVR ports are busy, the system will prompt the next call that it’s full load ? Can we do that ? If yes please share the documentation how to configure it

It requires IVR port to create a script to play prompt, while all of the IVR ports are currently busy. If there are some ports left to write script, it's not possible to service many customers at a same time, and the overload is still not resolved, either.

I log in to 'HP Enterprise Business Community' and 'Consumer Support Forums' with the same username?

I am expecting that I must use a different user ID to log in to each of 'HP Enterprise Business Community' and 'Consumer Support Forums.'
However, I am logged in to both with the same user id.
Then, how to get to my subcriptions I posted in each forum?
Although I log in to the 'HP Enterprise Business Community ' and Consumer Support Forums' with same user name, when clicking on my user name while logged in to 'Consumer Support Forums'. , then I only noticed my posts posted at this forum. However, thos posted in HP Enterprise Business Community, I didn't find them. To see them, then I must click on my usename while logged in to HP Enterprise Business Community.
Could you please confirm this for me?

The Enterprise and Consumer forums are separate communities. Even if you use the same username, you need to go to them separately to view your subscribed threads.

Copying a Business Connector System

Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating our business connector system to another server. The server will be built on the original OS and Business Connector release.
Is there a way which I can just copy over the business connector settings to the new server or do I require a re-installation. How can I copy across the configuration?

you can do a basic installation and then just copy the folder sapbc47 or whatever.
All the configuration will be included as it is under this folder.
So here are the steps:
1.make the installation
2.using file explorer rename the installed server folder lets say sapbc47
3.Copy the contents of the previous installation at the installed folder sapbc47.
All the configuration will be included.
you can start the server from windows command under sapbc47/server/bin/server.bat -log none -debug 5 or by windows services if you have installed it as a service..
